If all of your neurons fired exactly the same way in response to exactly the same stimulii at the exact same time - you would be having a seizure. Your brain would be non-functional. The wide *variety* of responses in the network, all acting towards a larger common goal, is what enables the network to achieve complex functions. Every neuron has a role to play. Every neuron has a unique perspective. A neuron does not waste time judging the signals it sees around itself or attempting to enforce it's will on other neurons. It receives, reacts, and sends it's response back to the network. Coherence is not every neuron acting exactly the same - it is every neuron acting *differently* while still being aligned to the common goal. We are each of us neurons. We are the processing units of this reality. When our emotions flow freely and without judgement, we are operating at peak efficiency. Our common goal that will unite us in coherence is Love. Never feel bad for the emotions you feel about the world. Never let anyone shame you because your perspective does not match theirs. Your unique perspective is critical to the proper functioning of the reality and the eventual global coherence of human conciousness. If you feel called to fight social injustice, do that. If you feel called to teach others, do that. If you feel called to protect our individual liberties, do that. If you feel called to advocate for the life of the unborn, do that. If you feel called to environmentalism, do that. You owe nothing to anyone. No one gets to tell you how to feel. Do not judge yourself based on the opinions of others. The only thing you need to ask yourself is - is there love in my heart? #spiritualawakening #spirituality #globalcoherence #coherence #unitedhumanity https://www.instagram.com/p/CCV81vZAcXI/?igshid=k36qqxnbgvr6

So STOKED on this. My arms are finally in the mix! My lesson this time was the same it's been for my whole shuffling journey: try less. My body knows how to move. My soul wants to express. I don't have to think, I don't have to work, I don't have to try. I just have to get out of the way. This is true in more than just dancing. The universe is ready and waiting to give you everything your heart yearns for and more. You just need to stop trying so damn hard, and get out of the way. Working on my hip mobility yesterday. It took me several minutes to coax my leg down into the proper position. At first, it felt like I physically just could not move my leg there. But I persisted, gently probing at the edges of my range of motion, breathing, and asking my body to relax into it. After paying attention for awhile, I found that my range of motion was being artificially constrained by an automatic tensing of my leg muscles. I would sink a little bit, feel the stretch actually start to reach my joints & tendons, and then SHOOP - my leg muscles would instinctively tense up and clench, stopping any further progress. It was a defense mechanism - an unconscious action my body was taking to try to protect me from a perceived threat. I was struck by how similar this is to our mental defense mechanisms. When we perceive something that may be a threat to our ego or worldview, that same sort of automatic tensing occurs. We go into Red Alert. Our shields come up. Reasons to discredit the source of the threat start appearing in our mental space. We start mentally stockpiling ammunition - rationalizations, arguments, sound bites we've heard on TV. All of this is unnecessary. When I was able to gently coax my muscles to settle down and stop resisting, I found that I could easily sink into the stretch. There was mild discomfort as the rust was worked out - but there was no pain, no injury, no pulling of anything. My actual limit was far beyond my body's "freak out" point, and I could tell that that limit was already expanding from the stretch and would only expand more with time. My hip simply didn't need the protection that my body thought it did. The same is true of our minds. Beneath our trigger-happy defense mechanisms is a flexible, adaptable, infinitely expandable being. Underneath our ego is an unending depth of understanding, allowance, and peace. Your true self does not need protecting. There is nothing in this world that can harm it. #spiritualawakening #spirituality #yoga #yogapractice #mindfulness #mindfullife https://www.instagram.com/p/CAvVkTNADsm/?igshid=1llsut6joxrjj

I've been working out the kinks in my body, the toxicity in my life, and the negativity in my mind. It's amazing to see how closely tied together all three of these things are. Breakthroughs in one aspect are ALWAYS followed quickly by breakthroughs in another aspect. Mind, body, and soul - all are one. You are not a robot. You are not a biological machine. You are not the persona you've built for yourself. You are nothing but love, joy, and peace. Release your hold on who you think you are and watch what starts to surface. #shuffledance #shufflevibes #melbourneshuffle #shufflers #shuffle #ravecommunity #rave #ravedance #spiritualawakening #spirituality #innerpeace https://www.instagram.com/p/CAa2bSoAncF/?igshid=4lx1faj07c2f

