So if you remember the pink vs green → octoling vs inkling post on my page, buckle up because we're back into this theorizing and what Side Order plays into that theory. If you haven't seen that post, I'd recommend checking it out for better comprehension.

So. We're back in Inkopolis Square. Splatoon 2's main theme, as I've discussed it, was octoling vs inkling. We had Off the Hook, the game's colors were green and pink, and we got to play as an octoling, who managed to change how former agent 3 viewed octarians, from their agent formation. Splatoon 2 ended with a proof that you can change, and you can actually learn if you're not hostile. It also ended with showing that defeat doesn't mean we have to be in bad terms, with the Finalfest.

Now let's look at our spire of order. It takes place in Inkopolis Square, but every color has been lost. Inkopolis Square doesn't represent green vs pink anymore, it's every color vs black, nothingness quite literally. And in order to win against Order (lol), you combine EVERY color together, and that's what Marina's talking about. Sometimes it creates a beautiful rainbow, as in !!!! Anarchy Rainbow, an inkling, an octoling, and a non inkfish. It is an absolute harmony that chaos brought, and she changed her ways. Octolings are no longer the enemy, and we can finally rest from fighting. Octavio found peace at heart and became our ally, and now Marina's speech fully concludes what Return of the Mammalians started. I think that's a great ending for that storyline that were those three games.

Also this has nothing to do with pink vs green, but to theorize about the next game (I'm half sure there'll be one), there's still those mysteries about Lil Judd, and ??? I still think we need to know what happened of Agent 4, and I truly think Side Order hugely teased that (Pearl not knowing who that is, Smollusk under appreciating them etc). Also maybe less important but I can't be the only one curious about Eight memory lmao.

Thanks for letting me know !! Interesting choice btw imo, I had a whole theorizing ab Acht's they/them pronouns potentially meaning more than just a gender identity but Cipher's pronouns do make me think we're drifting away from referring to characters as "sentient" and more animal, and woah I've got so much to say LMAO.

Also it seems their English name is Cipher. I really really like their design and hope we'll have somewhat of a Haikara Walker, for Side Order, giving us lore kinda like it did with Iso Padre yk.

Reoccurring 8 theme all over octo expansion because of the octopus/octoling focus even showing on the 8ball trials.

∞ symbol, for the replayability focus and maybe ?? The spire of order is an infinite universe in constant expansion ??

I'd also like to point out it seems to be a digital world and so we can't entirely ever destroy it maybe ?? Theorizing how the dlc will last after we defeat it hihi

HELLO FELLOW SPLATLANDIAN, LITTLE "COLOR THEORY" LESSON HERE

In today's episode ? The symbolism of the green//pink theme in Splatoon

Okay so it all goes back to the great turf war. It seems to have been the first ever color picked, representing octolings vs inklings. We all obviously know that inklings won, pretty unfairly, and octos were pretty much forced to step back. Ever since, the green//pink and inkling//octo themes have been omnipresent in the Splatoon universe.

In Splat 1 comes Callie and Marie. They are not opposed as octo vs inkling, yet pick a side in a Splatfest (Octopus vs Squid, won by Callie, on the 10th of October 2015, Squid side), and end up opposing to each other, as Callie vs Marie. The outcome is clear, Marie wins, Callie is sad about it, and joins her pink theme by joining the octo troups (I'd REALLY like to know how the pink//green theme would've been handled if she won). So yeah, the Squid Sisters give us a continuity that Splatoon 2 MASSIVELY used LOL.

So let's continue with Off The Hook, shall we ?

First of all, can I point out the fact the colors are not the exact same bright pink and green we knew this far ? Yes ? Alright thanks. MARINA RAN AWAY !!! SO SHE'S GREEN !!! You have no idea how I love the entirety of these colors symbolism, reader. But yep, Marina is obviously green because she rejects her past, as seen in the Octo Expansion logs. Also, her color ressembles very slightly sanitization. A mutation. You following me this far ? I find Pearl being pink actually adorable, her color isn't THIS muted. It fits Marina, and also implies hey, no octoling racism here. Zamn this making me tearful.

Continuation to the green//pink linked to squid//octopus is this. I REALLY love the possible yin yang reference with the shirts btw. We think inklings are so good and perfect, but maybe there's evil within them, to the opposite of octolings, who are actually not as mean as depicted by Craig. I'll also point out the inkling in the poster is smiling, fist clenched, confidently, as the octoling is a bit less self assured, looking concentrated. The need to win for their nation, teehee okay sorry I'm reaching :3

Oh you knew it was coming you DEFINITELY knew. Yup. Agent 24. To me they sign the end of this stupid "inkling vs octoling" war. 3 first saves 8, 8 then saves 3 and Craig (And Inkopolis but yeah LMAO.) To me it really means "This is where we end the fight", 3 sees the potential in 8, and doesn't see them as an enemy nor a threat, but a partner (NOT ROMANTICALLY SPECIFICALLY, you ship who you want, but they do seem like they respect each other). Splatoon 3 doesn't return with pink//green, or inkling//octoling. We can play an octoling, who fights octolings, to protect octolings. Our ink is just yellow, we fight non octo bosses. We fight along Octavio. The band is red, yellow and blue, the primary colors. Harmony, although their principal song's called Anarchy Rainbow. All colors mixed together :'0

I think THAT is why they don’t sell pants: would be a very split market between 2 legs vs 6 “legs”…Still, I want inkling pants…and different hairstyles…

The Splatoon start-up screen finally nudged me to try low poly scene/assets.

