Fiddle case update. Gorgeous new @sfgiants patch sewn on, joining the random Chilliwack patch I found at @oldmadegood years ago (More people stop me to ask me about that one than you might imagine.) and immediately added because I have such great memories of Chilliwack in the early aughts. I put the Hank patch on there so fewer people would ask me what kind of music I play. Doesn’t work. And the @waltergeoffreythefrenchie patch is on there because he reminds me to always be the drama Queen of my own castle. When you have a canvas case cover and can’t just throw any old sticker (or decal, as the Canadians say, except with the accent on the opposite syllable, it’s confusing you kind of have to hear it) on it, it does make you think a lot more about your choices. Four years ago today we had to say goodbye to our dear Winston. @adamspickoftheday can tell you about how I reacted the first night he was with us. Let’s just say I wasn’t exactly a dog person back then. That may come as a surprise to some of you who see how Lester and I roll. Advanced Tune Tuesday - Jean’s Reel Ok! In today’s episode of being dragged way outside my comfort zone, the fine people of the #2022advancedplayerschallenge bring you, via me, Jean’s Reel. I can barely do one triplet cut, let alone two in a row but that’s the tune and that’s the challenge so here we are. I did immediately take a nap after learning and recording this one and you can be sure I did not use the @fergalscahillmusic version because I know my limits. This is a super cool tune and I really enjoyed trying something so different. In other news, a lot of fun things are happening around here. Adam started his amazing new job today and I’m doing a tv show taping this week and some background long bows in a music video next week and Lester is enjoying some new toys he got from his Nana. See that red spot under my eye? That’s where I got an pre-cancerous actinic keratosis frozen off my face earlier today. I had a full body check while I was there and everything else seems fine. I am sharing this with you as a reminder to go get stuff handled as soon as you notice it, and maybe just go get checked out regularly whether you notice something or not. I lost a good friend to melanoma a few years ago and I think most of us figure that people don’t die from skin cancer anymore but they absolutely do and I don’t want anything to happen to any of you, the people I love. @belcourttheatre always hosts the most perfect Academy Awards celebration. Nothing better than having an entire movie theater full of people with whom to ask, what the hell just happened? For the record, I’m a pacifist and I also hate hacky jokes. So for me there were no winners in that madness. My winners were @questlove who made a brilliant documentary and @sianheder.director who made my favorite movie of the year. And those are the people on which I choose to focus.
