here, have a terribly written short fanfic for my Jabberwocky au that I don’t post anything about. I only wrote the fic for THIS ______________________________________________________________

Maddie looked in the mirror. She hadn’t had any time to take a good look at herself. She didn’t really take care of herself with the pain of her ribs and the significant headache of the withdrawal. She was also panicked with the realization that the effects on her friends hadn’t worn off by now as she had hoped, having to deal with their selective amnesia alongside it. Finally able to see herself without blurred vision, she saw her messy hair, eye bags, tears, and special features of her own. On the bridge of her nose and under her eyes were dark teal scales, as well as slit pupils in eyes that held too much anger than her own and a few lighter marks she identified as possible scars. Maddie’s face twisted into a  look of rage and horror. Apple looked at her in what seemed to be understanding. “That isn’t my face.” Maddie spoke silently. Apple nodded, “It kind of seems that way, seeing your face covered in tears and your hair messy.” Maddie stared harder at the reflection with resentment. “Not that.” She said, her voice shaking slightly, “Those.” Maddie pointed at the scales with a claw. “What do you mean, Maddie? You always had them.” Maddie shook her head. She didn’t see herself there. She saw an in-human creature that causes trauma. A bitch that haunted her dreams for 13 years, broke her ribs, hurt her friends, damaged her father severely, and made her live in constant anxiety. “I look like a fucking murder…” she said.

No I’m fine I’m just thinking about how Maddie had to watch Raven, her best friend, get treated like shit for years on end, risk possibly dying to escape a destiny that would have been just as bad, get ridiculed and blamed for everything that goes wrong in the coming months all because she wanted to be nice, only to see her do the one thing she said she never would and have all her worst fears realized as she was turned evil anyway. And then the woman who cut her off from her homeland/her best friend’s mom get released from jail and terrorize the entire school like a week later.
