WHEN YOU FANTASIZE, AM I YOUR FANTASY?
!: sfw, a bit of morally grey! Ellie, infidelity.
?: Ellie canât seem to leave Jesseâs girlfriend alone..
Ellie is not a bad person, she swears she isnât.
âYou have a nice lip shape..â you murmur absentmindedly, smudging out the lipgloss on the sides of Ellieâs ajar mouth with your thumb, eyes looking anywhere but directly up at where you hover over her. This feels sweetly intimate, she thinks, palms directly on your sides as she steadies you on her lap, pretty much since you need a comfortable position to apply products onto her face; The room is warm, rainfall falling lightly on the windowsill rhythmically as the dim lampshade casts a golden hue on your face.
Her eyes finally fall on you and she hopes you donât notice the slight dilation in her ivy orbs, her affection for you running rampant while Jesseâs game echos where he lounges in the living room a few rooms away from where you two currenly sat in her bedroomâ on her bed.
She liked you, you had spunk that none of Jesseâs previous girlfriends had; more importantly, you actually acknowledged her existence living with him, rather than seeing her as a nuisance or a 3rd wheel, always making her feel involved when you two would just chat it up.
Guilt gnawed at her heartstrings whenever youâd go out of your way to be polite to her, often times shushing Jesse when heâd interrupt whatever she had to say, your undivided attention on her as you closely listened to her, even scooting closer.
She practically went to bed with you on her mind; and god, was her appetite and both jealousy maxed out on the nights you would sleep over, perversely having her ear up against the door while you and Jesse fooled around, closing her eyes and imagining it was her around your arms and not her longtime friend.
When her fingers slowly trail up to your baby blue, lacy bralette, youâre pulling away slightly, making small distance,
âEllie, weâve talked about thisâ
âYou donât even like him like that.â She immediately retorts, croak in her throat expanding when you donât allow her to get anymore closer than she already is. She looks nothing short of pathetic right now and she knows itâ you know it.
âJust one kiss..â She attempts to negotiate, eyes pooling with desperation, âI canât move on fast, you know this..â
Sheâs down-bad to the point she doesnât even see the corner sheâs put herself in; even if you were to potentially take up her offer and put an end to whatever was left of your relationship with Jesse, youâd still have to actively see him everyday. Lost in your thoughts, Ellieâs burying her head in your lap while you mindlessly run digits in her hair, massaging her tender scalp like you did all those nights you two spent together as you form a conclusion.
âand what about him?â You whisper, humoring the idea, but she doesnât respond, eyes trained on the shadow moving underneath her door and additionally, way too comfortable in the warmth you held to give a response. She eventually mumbles something but it falls incoherent before she completely goes non-verbal, just focusing on the massaging of your honeyed fingertips.
It was a sickly sight, to say the least, and Jesse would agree.
He stands near the wall adjacent of Ellieâs bedroom door, heart racing as it all dawns on him why sheâd been so fond of you and not the others. What heâd just witnessed through the small crack of her door has just completed changed everything, and yet explained it all at once.
A small part of him doesnât blame Ellie, as heâd fallen for your charms too but, why specifically you? Why not the countless other girls sheâs passed up under the guise of ânot being for a relationship?â
His throat dries up as he, himself, comes to a bridge,
Was she truely not ready for a girlfriend, or was she just getting ready for his?
He stands defeated as he watches the one girl heâs ever liked have more of a connection with his bestfriend than he ever did with her; to add more salt to the wound, he finally notices,
sheâs aware of his presence.
She doesnât acknowledge it, simply letting you pet her like a docile pet while her relatively warm gaze burns into him, a telltale sign sheâs trying to get the message across that sheâs won whatever this was.
For sure, Ellie Williams was a bad person.

ellie is the type of girl who would pick wildflowers for you when sheâs out on patrolâŚ
sheâd make a little flower crown out of them, meticulously tie the stems together and make sure she doesnât squish any of the flowers on her way back home.
sheâd probably make a habit out of it after seeing your reaction to the first one she brings home: that glimmer in your eyes and your pretty smile, the way you tuck your cheek into your shoulder, skin burning. soon enough youâve got a collection of flower crowns, petals dried and scratchy, stems browning from lifelessness - still, you canât help but smile when you see them.
and ellie canât help but make you crown after crown, fingers twisting and knotting around wildflower stems, thinking of you even when sheâs miles away.

omg I know Iâm a bit of a yapper with all these ideas donât mind me, but what dâyou think Ellie would be like during aftercare?
sorry about me yapping, my brain is rotted with so many ideas smh
no pls i always need more ideas!! i love these little bite-sized things where i can just yap for a bit instead of being insanely extra like with reqs and other things...VERY CHEESY, TOOTH-ACHINGLY FLUFFY RAMBLE AHEAD:

she'd be real sweet with it, of course. making sure you're okay, cuddling until the sun comes up, she'd run you two a sweet-smelling bath and make your favorite meal, she's just an angel!
right after the heat of the moment was over, the two of you would tangle up in the sheets, warm, still-trembling limbs strewn to all sides, cuddled up as close as humanly possible. chests up against each other, it was like your hearts were holding hands, the way they were beating in synch. she would just melt into you, hold you close to her, your face buried in her neck or chest so tightly, she'd stroke your head and make drawings on your back lightly with her nails. not enough to hurt but gentle as a feather, to calm and establish even more closeness, she loved tracing your smooth skin with her fingers.
after more cuddling, some conversations, checking in with one another and mumbling "i love you"s , she would get up very gingerly, and get both of you a drink of water, then return to bed to sit next to you. ensue more deep talks, pouring your hearts out to each other, telling each other everything. and we can't forget the jokes she cracks, as if its her life's mission to make you sick of her. during all of this though, she wouldn't be able to tear her eyes off of you, she would look at you with such adoration, the visible sparkle in her eyes almost made you shy. "stop looking at me..." you whisper, your face heating up under her stare. she grins from ear to ear and reassures you, "you're just so beautiful, i can't help it!" and you did look beautiful, she was right. it was her favorite thing in the world to care for and admire you. the satisfied post-sex glow looked good on everyone, her as well. pink blush on her features, auburn strands disheveled in just the right way.
then she'd run a bath and get in with you, still holding you close to her. she would wash your hair for you too, and you two would split a face mask for some extra pampering. you felt so loved, and questioned daily if your heart could handle this, because she proved to you endlessly what love really is and how much you deserved.
she would also make your favorite meal, whatever in the world you requested, you could request even something like unicorn steak, and she would immediately be up on her feet in the kitchen, delicious simmering sounds and aromas floating around her. humming take on me under her breath, naturally. bonus points if she wears an apron with nothing under it, lol.
you watch her while you sit at the table, mesmerized by her skillful movements and clear enthusiasm she had for caring for her love. when it was all done, she'd serve it to you with a flourish, "tadaaa, only the best for my everything." she was so smooth with it, always seeking to impress you, and when you tasted it, she watched your reaction with a toothy grin on her face, eager to know what you think. then later on you two would return to the cozy bed, tangling up together once more, but this time to finally fall into a restful and healing sleep, where you would meet in your dreams too. frolicking around hand in hand, you never imagined a better life with her, and were grateful for every day you got to spend by her side. <3

GYM CRUSH!ABBY REALIZING SHE'S INTO GIRLS + SMAU

⢠abby, who spends most of her free time at the gym. it's a good stress reliever and it allows her to deal with all the problems life throws at her in a healthy way.
⢠abby, who has memorized everyone's faces and names.
⢠abby, who notices a new girl starting to come to the gym around the time she's ready to leave. she can't help but think the girl is very pretty.
⢠abby, who takes longer than necessary to finish her last set, and then takes definitely too long to collect her things and leave, occasionally glancing at your reflection in the big mirror. yep, you're very good looking.
⢠abby, whose heart rate speeds up the first time you ask her to help you with a new machine. she's not nervous, she's just not used to talking to new people, that's all.
⢠abby, who now greets you whenever you arrive, sending you a small smile or a nod of her head, which then turn into quick 'hey's, internally cheering when you shoot her your brightest smiles in return.
⢠abby, who loses count during her sets and has to start again, all because you walked right past her, eyes following your form until she snaps herself out of it.
⢠abby, who chats with you when you're both done, always wishing you could stay longer when you wave her goodbye. she likes talking to you, you're very charming. she knows she wants you as a friend.
⢠abby, who's never looked at another woman in any way other than platonic. yes, girls are cute, but she doesn't like them that way, she just enjoys their company like anyone else.
⢠abby, who wears a dorky grin on her way home after you asked for her instagram before she left. does that mean she's now allowed to text you? she really hopes so.
⢠abby, whose cheeks unexplainably flush when she stalks your instagram and finds out you're into girlsâ not that she cares, of course.
⢠abby, who awkwardly suggests you two hang out outside of the gym sometimes, trying to contain her excitement when you agree. it takes her so long to get ready because she wants to look extra good. she's not trying to impress you, no, she just thinks she should put more effort into her appearance in general.
⢠abby, who finds herself bouncing on her feet with nervousness while she's waiting for you to arrive.
⢠abby, whose breath catches in her throat at the sight of you walking towards her. it's the first time she sees you in something other than gym attire and messy hair. you're undoubtedly stunning.
⢠abby, who finds it so easy to be around you, despite her initial worries. you're fun and easy going, very intelligent too, and turns out you two have a lot in common. that night, she can't help but think about you before falling asleep.
⢠abby, who feels slightly uncomfortable whenever you hug herâ she's just not that affectionate with people even though she never has a problem with her friends hugging her goodbye
â˘abby, who catches herself staring at your lips from time to time and prays you didn't notice.
⢠abby, who finds herself wanting to take care of you whenever you're spending time togetherâ she'll pay for your food, carry anything heavy, make sure you're not cold. she's just being a good friend, right?
⢠abby, who's hit with the realization that she has a crush on you after one of your usual hangouts. you sat closer to her than usual and her brain shortcircuited when she felt your thigh touch hers, her mind wandering to dangerous places as her imagination ran wild. oh god, does she like you?
⢠abby, who has a mini mental breakdown once she's home alone. it doesn't make any sense that she's into you. she has gay friends so how come she never knew that about herself? it makes no sense. she's never cared about girls in a romantic wayâ yes, some of them made her nervous, but that's only because she's not good at making friends, that's all there is to it. if she were gay, she'd know. it makes no sense.
⢠abby, who's suddenly very busy and stops going to the gym. she's totally not avoiding you. she's just tired and confused. is she a lesbian? is she bi? is she even sure she's gay at all?
⢠abby, who runs to her best friend to help her figure out this mess. she ends up crying her eyes out but feels so much better afterwards. there's a lot to unpack, but she finally accepts that yes, she's very into girls, and she's very into you. she'll figure out the rest as she goes.
⢠abby, who's now ten times more nervous around you because she's hyper aware of her feelings. she'll overthink even the smallest interactionsâ did she hug you for too long? did you flirtatiously smirk at her or was it a normal smile? should she stop answering your texts so quickly? the poor girl is being so awkward it hurts.
⢠abby, who finally decides to bite the bullet after a whole month of tiptoeing around you. she's so nervous, she could cry; but she pushes through because she wants to take this big step, she can't keep acting like this in your presence or she'll lose her mind.
⢠abby, whose heart screams of joy when things go smoothly. the relieved grin she shows when you accept to go on a date with her is so bright, her cheeks hurt. it takes everything in her not to do a backflip in celebration. is she a little scared of navigating all these new feelings? yes. but she's also terribly excited at the idea of finally calling you hers <3
[a look into your relationship]

the guy from the record
store wasn't a guy?
ellie williams fanfic
ââ chapter 2 wc: 3.1k
read the chapters here !!
you've managed to become closer with the guy you're interested in! this feels like a dream, everything feels like a dream but maybe this (or he) is too good to be true.
hiii omg this chapter is way longer than the first one but i had to do it, i'm sorry !!! anyways i hope you like it <3
based on the guy she was interested in wasn't a guy at all !!
friendly reminder that he/him pronouns are used for plot purposes !! so please imagine ellie when i use them. i'm not writing about a man, i'd rather die, honestly.
7 in the afternoon. ellie spent the entire day looking at the phone number written on her wrist, scared that the black ink may erase at any time. she sighed and pinched the bridge of her nose planning a whole dialogue in her mind that she probably would forget the second she heard your voice, she didn't even know what she was supposed to say to you, the girl that was basically interested in her.
but she knew how excited you were about this, everytime she closed her eyes she could imagine the look on your face if she called you. she knew that you needed someone to share your interests with and she couldn't deny that having someone to talk to about music sounded like a good idea to her too. ellie'd been alone at school for almost a year now and even if you didn't know that the guy you were wishing to date was actually her, you were going to find out at some point and, if you didn't get mad at her, you two could be really good friends, then ellie wouldn't have to be alone anymore.
the whole idea of finally getting to know someone running through ellie's mind while she stared at her phone and her fingers anxiously tapped the desk where her phone laid. she started to type your number on the screen of her phone. she breathed in, blinked quickly and cleared her throat when she pressed the 'call' button. she could already feel her heart pounding so hard threatening to get out of her chest at any second.
you walked in circles around your room with your phone in your hands. you could already feel your eyes drying for you couldn't even blink, you desperately stared at the screen waiting for that call.
but what if he didn't call you? what if he thought you were annoying and he was just being nice when he lent you that album? all kind of negative thoughts ran through your mind. just the idea of being rejected broke your heart into pieces and you could feel that knot in your stomach.
or maybe a worst scenario was that he actually called you. what would you say? would he expect an opinion about the album? would he want to talk to you or would he prefer a shorter conversation?
you fidget with your fingers and bit your nails from time to time as you too planned a whole script in case you had to carry a whole conversation with your crush. you wanted to impress him, show him that you could be as cool as he was.
bzzt
the sound of your phone took you out of your trance and you froze for a second. an unknown number, but you know very well who was calling you. your face lighted up and you immediately picked up the call.
maybe it was because of your excitement that you couldn't help screaming at the phone awkwardly "i loved the album!" you immediately frowned and closed your eyes regretting your whole existence. the cringe was physically hurting you and the seconds you had to wait for his answer felt like an eternity.
"hi to you too," you heard his raspy voice followed by a chuckle that warmed your heart in a second "i'm glad you liked it, it's became one of my favorites."
you started to play with a string of your hair. "i know, i liked it very mussh!" once again you'd embarrassed yourself, it felt like you couldn't stop shouting and screwing things up. just when you thought nothing could make this moment even worse, you heard the loud voice of your mother coming from the kitchen.
a shout of your name followed by a "dinner's ready!" you closed your eyes and sighed hoping that some god had heard your prayers, had mercy of you and avoided that your crush listened to your mom calling you.
but that was asking too much and you could hear a soft laugh coming from your phone. just when you were already feeling the drops of sweat on your forehead reminding you that embarrassing moment, that husky voice blessed your ears one more time. this time it sounded like a whisper, one that warmed your ear and it almost felt as if he were only inches away from you. he called your name and you stopped dead.
"tell your mom i say hi." you hummed trying to hide the panic and the butterflies that only one sentence caused inside you. all the fear you felt seconds ago was replaced by pure ecstasy.
you two talked for a few more minutes and ended the call. ellie felt on her knees and buried her face in her hands. the initial plan was to talk to someone from school and make friends, but why was she unconsciously flirting with you? was it really unconsciously or she didn't want to admit that she was doing it on purpose?
"hey, did you do the homework for today? i didn't do it and i can't have more bad grades. i was wondering if you..."
the voice of one of your classmates called your attention. you sighed and rolled your eyes, you were ready to deny the request, but you frowned when you looked up and realized that the request wasn't for you.
you turned to your right and there it was, your classmate jesse talking to ellie. or rather than talking, he was disturbing her, interrupting her so much preciated tranquility.
"i didn't do it."
the response felt ice cold but she didn't seem annoyed, just nonchalant. you bit your lower lip in order to stop the laugh coming out of your mouth.
"really? but you look like a nerd..."
now the soft smile on your lips slowly faded and your teeth bit your lips so hard they were turning a dark red, the blood threatening to come out from the corner of your lips. you furrowed your eyebrows and scrunched your nose. the conversation was none of your business but you felt the sudden impulse to say something, you couldn't stay quiet and see how someone insulted your classmate.
"so you ask for help and then diss her?" your words came out like a bark "how childish." both of them were now looking at you in surprise. ellie's mouth half opened, the green orbes grew bigger than ever. she blinked a few times before fixing her glasses with her index finger while she cleared her throat.
you just watched jesse leave without saying a word but you could notice his embarrassment miles away. you smiled proudly as your eyes fell on ellie. she mouthed a 'thank you'. you nodded and couldn't help smiling.
only the sight of her felt familiar, had she always been like that? with that little sparkle in her eyes that tickled your stomach and in some way made you feel a connection with her, feeling as if something about her would be able to captivate you any time.
you stared at the notebook in front of you trying to make up your mind. maybe she was a nice person and this was a sign to talk to her, maybe it was the sign of the beginning of a good friendship.
you opened your eyes as soon as you heard the sound of your alarm. never in your life have you been happier about waking up at 8 in the morning on a saturday. you got up from your bed and appreciated the cute outfit laying on your bed, the one you'd carefully chosen the night before. spending hours on choosing the best clothes from your closet and doing your makeup to make you look stunning was worth it if it meant seeing your crush one more time.
you held in your hands the album he had lent you some days before and you couldn't hide the excitement that the butterflies inside your stomach caused. your left hand brushed your cheek and you felt the warmth of your skin almost burning.
you hadn't payed attention to the weather outside because what could go wrong? all the past days had been okay, why would this one be different?
before you cross the front door of your house, tough, your frizzy hair was already warning you something. the bright and warm sun that was beautifully shining the previous day was now all covered in heavy gray clouds that were taking with them the shiny colors of the flowers on the porch of your house.
it was just a 10 minutes walk from your house to the preciated record store but it took only 5 minutes for the pouring rain to start soaking your hair that had taken hours to get done.
but not a single thought of going back home crossed your mind, that was definitely not an option. nothing was going to stop you from having that desired love life you'd prayed for so much for so long. some rain wouldn't screw it up.
your path to the record store consisted of you running to get there faster taking little breaks under the trees that covered you from the rain. you inhaled and prepared yourself to start running again, it kept like that until you finally were only one block away from the place.
the light coming from inside the store gave you an immediate feeling of warmth. the characteristic music of the place was softer than the other days for the sound of the raindrops falling onto the floor was mostly the only thing you could hear.
you sprinted towards the door, the familiar ring of the bell welcoming you once again to your now well known record shop. your eyes scanned the room and stopped at the stunning figure you soon recognized.
it was the guy, your guy. it seemed like he'd also been outside because his hair and face, which was still covered with a mask, were adorned with tiny raindrops. he was drying his forehead with his shirt revealing his well toned abdomen, the small freckles highlighting his pale skin.
soon you felt the warmth quickly coming back to your body almost rushing. your uncolored cheeks now growing crimson while you clenched your teeth afraid that your jaw would fall to the floor if you stared too much.
it didn't take too long for him to notice your presence. he turned around to look at you with those hypnotizing emerald eyes, you could notice the concernment in his eyes as soon as they fell on you. he quickly grabbed the gray hoodie laying on the counter.
