Feleci (Mentiens Felis)

Anatomy & Biological Traits

Feleci are a species that look similar in terms of body shape to Earth’s cat. They usually range from 22-30 in. in height and 50 inches in length (without tail), and the average weight is 32-38 lbs. They have four eyes that are usually shades of dark blues, greens, and purples, which aid in seeing in low light as they are nocturnal predators. Uncommon eye colors are bright greens, blues, reds, oranges, and yellows. All eye colors are linked to coat colors. 

They have two tails and four ears. The tails help with communicating with other feleci and balance, and the ears help in hearing and tracking down prey. These ears are quite large, the top two about ¾ of the head size and the bottom two being ¼ of the head size.

The average lifespan of a felec is 12-15 years. These species are quite intelligent, able to craft things out of stone, wood, and clay, and can create fires. They also have organized groups called ‘clowders’. They usually have long limbs to help them run.

They range in a variety of body shapes and sizes, and are equally as diverse in coat color. 

Reproduction and Genetics

Feleci are social animals, and being alone without any other members of its species can drive one to depression. They work in groups to survive, and rely on each other. It is shown that feleci tend to have very strong connections with each other, and tend to be protective of those they care about most. In clowders, kinders will be raised by the whole clowder, but the biological parents of the kindle will be the main caretakers of their kindle. 

It is unknown how Feleci reproduce, but it’s speculated they reproduce as most other species on the planet do - using a magic ritual including both future parents and complete consent from both parties.

Growth Rate & Stages

It takes a felec 2 years to grow to full adulthood. For the first half-moon of a kinder’s life, their eyes are closed. For this moon, the kinder's eyes will slowly open as well as their ear canals. During the next half moon, the kinder learns how to talk, walk, and do other basic things. Usually by 2.5 -3 moons the kinder knows how to play games, comprehend things, and run/play with other kinders. At 8-24 moons, the felec learns how to hunt, fight, heal, craft things, ect. This is basically the ‘teenager’ phase of feleci. And then they’re full grown adults. They’re adults now. idk.

Ecology & Habitats

Feleci are kind of good in all habitats, as their evolution allows them to adapt easily. That’s about it yeah

Dietary Needs & Habits

Feleci are mesocarnivores, and they much prefer meat over plants. While they will still eat plants and most clowders grow crops, they much prefer meat over anything else. 

Social Structures

For the feleci, they have these groups called clowders. In a clowder there are usually 10-30 feleci, but it is not uncommon to see clowders of 40-50. They are very protective of their own territory, and will defend them with their lives. Being alone is not desirable, as most feleci will die if they are left alone. Feleci will exile others from their clowders sometimes, but it is uncommon. 

Clowder Structure

Each clowder has 1-3 ‘leaders’, which are mainly called the head/monarch/crown/sovereign. In clowders with 2-3 leaders, they are usually mates, but not always. Most clowders will address their leader(s) using their role title and then their name, or using lady/sir/vire, then their name. They are the ones who take care of the clan and make sure everyone is doing well.

The rank below them relies on the size of the clowder. These feleci are called the seconds/court/council, and there can be anywhere from 1-6 feleci in this role, depending on the size of the clowder. Most will have 4-5. 

Healers/medics/menders are the next in line, being the healers and therapists of the clowder. They have higher authority than most other feleci due to being very important in clowder structure because of their healing and therapy role. 

The next are the ‘adults’ of the clowder, who usually have a multitude of roles that work together in some way. They are responsible for training the younger feleci, and hold the clowder together. 

There are then trainees/cadets/interns, who are feleci who are in between the ages of 8-24 moons and are training for a role that is either healer, or another role in their clowder. 

Kinders and elders are the lowest role, and they are the ones taken care of in the clowder. Elders are generally more respected than kinders, but kinders are valued in clowders as well.

Culture

Feleci value themselves and those around them. It is taught in most clowders that it is very important to take care of oneself, and self-neutrality and/or self-acceptance is very important. It is also taught to value friendships, partners, and family (whether found or biological). Feleci have very tight bonds with each other. 

Their main set of beliefs include The Being. (expanded on more in separate sections of each geographical location of the clowders, because they each have their own cultures and practices)

Domestication

Feleci are not domesticated, and there are no plans to have them domesticated. Their needs are far too great for Aetersi homes to provide. 

Facial Features

Feleci mainly express emotions through their mouths and ears. Ears and mouths are the main way they’ll talk and communicate with other feleci.

Average Intelligence

Feleci are very intelligent creatures. They know how to hunt and fight in complex ways, craft things out of wood, stone, and plants, grow crops, heal using a variety of herbs and plants, and know how to fight with basic weapons such as knives, daggers, and spears. Recently, they are able to make fire. 

Perception & Sensory Capabilities

Feleci, in order to navigate the nighttime, have night vision. They also have a strong sense of smell and hearing.

Naming Traditions

Kinders are named when they are 3 moons old, because then they have some sort of personality. They are named with a single name, with no suffix (so White, Thrush, Tawny, ect.) this remains when they become cadets/trainees/interns. When they become adults, they either gain a suffix or a prefix (so Drift could become Drifttail or Eagledrift, although the former is much more common). Feleci are not tied to their names, and changing one’s own name is not uncommon. 

Courtship + Relationship Ideals

Monogamy and polyamory are both common in feleci. They often give each other gifts such as prey, herbs, flowers, and stuff they’ve crafted. When the time has come to get ‘married’ (this is called matrimony in feleci), the two feleci stand in front of the rest of the clowder they reside in (if any), and say vows to each other. They are usually adorned in flowers of their choice. Feleci divorce happens too, if a couple wishes to break off their relationship they just, can. The relationship is usually equal, and they take care of their kindles equally as well.

Mate = boyfriend/girlfriend

Courter = Husband/wife

Courtship = equivalent to ‘they are married’ = ‘they are in a courtship’

One of the other clowders that lives with Palm Clowder is Bay Clowder (return of Bay Clowder)! There will be 4 clowders altogether, two will be generated and two will be made from scratch

Is this the 'main' story of the clowders? No! Not even close, they don't even live on the same continent , they're just some funky guys we want to do while we work on the main story

Also i changed Roachear's name to Fawnpool and Slugnose's name to Redhollow . For reasons (they're both trans and they both have deadnames + Fawnpool's suffix has to be pool because lead healer)

DD - Non-dilute Dd - Non-dilute, carrying dilute dd - Dilute  ( Black → blue, Taupe → caramel, Mocha → lilac, Russet → feldspar, Amber → cream, Carnelian → cinnamon. Russet-amber, russet-carnelian, and amber-carnelian dilutes become the dilute color of whatever color’s first [so russet-amber would become feldspar, amber-carnelian would become cream, ect.)

Another Clan Generator challenge but it will not stay a clan it'll become a Clowder and Kie swear we'll actually get it done this time /lh

Uhhh this is Palm Clowder! They live in a palm tree forest, and they know how to crack coconuts open because it'd be funny and uh, idk they mostly eat fish and crabs and the occasional seabird

Kie purposefully chose them to be quite small, because Kie wanted a story about it

Palm Clowder has always been small, they don't have large litters of kits (like maybe 1-3.. that's it) and they consider that to be normal, as they have too much work to do to manage a larger Clowder.

As the competent and realistic, they don't fight with the other clowders within their area. They prefer to settle things with words rather than claws.

The red gene is definitely not just us stealing the extension gene from real cats and putting it as one of the base colors for feleci
