Why calling 2012 RenetAngelo "pedophilia" is problematic

Was I inactive for 2 years here and come back with a rant?

Yes but I NEED to get this off my chest because it really starts to trigger me and I can't stand it anymore.

2012 RenetAngelo is NOT a Pedophilia Relationship and calling it such is an issue.

People call it ""pedophilia"" because on paper Mikey is older than Renet but the reality is far far more complex.

Here's why:

Time Traveling is complex

Like in all media, Time Traveling in TMNT 2012 is insanely complex. While Mikey would be 15 years in his Time Era, if he would travel from his current time to the future…. he's still 15 years. In Season 4 the Turtles travelled 6 months… they're still 15 years even though they hypothetically would be 14,6years.

In Season 4 they're canonically still 15 years. Same for Renet, she's 15-17 years in her Time era but stays 15-17 years even when she's literally billion years in the past.

Even if both are adults...Mikey always would be at least 100 years older.

(Funny how nobody would say anything if Adult Renet would meet Adult Mikey)

(People love adult 1000year old Werewolf dating a 20year old but adult Turtle having an adult future wife would be problematic?)

Other point against the "pedophilia" thing:

2012 Renet is a mess:

Renet in the 2012 version has one of (if not the) least amount of canon information of all TMNT 2012 characters. We've literally nothing about her. No Age, no Living Place, No Backstory…we don't even know why tf she has a Dagger. Only things we know are that she's from the future, an apprentice and probably left-handed (what's really just a detail notice) In previous version it's possible for Time-Lords to be from the past but brought to another dimension or the future…why wouldn't it be possible with 2012 Renet? Example from the Mirage(or IDW?): Lord Gnostis is from 512 BC while Lord Cekini Garvan is from 2113 AD, both living in the 79th Dimension of Null-Time. 2012 Renet could be born in the same Time Era as the Turtles but brought to the future, again, we've no information about this. Speaking of Null-Time. Every previous Renet version, she always was from a different Dimension. And since again, we've no information, 2012 Renet could be similar to Bishop where she can jump between Dimensions where the main Place for the Dimensions Earth (or something) Time-Lords is the Future. The Null-Dimension has no Time. 2012 Renet gives us Freedom to make her however we want her until we get actually information. There is weird sentences of Renet saying she needed 6-months to find the Turtles, what could hint that Renet is not always in the Earth Dimension or on Earth but the 2012 Time-line is so messed up it just could be a script error.

Being from the future doesn't need to mean born in the future.

Why is it problematic to call this ship a "Pedophilia Relationship"

1, Pedophilia Relationship are a form of Abusive Relationship! Calling RenetAngelo Abusive is just downrights terrible.

2. The word "pedophilia" & "pedophile" is misused way way too often nowadays and people don't take it seriously anymore.

I see way to people call a relationship between a 15 year old and a 16-17 year old "pedo", even when these two grew up together and went to the same school and such.

Given not only pedophilia the wrong meaning but also giving minors more insecurity about relationships.

Further more, the word pedophile implies a mental illness (which is one (ICD per WHO)) which NEEDS medical attention since it's an impulsive disorder.

Calling Michelangelo, a minor, a Pedophile let's people think that relationship between minors in the same age group can be considered pedophilia...no.

"But people won't.." Welcome to the Internet, where people call you the people believe anything on it.

3. Regarding the mental disorder stuff:

Like said, Pedophilia is classified as an Disorder falling under ICD-10 which needs medical attention.

As standing in Wikipedia for popular usage however (best source I know):

" In popular usage, the word pedophilia is often applied to any sexual interest in children or the act of child sexual abuse, including any sexual interest in minors below the local age of consent or age of adulthood, regardless of their level of physical or mental development. "

Mikey, when he talks to Renet, is a minor.

Renet is a minor too.

A true Pedophilia relationship includes sexual harassment from an older minor or adult.

There was never any harassment.

And yes, flirting with a minor can count as sexual harassment.

4. Calling the ship pedophilia is downplaying abuse.

Victim of groomer and pedophiles are victims of abuse, of r*pe, of gaslighting, of blackmail and so much more.

Calling a harmless ship, a harmless cartoon-ship between two minors pedophilia, completely downplays the problematic with pedophilia.

It downplays the abuse by calling cartoon two minors cuddling pedophilia.

Why is this so important to me, why am I so triggered by this?

I've been a victim of a groomer.

It was an just a chat/WhatsApp relationship...with a guy who flet from the police and has every recording of us Video chatting.

Who knows where I live.

Who has everything from me.

There is no closer to this case.

This guy is still out there, with any video-chat he recorded of us.

Every picture I gave to him after he blackmailed me.

Having anything that happened, every anxiety attack related to it, every fear of what happens when he finds me and more compared to RenetAngelo feels disheartening.

It's already hard enough to find people where don't downplay this situation.

Each Time I read when somebody calls this ship "Pedophilia" something in me breaks.

Every pain I had, every fear I have compared to something so harmless.

All because people wanna make problems when there are none.