"hey, you might catch a cold."
his raspy yet soft voice blessing your ears and before you realized it, he handed you his hoodie.
"you can wear this."
this was the moment you coul swear that that was not rain at all, that was holy water. the day you thought was ruined had became a day you'd remember your whole life. it took you a minute to go back to reality and confirm that this scene was not a product of your imagination.
"oh, thanks." you couldn't hide the sweet smile on your face and you could tell that he was smiling too by the way his eyes looked at yours.
you put the gray hoodie on and all you could think about was the nice smell coming from the fabric, a mixture of a sweet yet woody perfume combined with his natural scent invaded your nostrils and was quick to make you head over heels.
meanwhile, ellie was sweating just by the thought of the possibility of her clothes smelling. but there's no chance that you could find this new fragrance other than pleasant.
after spending what felt like minutes but was actually more than an hour in the record store talking about the things that you had in common, which was not much more than music, but that was enough to make your heart flutter and giggle at his spontaneous jokes and at times sarcastic behavior.
minutes felt like seconds and you had the feeling that you two had something special. the natural conversations and casual jokes made everything feel right and, in some way, it made you think that all the scenarios you made up at midnight before falling asleep while you listened to a playlist you'd made specially for him, could become real. because you were like that, only a few days of seeing this guy and you'd already made a playlist for him with all your favorite songs in it.
"i wanted to share something with you." you hold your breath as you waited for a response.
"yeah? what is it?" you heard the curiosity in his voice.
"it's kinda stupid but i..." you doubted for a second before finishing your sentence "i made a playlist with my favorite songs, maybe you want to listen to it?" your fingers fidgeted with your rings.
his gasp was almost inaudible but loud enough to let you know that he was actually excited about this. "that's not stupid at all, that's awesome." the green eyes looked for yours "send it to me right now, please."
you immediately looked down at your phone in an attempt of hiding the sparkles in your eyes while you sent him the link of the playlist, little did you know that it would soon become that guy's, or ellie's, favorite playlist.
the feeling of your empty stomach reminded you that it was time to go back home and after chatting a bit more with your favorite employee of the record store, you waved and said goodbye to him with a sweet smile, his own eyes smiling at you too thanking your for your visit.
you'd always been fond of participating in every festival that your school organized. this time wouldn't be the exception, your mind was already full of ideas for the spring festival and just the thought of being in charge of it excited you. you'd already decided the music, decorations and organized the little shows that some of the students would make, everything carefully organized by yourself.
but your plans couldn't be as perfect in reality as in your mind, it was when you heard your professor's voice that you knew this was going to be harder than you thought.
"you'll work with jesse, he needs extra points." your jaw fell to the ground when the professor basically forced you to work with one of your classmates, one that you'd already had a little argument with. it wasn't like you hated him but you'd never worked with a boy before, let alone being close with one, with the exception of the guy from the record store, of course.
"i can't... i won't work with him alone, i-" you looked around your classroom with the hope of finding someone who could save you from this situation, someone who you knew would be helpful and would make the atmosphere less awkward.
your face lighted up when your eyes noticed the person next to you, a smirk placed on your face for you'd found the perfect one.
"i think ellie'd do great if she helped us with the organization too." you patted her shoulder. she furrowed her eyebrows in confusion and looked into your eyes for an explanation "you can help us with the music. you have good taste after all, right?" your voice softened when you turned to her, your face expression almost begging for her to accept your offer.
"i- uhm..." she swallowed when she noticed you were watching expectant at her "i guess i could try?" her rising tone making it sound as a question rather than an affirmation. the familiar sweet smile on your face thanking her was everything she needed to confirm that she wouldn't regret this decision.
you spent some minutes thanking her after everyone left the classroom, this being one of the first times you had a conversation with her that lasted more than two words exchanged. it wasn't too deep though, some instructions about the organization of these festivals mixed with words of encouragement for her before she left the classroom.
the room all empty now, every sound you made echoed between the walls as you packed up your belongings and put on your backpack ready to leave too, but the shinning screen of the phone lying on the desk next to yours called your attention. you grabbed it in your hands and carefully examinated it. "it's ellie's phone" you thought.
you turned to look at the door expecting ellie to come back looking for it, but not a single soul seemed to be near there. your attention went back to the mobile. the unlocked screen with a song playing on it, a song you well knew, awoke your curiosity. you'd always hated people who snitched in other's phones but you couldn't help it, plus, there wouldn't be any damage in looking into someone's playlist.
a little grin placed on your face as you noticed the so much similar taste in music you two seem to have. what a coincidence that these were all your favorite songs!
your smile faded and turned into a frown as you read the tittle of every song, one after one. the cold sensation at the back of your neck hitting you when you reached the end on the playlist. all you favorite songs, all in one playlist, the playlist you'd made which only one person was able to listen to other than you. the phone fell from your shaky hands onto the desk, your breath getting faster with each thought running through your mind, the sudden realization hitting you like cold water.
the sound of the door opening took you out of your half-conscious state. "oh, you're still here." you couldn't even face her, now it all made sense "i forgot my phone." the voice you soon recognized making you shiver.
you took a deep breath before turning at her and faking your best smile as you handled ellie her phone "yeah, here." you tried to hide the shaky voice caused by the knot on your throat. "thanks, see you next week!" you watched as she left the classroom once again, then your hands fell on the desk in front of you as you tried to catch your breath and swallow the incontrollable feeling of crying.
these past few weeks, the days you spent talking to what you thought was a guy, was actually a girl? it was not only a girl, it was your classmate, ellie.

dating modern ellie â random hcs

love language ;
â i have a feeling that her love language is receiving gifts. oh u said u found the dress kinda cute? the next day. its yours. the fact that she spent her money on you made you feel bad (like always). but sheâs like âitâs no big deal, cmonâ
specific gifts* ;
â sometimes when she feels like she wanna gift u something more special than dresses, necklaces etc. she makes(?) a cd for u and gives them.. weird names? .. âwhat do you think? did you like it?â apart from that, she gives you different drawings every single day.
dates with her ;
â theyre pretty simple but fun at the same time. imagine youre watching smth nd jus chilling. then suddenly she stands up and being like, âwould you⌠uhhh.. like to get some milkshakes?" at fucking 3am in the morning.
++++ ;
â this girl writes poems for u. -we know from the game- her poems can sometimes be so deep n sometimes not. she often plays the emily dickinson card (you are the love of her life) đ but chooses not to show u any of her poems cuz she thinks theyre too stupid n cornyâŚ.
â this girl has some red flags. cmon everyone has redflags. and i think her redflag would be âgiving mixed signalsâ which was very difficult before u guys dated cause she just couldnt make up her mind.
â i think ellies a good listener, not just w u, but with everyone. shes not much of a talker ig so she just listens and comments.
â loves to gossip with u tho. sheâd sit there and listen u talking (yapping) about some cringey couple.
â when u first met her you kinda made fun of her name... âwhat was your name again?â .. âellie, ellie williamsâ .. âellie williams?? dude thats like the most common name and last name ever.â
..

ellie williams fanfic
âââ series masterlist
finding a new interest such as rock music has been one of the best things to happen to you. maybe your friends aren't as passionate about music as you are but that's not important when this cute guy from the record store is there for you... why does he kinda look like your classmate ellie though?
first thing i'd like to say is that this series is based on the guy she was interested in wasn't a guy at all the manga which has been my latest obsession for a year now !! i recommend you to read it because it's a work of art.

this is literally the best i've read in my life
Dream Girl

Summary: Did you seriously think youâd be able to get over someone like Ellie Williams? Think again, dream girl.
an: Iâm so obsessed with this series and the portrayal of Ellie, thereâs just something about a small town romance that scratches the sweet spot in my brain. I hope you guys have enjoyed this one just as much as I have! Thank you so much for all of the support đ¤
Warnings: smut! MDNI!! 18+, tribbing (another tribbing fic by Luna?? Ofc do you not know me by now?), lots of kissing, sub!ellie if you squint, angst, mentions of another love interest, mentions of cheating, reader sucks Ellieâs fingers, pet names, unsure and closed off reader, pls lmk if I missed anything!
Read part 1 here!!
You watched from your bed as the gentle wind blew your lace curtains further into your bedroom, the birds chirping as the early morning sun slowly rose, cascading a warm glow into your room, making you squint your sore eyes with a soft groan.
With the slow rise of the sun came the constant reminder that youâd spent yet another night without catching a wink of sleep, lying there as you allowed your thoughts to carry you to places you wished didnât exist.
Places of your ex wife, the bitter taste of your marriage still lingering on your tongue, reminding you of everything that could have been, everything that was lost due to lust.
Places of Ellie, the person who stole your heart first. You think of everything that could have changed had you not gone to the city, how your life's outcome would have had such a great shift due to one tiny change within the line of events that made up who you were, and what you did with your life.
It all leaves the whole in your heart feeling bigger, wider, swallowing up so much of the tiny organ that it almost felt there was nothing left of it.
It had been only a few days since the last time you saw Ellie, and the memories of that night still lingering in you brain, hanging heavily in your mind, stopping you from focusing on anything but that.
Because as much it felt good to kiss her, you haven't even been divorced for a year, and the conflicting feelings that you had for Ellie, paired with the newfound distrust and heartbreak that came from your recent marriage caused a storm in your head, heavy clouds swirling about in the confides of your mind and making it heard to think, hard to breath.
It was all just too fucking hard.
But you knew life was different now. You weren't a teenage girl that could run from confrontations for her own comfort. You were a grown up now, experiencing grown up situations that called for grown up reactions. So you knew that you needed to talk to Ellie, no matter how much it hurt to even think about facing her right now.
You werenât even entirely sure where to start. Texting her was an absolute no, despite how much easier it would be to confront her that way, behind a screen would do a great job at cushioning the blow that came with confronting Ellie. Calling fell under the same category, she deserved much more than a measly phone call from your end with the intention of patching things up.
Which left only one option. You had to see her in person.
You sighed softly as you sat up in your bed, looking over at your phone resting face down on your bedside table. You hadnât touched it since that night, avoiding the device all together in fear that youâd see any messages or calls from the worried girl.
So you arenât surprised when you finally pick it up to see just that. Ellie didnât pry, there were about three phone calls and four messages, all of which came across far too understanding and supportive for someone that had been kicked out mid make out session a few nights prior.
You inhale deeply before you open up your messages with her, and begin typing.
Hi
Iâm sorry I havenât responded.
Are you busy today? Can we meet up? I feel we need to talk
You practically hold your breath until she responds, which doesnât take a very long time because the minute you send your first message, sheâs read it and already typing out her message back.
Hey, donât apologize. I was just worried about you
Ofc we can meet. Farmers market is opened today, you wanna check it out?
You donât even realize it, but her messages are making you smile the second you read them out. Probably because of how easy Ellie makes things, how hard it is to make things awkward with someone as kind as she is.
That sounds great.
Iâll meet you there
Cool :)
Despite the small amount of anxiety that has alleviated when youâre finished texting her, you know this is only the beginning, the easy part of a conversation that will be much harder to have, much harder to explain when you arenât even sure how to navigate your feelings as it is.
But there was no use in putting it off any further, so youâre quick to get out of bed, brush your teeth, haul on a pair of old blue jeans and an old band t-shirt and make your way out to your car to meet Ellie in town.
Itâs almost impossible to have a sour mood in a place as magical as your little town. The moment you got into your car, the warm sun soaking into your skin made you take a deep breath, allowing yourself to clear your head for a second before making your way out into town.
Your mom was right, the sun can cure more than you thought.
You hadnât even realized it was Sunday, which meant it was your towns tradition to hold the farmers market in the town center. You used to look forward to it so much as a kid, knowing it would bring out the best of the people that lived here, showcasing the talent every person had.
Some people sold clothes that they made by hand, pieces that could only be made with love and care, something you often missed seeing in the city. Others sold jewelry, so delicately crafted it was almost unbelievable that someone was able to create something like it.
But your favorite? Was the food. Different pastries baked by the hands of men and women, recipes passed on from generation to generation to continue to breath life into the traditions that made up your town, tying one another together with a single cake or pie.
It was almost like magic.
You catch yourself smiling as you walk down the strip of stands already getting into their sales. Your heart warms at the sight of familiar faces, aged but still happy. You notice new ones as well, like when you approach a stand you remember being up when you were kid, one of which sold your favorite sweet rolls.
Your attention is far too occupied with chatting up the familiar curly haired girl at the stand, the same one that your visit when you were a teenager, eager to her mothers famous pastures. Youâre surprised to see that thereâs now a baby on her hip sporting the same head of spiral chocolate brown locks sprouting from her head, giggling and kicking excitedly as you introduce yourself, grabbing the babies hands as you catch your with her mom.
Ellie had arrived not long after you, standing nearby as she smiles fondly at the way the baby quickly becomes enamored with you. Watching you play with kids was something that always made her heart flutter with joy.
You giggle softly as she hands you both pastries, giving her a nod as she begs you to come visit her and the sweet baby more often. You hum softly as you struggle to push both your receipt and your phone back into your purse, groaning softly to yourself as you fail to notice the sudden looming presence that falls over the, gentle hands opening your bag wider as they aid you in putting everything away.
âHere, lemme help youâ Ellie breaths out gently, her voice alone making you freeze as your eyes trail to her body to land on her face that was suddenly very close to yours.
She chuckles when she notices you staring up at her with wide eyes, nodding her head down to your bag.
âCome on now, would hate to make you drop thoseâ she hums as she mentions the pastries in your other hand. You blink a few times before you clear your throat, giving a quick nod before you push your things into your bag with her help.
âFuckâŚsorryâŚIâŚumâŚâ you struggle to speak, adjusting your bag on your shoulders as you watch the girl step back with a soft smile.
âNo worries, you alright?â She questions, neck craning down a bit to get a good look at you, her own big green eyes staring into yours, making it hard to breath.
God, this was going to be much harder than you thought.
You inhaled deeply, opening your mouth to speak before closing it, looking down at the sweet rolls in your hand before outstretching your arm to hand one to her.
âI bought this for youâŚI figured you hadnât eaten yet soâŚâ you mumble out softly, watching as she stared at you for a moment before looking down at the perfectly packaged baked good in your hand.
Her heart warming at the mere thought of you thinking of her in that way.
She smiles softly before she nods, placing her hand on the small of your back as she began guiding you out of the small strip of stands.
âSo sweet of youâŚcâmon, thereâs some places to sit right up this wayâ she suggests, giving you a small reassuring smile as she leads you there.
Somehow it seems perfect. The sun, the birds chirping, the little shady spot that Ellie leads you over to, covered by the biggest tree with the prettiest flowers slowly drifting down from above. Itâs truly something out of a dreamâŚ.
It made you wish this was all a dream.
You let out a soft sigh as you sit opposite of Ellie on the wooden bench, your fingers toying with the paper the pastry in front of you is wrapped in. Ellie frowns as she watches you closely, knowing the expression far too well. She could see just how much you were in your own head, how the events you two shared prior lingered in your mind, making it hard to focus on anything.
You couldnât even look at her, and she hated that.
She inhaled deeply before she reached a hand out, gently placing it atop yours.
âI hope you didnât bring me out here to apologizeâŚbecause you donât have toâ her words are soft, and sweet, and it makes your throat get tight because she shouldnât be so kind to you after what you did, after the way you treated her.
You donât respond, so she takes the opportunity to keep talking.
âI get that things are probably hardâŚand I shouldnât even have kissed you that nightâŚso Iâm sorryâ she tries again, and you scoff softly before shaking your head.
âDonâtâŚdonât apologizeâ you mumble out before you inhale deeply, finally looking up, only not at her, at the scenery around you both.
âI caught her in our bed, with some girl she worked withâ you mumble out softly, fingers mindlessly running along the rough surface of the wooden table.
âI probably should have seen it comingâŚ.but I think I wanted things to work out so badly that I just ignored itâ you shrug slightly as you explain before you finally look over at Ellie, whoâs already staring intently as she listens to you.
âEllie I donât want you to feel sorry for me, or to think that Iâm using my divorce as an excuse for what I did, for what happened between usâŚ.but I just need you to know that Iâm hurting, and itâs justâŚ.hard for me to open myself up to something like that again after what happenedâ your voice breaks as your emotions threaten to give you away, chin wobbling as tears pool in your eyes.
But you donât let them flow free. You donât want to cry anymore, not over this.
âIâŚI just need timeâŚ.â You silently beg, beg for her to understand what it is youâre going through, what it is youâre experiencing.
It scares you when she doesnât answer right away, her green eyes scanning your face as she takes it all in. Itâs a lot, and you know that, but thereâs a tiny part of you that begs for Ellie to do what she does best, which is tell you exactly what you need to hear.
She blinks a few times before giving you a nod, paired with a soft smile. âYou donât even have to askâŚ.you know Iâd understand no matter whatâ
You inhale deeply as you watch her, her gentle eyes, her soft smile telling you that all would be fine. It make your stomach churn because you feel like you donât deserve it, you feel like she deserves so much more than what youâre giving her.
You two havenât even addressed what actually happened that night.
Thereâs nothing more to do than to simply smile back at her. Itâs weak, and it isnât much, but itâs all you can mange right now.
Ellie smiles softly at you before she looks down at the rolls in front of you both. âAs good of a baker that Mary Beth isâŚ.i think we need some real foodâ Ellie hums out softly before she swings her leg over the bench to get up, nodding her head towards a small diner nearby.
âCome on. Letâs get something to eatâ she suggests, holding her hand out for yours.
She notices the way your eyes linger on her calloused hand, unsure of whether or not you should take it, unsure of what signals it would send if you did.
You were unsure of everything. Unsure of Ellie, yourself, your own feelings. Nothing felt solid enough to trust, and you hated that someone like Ellie could make you feel that way, even though you knew that it wasnât her that was making you feel that way, but rather what happened to you instead.
She can see it, she can see right through you and for a moment her frown mimics yours before she it turns into a soft smile.
âAs friendsâ she affirms gently.
She sees a flash of something ripple through your eyes at this when you finally look up at her, something she doesnât want to read too much into, something that she knows she canât dive into for your own comfort, and perhaps even hers too.
A moment passes before you crack a weak smile, placing your hand into hers before you nod. âYeahâŚas friendsâ you manage to make out weakly before grabbing the things off the table, shoving them into your bag and leaning into Ellieâs warmth as she guides you to the diner.
Ignoring the bitter taste left on your tongue at the way Ellie assured you that she was your friend, and nothing more.
Your mind was in absolute shambles.
It had been a few weeks since the farmers market with Ellie, and truthfully all had been well between the two of you. You both ate together, talked, laughed, you were even able to talk about your divorce, explaining to Ellie how you felt, what it had done to you, and she listened to it all, nodding along to your words, giving you the advice you didnât want to hear, but very much needed. For a moment it was easy to forget all about the tension that had settled between you both, the thoughts that plagued you were finally silenced as you allowed yourself to just simply be.
That was until you got home.
The second you were in your bedroom, lying there, staring up at the ceiling, memories of that night began to flood into your mind. You could feel it all so clearly, Ellieâs hands on your body, her lips pressed against your mouth, gasping for air, her tongue sliding against your own. Her words echoed throughout your mind, desperate pants and moans of how she needed you, of how you needed her.
