I had an intense weekend because I saw a very good friend for the first time in a long while. For years 1.5 decades, we had the most ordinary, mundane friendship, and we still do. We met and showed each other photos and talked about mundane stuff, but now, because of something that neither of us had much say in, we can no longer do this without a vague sense of dread that the consequences of choosing to meet might be higher than what anyone should ever have to deal with just for having a friend. I've been worried about this for a long time, and the worst part was seeing my friend and her s/o worry about it, too. Like, we meet here, in some remote town where neither of us lives and where nobody knows us, and we still worry that someone will take notice and draw the wrong conclusions about our friendship.

Anyway, now I'm reading this paragraph, and I realize I can't even convey my feelings properly, and it probably just sounds crazy. This is why I have trouble these days in the company of 'polite society' that hasn't had the same experiences. It always feels like I'm dealing with this existential thing, but I don't even know how to explain it, so I will just distract myself and pretend everything is fine, but it feels so fucking lonely.

Since I won't be reblogging the originals, I feel like I now need to clarify I've moved to a reasonably strict no interaction with people I know are minors policy on tumblr because it's probably the best option for me. I'm so glad I made my peace with the Homelander plot in S4 because everything happening with The Boys is a shitshow, and I will simply be ignoring it entirely. This will only be a Homelander season for me.

Annie deserves SO MUCH BETTER than losing a fight against her own rapist, I- Eric, you better pass me your female characters right this moment or we got a problem, my guy.

As a Catholic, obviously huge fan of Annie and Frenchie being Catholics (even though a Catholic wouldn't be caught dead at Capes for Christ and Believe, that's def a more evangelical Protestant thing).

The Annie x Hughie thing I will simply not acknowledge. They are happy in my heart, and they will always be together. I don't give a fuck.

New potentially shitpost-worthy theory while prostategate 2024 is still in full swing, but I want to submit it for medical review on your blog first since I don't have a clue about this one: maybe Homelander *does* have prostatitis, but it's because Butcher has been careless and has been fucking him wrong. Maybe Butcher's been like, "well, he's a supe, what could possibly go wrong?" And then, of course, everything goes wrong. What does your inner Stannis say? Any chance?

I think it’s as realistic as any HL-actually-suffers-from-some-malady plot for a fic. I don’t know that doing something in the bedroom is likely to cause prostatitis… unless it’s passing along an STI that spreads up and down the entire system. Seems like common causes are UTIs or my old favorite, autoimmune disease.

Anyway, will read regardless of if it makes “medical sense”, so if his prostate goes into overdrive from being improperly assaulted, so be it. I’m here for the emotions and the trauma, personally. Not for my medical education 🙂

Homelander and mirrors

I'm going to make a post with all the mirrors on the penthouse floor we can see because some are obvious and well-known in the fandom, but some are not, and some genuinely puzzle me.

The Mirrorlander mirror -- no comment, we all know it

5. The ONE mirror that freaks me out because I'm trying to figure out what its purpose is It's actually just glass, not a mirror, but I still don't understand what its purpose is. Preventing HL from falling off the stairs?

Those were all I spotted. There may be more. But I'm really just interested in the last one because unless Homelander wants to be able to see what's around the corner/in the hallway behind the wall without actually looking, it makes no sense.

We've known this all along, but the books on display in Homelander's penthouse are purely decorative. For instance, he's got three copies of volume 3 of 1956's All England Law Reports, four copies of volume 1 for 1963, etc.

THE SEVEN MEETING ROOM:

Is there a giant Homelander statue with raised arms on the outside of the 99th floor of Vought Tower?

There is a Homelander statue where Stan Edgar slams his booze in S3 (and I never even noticed it!):

That said, does Homelander even live on 99? Doesn't look like he does to me:

Does he keep booze in his penthouse for guests? Is he being sentimental about his relationship with Maeve? Did he add it for her and now can't get rid of it again? Or does he drink himself after all?

I still really want to know where this leads to (presumably the same place as the flag door?):

I still have no idea what these are, but I'm going to go all out and say it's the closest thing to toys and trophies Homelander allows himself to have in his room. He never had them during his childhood, and his self-image doesn't allow him to have them now, but this is the next best thing; it fits with the overall theme of his penthouse but is still half hidden:

I'm glad the show makers finally addressed the fact that if it wasn't for his super durable suit, he would be naked every time after flying at very high speeds.

Based on their visuals, I still don't see how the eagles are fastening his cape to his suit.

Okay, a couple of thoughts on each of these (though not a whole lot of answers):

1. The view in the second shot from the trailer (the one with A-Train you screenshotted) suggests that is exactly where he is because it's got the windows on his right and the wall behind his back. BUT the details in the shrine shot when A-Train picks up the pube jar are wrong (red walls, surface of the drawer, etc.). So unless HL redecorated (which is possible), it is somewhere else.

2. Additional question: What is hanging on his suit rack?? Is that a brown towel?? Is there a table on the very left of the picture? That is new, I think.

3. No clue, but I vote toilet. That would still be the most appropriate. Other than my strong belief, there is zero evidence for this though.

4. We still don't know. I still vote library based on my headcanons and the concept art I can't find anymore.

5. I'm gonna go investigate what those things are now.