Because they don't like a ship.

The TMNT Fandom needs to stop to make everything a problem.

Looking at the promotion/ Intro material from the Season 5 Monster Arc makes me think they planned something else.

And I got something in mind that I would've just LOVED.

Each of 4 Turtles got turned into a monster from Savanti or one of the monsters (see Promotion poster for their monster form.)

The 5 Girls (April, Karai, Shinigami, Renet & Mona) need to save them while trying to get along.

We don't know how Renet got trained to fight or if she taught it herself but we know that she's neither a Kunoichi nor a trained Soilder like Mona Lisa and we know how Karai & Shinigami can be as seen with April....so they simply can face the difficulty of not getting along well at beginning.

And we know that Karai isn't the biggest fan of Mona (& RaMona), so the both also can get into trouble with each other.

(Maybe Renet & Mona could've split up from the other three, I assume they could get along well.)

And while doing their save stuff thing we:

- Could've got an Episode where Shinigami & Renet meet and could talk about the whole badly written Mikey love story and getting a plot that makes at least a bit more sense .

- Can learn a bit more about Shinigami and/or Renet.

- Are having a Girl focused episode where they need to save the day & the boys (and not via versa) where Monsters are walking around?

GIVE ME IT KAKDNDNDJKSLSD.

- Shinigami gets more screentime.

Even better:

Renet, Shini & Mona could've gotten an almost equal amount.

Some claiming 2012 RenetAngelo as ""pedophilia"" just to have something to complain about or to make the show bad or because they simple hate the ship (bc. of Shiniangelo) or because they wanna always see the worst.

I even saw some people attacking others and saying their support pedophilia bc. they ship 2012 Renet & Mikey.

But here's the thing:

We NEVER had anything confirming that 2012 Renet is 100% BORN in the future and we know that past people can get into the future AND live there.

2012 TMNT Frankenstein is from the past LIVING IN THE FUTURE after the Monster Arc.

He is older than the Turtles despite living in the future.

+ The Turtles lived 16 years in the past for multiple days - half a year.🙃

So...why should it be 100% impossible that the same can apply to 2012 Renet when we literally don't have any information about her at all?

Why can't she be born in the past but got brought into Future through one way or another?

We had it sometimes in TMNT History that Time Lords got brought into another Dimension or Time Era and it was never stated that it is impossible for the 2012 version.

In conclusion:

2012 RenetAngelo DOESN'T need to be pedophilia and it isn't.

Preferring Shiniangelo is fine BUT claiming other supporting Pedophilia because they prefer RenetAngelo is just toxic and stupid.

Get a life people and don't always assume the worst.

"Tale of the Yokai" is one of TMNT 2012 best episodes (in my opinion) but timeline & logical wise one of the worst.

Story great, the rest is...not really good planned.

Three things

First:

The Turtles went back in time to save Splinter, it was their Destiny to save Hamato Yoshi.

But the Turtles wouldn't even exist if Splinter didn't left Japan in the first place.

Even more confusing, Renet is from the future but she's why the Turtles get stuck in the past.

But without the Turtles...the future wouldn't exist in that way, the Kraang would've been taken over.

If Renet wouldn't exist, Hamato Yoshi could also have died and the Turtles would have pets.

Now try to make any of that sense.

Second:

Another thing......wouldn't Shredder remember the Turtles?

Like Oroku Saki saw them and randomly forgot 4 `Yokai´ that look 1:1 like the Turtles?

And Tang Shen like...didn't said a word that she had the Turtles in her home...at all...to no one?

Third:

How long exactly were the in Japan?

Renet apparently searched for them 6 months but Raph just said days and it really seemd like just 3 days because it was just 2 times night (on screen).

But...Renet is from future of Earth...not Dimension X or any other.

How...just...just how?

Again, story wise the episode is good but someone apparently slept while making the script.

Still having the headcanon of Mona having 400 siblings.

[ The only reason I’m posting this here is that I posted already like 6 stories only about it on Insta and I don’t wanna spam too much…and I really love to talk about such kind of themes. ]

So…Real Life Y'Gythgba / Mona Lisa technical exist. This is a Ambystoma laterale [ Blue Spotted Salamander ], they’re mole salamander from Noth America and I find way too less about their behaviour but a lot about reproduction for some reason (if TMNT 2012 would be realistic…Mona would have like 400+ siblings) and yes, I found out about them just now. 

Also they eat mostly insects and invertebrates.

(I’ve randomly the picture in my head of Raph’s GF eating bugs and Raph just sitting there and wanna vomit but he wanna do of though in front of Mona (my English grammar is terrible tho)) 

I’ve so many headcanons now.

And since they’re amphibians they’re (incomplete (I think)) metamorphosis.

I’m imagine baby / child Mona now with ice-color like feather gills and absolutely nobody can change my mind on this one..I’m probably the only one but I don’t care..I like fluffy looking things on weird animals. And now I’m gonna draw Mona with feather gills.

Honestly, I personally would find a story with the Salamandrain Planet and the  metamorphosis-thing very interesting.