You couldnât sleep a wink.
It felt as though you hadnât even talked to her, as if things hadnât glossed over to where they were okay, a point where things were fine between you both. They were, but the feelings you had were still there. You thought that if you had at least talked to Ellie, explained to her what you were feeling, it would give you a head start on where to go with sorting out your own feelings.
None of that ever came.
Your body yearned for a moment of peace from the issues at hand, you wanted to feel the same way you felt when you were sat at the diner with Ellie, her laugh and her sparkling smile distracting you from the things you were feeling.
But you knew you couldnât turn to her for a distraction, you couldnât use her to occupy your mind from facing things that youâd much rather ignore. That wasnât fair to her and it would only hurt you further in the long run, lengthen the grieving process of the death of your marriage.
You couldnât do that to Ellie.
You could however, go somewhere that you knew would clear your mind the moment you were there.
The low hum of your car engine shuts off as you pull up to the familiar clearing, a gentle smile on your face as you can already hear the gentle stream of the water the moment youâre stepping out of the car.
The old creek was one everyone in your town treasured, a tiny glimpse of paradise in the confides of your backyard. It was where all the seniors would go for senior skip day, and where families would visit to spend the day with their children. If there was any place that the people of your town would be during the summertime, it would be the creek.
And rightfully so, the waters sparkled like nothing youâd ever seen before, the shady trees hiding the spot away like a secret that belonged to you and only you. You had many fond memories of the place, ones with your family, your siblings, your old friends from school.
Ellie.
You and her would visit the spot any chance you got, diving into the cold water the moment you were there. You could recall the moment you two first found out, thinking it was a secret only you two shared, just to find out your parents had been visiting when they were your age as well.
Regardless of the fact that it didnât belong to you two, it felt like it. A small piece of the world that you and Ellie could call your own, sharing secrets there with one another, Ellie pushing you off the old swing tied up to one of the trees before she swung in soon after, diving in and holding you close to her chest as she promised youâd be together forever, for as long as you both lived.
The intensity that you both shared as teenagers often made you laugh. What a silly thing for two teenage girls to say who have barely experienced the world out there.
You let out a gentle sigh as you rugged off your denim shorts after setting your spot up. A small blanket settled down with your bag, your old camera and a few books, clearly having every intention of staying the entire day, swimming to your hearts content.
Once youâre stripped of your clothes, your body only clad in your old bathing suit, you waste no time in making your way down to the water, shivering slightly once your toes hit the cold water, wiggling them in the process.
Youâre convinced swimming in the small body of water has to have some sort of mystical healing properties, because the moment youâre diving your head under, eyes examining the aquamarine world that is below the surface, your mind is clear. It makes you feel like you could live there, swimming amongst the different underwater caverns and the fish, creating a whole new world below as the little mermaid you always dreamed to be.
Your mother always told you she thought sheâd given birth to a little fish when your father first took you swimming.
Itâs so easy to lose track of time when youâre like this, floating around in the water, letting its coldness wrap you up and swallow you whole. Itâs almost comforting how quiet it is, the only sounds being the gentle stream of the water, the wind rustling against the tree leaves and the frequent sound of the birds chirping to let you know that you werenât alone, letting you know they were there with you.
You donât even realize it but youâve spent hours swimming about in the small pond, the grumbling in your stomach finally stops you for a moment to actually think about anything other than swimming, forcing you out to lay out onto your blanket and dry in the sun, occasionally popping the sweet berries into your mouth youâd brought from home.
The book youâve brought with you also silences the outside world, allowing you to flip from page to page without thinking of anything but the regal characters that seemingly had much more to worry about than you. What a world it would be to wear uncomfortable dresses and attend balls in the hopes youâd find the perfect husband.
What would they think of your divorce?
It makes you snort to yourself, a gentle hum leaving your lips as you flip another page, unaware of the sudden sound of feet crunching against the grass slowly approaching you.
The high pitched sound of your name being called rips your attention away from your book, furrowing your eyebrows a bit as you cup your hand above your eyes to shield from the sun, trying to get a good look at who it was that was disturbing your peace.
âI didnât think Iâd be seeinâ you here! What a surprise!â Lilac chirps out, her curly hair tied up into a perfectly styled bun, tight coils framing her face as she clutches her towel to her chest.
You hadnât seen her since the night Ellie took you out to the Copper Cat a few weeks ago, the girl not lingering on your mind much as you had much bigger fish to fry. You were honestly a bit shocked that sheâd even remembered your name.
You give her a gentle smile as you sit up, your legs folding to cross one another as you give her a small smile.
âGood to see you LilacâŚ.going for a swim?â You ask her, watching as the girl takes the spot right next to yours, her blanket fitting perfectly up against your own as she gives you a confident nod.
âMhm! Itâs too hotâŚbless Ellieâs heart for sharinâ this place with me. Donât know what Iâd do without itâ she chirps out as she tugs her own denim shorts off, leaning her in the cutest little bikini.
You know she doesnât mean it in the way that it sounds, bragging about being introduced to the small clearing by your ex girlfriend, and you knew that it was only in due time that this place was mentioned to her by someone in your town, making sense that Ellie would do it first since thatâs just the kind of girl Ellie was.
But thereâs just something that tugs at your heart at the thought of it all. Ellie mentioning this place to her, the two of them coming down together, alone, Lilac adorned in another one of those adorable bikinis she had to show off to Ellie her gorgeous body as they play in the water together.
Something about Ellie sharing the spot you two shared with someone else that just rubbed you the wrong way.
You inhale deeply, trying to calm your nerves as you remember that this girl owes you nothing, Ellie owes you nothing and Lilac has been nothing but kind to you from the moment she met you.
Giving her a gentle smile as she settles down next to you, you nod. âItâs pretty great out hereâŚIâm surprised it isnât so packed. Seems we got luckyâ you give her a nod before you sigh, turning your attention back to your book.
She smiles fondly as she watches you turn your attention back to your book, her neck craning down a bit to get a good look at the cover, gasping softly once she realized what it was you were reading.
âYou read those too? I love them! I just finished the first twoâ she beams, a soft hum leaving your lips as you look up at the girl, raising your eyebrows at her comment.
âReally? Most people think theyâre super cornyâ you pout softly as you turn the book over to look at the cliche cover, which only earns a firm head shake from Lilac.
âHoney Iâm a hopeless romantic, I daydream more than I actually try talking to peopleâ she giggles out softly, giving you a gentle shrug.
Her words make you chuckle softly, gently closing your book as you toss it to the side before sitting up to mirror her posture, crossing your legs as you suddenly give her your full attention.
âYouâre a hopeless romantic? ButâŚLilac youâre gorgeous. I wouldnât be shocked if you have every single guy here desperate to get a chance with youâ you confess, which only makes her shake her head as she gives you a shy smile, gently shoving your knee.
âDonât you dare! Iâm awful at talking to peopleâ she pouts out, her eyes dropping from her own as she stares down at the flowers on her blanket, delicate fingers tracing the patterns gently as she lets out a gentle sigh.
âIf Iâm being honestâŚitâs not the guys here that I wantâŚâ her words trail off softly, and it makes you pout softly as you eye the girl, seeing how whatever is on her mind is clearly bothering her, plaguing the girl just as much as what was on your mind.
You open your mouth to ask her about it, feeling bad about whatever she was going through, but sheâs quick to shake her head and put on a bright smile once she looks back into your eyes. âBut letâs not get into that! Mâglad youâre here to join me todayâ she breaths out, her voice sweet and genuine as her eyes soften.
And it makes your heart rate finally slow down, seeing just how genuine the girl seemed, how happy she was to be there with you regardless of the fact that you were as good as a stranger to her than anything more.
You smile softly as you nod, leaning forward and placing your hand on hers, giving a gentle squeeze. âDonât mention it, Lilacâ you hum out softly.
If there was anything you didnât expect to do today, it was to have made a new friend, especially one in Lilac. The two of you spent the entire day down at the creek, laughing together, swimming together. The more time you spent with her, the more you realized just how much in common the both of you had.
Being completely honest with yourself, she had more kindness in her pinky than anyone in the city ever did.
The sun has set, and the breeze blew against your warm skin as you leaned against your car, Lilac in front of you as she made yet another joke that had you throwing your head back as you let out a loud laugh.
âStop I feel the same way! I always wondered what happened to himâ you gasp out, tucking a strand of your hair behind your ear as you lean back to shove your back into the passenger seat of your car. Lilac giggles softly as she nods, her arms crossed over her chest as she swatted away the mosquitos slowly began to swarm around you both.
âHeâs still an idiot, some people never change I fearâ she groaned out, a prominent pout on her perfect lips before she cocked her head to the side, smiling fondly at you.
âEllie was right about you, you know? You really are somethinâ specialâ she breaths out, and it has your eyes going wide at the mention of the girl. It makes you realize that you hadnât thought about her all day, not since Lilac had joined you.
It makes you wonder what other things Ellie had said about you.
You whine softly as you bring your hand forward to nudge her playfully. âShut upâŚ.youâll blow my head upâ you warn the girl playfully before you sigh softly, looking over at the sun that was slowly bur surly setting, the once warm glow that casted onto you both disappearing.
âAhh I should get goingâŚwe shouldnât be on the roads too lateâ you breath out softly, turning towards the girl and giving her a small smile, only to see a sad one on her face.
You frown softly as you watch her, leaning forward and giving her hand a gentle squeeze. âHey? You okay?â You ask gently, suddenly worried about the girls shift in her mood.
She lets out a gentle sigh before she looks down at her feet, kicking around the gravel below before she lets out a soft hum. âI know we donât know each other wellâŚbutâŚI feel like youâll be my only help with thisâ she admits to you, her eyes still casted downwards before you assure her with a soft voice. âOf course you can..â you mumble out softly.
She finally looks up at you, taking a deep inhale before she gives you a half smile. âIâŚthink I like Ellieâ she breaths out, as if sheâd been keeping it held in for so long, as if finally telling you was letting a weight off of her shoulders.
Letting it off of hers and slamming it down onto yours.
You find it hard to breathe, because suddenly youâre shot back to the first night you met Lilac at the Copper Cat. Ellieâs hand on her waist, hers on Ellieâs arm as she whispers in her ear, the two of them matching one another far more than you felt you couldâve ever matched Ellie. You feel threatened, and it sets a fire off in your chest, and you feel like the world is crumbling around you as this beautiful girl admits her innocent feelings for your ex girlfriend.
When you donât speak, she continues.
âAnd I justâŚyou and her are so close, so I was hoping maybe you could give me some advice? Should I go for it? Do youâŚthink sheâd like me back?â She asks hopefully, twiddling with her fingers nervously as she watches you closely, awaiting your response.
You stare are her blankly, your body working on autopilot as you try to work your way through this. Seeing her that night felt like it mightâve all been in your head, especially when Ellie ran out after you and left the moment you were ready, but now this is all real. This is Lilac confirming that what you felt was real, and this was the reality of coming back to your hometown, more specifically your ex girlfriend.
And as you stand there, trying to figure out what the hell to say to this girl, you can only see someone doing the same thing that youâre doing. Sheâs a young girl, looking for love in this crazy fucked up world, and sheâs unsure of herself. Someone as beautiful as her is unsure of herself and you could only wish that someone would have guided you when you were pursuing your ex wife, a third party bystander giving their advice and helping you through it all.
Because as much as it kills you? Ellie deserves love, and so does Lilac, and if they find it in one another, who the hell are you to take that away from them.
The both of them owe you nothing.
You inhale deeply before giving her a soft smile, nodding as you reach out to give her arm a gentle, assuring squeeze. âI think Ellie would be thrilled to be with someone like you, LilacâŚ.you should go for itâ you breath out genuinely, watching as the girls face lights up with joy with your confirmation, an excited squeal leaving her lips.
âI was hoping youâd say that! Youâre an angelâ she squeals, reaching forward and grabbing you up into her arms as she gives you a tight hug, swaying back and forth as she tucks her chin into your shoulder.
You can practically feel the happiness radiating off of her.
You smile softly as you nod, wrapping your hands around her as you hug her back before you hum. âYou didnât need meâŚyouâll be great on your ownâ you assure her before you pull away, giving her a reassuring nod.
She smiles brightly as she nods before she lets out a loud sigh. âRightâŚget home safe, alright? And text me! We can hang out sometime this weekâ she sings out as she gets into her car, giving you a wave as she begins pulling off.
And suddenly youâre left there all alone, with the newfound thoughts that are swirling about in your head. You know already that you wonât be able to sleep, not with the mental image of the two of them dancing around in your mind, forcing you to face reality, face the facts that time moves on with or without you.
But you were tired of being left behind, you were tired of being the last one to know things, the one broken heart in a sea of mended ones.
Driving off in your car from the creek gives you time to think, the cool breeze kissing your skin, pushing your hair back as the radio plays your favorite songs, creating somewhat of a perfect scenario to think things over rather than running from them.
While it all hurts, you know that thereâs no use in standing in the way of Lilac or Ellie or whoever for that matter. Life would continue moving, and in that meant new love would be found, for both you and Ellie, it just felt like that wouldnât happen for you in the moment, even if you knew it would.
But you were going to move on from this. And you were going to be fine, no matter how long it took for you to catch up with the tracks of life that seemingly always got the best of you.
Thereâs something therapeutic about hanging up the laundry on the old clothes line in your backyard.
You used to make fun of your mom all the time when she did it, telling her that there was a perfectly good dryer inside that would take less than half the time to dry the clothes than they did outside, not to mention less work when it came to picking them in.
However as youâve grown older, thereâs something so simple about walking outside with your basket on your hip, the gentle smell of detergent blowing into your direction as you pin up several articles of clothing, your white sheets, anything that youâve washed, that tickles your brain in the best ways.
That, and the fact that these days youâll take any task to fill your brain with thoughts other than Ellie or your ex wife.
Things had been fine. You spoke to Ellie here and there, dropped dinner off at Joelâs house that you knew he made sure she got some of whenever you made extra, you even made time for Lilac within the week as well. Youâd picked up a small job in town as well, working at the cashier of a small floral shop that had been in town from you could remember.
So although your mind drifted to places you didnât often like, life was fine. Life was slow, and life was good.
Lilac constantly gushed to you about Ellie, talking about all the progress theyâd been making, asking your opinion on the girls behavior, which you always tried your best to help with. Although the strange thing about it all, was you heard nothing from Ellie about the situation. She didnât mention anything about Lilac, not even when you brought it up.
It wasnât long until you began distancing yourself from the both of them, knowing how hard it would be once they became official and you had to live life in a world where they were together.
Because although you were doing okay, the wound was still fresh, and you had to keep your peace.
You hummed a gentle tune softly as you continued hanging up your linen on the line, enjoying the feeling of the cool summer breeze against your skin, the dandelions dancing along through the air as they became loose from their stems.
The sound of your fence creaking open cuts right into your thoughts of housework, forcing you to turn around as you hang up another one of your sleep shirts, a soft smile on your lips when you catch sight of the familiar tall brunette walking into your backyard, both her hands shoved into the pockets of her denim jeans.
âEllieâŚdidnât think you were coming overâ you sigh out softly as you clip the end of your shirt up, continuing to hang up your clothes regardless of her being there.
âWas in the neighborhoodâŚ.I thought Iâd stop byâ she breaths out, eyes taking in your form as you continue with your chore.
Her voice seems like something is bothering her, and you catch onto it the second she utters her first syllable. You know already why sheâs here, to question you about your sudden absence, wondering if things were okay with you or not, worry clear in her tone.
âYouâŚhavenât been around latelyâ she mumbles out, that same worried tone laced throughout her words.
It was just as you suspected.
You frown, thanking the task of laundry that hides your expression from her. Itâs so much easier to lie to Ellie whenever youâre not looking into her eyes.
âOhâŚIâve just been uhâŚdealing with some stuffâ youâre quick with the excuse, clearing your throat before you turn around to give her a soft smile. âIâm fineâŚhonestâ you give her your best attempt at a reassuring nod before you turn back to your laundry.
You have to turn away from her quickly, because you can see from the small glimpses you get of her that sheâs frowning, and her brows are furrowed together with something thatâs bothering her.
You hope sheâll leave after you tell her youâre fine.
But she doesnât. You donât hear her respond to your words, or even turn around silently to go about her day. You hear nothing behind you, only the sound of your white sheets wafting through the wind, drying on the line before you.
You frown when you look down to see your basket is empty, and the task of pinning up your clothes is no longer present to hide you away from Ellie.
So you need to get rid of her.
You inhale deeply, picking up the old basket and placing it on your hip, putting your most believable smile on your face before turning around, finally locking eyes onto the girl to see something that makes your heart sink.
It looks like she hasnât slept, prominent bags under her pretty eyes, pouty pink lips chapped, most likely picked and bit at out of anxiety, a bad habit you knew she had whenever something was bothering her. Your heart tugs at the image, wanting nothing more than to pull the girl down into a hug, consoling her and telling her that whatever was bothering her, would be fine.
But you canât. Because things arenât the same anymore.
You inhale deeply before you nod your head towards your back door. âWellâŚI have lots to do insideâŚmore house workâŚdinnerâ you explain, trying your best to hint at Ellie leaving without having to say so.
âDid I do something wrong?â She finally makes out, her words a clear plea to understand the situation rather than a half mumble that sheâd rather not say.
It makes you furrow your eyebrows, watching the girl with a confused look as you try to understand her.
âWrong? EllieâŚIâve barely seen you. What could you have possibly done wrong?â You try, confused of the sudden outburst from the girl.
Her eyes are stormy, hazy and hard to read. Her brows are knit as she looks down at the floor before looking back into your eyes, a prominent frown on her face.
âWhy would you tell Lilac that thereâs something worth looking for between her and IâŚwhy would youâŚâ her words trail off, as if she wants to say more, as if she wants to persist with knowing why you would have done such a thing.
And soon it all starts making sense.
You wish Lilac wouldnât have said anything. You wish she wouldnât have told Ellie that you were the one that told her to go for it, even if she was the one that asked in the first place. You wish she would have just pursued Ellie without any mention of you, because was that even necessary? You know she must have done it to gush about you even further, the girl becoming enamored with you from the moment she saw you, and even more so once you two became closer.
But for the love of godâŚdid she really have to tell Ellie that you were the one to tell her to go for it?
You open your mouth to speak before you sigh softly, your hands squeezing the handles of your clothes basket before you speak. âIâŚ.she spent the day down at the creek with me and when we were about to leave she told me she liked youâŚand she asked me if I thought she should pursue youâ you explain with a shrug of your shoulders, which only makes Ellie scoff in disbelief.
âAnd you told her that was a good idea?â She argues back, as if it were the dumbest thing you could have ever done. She says it as if it were common knowledge to tell the girl other wise, you raise your eyebrows when she says this.
âYeah? Why not? Lilac isâŚsheâs fucking gorgeous Ellie. Anyone would be lucky to have her, and you should be happy I put you on with someone as great as herâ you mumble out as you slip past the girl, clearly done with Ellie and this conversation as you walked up the wooden steps leading to your back door.
