also idk if some of you realize that, like, being Fat fat in public very often means that total strangers will sometimes feel entitled to poke, grab, or grope you without provocation as a humiliation gesture. this kind of behavior is not made any less sexually inappropriate by the fact that you don't think the Real Human Person it's happening to fits the average mold of "fuckable"
#sexual harassment tw#if someone is sexually harassing you 'sarcastically' to show you don't 'deserve' the 'privilege' of their harassment -#they're still harassing you#& fuck them for thinking harassment is a compliment & doing it to people they do & don't find attractive alike

btw if you’re fat and your partner doesn’t love you wholeheartedly, if they’re attracted to you “despite” your body, if they avoid touching you, if they look away from certain parts of you, you’re allowed to break up with that person. look at me. you can do better. you are not unloveable and you don’t have to settle i fucking promise.

have seen a couple tags on that reblog worrying about the viability of getting bottom surgery as a fat person facing medical discrimination & wanted to make sure you've all seen FEDUP's database of usamerican surgeons with higher or no BMI limits on the procedures they perform. the majority perform top surgery but there are also bottom surgeons listed as well as surgeons who perform other gender affirming procedures; if anyone knows of & can add similar resources especially for non-usamerican surgeons please feel free

i don’t want to hear what a thin person has to say about fatness unless it’s enthusiastically and jubilantly in support of being fat. literally shut the fuck up otherwise.

evangelicals being like "god made men to do This and be like This and women to do That and be like That that's just how it is" and it's just a picture of a white man and woman following traditional gender norms makes me so insane like you boring fascist fucks. god made 2 million species of beetles. god made whales, ducks, humans, and 1500 other species capable of same sex behavior. god made fish and amphibians that change sexes. god made more than 30 different intersex variations in human beings. god, in his infinite curiosity. wake up!!! fuck!!

women’s bodies weren’t “made” to do anything, nature didn’t “intend” anything, no human action is “unnatural” and there is no inherent “purpose” to a human life

Your fat body is not a placeholder for a "better" you. It IS you. And you deserve love and respect NOW.

i think if you want to consider yourself in any way "body positive" or an ally to fat people or anything then like step one has got to be questioning and rejecting the construction of our bodies and lives as a disease

It will never not baffle me how hard society tries to insist that fatness is an abnormality. The average western woman wears plus size clothing. One of the smallest garments on the scale is called a medium. Most people with anorexia are in the overweight bmi category, yet somehow that's known as "atypical anorexia". Fatness is often labeled the cause of a number of diseases, but there are literally no diseases exclusive to fat bodies. Looking at movies and television, you'd think the world was 98% thin people. It's not.
My point isn't that if it was pretty rare to be fat, fatphobia would be okay. Of course not.
My point is that we're surrounded by all these artificial indicators that fatness is unnatural and uncommon and it's just not true?? Humans are not always thin and we've never all been thin and we're not all meant to be thin. Fat humans are a normal type of human. Fatness is a feature, not a bug.

It's honestly such a shame that we've made such a huge thing out of swimming and swimsuits and looking good in swimsuits and fat people not looking good in swimsuits. Swimming is actually the perfect exercise for fat people because it puts zero pressure on the joints, which is a much bigger concern for us than it is for skinny people, and lets you exercise basically every muscle group without straining too much and risking injury. Yet somehow this is one of the least accessible exercises to fat people due to nothing more than a culture of body shaming. The work to unlearn all the shame to be comfortable in a bathing suit in front of strangers is huge even for conventionally attractive people, but I could probably count on one hand the number of fat people I've met who were confident enough to get in a bathing suit and go swimming in public.
And what is the exercise that somehow everyone thinks they should do instead? Jogging. It's more accessible, sure, it's easy and costs nothing to go outside and run. But I need you to understand telling a fat person to go running is basically telling them to go destroy their knees. Not to mention it's probably one of the most physically uncomfortable exercises to do when you have a body that jiggles even with compression garments.
Imagine a world where everyone had the ability and equal access to whatever exercise fit them best and helped them be happy and healthiest. Imagine a world where fat people go swimming.
#ugh this#i haven't been swimming in years bc the thought of shaving my legs + still being judged for being fat is exhausting#fatphobia#body shaming

i hate the term bed rotting i am not rotting i am napping. i am enjoying snoozing and sleepytimes. i am warm and cosy and resting
#tbf i think the term might have initially been used to describe people being stuck in bed bc of lack of spoons/executive dysfunction/etc#& those times when you literally *can't* get out of bed fucking suck & i can see why you'd want a term for that#but that it seems to have become a catch-all term for cosy resting time is an affront to every one of my sensibilities
