I wonder why spirits are always so intimidated by Colby. Its a very interesting topic aswell as the topic of him dealing with "paranormal hangovers" and intrusive thoughts after videos. I wish one day they'd go deeper into this topic but they probably never will. I wonder if the intrusive thoughts he has are about hurting others/himself or just like really weird and scary stuff

It's funny, cause sometimes people will infer that the spirits are wildly intimidated by him, and other times, it's inferred that the spirits really like/are drawn to him.

I chalk it up to this: he's a very intense person and gives off quite a bit of energy. He's like one of those bug lights, and people are just drawn in, like moths. It seems to me like more often than not, he radiates protective energy - protective of himself, protective of others around him - and maybe some energies are going to see that and be comforted.

Others will take it as a challenge, or a threat.

(The above can be said for anything and everything under the sun, not just the dead)

He had mentioned in one of their videos that one of his intrusive thoughts was ***and this is not in a suicidal way so please please please people out there: don't go running to tiktok to start some dumb tiktok shit with this sentence god please thank you carry on*** jumping off the ledge of a building they were on at the time, so I assume that's, more often than not, the direction those thoughts go in for him. Although, who knows. He doesn't talk about it, really, like he doesn't talk about anything he thinks or feels during this videos because that would interest me and he HATES ME lol.

Ive seen alot of people say that Colby used to be bullied for how he eats which is why he doesn't like to eat infront of the camera but I've never heard him say that before. Do you know where he could've said it?

I don't recall him ever saying that or even alluding to it, though he's said so much random crap through the years that it's hard to remember all the little nuances that make up the general Colbyness of Colby Brock at this juncture.

He does make it a point to cover his mouth when he eats (which I appreciate 🤣), but that just seems like a case of good manners and politeness than anything else, really.

anyway hi i know it’s been awhile since i’ve popped into your inbox but other interests have taken priority and snc have definitely taken a backseat. in fact i only just watched their most recent video a couple of days ago so the fact that they’re about to post again so soon is messing with my head lol. i have no idea who the ha sisters are though which is odd because usually most of the people they collab with i’m at least vaguely aware of but yeah im still interested to see how it goes. 🤷‍♀️

i was surprised i liked their bringing a stranger ghost hunting video so much. brooke was a natural! but watching snc be one of those tiktok guys asking people questions was definitely off putting since i hate that type of content. that’s partially why i put off watching their most recent video. the other part being them recently talking about taking a huge group of youtubers ghost hunting. they’re leaning into the mr beast content and i hate to see it truly. their airbnb video actually wasn’t as bad as i feared it to be although i think the fact that these airbnbs are so strongly advertised as haunted just makes me extra skeptical of the places as a whole.

And hey, you aren't the only one - between my work life, all the traveling I was doing in the spring (I was home a total of 9 days in the month of May, whoops), other interests and just....life getting in the way (as it does), I had a whole spell where I basically forgot snc existed. I did see the episode with the 3 airbnb's but it took me like 2 weeks to get to it...and to be honest, I don't think I ever did watch the one with the stranger, or the one before that.

Thankfully, they never post anything so my being out of the loop for weeks at a time doesn't cause me to miss much lol.

Anyway, I do think this Mr. Beast style concept of taking a mix of seasoned vets to the ghost hunting biz and totally random youtubers (how did the Try Guys get involved in that whole thing?) is an interesting concept and I hope it translates well but I also am concerned that their ideas are getting too big for youtube - and maybe they know that, too. Maybe things like this are all bids to be the next youtubers to jump to a streaming platform. They do share a management team with Mr. Beast, after all. It wouldn't surprise me that they are taking a page out of his playbook. 🤷‍♀️

What do you think about how oversexualized Colby is? Aswell as how often his friends would mention putting Colby in their video for views and aswell as trying to get "good clips" of him for the fan girls? It cant be just me who thought that was a little weird. I mean I wouldn't like it if my friends did that. Also what do you think about people who make sad edits of Sam and Colbys life?

I'm going to answer the last thing first, just to keep you all on your toes.

The sad edits are funny to me. I like those ones where it's like, "Hey Colby, do you think in another universe, I didn't survive breaking my back?" And then Sam is a ghost or whatever. Those are so phenomenally childish and stupid that when I come across them, I just laugh. They're like terrible fanfics fit into 30 second edits.

Here's the thing (side tangent incoming): I am an old school fandom person. I came up in the days when there was an impenetrable fortress built between fandom works - such as fanfics and edits and meta works, head canons, shipping etc - and the person/media you were "stanning." I vividly remember the first time someone mentioned the word fanfic at a Supernatural convention. That person got booed by the rest of the crowd and was persona non-grata on LiveJournal after that.