But Ellie isnât finished with you, because sheâs quick to follow behind, closing the door behind you as you make your way into your laundry room to set your basket down, your hands going to your hips once you turn around to see the girls built figure standing in your doorway.
âEllie come onâŚI have things to doâŚyou need to goâ you huff out as you slip past her once again, going off into your living room to start on the dried laundry that needed to be folded, hoping that the girl would simply drop it and leave.
âYou know I understood you the night after the show, and I was more than willing to give you all of the space you need, but this feels like youâre playing some sick joke on meâ sheâs standing over you now, watching as you try to ignore her in favor of some pillow cases that needed folding.
âIs pushing me into the arms of someone else your solution? And ignoring me until Iâve forgotten all about it? Is that the plan? Is that seriously what you think itâll take to get rid of me?â She tries again, her voice pleading with you at this point as she watches you ignore her.
But this time you done, your hands drop to your lap as you stare up at her in disbelief before you toss the pillow case to the side, standing up opposite of her.
âI never had a plan! Lilac asked me a question and I was honest with her. Thereâs no reason why you shouldnât be happy with someone elseâ you explain to her before you finally feel as though youâve had enough, a huff of annoyance filling the silent air as you round the couch to slip away into the kitchen.
Before youâre fully there, Ellieâs voice is echoing off the walls.
âBut I canât be happy with someone else!â She shouts out, her arms flailing up inti the air before dropping down to her side, the sound of her palms slapping against her jeans before she sighs.
You stop dead in your tracks when you hear that one, your back still turned to her.
âHow could I possibly be happy with anyone else when youâre all I fucking think aboutâŚ.â Her voice is tired, and itâs almost as if sheâs begging you for something, something you are not capable of, something you cannot give.
Begging for you.
âFrom moment we had our first kissâŚ.to the moment I said goodbye to you before you left for the cityâŚIâve only ever wanted youâ you can hear her getting closer, slowly making her way towards you as you stand there at the edge of your kitchen, frozen, silent, unable to say anything to her as she confesses these things to you.
âItâs pathetic, and Iâve tried to suck it up for your sake because I knowâŚ.youâre going through a tough time after that moron did what she didâŚ.but I canât fucking hide anymoreâ she breaths out, and it sounds the same exact way that Lilac sounded when she admitted to you that she had feelings for Ellie those nights ago.
Your back is still turned to her, and you know sheâs right behind you because her smell fills up your lungs and makes your eyes roll to the back of your head as you try to fight all of it back, everything that youâve done, all that youâve worked through from the moment you got home to get to the point that you were at currently.
But you feel all of it break the moment Ellieâs strong hand grips your shoulder gently, sighing softly as she speaks.
âLook at meâŚ.please angelâŚâ she begs, her skin wafting onto your neck as she tries her best to fight the urge to grab you right then and there and kiss you.
When you finally turn around, her heart breaks, because the whites of your eyes are red, and there are heavy tears pooling at the edge of your eyes, making them sparkle in the warm light of your kitchen, looking so beautiful yet so tragic all in the same time.
Her chest tightens as she leans in to cup your cheek, fighting back the urge to groan as she inhales deeply. âI canâtâŚI donât wanna pretend like Iâm not still in love-â youâre quick to cut her off, your tears spilling out onto her cheeks the moment you hear the word.
âDonâtâŚdonât say itâ you warn her with shaky words, struggling to even speak with the burning sensation in your throat.
You donât think you could handle it, hearing those words fall from someoneâs lips again, the fear rising the moment they hang from Ellieâs, flashbacks of youâre wife at the alter, promising you everything and more before she kissed you and whispered in your ear that she loved you.
Itâs scary, and it makes you feel terrified of Ellie.
Before she can carry on even further, trying her best to convince you that her words are true, silently begging you to hear her out as her wide green eyes stare down into yours, youâre cutting her off.
âI told you already EllieâŚIâm notâŚ.i canât do this again. I canât give myself to someone like I did with herâ your voice trembles as you explain, her vision blurring with tears as you try your best to swallow them all back.
She licks her lips as she stares down at you before she shakes her head. âI get itâŚ.I get that youâre hurting from what happened, but I canât keep going on without you knowing anymoreâŚ.â She starts to explain, both of her hands coming up to cup either side of your face, forcing you to look up at her.
âIâveâŚ.god Iâve longed for you from the moment you left after high school. There was not a day that went by where I did not think of you for even a few seconds. And Iâm sorry for what happened, and I understand if Iâm just a childhood fling for you, but Iâd rather you tell me that then try to push someone else onto me to distract me from what Iâve felt all these yearsâ she rambles on, nearly stumbling over her words as they all bubble up to the surface, overflowing and dragging you down with her.
You open your mouth for a moment before closing it, looking far too similar to a fish out of water as you try to find the words to say. What are you even supposed to say? Are you supposed to lie to her? Tell her that you havenât felt the same way? But now itâs different and it hurts to even try to envision yourself in a relationship with someone let alone pursue them? Even when itâs Ellie?
Your Ellie?
She watches as you struggle to speak, her eyes searching yours for even a sliver of hope that this will work, that her confession will bring you to a point where you can both meet, where things can be okay again.
And if they canât? She needs to hear you say it out loud.
âTell me you donât feel the sameâ she deadpans, hands dropping from your face as any hope she might have had slowly drains out, fizzling out of her system as she watches you simply stare up at her, a mere shell of the girl she once knew.
âTell me you donât love me, and Iâll never bring this up again. We can move on from this and we can be friends. I promiseâ she breaths out, feeling the air slowly leaving her lungs, making it hard to breathe.
You feel the exact same way. You feel like the world has stopped around you both as images of your life swirls around your head.
Thereâs images of your ex wife, taking the privilege of love from you, ripping your heart out of your chest and walking away with it the moment she decided to cheat on you. It hurts, and it burns and it feels like something youâll never recover from, something that leaves a wound so deep, that it will never grow the familiar leathery skin that itâs supposed to, creating a scar that acts as merely a memory for what happened, for what you endured.
And then thereâs something sweeter in the corner, so small that if you pay enough attention to the hurt in your heart, you donât even notice it.
Itâs memories of Ellie. Sharing your first kiss with her, going to prom with her, spending late nights with her in your bedroom talking about the future, spending time with one another that will leave sweet memories in your mind till the day you die. Itâs soft, and itâs easy and it makes your insides flutter with excitement at the mere thought of her by your side.
As youâre looking over all these parts of you, standing in your kitchen with Ellie and staring up into her eyes, you make a remarkable discovery.
You realize that if you try hard enough, the pain that comes from what your ex wife did doesnât hurt as bad, long as youâre focusing on the feeling that Ellie gives you.
Because when youâre with Ellie, you feel nothing but love.
You lick your own lips as you stare up at her, inhaling deeply before you shake your head, feeling your throat burn with tears before you speak.
âI canât do thatâŚ.â Your words trail off for a moment before your eyes drift down to her strong hands, missing the feeling of her skin pressed against yours.
You slowly reach forward to take her tattooed hand into yours, your fingers dancing along the intricate details of the leaves on her wrist before you interlock your fingers, finally looking up at her as your eyes well up with tears for what felt like the hundredth time that day.
âBecause IâŚ.feel the same wayâ you breath out, watching as her sage colored eyes glimmer with happiness, a gentle sigh of relief leaving her lips as she quickly moves her hand to cup your face, her other reaching down to hold onto your waist, pulling you close to her body.
âJesusâŚcâmereâ she practically moans out before she smashes her lips against yours in a passionate, love filled kiss.
You giggle softly, your hands wrapping around her wrist as you waste no time in kissing her back, arms coming up to loosely wrap around her neck as you press your chest against hers, reveling in the feeling of her lips pressed against your own.
You hummed a gentle tune to yourself as you mixed up the pitcher of lemonade, far too deep in thought to pay the bustling party behind you any mind.
One of your favorite parts about the summer time was the cookouts. There was something about nearly the entire town coming together at someoneâs house, enjoying the warm weather, the bright sun and good food, that made your heart burst with excitement.
You were just about ready to make your way to your backyard with the others, when you felt a firm hand sliding against your waist, smoothing down over the fabric of your flower sun dress and pulling you into their chest.
âDonât you think we have enough drinks baby?â Ellie hums out softly, pressing her lips against the base of your neck, making you giggle softly as you lean into her.
âItâs almost 100 degrees outside, EllieâŚI donât think too many things to drink is even a possibilityâ you explain before you turn around in her arms, smiling softly at the firm as you wrap your arms around her neck, leaning in to press a kiss to the corner of her lips.
âArenât you supposed to be on the grill? You better not burn all that food I boughtâ you playfully pinch her shoulder, which only makes her groan softly.
âItâs too hottttâŚ.wanna be inside with youâ she whines out, resting her head against your shoulder as she gently sways with you in the kitchen.
You hum as you nod, your fingers toying with the short hair at the nape of her neck. âI know babyâŚ.but your father will be very upset if he doesnât have at least one beer with youâŚcome on pretty girlâ you hum out to her softly, your hands sliding down to hold her around her middle before giving her a gentle pinch near her ribs, which makes her yelp out as she pulls away, a prominent pout on her sun burnt, freckled face.
âFineâŚbut come out with meâ she huffs out, leaning in to give your forehead a kiss before she makes her way outside, making you giggle softly.
You sigh softly to yourself, placing the lemonade on a small tray paired with some already filled red solo cups, and a few empty ones on the side that you knew would be getting filled up shortly after you brought them out. You had to move slowly with how full they were, groaning softly to yourself as you tried your best to not let them fall as you tried making your way through the crowd of people in your home.
âOh honey let me help you with that!â You hear Lilac chirp out as she quickly comes behind you, pressing her hands against your waist before taking the heavy pitcher off of the tray, making you sigh in relief once you saw the girl.
âThere you are! I was starting to think you wouldnât showâŚâ you pout out, smiling softly as the girl leaned in to press a friendly kiss to your cheek, which you were quick to lean into as well.
She giggled softly as she groaned. âDid you know that this party of yours is causinâ traffic out there?? Everyoneâs dying to come, I almost ran out with the rollers still in my hairâ she explains, making you giggle softly as she opened up your back door for you.
After everything happened with you and Ellie, you were terrified of what would happen with Lilac. You felt like youâd robbed the girl of something she wanted without even trying, even after being the one to tell her to go for it! Even after Ellie assured you time and time again that Lilac was always one to get innocent crushes on everyone, and that sheâd get over it in no time, you were still scared that youâd lose the girl as a friend after just making her one.
You were quickly proven wrong when you met her in town a few days after, texting her and letting her know you had something to tell her. Instead of her being upset about you and Ellie, Lilac was thrilled. She grabbed you and hugged you, and told you that she even wanted to celebrate with you and Ellie, explaining that her crush was as innocent as could be.
And before you could even realize, Lilac had become your best friend.
You giggle softly as the children practically jumped you once they saw the tall pitcher of ice cold lemonade, frantically grabbing the cups and chugging them down before running off to play in the sun.
Catching sight of Ellie with her father and a few of her coworkers makes your heart flutter, and you decide to fill up a few more cups of the cold drink as you make your way over to them, a soft smile on your face.
âLemonade anyone?â You chirp out softly, all of them taking them gladly before Ellie slung her arm around your waist, pulling you into her side as she pressed a kiss to the side of your head, carrying on with her conversation.
You donât miss the way Joel smiles fondly at the two of you over the edge of his cup.
And later that night, when everyoneâs left and the house is cleaned up, you lay with Ellie in your bed, the cool breeze blowing in through your windows, your bedroom illuminated by the white light of the moon.
Youâre tucked away into Ellieâs side, your thigh hooked over her body, one of her hands rubbing along your skin and massaging your leg, the other looped around your shoulder as you stare up at her lovingly, your hand dancing along her t shirt clad chest.
âDid you have fun today?â You question softly, which earns a gentle smile from the girl before she looks down at you, giving you a slight nod.
âThe best time babyâŚ.havenât seen so many people gathered around for a party in a long timeâŚyou did good angelâ she breaths out before she leans down, pressing a soft kiss to your cheek, which makes you smile warmly.
But the warmth doesnât just settle in your cheeks.
A simple kiss from your girlfriend makes it travel down your body. It warms your throat, your chest, your stomach, traveling all the way down until it settles right in between your legs, making you clear your throat to bite back a whimper.
Ellie frowns softly when she notices this, pulling away to look down at you as she continues massaging your thigh. âSomething wrong princess?â She questions, slight concern lacing her tone as she watches you with furrowed brows, her expression clear in the light of the moon.
When you and Ellie first started being romantic again, she promised you sheâd take things slow. Your relationship only went far as kissing, a few gropes here and there, but nothing further than a steamy make out session that ended once Ellie tapped your thighs and forced you off of her lap, fearing that she was pushing you too far.
At first it was extremely considerate of her. It was true, intimacy was a bit hard for you at first, somehow thinking of your failed relationship every time you tried, blaming your self for not pleasing your wife enough.
But as time went on, those thoughts were virtually silenced. You didnât even have the capacity to think of anything but Ellie when her tongue was down your throat, the feeling of her big hands on your body, and her toned thighs pressed between your legs.
So nowâŚGodâŚyou needed her more than anything.
You were almost embarrassed to even say it, but it was getting to a point that anything Ellie did was setting you into a frenzy. Just today, her toned arms in here wife pleaser and her denim jeans made your head spin, and your panties cling to your needy core.
Her frown deepened when you didnât answer, the girl turning over a bit to better face you before her hand came up to cup your cheek. âBaby? Whatâs the matter?â She questions once again.
You finally let out a soft sigh, eyes fluttering shut as you reach up to grab her wrist gently, keeping her close as you avoid looking into her eyes.
âIâŚ.need you EllieâŚneed you so badâ you sigh out softly, voice barely above a whisper.
Her frown only deepens further as she stares at you down in confusion. âNeed me? But angel Iâm right-â her words are cut off when she feels your grip on her wrist tighten, and your thigh hikes up her body further, pressing your core against her side.
Her eyes widen in realization.
âFuckâŚâ she breaths out, watches as your eyes flutter open to stare into her own, yours filled with want and need as your other hand moves down to hold onto her exposed hip gently.
âAre you sure baby? We canâŚfuckâŚwe donât have toâŚâ she struggles to get out, eyes glued to yours as she watches you.
You shake your head before you gently pry her hand from your face, bringing her fingers down to press against your lips before you sigh. âIâve thought about you every day since Iâve left EllieâŚof course Iâm sureâŚâ you sigh out softly before you open your mouth, taking her pointer and middle finger into your mouth as you slowly suck them in, moaning around them.
Ellie lets out a soft moan as she watches you, feeling her own clit pulse against her underwear as she quickly grows warm with a need similar to yours.
âThatâs my girlâŚfuckâŚ.been needy huh?â She moans out, making you nod before you roll over to straddle her, her other hand coming down to grip your hip softly, massaging your skin through the fabric of her own t shirt draped over your body.
You let go of her fingers with a pop before you stare down at her, a soft smile on your face as you move down to press your lips against hers, wasting no time in pushing your tongue into her mouth.
The kiss is slow, and sensual and dirty and itâs everything youâve wanted and needed since your divorce. Itâs nothing like kissing your ex wife, but itâs everything like kissing Ellie. The noises she makes has your head spinning, and it forces you to roll your hips down onto her, which makes her moan even louder into your mouth.
âFuckâŚwant you toâŚwanna feel your pussy on mine babyâŚcan you do that for me?â She questions out desperately, her hands roaming your body, pushing her t shirt up on your to reveal your tits.
Ellie had it all planned out. She wanted it to be romantic, she wanted to take things slow and show you just how much she loved you, just how serious she was about you. She wanted you to feel loved.
Oh did her plans not go as planned, but oh how you felt so fucking loved.
You nod eagerly, sitting up and tugging the t shirt off, tossing it somewhere in your room. Ellie moans loudly at the sight of you above her, hands reaching up and cupping either one of your boobs, pinching and rolling your nipples between her fingers.
Once sheâs had her fun, you climb off of her for a moment, tugging off her panties, giving her time to tug her sleep shorts off as well, leaving you naked and her bottom half bare. Sheâs feverishly tugging you back onto her lap, allowing you to tug her t shirt off.
And the feeling of your bare chest pressed against hers makes you moan loudly, your lips coming down again to press a needy kiss to hers, filled with tongue and teeth as you both situate yourselves.
The moment comes quickly, your legs slotted between hers perfectly, pussy right on top of hers as she stares up at you with low, hazy eyes, strong hands gripping your thighs and your ass as you slowly began rolling your hips so that your throbbing clit bumps against hers, making the girl beneath you moan loudly as her back arches and her eyes flutter shut.
âF-fuck! Oh myâŚ.fuuuuckkkkâŚthatâs it babyâŚfuck yourself down onto my pussyâŚoh myâŚ.ha-fuckâ she moans out, voice going hoarse as her strong fingers press firmly into your skin, sure to leave marks in the morning.
Your moans mix with hers, paired with the sound of your sopping wet pussies sliding against one another, a symphony of erotic love making that has been a long time coming. Itâs like the two of you let out every raw emotion that had been bottled up for all those years you spent apart, her longing, your hurt, it all mixes together to create something of a beautiful love song that belongs to the two of you, and no one else.
âEllieeeâŚfuck! FeelsâŚfeels so good..â you moan out, picking up the pace as you feel your orgasm growing closer and closer by the second, your bed creaking with every thrust of your hips.
Ellie canât take it anymore, moving to sit up as she grips both of your hips, aiding you in riding her pussy faster before she gives you an encouraging nod. âCome on babyâŚcum with me, yeah?â She sighs out breathlessly, staring up into your eyes passionately as she feels her own orgasm growing closer.
You wrap your arms around her shoulders, keeping her closer as you moan and whine, eyebrows furrowing with pleasure as you struggle to make it there, struggle to not let the pleasure get the best of you.
Your heart feels like itâll just burst.
âIâŚmmmâŚfuckâŚ.Ellie I love youâŚI love you so muchâŚâ you moan out, eyes fluttering shut as you feel right on the brink of your orgasm.
âThatâs my fucking girlâŚI love you so much babyâŚmore than youâll ever knowâŚâ she moans out to you.
And suddenly, you see colors.
Your chest feels like youâve been struck by lightening, struggling to even stay upright as your orgasm ripples through your body violently, your forehead resting against Ellieâs as your arousal mixes with hers, both of your orgasms so intense, so powerful, it feels like itâll kill you both right then and there.
The come down is hard, because itâs almost sorrowful to no longer feel the amazing feeling that comes with making love to Ellie, but the feeling of her strong arms wrapping around your middle and keeping you close is almost better, her lips pressing against your collar bones and chest as you both breath hard, the room silent compared to the noise that once filled it.
She holds you there the entire time, whispering how much she loves you, promising you that sheâll give you everything you could ever want and need.
And while youâve heard all of that before, just for it to end in shitâŚ.
You believe her, because this time? Itâll be different.

Too Sweet

Summary: Getting divorced from your ex wife after a measly two years of marriage wasnât exactly your plan, so now youâre packing up and moving back to your quiet small town, will old flings bring back even older feelings?
an: Count on me to hop from dark brooding vampire Ellie to high school sweethearts Ellie within the same month. Letâs just be completely honest, are you even apart of this community if you havenât dabbled in mechanic!ellie? Long story short, Iâm a sucker for a summer romance, so I hope you all enjoy!