We always complain how less screen time the Girls aside (April & Karai) and Timothy had...

While we ignoring the fact this is the ONLY (!!!!) scene where we see Lord Simultaneous and otherwise just his head 2 times + a mention from Renet 2 seasons later.

We know and have absolutely NOTHING about him.

Not concept art or interview exist about Lord S....we don't even have a color scheme of his Uniform.

Only thing we can assume that he has the ability to ground Renet but we don't know if the have just a Teacher-Student relationship or maybe a adopt/Forster father - daughter relationship.

They just threw him in for nostalgia purpose only apparently.

Giving a "best at" to TMNT 2012 bc. I'm bored.

Before his mutation he took on Splinter AND LEATHERHEAD by himself.

Causally kicking Leatherhead away.

After his mutation tho....he took on the entire Mighty Mutanimals by himself.

Tho, relays more on strength than combat in the end.

Combat Skills:

Splinter or Leo.

Combat is hard to decide but I would choose either Splinter or Leo.

Splinter knows like...every single weapon and way more tactics than Shredder.

Leo by end of the show also has seen being extremely good within combats, defending Shredder

Teamwork :

Mighty Mutanimals.

Power:

Kavaxas

He's a Demon Dragon.

I don't need to say more.

Yes, Wyrm too but his power actually is usable against him as seen by Casey.

With Kavaxas...not so much.

Speed:

Alopex.

Just..Alopex.

Stamina:

Yes.

No fr. I can't decide.

The Turtles run for 2+ hours straight.

Alopex runs in high speed for a good distance.

Renet runs 300 meter upstairs + climbs 100 meter minus the way to even get there.

Casey is a Hockey Player and needs a good stamina.

Tiger Claw casually fights through all dimensions..and still fights the same day he returns.

So I just let this one open.

Intelligent:

The Fugitoid

He casually created a weapon that causes a Black Hole.

Is this explanation enough?

Teamwork :

Mighty Mutanimals.

They've been seeing fighting & planning closer/better together than the Turtles, having fewer arguments about the plan and solo member don't go randomly on suicide missions (cough Leo & Raph).

Weapon:

Renet

The Scepter is no doubt the strongest weapon.

Controlling the entirety of reality, changing history like you want, manipulate quaton and more...with.

I wanted also include the Triceratons...but Renet could just make a time-loop or travel back or make a time stop.

Bonus: Some most off

Deaths: Splinter, he "died" three times.

Trauma: All of the four brothers, especially Raph where just saw all of his fathers death.

Natural Talents: Mikey..this is actually canon lol.

Burning Kitchens: Leo...sorry this needed to be.

Exploding themself: Donnie...how is he not dead?

Electro-shocks: Donnie..again, how is he not dead?

This girl is maybe clumsy to a point of almost destroying history by accident but she has stamina as f*ck.

Unpopular Opinion I guess but:

Timothy didn't deserved anything that happened to him.

Yes, he was annoying but he never meant any harm what so ever and just wanted be like his heroes.

Heck, he didn't even stalked the Turtles, he just wanted be like them.

The Pulverizer was too naive or simply didn't knew why the Foot Clan was bad and what impact the Mutagene has.

And as Mutagene Men...he lost his mind to the mutagene.

At the end....he remains freezed and forgotten..never healed, never clear minded, never mention ever again after Season 2.

Donnie never kept his promise (even AFTER he had the knowledge on how to the retro-mutagene).

And Timothy's parents apparently don't care that their son went missing for AT LEAST 2 F*CKING YEARS (did nobody actually think of mention it or by anyone of the Turtles/April?)

What I love about 2012 RenetAngelo?

Their similar personality, they assumable similar life/how people see/treat them und just their childish/happy/bubbly energy.

Both are just bubbly, happy and chaotic.

Mikey doesn't really gets respected/looked down on (I mean yeah, he's a child but he still deserves more respect than he sometimes gets)

With Renet it's kinda hinted in the IDW that her boss doesn't really treats her with respect (I know the IDWs are non-canon)

Their energy just makes me happy lol.

Like, they gives such a happy, comforting energy.

I stan this couple and no one can change it.

Usually about 2-5 hours.

The longest I've spend was on the TMNT 2012 S.5 analysis where I spend a total of 6 hours searching for screenshots, interviews and more.

2012 Mona Lisa and Renet have a lot in common and I wanna see them meeting.

For example:

Both could talk with each other about war.

Mona is a war solider and Renet probably knows a lot about the wars in human history (and beyond human history)

Also the majority of people within the fandom give these two a childhood without parents, friends, comfort, bullying, being raised too strictly and more.(We give these two everything possible)

Mona and Renet could perfectly rant/vent at each other while being the friends they never had.

They could talk out hours while their boyfriends are standing in the background and looking traumatized as hell from what they hear abt. war.

And they're both are the only canon couple with the turtles (ok, with Renet it is just heavily assumed but like c'mon, the amount of times she hinted that she and Mikey are a couple (one day))
