Help out my dog, maybe?

This is Jake. He’s a 6 y/o Maltese mix and everyone here who’s known me a while knows I love the little pest to pieces.

I took him to the vet earlier this week ‘cause he was behaving oddly, walking with a hunched back and everything. Figured he’d eaten something bad off the ground and got a stomach ache. Got some painkillers for it and was told to come back the next day.

The next day, however, I noticed that he was still holding himself oddly and was wobbly on his back legs. And it’s been getting worse throughout this week. Can’t hold himself up while doing his business, can’t walk up the stairs, and would generally be in a lot of pain if I didn’t keep him on painkillers. Turns out it’s a genetic issue that’s been going on a while and suddenly got a lot worse and will eventually lead to complete paralysis. 

The thing is… I’m currently on long-term sick leave myself and am barely getting by with what my insurance is giving me. And vets are expensive. God, are they expensive.

It would mean the world to me if you could help out so I can at least keep him on painkillers for now until we can get him to a larger clinic and see if something can be done with, well, surgery and therapy? I honestly don’t know. I hate asking people for money, but the financial aspect is stressing me out like crazy and I’d appreciate any help I can get :/