Warnings: MDNI!! eventual smut in later chapters!!, this one is sickly sweet Iâm sorry (but also very angsty), reader is a bit of a tough cookie at the beginning of this (her hearts broken and her walls are back up what do you want me to do), mentions of cheating (no main characters donât worry, mentions of alcohol consumption (all characters are 21+ ofc), lots of flashbacks, lots of kissing, pet names (baby, princess, angel, and a few special ones), mentions of cigarettes, pls lmk if I missed anything!!
Read part 2 here!!
The summer breeze was cool against your body, the linen blanket protecting your bare legs from the prickly grass, the stars even seemed extra brighter, almost putting on a show for you and Ellie as you both gazed up at them.
The summer after your senior year of high school seemed to pass by in the blink of an eye. One moment, you were walking across the stage in front of your entire class, taking she diploma youâd worked for since you were in kindergarten, all of those countless years of school finally coming to that moment, and the next, youâre laid out on the ground in your backyard with Ellie, soaking in the feeling of your last night together before it was time to leave for college.
You noticed Ellieâs hand reach up, finger pointing to a small pair of stars at the very corner of the deep navy blue sky.
âSee those two? Tucked away in the corner? I think that oneâs usâŚâ she hummed out. It sounded like she was sure of it too, like it was a well known fact that she was simply sharing with you. It makes you giggle, rolling over to straddle the girl beneath you.
And itâs like the very stars above are in her eyes when sheâs looking up at you, her hands caressing your soft, bare thighs, watching as your hair frames your face oh so perfectly. One of her hands reaches up, tucking it behind your ear as she gives you a soft smile.
âWho told you could be so fuckin pretty?â She pouts out playfully, almost angry with how beautiful you are. It makes you roll your eyes, bringing your hand down and giving her cheek a soft pinch.
âShut upâŚâ you mumble out, quickly becoming shy beneath your girlfriendâs gaze.
In that moment, you realize just how much youâll miss moments like this. You were going off to the big city to live your dreams and go to college, and Ellie was staying behind because frankly, school was never really her thing. You knew that when both your decisions had been made, that it would more than likely affect your relationship. The thought makes you frown, and Ellie notices immediately.
Sheâs giving your thigh a soft pinch, sitting up and giving you all her attention.
âI thought we said no pouting todayâŚyou promisedâ she sighs out, leaning in and pressing a soft kiss to your cheek. It doesnât really help, your hands loosely wrapping around her shoulders as you stare down at her lap that youâre settled on.
âI justâŚknow that everything will change tomorrowâ you sigh out, a soft pout on your lips as you avoid Ellieâs gaze.
She hums out in understanding, listening to your worries, simply allowing you to voice them. She lets a moment pass by before she responds.
âItâll only change if we let itâŚIâll come visit you all the time, and you need to come back to bake me and my dad cookiesâ she hums out nonchalantly, giving you a gentle shrug, which only earns a soft huff and a nudge from you to her shoulder.
âIâm serious ElâŚI hate the idea of being without youâŚâ you huff out softly. She chuckles as you give her a shove before she leans in to give you another soft kiss.
âI am being seriousâŚâ she drawls out, pulling away from you and cupping your cheek softly, staring into your eyes with so much love and care, it was almost unbearable.
âYouâll always be my girlâŚyou know thatâ her voice is above a whisper, as if you and her were the only two people in the world. Sat there, in the quiet back yard of your even quieter neighborhood, the wind chimes clanking together on the front porch, paired with the sound of the rustling of the trees in the breeze, all of it coming together to create something of a perfect lullaby that can only be described as Ellie.
And her words make your heart bloom, giving you the hope that you needed to wake up in the morning and start your journey as a small town girl in the big city, knowing that if all else fails, youâd always have your Ellie to look forward to and depend on when you needed her.
Your cheeks almost feel sore with how big youâre smiling, leaning in and pressing a loving kiss to your girlfriends mouth, to which she accepts gladly, strong hands on your hips as she pulls you down to lay on her chest as her back hits the ground softly.
âI love you so much, EllieâŚâ you sigh out against her lips, barely giving yourself enough time to say it between the passionate kiss you two share. It makes her smirk against your lips, nodding as she gives your waist a gentle squeeze.
âLove you more, dream girl..â she hums out against you as she practically drowns herself in you.
Itâs funny, because while that all felt like it happened just yesterday, it had been almost five years since youâd last seen Ellie Williams in the flesh.
Because as most teenage girls do, they aim for the stars. They believe that the skyâs the limit in the adult world, and where thereâs a will thereâs a way, and tons of other stupid sayings that are just words used to promise yourself something that may or may not happen.
All of it was just that, words that didnât amount to anything.
Because you didnât expect for the city and college to be the way that it was. The first night you moved into your apartment was one of the most hectic youâd ever experienced. You were a girl from a comically small town, catapulted into this fast paced world filled with adults who were going and coming from work, other students trying to make a name for themselves, and people simply trying to live.
To put things into simpler terms, you just werenât available enough to keep Ellie in your life.
While she spoke to you on the phone almost the entire night of your first night in your apartment, soothing you and helping you sleep, and she made sure to text you in the morning and make sure you had everything you needed, your responses on the other end just became less and less frequent. Phone calls slowly stopped, text messages werenât getting answered, and you gradually disappeared from Ellieâs life, the city swallowing you hole and keeping you away from her.
The worst part about it? You barely even noticed Ellie wasnât in your life anymore. Between your classes and your job, you barely had enough time to breath let alone keep a relationship with your girlfriend.
It wasnât until about a year into city life that it all happened. You were so absent, that you didnât even realize Ellie sent you a message one day saying it was best to just be friends rather than try to keep a relationship, wishing you the best in a way that sounded far too understanding.
Before you knew it, you found a girl to take Ellieâs place in your heart. She was smart, and kind, and from the moment you laid eyes on her in a bar in the city one night after exams, you knew she had to be yours.
Soon enough she was, the two of you moving a bit too fast for your parents taste. Getting married fresh out of college wasnât exactly what they wanted for you, but you were happy! And thatâs all that truly mattered to you.
Man, should you have listened to them.
Two years. Two fucking years with the girl you were planning on devoting your loyalty to for the rest of your life was all you had, all you were given until you caught her fucking her coworker into the mattress of the bed you two shared. To say you didnât see it coming would be a lie. Your ex wife was a fucking moron who couldnât lie to save her ass. Youâd only been gaslighting yourself for the last six months of your marriage into thinking she was just going through a rough patch or even planning some romantic getaway for the two of you.
No romantic getaways though, only heartbreak.
It was like you couldnât even cry when you saw it, your body freezing at the sight of them in your bed once you followed the very loud trail of moans leading to your bedroom. The idiots, they didnât even have the decency to do it in a fucking hotel or something.
So as your wifeâs (ex wife) chasing you through your apartment, watching as you silently grab your suitcase and throw your things into it, the girl on your bed watching with wide eyes as she grips your favorite silk sheets against her chest to cover herself, you only truly have one thing on your mind.
âCome on babyâŚIâŚit was one time! You have to believe me!â Sheâs calling out like a wailing child, and the voice you once loved with all your heart sounds like nails on a chalk board. You swiftly tug your wedding ring off of your finger, tossing it onto the coffee table.
âMy lawyer will send over the divorce papersâ you speak out clearly, wanting her to hear ever fucking syllable that exits your mouth before you leave the apartment with the door slamming behind you, muffling her pathetic pleas behind the door.
You needed to go home.
Driving back to your home town was something youâd always imagine would be therapeutic. You imagined yourself packing your kids into a car with your wife, and making the drive all the way back to show them where their mommy grew up, allowing them to see a side of you that not many got to see.
This drive was nothing like that.
Instead, you were alone. Your old Cadillac your dad gifted you as a graduation present was practically begging you to get back on the road again. While it felt good to drive instead of taking a bus or a train, the circumstances made your heart ache.
While you didnât cry when you initially found out about your wifeâs affair, it all seemed to hit you on the drive back home, crashing down on you and making it hard to breath. You had to pull over and collect yourself for a good thirty minutes because the tears in your eyes were blurring your vision too much to drive.
You couldnât even feel excited to go home, not with the overbearing weight of heartbreak leaving an ugly feeling in your chest.
Itâs like your town is frozen in time. The same stores are there, the same shady trees, everything is just how you left it. It comes as a relief to you, because if your town had undergone a shitty futuristic makeover by some big corporate asshole looking for new business opportunities, you probably wouldâve lost your mind.
The street where your house sits is just the same. There are kids riding their bikes up and down the quiet block, reminding you so much of yourself when you were their age. They even wave to you, giggling and smiling at you as if youâd been there the whole time, even though youâre sure a handful of them were born well after youâd left town.
And there your house sits, quiet and empty, practically waiting for someone to step in and fill her up. Sheâd been void of any of your family members ever since your parents became empty nesters and decided to travel the world. They of course let you know that the house was more than yours when they found out about your divorce. They told you theyâd been needing someone to step in and take over for a while now since theyâd been gone, that you were just the person they needed.
You knew they were saying that just to make you feel better.
Stepping out of your car and looking up at the house that you once called home makes your emotions all the more intense. It makes you feel old, but it makes you feel like youâd moved too fast all at the same time, your feelings contradicting each other in that sense. You have to take a deep inhale, swallowing back the tears that threatened to spill out onto your cheeks as you took a moment longer to take in the big house before you decided it was time to start moving your stuff into the house.
Besides a new couch and some new paint, the house is virtually the exact same as the way you left it. It makes your heart ache, because you realize you havenât been back since the night you left when you were eighteen years old. You were too eager, too excited to leave behind the life your parents had built around you from the day you were born, that you neglected to even visit the world that theyâd created for you.
It makes you feel like a bad daughter.
And suddenly youâre crying again, with no one to hold or console you, remind you that everything is fine and it only feels like the world is crashing down on you. Your life had gone in a way that youâd never expected, taking a course that you never saw for yourself, and it had its way of ignoring everything that youâd achieved, instead making you feel like a failure.
Your bedroom hasnât changed either. The same shitty posters and figurines are still littered along your walls, your desk and your dresser, reminding you of all the silly little interests and hobbies you had as a young girl.
All the ones youâd forgotten as an adult.
It makes your heart ache, because it feels like everything is just crashing down on you and making you feel like all the things youâd been ignoring are practically begging, forcing you to acknowledge them, forcing you to feel them.
That first night back consists of you crying in the bath, followed by crying in your bed until youâve fallen asleep.
You donât leave the house for a few days, almost a week, thanking the forces of the internet that DoorDash had come to your small town, allowing you to feed yourself without the consequences of stepping out into town.
You werenât ready for that. You werenât ready for the people of your town to recognize you, to see the once happy, golden girl of their town that made it out of it all to get to the big city, back. Now lacking that sparkle she used to have in her eyes.
They all cared about you deeply, you could see it in the way they asked your parents constantly about you. But you couldnât face them, not yet.
It doesnât take long for the rest of your things that youâd shipped down to arrive at your house, a big truck stopping outside your house one early morning before setting everything in your garage. Once they left, you were faced with the task of moving all of the shit youâd accumulated in the city, into your new home.
And what a surprise it was when you were just about to grab a big box, only to see a familiar old grey truck pull up into your driveway next to your car.
Joel hadnât changed at all. He was still just as old and burly as you remembered, his eyes crinkling at the edges with those familiar little wrinkles and his smile shining through the thick hair covering the bottom half of his face.
âWell would you look at who the cat dragged inâ he chuckles out as he steps out of his car, old boots settling down onto the hot concrete of your driveway as his hand rested on the top of the car door.
His presence is enough to light up your face, quickly setting down the box as you rush out of the garage to meet the man outside of his car. The feeling of his strong arms wrapping around you in what could only be described as the closest thing to what hugging a bear feels like, temporarily mends your broken heart.
âDidnât think Iâd be seeing you againâŚitâs good to have you back kidâŚâ he sighs out, chin pressed to the top of your head as you press your head against his chest. You can smell the faint scent of pine and cigarettes, further proving how much Joel has managed to stay the same since youâd last seen him.
You donât trust yourself to respond, feeling the familiar tightening of your throat, the burning at your eyes and the tingle in your nose.
Joel had become somewhat of a second father to you, what with you and Ellie growing up together and all. Between your dad and hers being best friends, and you and Ellie being as close as you were, only to end up dating in high school, it wasnât exactly a shock that you two had become so close with each others families.
Despite the heat of the summer time sun beating down on the both of you, you canât bring yourself to let go of him. It feels like heâs the first person thatâs hugged you in a long time and youâre fighting back the urges to cry with a fucking bat.
He chuckles softly, giving you a gentle squeeze before he pulls back, looking down into your eyes only to see that theyâre pooling up with tears. You remind him so much of that little girl that was in and out of his home, stealing his daughterâs heart and running off with it to the big city to chase your dreams.
He can see so clearly just how much youâre hurting.
It makes him frown, bringing his hand up to ruffle your hair playfully.
You sniffle, biting back your tears as you stare up at the man. âWhat are you doing here?â You croak out, far too choked up to get a proper sentence out.
He hums softly as he looks up at the house, and then to the boxes filling up your garage, which he gestures to. âYour folks gave me a callâŚsaid youâd been cominâ homeâŚthey asked if Iâd be able to help you get settled inâ he explained, his eyes squinting a bit as if to size up the amount of things you had to take up before he gave a firm nod, as if confirming heâd be more than able to.
He looks back down at you, giving you his signature warm smile before he continues. âI was indeed freeâŚso here I amâ he confirmed with a chuckle.
You simply blink up at him, trying to gauge whether or not he knows, if your parents told him exactly why you were coming home along with telling him that you were coming back in the first place. Clearly you were moving back home, and he knew that youâd been married.
But he doesnât say anything further. He doesnât say heâs sorry, he doesnât ask if youâre okay. He simply treats it like youâre just coming back home because you want to, not because youâre running away from something.
You decide to simply leave it at that.
Soon youâre giving him a soft smile, nodding as you look back at the boxes before leading him into the garage. You let out a soft sigh as you look at the work cut out for you two before you gesture towards them.
âItâs a lot, Mr. MillerâŚand I donât expect you to help with everything so-â heâs quickly cutting you off, the older man scoffing as he bends down to grab one of the bigger ones in a way thatâs far too impressive for a man his age.
âMr. Miller? The city went and made you all formal? NowâŚcome inside and show me where you want theseâ he hums out casually, making you giggle softly before you grab a box yourself, moving to walk in front of him before you nod inside.
âFineâŚbut at least let me feed you once weâre finishedâ you make sure to add before leading him inside and show him where to place the box he had.
Soon, itâs nearly mid day and your garage is free of boxes. You almost donât believe how quickly you and Joel were able to get all of the boxes in, the man moving quick for his age. You had to bite your tongue from mentioning it, knowing that heâd scoff and tell you he could run circles around the young kids asses any given day.
He of course lets you hold up your end of the bargain, making him a sandwich and some freshly squeezed lemonade just in time for lunch. Sitting down with him at your kitchen table makes you face just how lonely youâd been in that house. Sure, you didnât mind doing things on your own, you were by yourself for the first three years of college before you met your ex wife. There was just something about being in your childhood home that was once bustling with life, always buzzing with the sounds of a family, now only filled with you and the soft patter of your feet against the wooden floor when you had to get from one point to another, that seemed to leave your heart feeling even more hollow than it already had become.
You knew that with some food and some spare time to simply sit with each other, conversation would erupt between you and Joel, so it didnât come to a surprise when he finally mentioned the elephant in the room.
The plates were filled with crumbs and some discarded sandwich crust, glasses half filled with ice and a few lemon edges as you sat across from each other, the warm summer breeze blowing the lacy curtains further into the house.
âI donât mean to pryâŚbut what made you decide to come home?â He questions innocently. You know he isnât doing it to gossip or lurk too deep in places that he doesnât belong, heâs simply curious. He could see that look in your eyes when he first got there, and he knew that there was something behind them begging to get out, begging to be heard.
It makes you hum, your fingers lazily wrapped around the white and yellow striped straw in your cup, swirling around the remnants of your drink before you let out a soft sigh.
âI umâŚmy wife and I got divorcedâŚâ your words trail off, almost ashamed to say them. You let out a soft scoff, nodding as you catch Joelâs shocked face before you continue.
âShe was sleeping with her coworkerâŚin our bedâŚâ you pour salt on the wound with that one, a soft chuckle leaving your lips before you sigh, finally looking over at Joel to see heâs giving you and apologetic frown, his hand reaching over to grip your hand on the table, giving it a gentle squeeze.
âKidâŚIâŚ.fuckâŚIâm sorryâ he tries, and youâre shaking your head to stop him before he can even continue further.
âI shouldnât have married her so quicklyâŚmy parents told me it wasnât a good idea but IâŚwas too eagerâ you mumble out with a shrug before you give him a soft smile, your hand moving up to give his a squeeze instead, wanting to assure the now sad man that everything was fine.
âIâm okay JoelâŚreallyâŚif anything itâs karma for what I did to Ellie-â heâs quickly cutting you off, seeing the way youâre simply talking out of your ass at this point.
Heâs shaking his head, settling back in his chair before he cuts you off. âNoâŚnuh-uhâŚEllie has never blamed you for how things ended and you know thatâ his voice gets a bit more firm, wanting you to fully understand what heâs trying to convey.
You canât help but frown as you stare down at the old kitchen table, far too deep in thought to even listen to the man. He can tell, he can see that youâre zoning out and getting deep in your head, so he pushes himself forward, resting his forearms on the table as he gets a bit closer to you.
âShe knew how much leaving meant to youâŚsheâs never once blamed you for anythingâ he tries again, this time trying to convey to you how truthful his words were, how much he truly meant them.
Hearing her name only makes your heart hurt more.
Because it felt like the universe was punishing you for not choosing her, for choosing the wrong girl instead of the one that youâd be given, the one that was simply perfect for you. You knew you were wrong for it, but was all of this necessary?
You donât say anything, simply giving the man a soft smile before you nod, moving to grab the empty plates and cups and moving them to the sink, desperately trying to escape the conversation.
You hear him hum softly behind you, knowing it means heâs going to speak further. âShe owns the car shop in townâŚ.bought it off of Mr. Johnson a little while after you leftâŚâ he explains.
The thought of Ellie had crossed your mind the moment you came to terms with the fact that you were moving back home. She crossed your mind a lot, but knowing that there may or may not would come a time where youâd have to face her again had your stomach in knots. You knew little to nothing about Ellie now, you didnât know what she was doing or whether or not she was still living in town, you didnât even know if she was with someone or not.
So to hear her father confirming that she was in fact still there, still around and not angry or bitter over the way things happened, it felt all too much like Joel trying to play Cupid between his daughter and her high school girlfriend.
His words make you freeze for a moment, your hands stilling against the dish and the sponge in your hand. He notices this, standing up from his seat at the table and moving to stand next to you, his palms pressing against the counter as his neck cranes down to eye you carefully.