The type of fun I'm talking about is the fun of a child. The pure innocent enjoyment and appreciation for the world around you. It's grounded in Gratitude and in Love. Drowning yourself in cocaine and alcohol and strippers is an example of gratifying your physical animalistic senses at the expense of your deeper self. Maybe temporarily "fun" for a few select chemical receptors, but overall damaging to you and the world, and definitely not something that the innocent and appreciative child inside you would enjoy. People who engage in those sort of activities are not enjoying life, they're running away from it. I think you can see that if you started to spend your whole life doing that, you would quickly become depressed and disconnected - doesn't sound very fun to me. (Partying is not inherently a bad thing, it's very possible to have genuine honest fun at a party or with responsible substance use. It all depends on what's going on with YOU inside). When you start paying attention to yourself, really paying attention, it starts to become clearly evident when something is genuine fun or when something is being used as an escape or is only an animalistic urge. Life is supposed to be that type of genuine fun. Yes, even your job. Even brushing your teeth. We all have this false idea programmed into us that we must suffer before we can have something good. Put your head down, do the work, no pain no gain, etc etc etc. It's all a lie of the human ego. Its a mental prison we place ourselves in. It's true that we must learn how to be uncomfortable at times, because oftentimes there's a lot of discomfort we've built up between our current life and the life we really want to be living through our years of denial. But when you're really in alignment with you - EVERYTHING is fun. https://www.instagram.com/p/CAVqqPbgsU2/?igshid=1u34jfk1li8my

I am still astounded at what my body can do when I release control and allow my inner self to take over. It's like a doctor takes control, one who knows exactly where every kink, soreness, and tight spot is, and knows exactly how to push into the right boundaries without overdoing it. Suddenly I'll be doing things that seem almost dangerous (like pushing into my neck in this video), but I trust and just wait to see what happens, and sure enough - that action that seemed really strange is now stretching *exactly* the right muscle that I didn't even know was tight beforehand. I remember being absolutely giddy when I discovered this. It feels like having a superpower. I've been thinking some more about it recently, and realized that this is literally the origin of yoga. Yoga is not a skill that was developed analytically or learned by rote - it is pure physical intuition. It is the natural action of the body and the self, as it existed before the analytical mind took over. Of course, you can learn it by rote (I did, at first) - but that is not it's source. Musing on it further, I realized that every being in the animal kingdom has yoga. Have you ever watched a cat stretch in the morning? That stretch is DEEP - they are getting IN THERE, really pushing into the boundaries of their joints to make sure every kink is worked out. No one taught the cat how to do that - it just knows. It follows the pull of it's inner self without question. As humans, we are in an incredibly unique and powerful position. We have access to an analytical mind that allows us to set our sights higher than the raw survival goals (mating, competing). But we also have access to those same pure instincts and intuition that are still present deep within - to guide us to what is right for us. We can take the best of both worlds. Have you learned to get beyond your analytical mind and listen to your intuition? It's there, patiently waiting for you to wake up and start paying attention. #yoga #spiritualawakening #spirituality #intuition #instincts #yogapractice https://www.instagram.com/p/CAOxRhSArVx/?igshid=rmant8qrzn61

Someone told me today that they didn't like meditation because it just made them "painfully aware" of the need to breathe. I was reminded of these 'manually breathing' memes I used to laugh about. I remember feeling this way - I remember feeling the constant unending tightness and constriction in my chest, and the unpleasant experience of becoming aware of it by breathing. I think it's a really good indicator of mental state The act of existing in your body, of just BEING, is the entire reason you're here on this Earth. It should be FUN. It should feel GOOD. It should be pleasant to nourish your body with life giving oxygen. Why on Earth would you want to live a life where it's unpleasant to notice you're breathing? The thing you're doing literally every minute of every day? If you never feel your breath, and it's unpleasant when you do, it means you're spending the vast majority of your mental energy in your analytical mind - and you're carrying a large amount of stress because of it. You're worrying, planning, assessing, sifting, sorting, judging others, judging self, analyzing, reviewing the past, projecting the future - all in a attempt to gain CONTROL over your life. Your mind / ego is addicted to this and it constantly feeds you the lie that you can obtain just a little bit more control if you analyze just a little bit longer. Life doesn't have to be painful. You don't have to wrestle your life down to the ground to get it to feel good. If you're always wrestling your life, you're always going to be in pain. It's never going to stop no matter how many things you "achieve". Life can feel better. Life can feel AMAZING. Meditation is step 1. #spirituality #mindfulness #mindfulnesspractice #meditation #meditationpractice #breathwork https://www.instagram.com/p/CANxXBhAGD1/?igshid=d16j1g5ur0jf