Would have been cool if Splatoon had player rooms where they could show off trophies, clothing, and such, maybe some Animal Crossing-lite customization the room; like Pokemon Ruby/Sapphirs’ Secret Bases? Just pure speculation haha

This scene obviously, would consume far more than the 4 kb of texture memory in the N64.(This is why I prefer N64 inspired, as opposed to 100% technically accurate) But still, its fun to assign limited, but flexible limitations to a hobby. I may do another environment in the future, not necessarily from Splatoon, but in general.

Took a some liberties due to the 90s: -Laptops, mp3 players, and smart phones either did not exist or were relatively new and not readily available to the public. I went with the closest equivalent tech :P

Splatoon 3 is wild because imagine if you were living in Japan due to a recent economic and cultural boom, and suddenly a space shuttle with a mutant house-sized T-rex riding it suddenly burst from the center of Mt. Fuji and disappeared into space without explanation, and all you ever find out about what the fuck that was about is that Zuckerburg mysteriously disappeared the same day and was never seen again, but still "officially" ran Meta through an open secret Queen-Elizabeth-being-in-good-health gaslighting campaign, and everybody kind of suspected he may have been connected but never figured out anything conclusive.

Also the T-rex is now orbiting the earth in the fetal position like the guy from Jojo, and there are rumors of a substance that, if touched, turns you into a half-dinosaur monster. Nobody understands any of this but Meta employees just keep going to work and pretending Zuck still exists. The same 12 prerecorded voicelines constantly squak from the PA system.

Oddly, the statue in front of Meta HQ of a T-rex eating a human changes overnight into one of a giant human eating a tiny T-rex. Nobody noticed the switch, despite the statue being in a constantly bustling area. It happened shortly after the shuttle incident.

Jack Black's tiny clone, Lil' Jack, now wears a headset at all times and has been acting really shady since the incident. Also they're both hyperintelligent, immortal velociraptors found in an ancient cryogenic chamber who spend their days judging college football and eating the legally harvested flesh of hillbillies. Lil' Jack is probably plotting to kill Big Jack, but Big Jack doesn't seem to care, growing fat and lazy, sleeping on public benches in a bed of throw pillows. Also, he's very open about the fact that, as a velociraptor, humans look delicious, but he hasn't actually eaten anybody aside from the aforementioned hillbillies because he's civil.

Everyone is just expected to move on with their lives after this. This is normal to you.

The local art school was recently attacked by giant sea serpents, which were actually hideously bioengineered hillbillies, fulfilling a biblical doomsday prophecy, and they were driven back by Meta's army of minimum wage, part time child soldiers armed with warcrimey jury-rigged weaponry. The sea serpents had giant frying pans grafted into their mouths, which launched primitive tactical nukes made by filling garbage bags with their explosive blood. They still exist, and occasionally defend their comrades, but spend most of their time in the deep sea.

The local homeless emo twink everyone's attracted to is a closet millionaire who sells bootleg clothing in exchange for live rats, which he messily devours behind closed doors. He's also 8 feet tall and British and only has one eye.

North Korean refugees now flood the western world, after a greasy 14 year old hipster, under the guidance of Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift, beat Kim Jong Un in a mech battle, and the EDM remix of the Japanese national anthem they performed caused like half the soldiers to immediately realize North Korea sucks ass and defect. One of these individuals, 7 foot tall hypergenius, becomes a newscaster alongside a nepo baby rapper with dwarfism who likes to eat entire jars of mayo, and also they're a popular band. Also also, they may or may not be gay. Almost the entire population is gay, so this isn't a huge deal.

The new local newscasters are a famous Japanese lion tamer, an Indian girl with a bloodline trait allowing her to control snakes, and a Brazillian man the size of a smart car who exclusively communicates via grunts.

Gods, souls and zombies are objectively real, and you're effectively immortal because real-life respawning was invented a while ago. It works like a Keurig, but with mucus instead of coffee. Submersion in water kills you.

A good deal of the population is a hivemind. They pretend to be individuals for no reason.

Almost all men are now femboys.

Despite all this, you still have to go to work at 9 tomorrow.
