i really love how arcane emphasized how traumas and mental disorders and dysfunctional relationships can all stem from one little thing. there’s a profound kind of unfairness in it. just a million what-ifs. what if they never broke into jayces penthouse? what if powder left the gems? what if vi never tried to turn herself in? all of those things, some big and some small, created the environment for all of that shit to go down. i think we see vi and jinx really internalize all of those what-ifs. the constant turning it over and over in their heads of all the things they could’ve done differently but didn’t. i think it really encapsulates a big part of trauma. the guilt and the blame and the regret. jinx’s “it was a mistake” and vi’s “i should’ve been here” are great examples. both of them carry around a shit ton of guilt and deal with it in violent ways. what if they didn’t? what would that change? i just really love arcanes emphasis on how trauma changes you as a person and how trauma is often a result of preventable circumstances.