âYou should stop byâŚsay helloâŚif you wantâ he assures you, wanting you to know that it was completely up to you and what you were comfortable with. You finally look up, giving the older man a soft smile before nodding.
âIâŚthanks JoelâŚfor everythingâ you manage, finishing up the dishes before you grab a nearby rag to dry your hands. He smiles warmly as he nods before he brings his hand up to check his watch, sighing softly as he nods his head towards the door.
âIâll be heading out now thenâŚI have some things I need to take care of in townâ he explains, looking down at you and giving you a slight nod. âYou call me if you need anything missyâŚyou hear?â He firmly reminds you before cracking a smile, reaching out and giving your arm a gentle squeeze before you walk him out of your house.
That night, Joelâs words echo throughout your head, and all you can think about is seeing Ellie again. Should you even consider it? Was it even a good idea for a newly divorced girl to be dabbling in the world of her old flings? Her first fling to be exact?? It all somehow sounded like a recipe for disaster.
Yet you couldnât stop yourself from mentally searching through your closet for an outfit to wear on your first official outing.
After about another week of sulking in your house, you finally haul an old pair of denim shorts and a nice white linen blouse and force yourself out of your front door. Sure, you wouldâve preferred crawling under your sheets and sobbing into your pillow, wondering why this had to happen to you, and why you couldnât have a long happy marriage like everyone else, but healing had to start somewhere. You knew that you couldnât do any of that if you continued wallowing in your own self pity.
The sun does a good job at pulling you out of your home. The weather was too nice to stay stuck inside of an old house all day. Summer vacation was in full swing, paired with the neighborhood kids bringing out the old sprinkler and everything, youâre sure you can even hear the ice cream truck coming down the road when youâre pulling out of your driveway.
Itâs like you can finally see the beauty of your little town whenever youâre put together with the intention of coming out. Itâs almost like the opposite of living life with rose colored glasses, instead you were blinded by a grey fog that came with your divorce, keeping you from truly seeing all that your home town had to offer.
Being in town does more for you than youâd ever imagine. Visiting the old faces that were once apart of your day to day almost makes it feel like youâd never left. Mrs. Charlotte still owns the little produce store, youâd always visit her after school and on the weekends because she always had some of the best strawberries no matter the season. The smile on her face when she saw you was one like no other, the woman grabbing you and pulling you into her chest the moment she saw you walk into her shop.
Mr. Johnny still owned the local photography store, he gave you your first job when you were sixteen years old. Heâs partially to thank for helping you pay for college. You couldnât believe your eyes when his little girl that you used to babysit was getting ready for her final year in high school, working in the same position you were when you were her age.
And Mr. and Mrs. Peters made sure to stop you when you were passing by their old pet store, Mrs. Peters unable to believe her eyes when she saw the golden girl passing by her old shop. She scolded you for not writing her earlier, letting her know that you were coming into town. You make it up to her by telling her youâre here to stay, and that youâll make it a point to have both her and her husband over for dinner one of these days whenever theyâre free.
So? Nearly nothing has changed. Sure, everyoneâs gotten a bit older, but so have you. Youâve changed, and youâve grown, and youâre so much different and so much more than the small towns golden girl that finally made it out to the big city, just to get her heart broken in the process of it all.
And thatâs what you remind yourself as you find yourself pulling up to the familiar car shop that Joel had mentioned the week before.
Itâs no surprise that Ellie ended up finding herself to be the owner of the local car shop in your town. Sheâd always loved cars, working on them, fixing them up, everyone in your school knew that if you had a problem with your vehicle, youâd call Ellie. She was the one that came together with your dad to fix his old Cadillac, fixing her up, turning her out and making her brand new for your adventures in the big city.
Standing in front of her shop makes your heart beat right out of your chest. But youâre here already, so you might as well just suck it up and walk right in.
As you do so, you canât help but let the lingering thoughts take over. The suns already setting at this point, and youâre sure sheâs close to closing up if she hasnât already. What even was the point? Ellie probably didnât even wanna see you! This was all Joelâs idea and what if he was just trying to make you feel-
âIâll be right there!â You hear a familiar voice call out from the back, making your heart beat faster just from the sound of it.
She sounds the same, yet more mature. Her voice deeper with a bit of roughness to it, making her sound all the more irresistible. It makes you stand in the opened garage of her shop, surrounded by all of the cars that are opened up or hoisted up into the sky, your hands gripping your bag almost nervously as you stand there, frozen, unable to move.
Soon, sheâs emerging from the back. She has a pair of navy overalls on, the sleeves tied around her waist, leaving her top half in a white wife pleaser, both of which were covered in motor oil and grease. Her arms are bigger, and covered in tattoos, something you remembered her saying sheâd do the second she got the money for it. Sheâs taller too, and her hair is shorter, gone is the familiar pony tail she always had, instead it stops just at the nape of her neck, messily tossed into a bun while a few strands rests against her skin. her features stronger too, sharper.
Sheâs so different, yet so similar to the Ellie you remember, your Ellie. She still has the power of taking your breath away with a single glance.
âWell Iâll be damnedâŚis that the dream girl?â She chuckles out with a soft smirk on her lips, pulling a red rag from her back pocket to wipe her hands clean. The nickname leaves goosebumps trailing down your skin.
Dream girl.
You recall the nickname from the many times you were with Ellie. Back when you two dated, sheâd go on and on about how perfect you were, how she knew you were the girl of her dreams, animated into real life from the moment she laid eyes on you. You were the girl of her very dreams, and she never failed to remind you of that. Ever.
Hearing her call you that has your lips twitching up into a shy smile as you give her a shrug.
âIn the fleshâŚâ you mumble out, biting back an embarrassed giggle as the girl clearly drinks you in, eyes shamelessly raking up and down your body.
âJesusâŚcome here!â She groans out as she rushes towards you, strong arms wrapping around your middle and pulling you up, spinning you around as she keeps you in her arms. It makes you laugh loudly, a deep guttural laugh leaving your lips, possibly for the first time since your divorce.
The feeling of Ellieâs strong arms wrapping around your body feels like your missing puzzle piece has been given back to you, like youâve been reunited with a part of you that you left behind far too long ago.
But sheâs so much stronger now, and sheâs older andâŚandâŚ
It all just feels so right.
âEllie stop! Put me down, youâre filthyâ you whine out, landing a playful slap to her sweaty arm as she chuckles, finally setting you back down onto the floor.
She chuckles softly, settling her hands on either one of her hips as she lets out a sigh, a soft smile on her face. âIâm surprised the town hasnât thrown a damn parade when they heard youâd be hereâŚmy godâ she sighs out, practically in awe with your very appearance.
âCome on back, Iâm just finishing some paperwork before I closeâ she nods her head to the back where she was moments ago, which you quickly follow her as she guides you.
Her garage is empty except for her, most likely working overtime after her employees had gone home, which was very much like Ellie. The walls are covered with the same posters of the bands you knew Ellie loved, as well as a healthy collection of vintage car photos, which isnât a shock at all since those were always the center of Ellieâs car obsession.
The place seems nice and worn in, it suits Ellie in the best way.
Your thoughts are interrupted when you hear her let out a soft hum. Sheâs leaned up against her work table, wiping her hands off further with her red rag before she tosses it over her shoulder, crossing her toned arms across her chest as she eyes you fondly, a soft smile on her face.
âYou havenât changed one bitâŚâ she hums out, eyes trailing on your face as she keeps that fine smile on hers. It makes you feel shy, the same way you felt all those years ago when your feelings for Ellie really started to shine through, and every little thing sheâd say would have you giggling like an idiot.
You roll your eyes, biting back a smile as your top teeth sink into your bottom lip, shrugging as you move your hands up to loosely rest on your own arms.
âPleaseâŚthe city has practically chewed me up and spit me outâŚIâm surprised I donât have wrinkles yetâ you huff softly, bringing your hand up to your forehead to make sure you werenât frowning again, a habit youâd picked up recently.
Getting cheated on made you far too miserable.
She chuckles, shaking her head as her pink tongue darts out to lick her lips, still soaking you in like she would the sun.
âNahâŚa face like that? Not even the city could ruinâ she adds, giving you a small wink.
It warms you heart up in the best of ways, finally giving you a moment to stand still and enjoy life without letting the actions of your ex wife consume you. She makes you forget all about it, reminding you of a time where the thought of getting cheated on, didnât even cross your mind.
You two stand there for a moment, seemingly taking each other in, enjoying the moment. Itâs clear that sheâs flirting, and it feels so similar to the days of your old life. It feels like the times where you and Ellie would spend hours talking outside your house or hers, when youâd shyly smile and giggle at one another when you were unsure of your feelings, when things were fresh.
You can tell Ellie feels it too, because sheâs quick to blink a few times in your direction before she clears her throat, smile dropping as she turns around to busy herself with something on her desk.
âHowâs that wife of yours? Sorry I couldnât make it to the weddingâŚwas umâŚ.was busyâ she mumbles out.
Although her back is facing you, you can practically hear the way her eyebrows furrow and her lips twitch into a frown. It was a subject that you two hadnât spoken about much. Youâd told Ellie about your ex wife when you two first started dating, and you told her about the engagement and the wedding youâd been planning, because before anything else, Ellie was your friend, and you two shared everything with each other.
But you couldnât ignore the almost nauseating weight that settled in when you spoke to her about it. The way she tried to seem as happy for you as she could without letting underlying feelings bubble up to the surface.
You could sense that same weight now, as she asked you about the woman that broke your heart.
It rips you away from the little fantasy youâd been given with Ellie, reminding you of the dark reality of why youâd returned, and what it was that had forced you out of the city and back to your home town. Thinking about telling Ellie about what happened and actually doing it were two very different things, and the seconds of silence that passed between you began to turn into minutes, minutes where you silently begged to disappear into thin air instead of admitting to Ellie what it was that happened.
âUmâŚsheâŚâ you stuttered out, struggling for a moment before your eyes fluttered shut, and you took a deep inhale, grounding yourself before you finally spoke once more.
âWe got divorced.â You finally manage to get out, your balled up fists finally relaxing down at your sides as your shoulders deflate, the weight of your situation finally releasing itself from your body as you admitted it to her.
You see her still for a moment, movements halting completely as she struggles to comprehend what it was that youâd said, what it was that she was hearing.
Hearing about your girlfriend was a jab to the chest, but it wasnât like she didnât see it coming. Plus, itâs just a girlfriend! And you were all the way in the city anyways, who was Ellie to be jealous of that? Hearing about your engagement was also fairly hard, it wasnât like she spent countless nights at the bar drowning out her sorrows over the one that got away. Seeing your actual wedding invitation though? Man, that was fucking hard. Ellie isnât entirely sure how she got through that part. Ignoring it was the easiest way how.
Ellie would spend night after night wishing on a single star that youâd get divorced from that woman, knowing deep down she wasnât the right one for you. Call it a gut feeling or call it jealousy, whatever it was, there was a constant lingering feeling that Ellie had ever since youâd gotten married that left a bitter taste in her mouth, one that she felt wouldnât end well with that girl.
And now youâre here, standing in the middle of her old car shop, telling her that you were in fact divorced, and one of the countless stars in the sky has listened to her.
But she canât move. Sheâs frozen in place as she eyes the papers on her desk, that now have no purpose to her since the only thing she can focus on is your words. It makes you nervous, and you take it was an opportunity to clear your throat, wanting desperately to cut the silence in half.
âYour dad told me you owned this place nowâŚso I thought Iâd visitâŚâ you mumble out awkwardly, struggling to find the words to say to Ellie as she simply stood there, back turned to you for what felt like an eternity.
She inhales deeply, finally turning around to face you. You werenât entirely sure what you expected her expression to read, but youâre surprised to see that sheâs frowning, a soft sigh leaving her lips as she leans her palms back on her desk, shaking her head a she eyes you.
âAlways knew those city girls were no goodâŚIâm sorry sweetheartâ she sighs out genuinely. You give her a shrug, shaking your head as you send a half smile her way.
âIâm just glad it happened sooner than laterâŚsaying I have an ex wife is cool thoughâ you snort out, which earns a chuckle from Ellie as she nods in agreement.
âVery coolâŚmakes you sound all grown upâ she winks at you before she nods her head at you. âYou still staying at your old place? Or did you find somethinâ in townâ she hums out, clearly trying to change the subject for your own comfort.
And hersâŚ.
You hum softly as you nod, gesturing off to the direction of your home. âYupâŚmy parents treat the place like itâs a vacation homeâŚI was practically taking it off their handsâ you sigh out in fake annoyance, which makes Ellie laugh softly as she nods.
âManâŚhavenât seen those two in a couple of years. Youâd think theyâre on their honeymoonâ she adds, making you giggle as well.
The summer breeze blows swiftly against your body, your hair blowing with it, fallen blossoms from the apple trees in town dancing along your feet. It doesnât help that youâre dressed in the same pair of denim shorts Ellie used to love so much, looking all too familiar to the girl of her passed, yet so different at the same time.
She stares at you shamelessly, smiling fondly as she simply takes you in.
You furrow your eyebrows, biting back a smile as you eye her closely. âWhat are you staring at, Williams?â You ask her, clearly teasing the girl as she gives you a shrug, biting down on her bottom lip as she gives you a smile.
âYou expect me to not stare when a pretty girl is stood in my shop? What do you take me forâ she shoots out far too smoothly, making you roll your eyes. You shoo your hand at her, turning around to make your way back to your car, knowing that if you stay any longer, youâll probably end up getting charmed by Ellie all over again.
As if she hadnât already done that the moment you laid eyes on her.
âIm freshly divorced missyâŚnot exactly the top choice at the marketâ you scold her jokingly, giving her a small wave as you walk out onto the curb, making your way back to your car.
âJust wanted to stop by and say helloâŚdonât wanna keep you any longerâ you hum out, giving the girl a small smile as your hand reaches for the handle of your car.
Ellie is moving before she can think, eyes widening as she quickly follows you out to your car, her larger hand gently resting over your own as she moves to pull your car door open for you.
âMy umâŚmy number hasnât changedâŚif you still have it and you wanted to talkâŚor hang out or somethingâŚâ she mumbles out shyly. For a moment, you see her drop the smooth, suave demeanor she had mere moments ago, saying all the right things and strumming all the right chords. For a moment, sheâs Ellie. Sheâs the Ellie that stuttered and struggled to get the words out when she asked you out the first time, or asked you to be her girlfriend.
Sheâs the Ellie that you make nervous.
âDo youâŚhave my number still?â She asks nervously, worried sheâd been reading into this all wrong. It makes you giggle, nodding as you lean your back against your car, staring up at the girl before you speak.
âOf course I have your number, EllieâŚwouldnât lose it for the worldâ you hum out as you give her a soft smile, which has her eyes twinkling as she gives you a small smile.
âGoodâŚâ she managed out as she watches you get into your car.
She hums as she leans down, pressing her arms against the edge of your window, looking into your car before she looks at you. You feel your insides burning at how fucking close she is at that.
âA buddy of mine sâgot a gig down at the Copper Cat this SaturdayâŚif you wanted to come outâ she casually invites you, eyeing you closely to try and gauge your response to it.
Your eyes widen a bit at the mention of the old bar, memories swirling into your head like a hurricane. âThe Copper Cat?? That place is still opened??â You practically shriek in shock of the old bar still being up and running. Your response makes Ellie chuckle as she nods.
âYupâŚand itâs better than ever too. They remodeled last summerâ she explains, you donât miss the proud smile on her face as she practically beams at you. You giggle softly as you nod slowly before you hum, looking down at your lap for a moment as you thought about it a bit. Your ex girlfriend was inviting you to some mediocre show at an even more mediocre bar in the small corner of your town, and you were newly divorcedâŚ
What could go wrong with that
You smile up at her before giving her a nod. âText me and let me know what time youâll be thereâ you give her a nod, confirming that youâll come. You can see the see the way her eyes practically twinkle at that, nodding eagerly as she smiles.
âIâll pick you upâ she quickly replied, leaving no room for you to decline, because sheâd already pushing herself up and off of your window, giving you a bright smile as she nods her head in the direction of the main road.
âGo onâŚbefore I keep you here even longer than Iâm supposed toâ she gives you a wink, which sends your heart until a flurry of emotions, sparking it all up all over again before you roll your eyes playfully, and drive off after giving her a small wave goodbye, her smile seemingly seared into the forefront of your brain as you grinned like an idiot while making your way back home.
GodâŚwere you fucked.
This wasnât a date.
This was simply two old friends catching up after a long time! Ellie had asked you to come out because she probably felt bad for you. She could probably see the tears stained into your cheeks and the absolute trail of sadness that followed you around and thought, âthis girl could use a night outâ, so she invited you.
This wasnât a date.
It was a pity invite! A date would have been some place nice. Ellie was romantic, you knew that. Sheâd treated you better in your puppy love relationship than most girls did while you were in the city, so of course suggesting to go to the bar was keeping it friendly.
This wasnât a date.
It wasnât a date. It was just you going out to a bar because youâre single now and you can do what you want without feeling guilty or wrong for doing fun things. Thatâs all. It wasnât a date at all.
But if it wasnât a dateâŚwhy were you so fucking nervous.
You visited Ellie at her shop on Monday, you werenât set to see her again until Friday night, so why was it the only thing you could think of? You could only think of what to wear, how to act, if you should text her or not, would that be pushy? Would that be overstepping? She told you her number hadnât changed! So obviously that meant she wanted you to text herâŚ.right?
Right?
God, who knew at this point. All you knew, was that you were set to see Ellie this weekend. Regardless of it being a date or not, it was nerve wracking. So when Friday afternoon finally rolls around, you find yourself partaking in things that are a steering a bit too close to pre date activities.
Such as making sure your entire body was nice and moisturized, but that was just for you! That wasnât for Ellie to touch or squeezeâŚor making sure your hair was cleaned and styled, thatâs just because you want to be presentable! You canât let the people of your town see the mess your ex wife made. Or doing your makeup and picking out the perfect outfit. That was simply becauseâŚyou wanted to! Nothing more, nothing less.
You settled on a simple yellow sundress with pink flowers, it hugs your middle perfectly and flows down to your calves, making it just enough to look like you put a bit of effort into your appearance. It almost felt like a breath of fresh air to haul on any old pair of shorts or a nice dress to go out, something the city rarely allowed. The city was too into appearances, everyone needing to wear the best clothes and the trendiest styles when setting foot outside, especially on a night out. It was fun, but it became exhausting after a while, all you wanted to do was to wear your comfy clothes without getting nasty looks.
The beauty of living in a small town.
When youâre finally ready, you catch a quick look at yourself in the mirror, more than happy with your overall appearance before you take a deep breath, and send Ellie a text.
Hii :)
Iâm all ready whenever you wanna come by
It doesnât take more than a few seconds for Ellie to read and respond to your messages.
Awesome :)
Iâm omw
You smile softly at her messages, heart beating a bit faster at the thought of her coming over as you click your phone shut, and move to sit in your living room to wait for the girl to arrive.
Itâs almost comedic how quickly you move to sit on your couch, knee bouncing anxiously as you wait for the girl to pull up to your house. Sitting there gives you too much time to think, too. Because what if this is a bad idea, what if youâre just blinded by the manic excitement that comes with seeing Ellie again, the thrill of being with her, because youâre still very much heart broken, and it isnât like everything will simply disappear once sheâs-
And suddenly you canât think anymore, because all you can hear is a firm knock at your front door, echoing through your house.
