I am from water. I was born by the ocean and since moving to the states 31 years ago Lake Michigan has become my ocean. Cayaquitos beach in my hometown has a spot where the ocean meets a sweet water lagoon and seeing this Lake Michigan spot made me homesick and sad that I won't be able to visit my beach, family or spend New Year's with my sister. But still I am grateful to have a job, health, and my writing. The exchange of water reminds me of the inevitability of change and growth. Your past influences your future. Our backyard Thanksgiving/Bday celebration lunch was a success. We stayed within our family pods and managed to have a sit down lunch with tables far enough apart. Happy Saturday 🥳 Pic is from yesterday's first training from The Community Writing Project (CWP). My goal is to bring writing workshops to Pilsen in English and Spanish. Getting trained in a more social justice approach to making workshops happen is crucial to create a safe writing space for writers who don't feel empowered to share/write/tell their stories. Finding out about the training also affirmed my belief in manifestation and the power of writing/speaking your goals.
