Why isn't the plot "plotting"?
when I first started watching Impossible Heir, I found its abrupt time skips lowkey irritating, but stuck through coz it was an interesting build-up - all the characters seemed competent enough in their roles. The entire Kang family was thoroughly rotten but also conniving. And the three main characters seemed driven, skilled and perceptive. But as of episodes 8-9, everyone's forgotten their characteristics. Particularly, the main girl character - Hye-Won. She was previously shown as calculative and cold. She could see far into the future, so she decided to bank on in ha instead of anyone else. (valid. Get that big money girl.) And now??? While looking for Tae-ho?? She's just out and about in her own car, with her whole face out, not hiding AT ALL. And asking her MONEY-HUNGRY mother to HELP her????? AND THEN GETTING CONFUSED WHEN SHE GETS KIDNAPPED BY HER HUSBAND?? EXCUSE ME MA'AM, HE TRIED TO KILL YOU JUST NOW? DO YOU NOT REMEMBER? ARE YOU NOT TAKING PRECAUTIONS? Bro. literally wtf? I thought you were smart? As soon as I saw her strapped to the bed, I paused the episode and came here to rant.
#i might be entirely wrong#the next episodes and the existing tumblr discourse might make me feel dumb but i had to say what i thought#the impossible heir#impossible heir spoilers#impossible heir ep 9

Does anyone else feel like putting their boyfriend in a snow globe and shaking him vigorously? (I'm obviously not serious)

I like that there's more complexity to the villains in the show, unlike the webtoon, but im not sure how well this whole su min + abandoning mother + ex-fiance gang-up storyline is going to play out. There are still 4 more episodes I think, so the pace better not be a sloppy and broken-down story from here on out. (fingers crossed)

i love that they're allowing jiwon to cry and cry and cry. despite knowing her best friend and boyfriend will hurt her a million times over, seeing it happen still hurts. and so she cries. "i decided to fight" and it's okay if your preferred outcome hurts you. the show is allowing such nuance to exist and take up space and i really commend them for that
#1000% agreed#it really drives home the fact that she's not a nasty person#that at the end of the day she just wants to be happy and stay healthy#marry my husband

Two K-dramas one after another about time travel and revenge marriage shenanigans and yet one of them is objectively better. I liked both because the main girlies were smart and calculative when required. But "Marry My Husband" easily trumps "Perfect Revenge Marriage". While both plots rely significantly on the male interest's passion for helping the main girlie, the former has more build-up and therefore makes more sense. Also, I guess I just love/hate the acting of the villain in Marry My Husband. I can't put into words how badly I want to throttle her. 10/10 villain, no notes.
But revenge was all about the main girlie being a good and wholesome person etc etc whatever whatever. I don't care. I want a badass woman who kicks names and takes asses. Which I think Marry My Husband does wayyy better

I don't know if everyone will agree with me. But I really want to talk about this. I love Bertha. She is one of the most compelling characters. But, she's made out to be smarter and more principled than she is in reality.
The reasons are as follows :
When has she ever solved a big problem on her own? Yeah, she is calculative and sly. But each of her victories has to do, in part or even sometimes as a whole, with her husband's money/power/influence. Which isn't inherently weak, but definitely isn't a result of her power.
Why is so oblivious about her husband's power? I believe Bertha is made successful not by her husband's money, but more because of his devotion to her. What I find most aggravating about Bertha, is that despite being touted as a "worldly-wise" and smart person, she truly believes that her problems have truly disappeared when her husband says so?
Why does she (most probably) promise her daughter to the Prince/Duke/English Title Man (I've forgotten what he is). This woman's entire success is based on her husband's devotion. Even her husband (who isn't a gem) differentiates between business and family - leaving the nasty robber baron persona at the office. This woman just promised her daughter to a greedy man who wants their money. So yeah, Big Yikes. She's not a great person. Compelling character ofc, can't wait to see what she does in the next season. But if I had a mother like that, I'd cry myself to sleep every night.

Names-optional social media is so funny because I have made deep and meaningful friendships with so many people while having no fucking idea what their names are.
Like yes this is my dear beloved friend, my mutual, partner in many DMs, discord chats, calls, I’m planning a wistful summer roadtrip where I visit them across the country. Their name :)? That’s easy. It’s <inanimate object which is the first word of their URL>

IT'S PLOT BUNNY TIME AGAIN
Two wizards/goblins/whatever fantasy creatures.
they fall in love while going on a quest, and the last challenge of the quest needs them to give up their memories. Basically: "if you're looking for XYZ object, your desire for it should be bigger than your memories. even if you forget its value, it should matter to you"
so before doing that last challenge, they both write letters to themselves explaining that they love each other etc. etc. and they forget and get the treasure.
then a month later, back in their normal lives, they both start getting letters from themselves about this random person they're supposed to love.
and they have like a cute romcom cut with scenes from their treasure hunt.