It catches the air in your lungs and practically runs with it, leaving you panicking as your eyes flutter between the front door and the clock, and you realize itâs been about fifteen minutes since Ellieâs texted you, and youâd just been sitting on your couch overthinking as always.
Your feet seem to have a mind of their own as they carry you to your front door, moving to open it before you can even come to terms with opening up for it.
And if you think Ellie looked good when you saw her at her shop? GodâŚyou didnât know what good looked like until now.
The white t shirt she wears hugs her body beautifully, covered by an old leather jacket that fits her even better. Her toned thighs are clad in what you can only assume to be expensive blue denim jeans, simply by how perfectly they fit her. Itâs all covered with a fucking cherry on top when you take in her black boots, and a singular silver necklace dangling from her neck.
Youâre sure sheâll notice your heart beating out of your chest any second now.
Sheâs smiling brightly when she takes you in, eyes raking down your form before she chuckles. âLook at youâŚcould almost pass for one of us small town folk in that one..â she hums out, nodding in approval at your laid back outfit.
It makes you roll your eyes, landing a playful nudge to the girls arm as you adjust your bag further on your shoulder. âPleaseâŚI dressed like this even when I lived out thereâ you try to defend yourself, giving her a small frown before you nod your head out to her car.
âShould we get going? Wouldnât wanna miss the main actâ you hum, wanting to get out of your house desperately.
Half of the reason being because you seriously needed to get out of your house and socialize with people that werenât your motherâs porcelain figurinesâŚ.
And the other half being you simply couldnât handle the close proximity of someone as good looking as Ellie much longer.
She hums softly as she nods, stepping to the side and she gives you a bit of space to walk out of your house. âAfter you, city girlâ she teases you once again, earning yet another look of warning from your end, which she simply giggles at.
You canât contain the gasp you let out when you finally lay eyes on Ellieâs ride. The vintage black mustang practically sparkles in the low light of the afternoon sun. You canât help yourself from reaching out and running your fingers along the shiny body of the car.
âJesus Christ EllieâŚ.if I knew youâd pick me up in this, I wouldâve dressed nicerâ you practically gasp out. Ellie chuckles softly as she watches your reaction closely, nodding slowly as she looks at the car with you.
âHeyâŚcity girl comes to town? I need to pull all the stopsâ she explains with a nonchalant shrug. It makes you groan in annoyance, because did Ellie truly have to be this perfect? Couldnât she have grown up to be a moron like your ex wife?
Why did she have to be something out of a fucking romance novel.
Youâre too in awe with the vehicle to acknowledge her remark, a soft, dreamy sigh leaving your lips as you bend down a bit to look at the cream colored leather interior. âYou fix this up yourself?â You hum out softly, although you already knew the answer to that question, you wanted to hear her gloat about it.
You can practically hear the cocky grin on the girls face as she nods. âIs the sky blue? Come on angelâŚyou know nobody does it like meâ she grins out, moving to stand behind you.
âLonger you stare at her, less time you have in herâŚâ she practically purrs out. You have to ignore the way your stomach does flips at her tone, nodding eagerly as you rush to the other side of the car, to which Ellie quickly beats you to it.
âNu-uh-uhâŚa lady never opens her own door, especially a city-â you press your hand to her mouth, silencing her from finishing her sentence as you give her a displeased look.
âFinish that sentence and Iâm going back insideâ you deadpan, which makes Ellie quickly nod as she gives you wide eyes, opening the door for you in silence. You giggle softly, patting her cheek gently before you get into her car. âMuch betterâ you praise her.
She chuckles softly, waiting for you to get in before she rushes to her side to get in and start driving as well.
The familiar bar hasnât changed at all since youâd last been there. Itâs almost scary how much everythingâs frozen in time in the small town, leaving little to no room for changes. It makes you sigh softly, a gentle smile on your lips as Ellie pulls into the parking lot.
âManâŚ.this place really never changes, huh?â You sigh out almost in awe, which makes Ellie chuckle as she shuts the car off.
âWhat can I sayâŚ.Our town prioritizes traditionâ she teases before she looks over at you, giving you a soft smile before nodding her head towards the building. âCome on, my buddy should be up any moment nowâ she urges gently before she gets out of the car, prompting you to follow when she opens up the door for you.
Inside, the place is buzzing. Filled to the brim with the people of your town, young and old, all of them eager for a night of fun after a long week of work. The atmosphere differs greatly from what youâre used to, the clubs and bars back in the city always having a strange vibe to them, one that you couldnât ever really put your finger on.
Being there, with the people that had been born and raised in the same town as you, you were finally able to remember what it was that was missing in the cityâŚ
It was that the people here, were actually having fun.
âIâm gonna grab a drink, you want one?â Ellie leans down next to you, her voice raising a bit to combat the loud music that was already playing. You hum softly, trying your best to ignore the way her scent fills your knows and almost makes you feel drunk. You merely give her a nod and a soft smile before leaning in to speak into her ear as well. âA rum and coke if thatâs okay!â You shout out to her, which earns a smile and a nod. She gives your arm a gentle squeeze, âfind us a spot, Iâll find you when I have themâ she urges before disappearing off into the sea of people to find the bar.
You let out a breath youâd seemingly held from the moment Ellie picked you up from your house, exhaling loudly as you look around at the packed room. There are various booths and stools available to sit, but you opt to lean up against a nearby wall, mainly because you seriously needed a time out from the amount of people there.
You truly didnât expect for so many people to be there, thinking that it would be a barely packed house with a few of Ellieâs friends there to watch the mystery person sheâd been boasting to you about. You couldnât tell if everyone was there to see the performance, or if they were there simply to socialize and drink. You figured it was a mix of both.
Quite a bit of time passes by, and it makes you wonder if Ellie got lost or was having trouble finding you or something. You knew it was stupid to stand on the wall, so you figure youâd search for her instead.
Pushing yourself off the wall and emerging into the sea of people makes you frown, apologizing and squeezing through various people, trying your best to map out where the bar should be. You feel you can just make out the flooded area, when you finally spot Ellie.
And the girl thatâs been keeping her from you.
You can see Ellie holding your drink in her hand, and one you can assume is for herself as the girl chats her up. You can barely make out who Ellie is speaking to, but from the back? You can tell sheâs a looker. Her pretty hair falling down her back, attractive figure, even the way she leans in and presses her hand against Ellieâs arm whenever she laughs makes it clear that this girl is pretty, because all pretty girls know how to flirt in just the best ways possible.
And itâs the strangest fucking feeling, because even thought you caught your ex wife fucking another woman in the bed you both shared, what you feel when you see another girl touching Ellieâs arm doesnât come close to anything youâve ever felt before.
Because youâve never had to see this. Youâve never had to see someone else throw themselves at Ellie. When you were dating, everyone knew that you were hers and she was yours, and even before you two were dating, everyone assumed you were both off limits anyways. It was something that you never had to face, because in the entire time that youâd known Ellie, she was yours.
But now she wasnât. And it was clear that everyone knew that.
It makes you want to turn around and go home, ignore the ugly feeling in the pit of your stomach, call a cab and hide in your house for another month. You werenât ready for this, these feelings that you were faced with were too much, and too fucking confusing. You wanted your bed, and your room, and your house where you were safe and no one and nothing could hurt you, you just needed to turn around and-
âAwe, there she is. Over here!â Ellieâs voice calls out over the loud music, cutting each and every one of your loud, annoying thoughts in half. Your eyes widen a bit when the girl finally turns around, only confirming the point that you had come to earlier. If anything, she puts all of that to shame, because sheâs even more beautiful than you could have ever imagined.
You donât recognize her, but sheâs smiling brightly and waving you over as if she recognizes you, beckoning you over as if youâd all been friends since you were babies. You have to stop yourself from frowning, knowing both this girl and Ellie owed you nothing. You put on a smile, inhaling deeply and making your way over to the both of them.
âSorry I took so long, I couldnât find you anywhereâ Ellie quickly apologizes as she hands you your drink. You quickly shake your head, clearing the lump that had formed in your throat before you give her a small smile.
âUhâŚno worries. I was in an awkward spot anyways, so thatâs my faultâ you assure her.
She can tell somethingâs wrong just in the way youâre speaking, and it makes her eye you closely, trying to gauge your expression, eager to figure out whatâs made the sudden change in your mood. It makes her frown slightly, eyebrows furrowed as she peers down to watch you before she leans in a bit. âYou okay?â She questions softly, her hand coming up to squeeze your arm gently.
The tone of her voice and the hand on your arm makes you want to explode. It makes your head spin and it makes you want to scream at the top of your lungs, because Ellie does not owe you anything! She isnât your girlfriend, and this is simply two friends catching up after not seeing each other for a long time, and it was absolutely doing your head in that she was speaking to you like that wasnât the case.
So you give her a smile, nodding quickly as you shake her hand off of your arm. âIâm fine, just a bit flustered with the crowdâŚumâŚis this your friend?â You as gently as you gesture towards the girl that was politely standing there as you and Ellie had a moment, not daring to intervene as she quietly sipped on her drink and people watched, as to not make things even more awkward than they already were.
Ellieâs frown deepens when you shake her grasp off, eyeing the way her hand falls from your arm. It leaves a bitter taste on her tongue, not used to this far off, separated feeling thatâs settled between the two of you. She wants to dwell on it further, but your question makes her blink out of her confused daze, looking over at the girl standing in front of her.
âFuckâŚright, yes. This is Lilac, she moved into town a few years agoâ Ellie explains.
Great, even her fucking name was beautiful.
Youâre met with the prettiest pair of eyes when Ellie says her name, the girl smiling brightly as she hears Ellie introduce her.
âAhh no need to be formal, darlinâ. Ellie has told me so much about youâ she practically squeals out.
Youâre a bit taken aback when instead of shaking your hand, she tugs you in for a hug, arms wrapping around your waist and pulling you close, nearly making you spin your drink. Your eyes widen, using your free arm to wrap around her shoulders and hug her back. You catch Ellie chuckling softly as she brings her drink to her lips, trying to hide her smirk.
Lilac pulls away, pretty glossy lips pulled into a smile as she eyes you, a gentle sigh leaving your lips as she takes you in. âI was wondering when Iâd get to meet youâŚI promise you, Iâd hear at least half the town going on and on about you the first month of living hereâ she giggles out. You smile softly as you nod, taking a sip of your drink before you shrug.
âSorry about thatâŚIâve been hiding I guessâ you mumble out sheepishly, lips ghosting over the rim of your cup as you desperately try to take in as much of your drink as you could without slugging it down like an animal.
There was no way youâd be getting through this night sober.
Ellie watches as the two of you interact, smiling softly as she takes a sip of her own drink ever so often before she intervenes.
âLilac works on the daily paperâŚ.came in and made it all fancy for usâ Ellie chimes in. Her words make Lilac giggle softly, leaning in and pressing her hand against Ellieâs arm, giving her a gentle push.
You try your best to ignore how much that fucking annoys you.
âOh please. All I did was order in some new printing paper and add pretty fonts. Donât let her fool youâ she chirps, leaning into you with raised eyebrows as she gives you a giggle. You donât even have time to respond to her before sheâs asking you another question.
âI hear youâre from the cityâŚIâve dreamed of being there all my life, canât imagine what would bring someone back to a little town like thisâ she sighs out almost dreamily.
Although thereâs no malice or blunt force to her words, you canât help but take it that way. Itâs clear sheâs simply making conversation, trying to get to know you better. Maybe itâs the liquor slowly but surely making its way through your system, making you feel looser, making your tongue looser.
âWasnât really my planâ you make out, eyes drifting elsewhere as you bring your cup back to your lips.
GodâŚ.you just wanted to go home.
She doesnât quite catch the bitter tone in your words, because soon enough thereâs an announcement echoing through the bar, and you know itâs time for that friend that Ellie had mentioned earlier to get on stage and perform.
Lilac squeals excitedly, jumping up and down as her hand grips Ellieâs arm, the girl clearly over the moon for whoever it was that was performing.
GreatâŚ.she knew the guy too?
You have to stop yourself from rolling your eyes, the foreign feeling of jealousy tapping on your shoulder, reminding you of all those intense feelings youâd once had for Ellie. Bringing your cup to your lips to occupy yourself makes you realize the drink was done, making you groan softly.
Your eyes drift over to Ellie and Lilac, both of them enamored with the man that was beginning his on stage. It makes you sigh softly before you lean into them, shouting over the loud music.
âIâm gonna get another drink, you guys want anything?â You barely make out over the loud guitar riff, the both of them denying before they brought their attention back to the musician. With that, you swiftly make your way through the crowd over to the bar.
The second youâre pressed up against the bar, it feels like you can breathe again. Your cheeks felt hot, your chest felt hot, hell, your entire fucking body felt hot. And the worst part of it all, is you could barely decipher the feelings that were plaguing your mind and body.
You sighed softly as you thanked the sweet bartender for the drink. There was enough space at the bar for you to turn around and gaze at the crowd, eyes drifting along the sea of people as you simply sipped on your drink, trying your best to regroup after the entire situation with Lilac.
Because it was weird. All of it was so fucking strange and it was doing your head in. The feeling that sank to the bottom of your stomach when you first laid eyes on them was one you couldnât recognize. It was rare that you ever felt jealousy in your last relationship, which was honestly something that made you feel quite secure in your marriage. Your wife never truly gave you any reasons to feel that way, her attention always on you, never failing to make you feel like the only girl in the room. Thinking back to all of it, the way your marriage ended was almost comedic.
So seeing Ellie, your ex girlfriend of almost five years, and Lilac, one of the most beautiful girls youâd ever laid eyes on, simply laughing and touching one another as friends do? It made you want to rip the entire building you stood in, brick, by brick.
The thoughts alone make you frown, a gentle sigh leaving your lips as you stare down into the fizzy cup of ice, alcohol and soda in your hand. You feltâŚso conflicted, so wrong for allowing these feelings to fill you up and make you feel so intensely about someone who didnât even feel that way about you anymore, and did you even feel that way about her anymore? It was just Ellie. She was your best friend before anything else, so what if she flirts with a pretty girl! Youâd be stupid to think she didnât have other people in her life after you left. What? Did you think sheâd simply sit around waiting for you-
But when you finally lift your eyes up to scan the crowd again, what you find brings all of those thoughts to a halt once again.
Because now youâre seeing Ellieâs hand placed on Lilacâs middle, leaning in as the pretty girls lips ghosted along Ellieâs ear, giggling as she whispered unknown words to her.
And thatâs when you realized, you couldnât do this.
You quickly down the rest of your drink, shoving your hand into your purse and grabbing a fistful of money, sliding it over to the bartender and telling him to keep the change in a low voice. You pass the glass over to him, and begin making your way out of the sea of people in the dimly lit room.
You were stupid to think this was a good idea. Your emotions were so scattered, so messy and cluttered in your head. You were going through a fucking divorce, and now you were getting angry over the mere thought of your ex girlfriend standing next to another girl, let alone going further than that. You needed to get your shit together, and if that meant cutting newly mended ties with Ellie, then so fucking be it.
And itâs as if the once crowded bar isnât able to cover your escape, because you can faintly make out the sound of someone calling for you. You cross your fingers, and hope that itâs someone from high school that just so happens to be there, recognizing you and trying to get a moment with you before youâre able to pounce out of the building.
But unfortunately for you, itâs not. You keep going anyways, hoping that Ellie will drop it or get caught up with someone or something else along the way of her high speed chase for you, but of course, she doesnât.
You let out a loud sigh when you finally push past the heavy metal doors of the bar, the cool summer breeze wafting against your clammy skin, cooling down your warm cheeks. You hadnât even realized it before, but you were practically covered in sweat from all the excitement that had washed over you in such a short amount of time.
Ellie is quick to wrap a gentle hand around your wrist, stopping you from running further.
âHeyâŚwhere you runninâ off to? Shows barely even startedâ she pants out, her own cheeks flushed from pushing and shoving through people to get to you.
The ugly little monster that is jealousy dies immediately when you turn around to look at her. Partially because you know you need to quickly make up an appropriate excuse to your sudden departure, because surely you couldnât tell her the true reason behind your disappearanceâŚ
And also because just looking at Ellie makes you feel whole again.
You let out a gentle sigh before giving her a half smile. âIâm uhâŚIâm pretty tired and I feel a tad drunk. You and Lilac looked like you were having fun so I didnât wanna botherâŚâ you explain, ignoring the way the sweet girls name leaves a rather bitter taste on your tongue.
Ellie nods, her expression gentle and understanding as she fishes her keys out of her pocket. âYou shouldâve told me. Come on, letâs get you homeâ she affirms with a soft smile, nodding her head towards her car as she begins leading you over.
Her words make you quickly shake your head, stepping in front of her to stop her from getting closer to her car.
âNo! No Ellie itâs fine. You were really excited to come tonight and I donât wanna stop you from having fun so just go back in and-â youâre rambling at this point, a common habit youâd developed since you could speak. Ellie knew this, because every time you were flustered, or scared, or even happy, your emotions would get the best of you and youâd spew out words like a sprinkler.
So she chuckles softly, bringing her hand up to your arm and giving it a gentle squeeze as if to stop you.
âSlow down, peachâ she hums out smoothly. The pet name makes your insides burn, her voice sounding like fucking butter as she soothes you, instantly calming you down and shutting you up just as she wanted.
âThere you goâŚbreathâ she gives you an encoring nod, paired with another firm squeeze to your arm before she finally lets go, giving you a soft smile before she speaks again.
âI was excited to come out with you tonight. I see that guy perform every Fridayâ she explains with a soft laugh before she nods her head to her car once again.
âSo, letâs get you home and in bed. Your parents would kill me if I let you roam around at nightâŚ.even though your house is and ten minute walk from hereâ she shrugs before she presses her hand to the small of your back, leading you to her car without a choice.
It makes you whine softly, throwing your head back like a child as she opens up your door and helps you into the car. You arenât even that drunk, a bit warm and tipsy, sure, but you were fine to make it home on your own.
HoweverâŚher warm hand on your skin, paired with the babying, was nice.
Damn her for being so fucking perfect.
A soft huff blows past your pouted lips as she settles into the drivers seat next to you, which makes her snicker as she starts the car. âQuit poutingâŚit was getting too crowded in there anyways, was gonna suggest we head out right before you tried to ditch meâ she shrugs nonchalantly, which earns a playful swat to her arm from your end.
âI was not ditching you! I really am tiredâ you protest, which only makes Ellie chuckle as she puts her hands up in her defense before she expertly pulls out of the parking lot, one hand on the steering wheel of course.
âUh-huhâŚ.lets get you home thenâ she affirms as she gives you a wink before she makes her way to your house.
The summer breeze is cool against your skin, the windows down on Ellieâs car, soft music playing through it as you two simply enjoy the comfortable silence that falls between you both. It reminds you of the parties Ellie would drive you both home from, only for her to sneak up to your room with you and pass out in your bed, cuddled up into each other. Sneaking was a stretch, as your parents always knew sheâd be spending the night when you two were out late.
