AA does change lives

My fraternities saved my life

While I know many college students may not think of the same thing as me when I talk about fraternities, that's still how we call ourselves. Alcoholics anonyme, narcotic anonym, or any other groups like these, thats what we are, a fraternity. We are a chosen family.

We often walk into those doors broken, beaten down by life, completely destroyed by our "d.o.c." The love we can feel in the air despite how miserable we are when walking in is truly life changing. My life has done a 180 since I started doing meetings. I found a loving family like I always wished I had and found a new hope, and plenty of solutions.

It can be scary, even more if like me, you're terrified of being pushed into christian beliefs, but "God" doesn't actually matter that much in the program. The thing that is important when we talk about God or our "P.S./S.F" is faith. It can be whatever you want, but you need to never lose faith and hopes for a better future for yourself.

I used to wake up and refuse to get up and get dressed, I would just lay in my bed for hours wishing I was dead. Today, I can finally say I no longer just lay alone in my misery. I still have bad days, but on those days, I am now able to talk to "my god", and find the strenght to just exist for yet another day.

Actually, I do much more than just exist now, I am sober, and go through my day sober. Nobody can take this new found hope away from me.

I am infinetly grateful for my new found family. You saved my life