Fandom was fandom and the subject of said fandom was adamantly Not Allowed Past The Fortress Walls.

Cut to 2025 and people are out here making solby edits and tagging Sam, Colby and Malia in them, making shipping edits about Colby and the Holy Trinity and fighting about which one he looked best with and again - tagging him and Malia in it (wanna know why he unfollowed Stas and Amber? Maybe look to shit like that for your answer lol), gleefully telling Colby all about the rpg they are in where they had rpg Colby get rpg Tara Yummy pregnant, making edits of the guys dying and becoming ghosts that haunt the other and asking them to please watch and comment on it, making Satrina edits and tagging them both in it when they've moves on years ago, sending them links to wattpad fanfics of themselves...the fortress has fallen. No, the fortress was torn apart by the people who were living behind it and now they're out there just...throwing every little bit of formerly private fandom media and literature at these people for notices without thinking for a second that maybe Sam and Colby don't want to watch themselves die set to "The Night We Met" or want to read about themselves in some horribly written omegaverse fic (is there omegaverse snc out there? I'm almost scared to ask) or get NSFW fanart of them on their public Instagram wall.

Anyway, all this to say: I find the concept of taking this medium that used to be private and very much behind the curtain and posting it in the hopes that Sam or Colby comment on it and go, "Wow sncfangrl4eva3456, thanks for inventing a universe where I died from this thing that happened to me, beautiful and haunting tribute to my love for my bff," objectively hilarious.

As far as the people who would use Colby for views goes: he referenced that enough times in the past that I think he harbored a deep rooted resentment for being used like that for a long time, but only recently seemed to realize that he can set boundaries and cut people out of his life who weren't in his life for anything outside of clout, and I'm happy for him on that front. He really was the thumbnail king of 2017-2022. There were some people who would put him in thumbnails of videos he wasn't even in, that's how bad that was getting.

Notice how that doesn't seem to happen anymore. That's growth on his part. Good for him. That jelly spine of his finally got a little steel (said with love).

The oversexualization of Colby: I actually don't think it's nearly as bad as it used to be (a combination of having a girlfriend, thus making him unattractive to people who spent years looking at him as their stand-in boyfriend, and simply never posting himself doing anything anymore will do the trick), but that was definitely an issue back in the day.

And Colby himself - as desperately insecure and seeking validation as he often was - didn't seem to mind some of the out of pocket comments as long as they were funny and flirty and not creepy, so in a way, some of it was encouraged. His friends knew he didn't mind some of it and wouldn't put up a stink even if he did mind, so a lot of that was just them all playing into the narrative as well.

I think he was more annoyed and fed up with the death threats, the rampant shipping and then slut shaming of him and every human being he came into contact with, and the getting canceled for putting his left foot before his right, than he was about people calling him hot or saying they'd want to do [insert sexual thing here] with him. So, most of it was good natured.

Some shit, though - wow. Some of the shit back in the day bordered on sexual harrassment, you ask me. Some of the things people said and did towards him (fans and real life friends) really did paint him as this object that was there just to be hot and live up to their fantasies and sometimes it was taken way over a line.

Anyway, I think (although I don't keep up with what people are saying across platforms anymore, maybe I'm wrong) that it has calmed down considerably in recent years, and now he's just mostly known as that guy from Sam and Colby, which is probably fine by him 🤣.

Which out of Sam and Colby do you think is more private about their life and or past?

My friend, I'm going to be honest with you - I had a really well written, witty, funny, heart warming, New York Times style response fully typed up for this.

I hit "post" and tumblr full on threw a hissy fit, glitched, refused to post it, then deleted everything I wrote and didn't even save it as a draft.

I'm too tired to write it all back out again. It was beautiful. You all would've cried. Oh, what could've been!

Anyway, tl;dr: It used to be Sam. Now it's Colby.

I say the above with the caveat that both parties have kept different areas of their personal lives private over the years, which is totally fine. But Colby used to be more of an open book than I think he realized (granted, with some chapters heavily redacted) and now that book is sealed up and buried under layers of concrete, most likely due to just being sick to death of everyone picking at his bones like vultures all the time, mixed with his desire to respect Malia's desire for privacy.

Sam, meanwhile, was historically very tight lipped about showing any aspect of his life or personality that didn't slot neatly into a youtube video (that includes his relationship with Kat but that's another story for another day), but has since gone on a philosophical journey of self discovery that he has, for whatever reason, decided to be a little more open about.

So, yeah. I don't think either one of them was as open as people thought they were, but I'd say historically we all knew Colby and his life and struggles far more than we've known Sam - and now Sam is halfheartedly (cause he still wants his privacy, you know) making up for lost time in that department.