The memories make the heart ache, and your throat swell, that familiar melancholy feeling filling you up at the reflection of the past staring at you in a pool of your memories.
You barely realize youâve pulled in, the gentle hum of the car coming to a stop as Ellie lets her palms fall to her thighs, a gentle sigh leaving her lips as she stares up at your dark home, nothing but the porch light on to greet guests.
âWellâŚI hope you had fun tonight, peachâŚâ she hums out softly when she finally turns to you, gentle green eyes shining in the dim lighting of her car, barely illuminated by the light beaming down from the moon in the clear night sky.
And you know you shouldnât do it. You should just thank her for the night out, wish her a good night and go inside your house. You were tipsy, and you were extremely emotional, and you were lonely. All of it was a recipe for disaster, and you knew it.
But somehow, you donât stop the words that fall from your lips.
âDo you wanna come inside?â You ask quickly, watching as the girls eyebrows raise in surprise at your sudden burst of hospitality. You inhale deeply before you continue.
âItâs late andâŚthe least I could do is give you something to eat, or drink after making us leave earlyâ you explain further, your hand gripping the edge of Ellieâs leather car seat as you stare at her.
When she doesnât say anything, you feel like an idiot. Sheâs just staring at you and you suddenly feel like youâve read into this all wrong, itâs been years! Why on earth would she want to come inside and hang out with her ex girlfriend, she probably has much better things to do.
âIâd love toâ she beams out, giving you a bright smile before she opens her car door, gets out, and makes her way over to open yours to let you out.
You can practically feel the weight lift off of your chest when she agrees, a soft sigh of relief leaving your lips as you lead her to your front door, making your way up the steps and unlocking it before letting her in.
Ellie hums softly when you turn on the lights, eyes wandering around the familiar home as you toss your purse onto a nearby hanger, as well as kicking your shoes off near the front door.
She hangs her jacket up on the coat rack near the door like muscle memory right after she shuts the front door behind her, a soft smile on her lips as she watches you make your way to the kitchen and open up your fridge.
âI have water, iced tea, lemonadeâŚ.â You list off the various contents in your fridge before you look over at the girl behind you, watching as she stands in the middle of your living room. âWater is fineâ she hums out with a smile, which you nod and grab for her.
Your home is like a breath of fresh air compared to where you and Ellie where not even an hour ago, the two of you quickly falling into old habits as it takes no more than ten minutes for the two of you to make your way out to your back porch, taking a seat on the comfy outdoor couches your father had added in right before you moved out.
Another guttural laugh passes through your lips as you toss your head back, listening to Ellie catch you up on all the small town mishaps and shenanigans that you had missed, and yearned for oh so much since you'd gone.
"Are you kidding me? They fought over a decade old prom crown? I would have paid big money to see that shit" You gasp out, wiping a tear from the corner of your eye as you finally manage to catch your breath.
Ellie chuckles as she nods, bringing her water to her lips before she shrugs. "I'll tell you one thing, I had no idea those old ladies could move like that" She adds with a snort, ripping another burst of laughs from your sore chest.
You don't catch it, but Ellie simply watches you fondly as you toss your head back and laugh, a gentle smile playing on her lips as you struggle to find the words. It warms her heart even further to know that she was the one pulling that out of you, making you smile so big, laugh so hard.
You groan softly, exhaling tiredly as you place a hand on your chest as if to calm yourself. "Man....I seriously cannot remember the last time I've laughed this hard" You add, a soft, satisfied smile on your lips, unaware as to how sad your words may have sounded.
It hits you when you notice Ellie's gentle frown, the one that she gave whenever she was disappointed or when she knew something wasn't right.
"That's a shame...you used to laugh all the time when you were with me" She says matter-of-factly.
Her words catch you off guard, mostly because it was true. Being with Ellie was filled with nothing but smiles and laughs, the ones that had you keeling over and holding onto your belly as you shed a tear or two, unable to control the laughter that left your body, the happiness that filled you up when she was able to pull it out of you.
You hadn't even realized it, but you were pretty sure the last time you laughed like that, was with Ellie.
You hum softly, staring down at your lap as you toy with the frills of your dress, thinking back to all of those times, wishing so badly you could be that girl again.
Wishing you could live that life again.
It's getting late at this point, the warm summer breeze growing colder the higher the moon rises into the sky. It blows onto your skin, goosebumps littering your arms. You feel it's time to tell Ellie to leave, the air growing heavy as you both sit there in silence, her words hanging between you, begging to be responded to.
When you open your mouth to tell her that you're tired, and that she should probably head home, you're interrupted by the feeling of her calloused fingers gently gripping your chin, pulling you to look into her eyes.
"I....I don't know what happened...or why you two decided to split up..." she mumbles softly, and you know she's referring to your ex wife without even saying her name.
She inhales deeply, pink tongue darting out to wet her plump lips slowly before she speaks again. "But I couldn't imagine ever letting someone like you go....no matter what" she sighs out, her eyes staring into yours intensely.
And suddenly, you aren't you anymore. You are, but....you're a different you. You're the you that's filled with hopes and dreams, the you that wrote in her diary every night about everything she was going to do once she made it, the you that would peek her head out of her window to see her girlfriend standing out on her lawn, waiting to pick her up, take her out, and simply drive with the music on and the windows down, enjoying each others company.
You're the you, that's in love with Ellie.
Her green eyes sparkle like gems in the moonlight, the white light illuminating half of her pretty face, making a lump form in your throat as you struggle to find the words to say. You can feel her hand gently creep up to cup your face, and it makes your skin burn even hotter beneath her touch.
The familiar sound of the wind chimes rings through your ear, transporting you back to that very same night, five years ago when you were splayed out on the lawn that was a mere few feet away from you, kissing and loving on your girlfriend that you adored with all your heart.
Ellie hears them too, her eyes glancing up at them above your head. She chuckles softly, hand still caressing your cheek gently before she speaks. "Haven't heard those since the last time I saw you..." She hums out.
With that, it's as if your body moves itself for you, deciding your faith before you can, because you waste no time in leaning in and pressing your lips to hers in a kiss that can only be described as longing, having gone far too long without feeling the pair that they so desperately wanted pressed up against.
Ellie melts into you almost immediately, her other hand coming up to cup your cheek as she kisses you back passionately. Both of your hands come up to hold onto either of her wrists, keeping her close as you lean further into her, wanting more of the girl.
You need her more than air, easily letting her grip your thighs and tug you down to straddle her lap, your hands going up to tangle themselves in her soft hair. When she finally does break the kiss, her lips are on your neck, and your jaw, and your cheeks, and the corner of your mouth, eager to feel any part of you on her needy mouth as her hands roam your body eagerly.
"Missed you so fuckin' much...my dream girl" She moans out, making you whimper as you tug her hair back, angling her face back up towards yours before smashing your lips against hers.
"Let's....let's go inside...." You moan into her mouth, the kiss messy and sloppy as she nods eagerly before the request has even fully escaped your lips.
You waste no time crawling off her lap and tugging her inside, the two of you giggling and moaning as you stumble over your own feet in a dance of need and desperation, the both of you clearly in need of one another.
Ellie is tugging off her shirt as you two make your way through the door, helping you tug off your dress as she stumbles out of her jeans quickly after.
A pile of clothes leads the both of you to your bed, the girl laying you down and crawling over you, strong hands caressing your soft body, tugging at your bra and your panties, mouthing away at your newly exposed skin.
"You don't know how many times I've thought about this...thought about you like this" she admits, needy hands gripping at your waist, pulling you flush against her half naked body as she kisses up to your lips again, slowly pushing her tongue into your mouth as she groans against you, strong hands massaging your skin, kneading it between her fingers.
You moan into her, nodding eagerly as your hands tug her closer, wanting her as close to your body as possible.
"I have to..." you admit mindlessly.
You don't realize it then, but it's the first time that you've allowed yourself to admit that to someone, even to yourself. Those were secrets that you're buried down so deep into your mind, you weren't even sure they were true anymore.
Ellie was able to pull them out thought.
"Gonna...fuckin' worship you...like you deserve, baby.." she moans out, her lips pressing against your boobs that were spilling out of your bra, nipping and biting at your exposed skin.
But when she says that, it's like all the lights suddenly turned on.
It all comes weighing down on you in an instant, what happened, what you'd been through. Your wife had cheated on you with another woman, she promised you everything, the world at your feet if you asked for it, yet she still threw it all away as if none of it was real, as if none of it mattered.
Who's to say Ellie wouldn't do the same?
Your body goes limp beneath her, and Ellie catches onto it immediately, frowning gently as she pulls away to see her suspicions were confirmed.
"Baby? Hey...you with me angel?" She calls out as she watches you staring up at the ceiling, your eyes glossing over as if you weren't even there.
Because you weren't, you were back in your bedroom, in your apartment in the city, watching the woman you thought loved you back, fuck another woman into your mattress as if she were you.
You weren't ready for this.
"I...I can't do this.." You mumble out, voice cracking as your throat began swelling up from the tears pooling in your eyes.
Ellie is quick to sit up with you, tugging the blankets on your bed up so that you were able to shield your chest from the cold air that circled your room, her hand coming up to your back as she peered down at you, brushing your hair out of your face.
"Sweetheart, what is it? did I do something wrong? Did I hurt you?" she urges, desperately trying her best to understand what happened, what caused the sudden shift in the atmosphere.
You feel sick to your stomach, shaking your head as the tears begin spilling out onto your cheeks, keeping the blanket tugged close to your chest as you brush Ellies hands away from your face.
"I can't...you need to leave...please leave!" you sob out, shaking your head as all the images of your ex wife come flooding in.
Ellie frowns deeply as she watches you push her away, shutting her out and putting those same walls up that she could feel even when you were miles and miles away from her in the city.
She knows she can't get through to you, not now at least. So she simply gets up off your bed, tugs on her t shirt and jeans, goes downstairs and walks out of your house, her heart breaking as she hears your sobs echoing through the house, following her as she left you there.
And as you laid there, crying in your bed once again, ugly images run through your mind,
it isn't the thought of your ex wife cheating on you, that hurts, but its merely a dull blade to your side now that you've felt Ellie again, those feelings coming back the second her lips were on yours.
No...it's the thought of Ellie doing those things. It's the thought of her promising you the world and still throwing it away, even after she put a pretty ring on your finger.
Because love is ruined for you now, and you aren't entirely sure you could trust anyone to give it to you again.
Even Ellie.

chapter two âĄ
Waking up that morning was just as light as a feather, a slight and good anxiety running through your veins and flesh, boosting your body to jump out of bed and start your day. Good appearance was what you've chosen for the day, wondering even if you should brush your teeth twice before leaving home and head to your mission of the day, get the auburn hair cashier's name or something you could have to be close to her, just the thought of that was enough for a smile from ear to ear to bloom on your face.
Backpack around your shoulders as you left your place and walked with excited silly steps to the convenience store where your heart raced almost passionately. Across the street, you could watch an unknown and masculine figure organizing cardboard boxes in the store facade, scrunching your face and fixing your dirty glasses â the ones you forgot cleaning after saying you'd clean the following day â, you could tell the man had already grey hair and wrinkled face, but he still managed to have a good appearance.
Taking a deep breath and crossing the street, you wondered if it really was a good idea, anxious thoughts wrecking you once again, frowning as you realize your body stading in front of the store for long five minutes. Your breath stuck in your throat, her figure from afar and those beautiful physical traits were carefully perceived by your curious eyes.
Too distracted to even notice the environment around you, a gentle palm rested on your tense shoulder, causing you to jump in response. The same man you eyed before, he smiled at you as his hands brushed his leather coat before speaking.
"Sorry if I scared you." His voice was deep yet caring for you, a faint smile could be seen.
"No, it's fine! I was just... distracted." You spoke up kindly, your hands sweating as your fingers fidgeted to relieve your anxiety. "Sorry for asking, but do you work here?" Was the best you could speak, and the only response you got was a cracked chuckle.
"Guess what, it's a funny part." He said as his long feet stepped a way from you, signing for you to follow him as well. You tilt your head to the side, wondering if you were about to be kidnaped or something, but you follow his path calmly. You stood next to him as his hand raised and pointed to the storefront sign.
"Joel's" you whispered as your eyes scrunched in an attempt to read clearly despite the bright sun making your eyes sting, you could read properly the store's name after having only an blurred image of the sign in your subconscious.
You looked at him, waiting for something, but his smile only grew more. "Guess what my name is." He finally said.
You blinked a few times, guiding your eyes to look around before responding, "Joel?" You sounded unsure. The answer was obvious, but you couldn't believe he'd be so predictable.
He burst in laugh after that, you could just give him a smile back nervously, he was acting like it was the funniest thing ever, you felt guilty for not laughing and looked to the sign again, faking a chuckle as you avoided looking at him.
"Everyone find it funny." He said as his finger brushed his eyelids, wiping away a tear that was about to run down the corner of his eye. You covered your mouth, thinking what just happened.
Your hand followed to the back of your neck, scratching lightly. "Yeah, it's really funny..." you said uncertainly, your words falling falsely from your lips.
"Um, I have... to go, so..." You stuttered as you walked away slowly.
"No problem, dear." He waved gently. You really wanted to find that funny but, god. "We have some products on sale, check them out!
You smiled once again before turning back him and heading to the local market.
As you entered the place, your figure walked to a random section, it was just some snacks in. Your eyes scanned some of them, a sound of the rubber sole of a sneaker sliding across the floor close to you.
"I saw that." The familiar husky voice tone made your body shiver,
Your body turned to face the figure in front of you quickly enough to have a spasm when you met those intense and tired green eyes observing your facial features.
"What?" Your eyes widened.
"You and Joel." she said with a lazy smirk, her arms crossed and her weight shifting to her left leg. "The storefront sign thing." Her eyes looked away, her side profile holding you in a trance. The daylight highlighted her pale skin and the freckles that ran all over her face.
You could swear you've seen a smile on her dry lips. "You were just another victim." She sounded happy, even though her tone of voice made it hard to discern her emotions.
"I wasn't a victim, I just went with the flow." A soft answer, hands touching the shelves to spare all the energy on your nerves, eyes looking at a blind spot behind the auburn girl. A deep breath before finally speaking again.
"Do you also have a different way to present yourself?" You could feel a drop of sweat forming on your scalp. "Like, just as creatively as Joel?"
The girl right before you bit her lip, peeling the dry skin as her eyes were locked on her old black converse.
"No, I'm just ordinary. No signs with my name." She smiled at you. Your heart skipped a beat when her eyes met yours.
"I'm Ellie."
Your smile bloomed sweetly, "cute." You thought
Ellie smiled softly when you told her your name as well, crossing her arms against her chest, her arm tattoo plainly visible. The ink was a bit faded, so you deduced it had been tattooed a long time ago. You couldn't keep the conversation going for more than that. The best you could do was pick a random snack you didn't even like and pay for it, only to see Ellie smiling at you as she handed you your shopping bag.
You kept this way for the rest of the week, waking up earlier, going to Joel's and choosing some product only to see her face and have an ordinary short talk, repeat the last steps after your classes. "Am I being too weird?" You thought with yourself after leaving the local market once again.
Ellie seemed to not care, at least. Maybe she just doesn't care. You should save your money and stop being stupid.
But you couldn't. You pressed your lips tightly as you entered the convenience store after your classes, the guilt making your shoulders heavy and tense. Walking silently through the sections that you had already memorized every product of each one of them, chewing your inner cheek, trying to think straight and stop yourself, you began to feel... sad.
It couldn't be a wasted time walking more than the usual way you took. Shrugging off your thoughts, you grabbed a bottle of water and headed to the checkout counter for the last time, you've promised to yourself. Your eyes avoided Ellie as you watched her take the bottle and scan it.
"You good?"
She was the one to speak first, her fingers lightly caressing her eye bags, her eyes fixed on you. It was as if everything had just stopped around you; you couldn't listen to a single word. Her lips were moving, but you couldn't understand a thing. Your mind went blank. You could only shake your head slowly, blinking in an attempt to wake yourself up from that trance.
"Um?" You hummed, your mouth went dry.
And she... laughed?
"What?" You asked again, your eyes laid on the chunky notebook next to the cash register before returning to Ellie.
"I asked if you're fine." She muttered, handing you the plastic bag. "You look disoriented today. Just worried."
At least you know she doesn't hate you, you let out a sigh in relief.
"Ah, I see..." You swallowed, holding the plastic bag and feeling the tip of her fingers brushing lightly against yours. "Maybe I am."
You squeezed the bag slightly, letting your palm feel the cold water drops sweating the plastic.
"I hope you figure it out." Her voice was soft. Your lips formed a thin smile. Her tone sounded just as sincere. You didn't know much about Ellie, and she was in the same boat as you. She couldn't push boundaries either, and she still could understand your odd behavior even if it wasn't her business. A safe distance.
"Don't need to pay for it, by the way." She rested her left hand on the back of her neck, massaging the area.
"What? But i want to." You answered.
"No, you don't." You frowned as she turned her back to you and began to look for something in her old backpack, a spaceship pin decorating the blue fabric. "Consider it as a gift, will you?"
You couldn't hold your tongue much longer. "Why is that?"
She didn't answer you immediately, Ellie spent some seconds in silence.
"You know, you're a frequent customer and polite... I mean, I just think some good action would make your night better." She sounded nonchalant, but you could hear a "Man..."
"I don't know, I'm not the best at cheering people up. Sorry." She spoke again before turning back to you. "Here, for you."
A dinosaur sticker pad, in the same art style as the others you'd seen around the store, the same as the one on the cover of her notebook. One sticker pad with four dinosaur stickers on it.
Your smile was sincere and bright as a sunshine, tilting your head to the side, you admired the art style and Ellie's cute actions.
"This is the best I can do... for now." Her hands rested on her hips. She was wearing old, faded, skinny jeans and her uniform shirt. Her teeth peeled the dry skin of her lips.
"It's perfect, thank you." Your smile didn't fade away.
It wasn't a kid sticking dinosaur images after all; it was just Ellie. The auburn-haired girl, the one with an intimidating posture and such an intense gaze, with those beautiful green eyes that could make your knees weak. She was just someone trying to cheer up a frequent customer, wasn't she?
Your eyes fixed on her freckles, overthinking again. Wondering if you should postpone asking for her number. You couldn't screw that up.
"Ellie?" You called her name, feeling your body shiver just by saying her name. Your skin felt warm as her eyes met yours again, those green orbs focusing solely on you.
Were you seeing things? Or Ellie seemed... interested in what you had to say? No, not at all.
"Um?" Her eyebrows rose slightly, a relaxed expression on her face. She seemed tired, just like the last day, but not uninterested.
"I..." You laughed nervously, already regreting the other words you were holding in your throat. Nails scracthing the back of your neck as you looked around, "I don't know if I should say this." A nervous smile made Ellie tilt her head to the side, the poorly tied bun left some strands of hair coming out.
"Why? Is there something off?" She asked as her gaze frowned.
Your fingers caressed the sticker pad. "It's just that... I wish I had more knowledge about dinosaurs." It was true, indeed. You would learn everything just to talk to her. You looked at her again, her head lowered, her sneaker sole playing with the floor.
Your tired eyes landed on her figure. You weren't really expecting an answer. You had just thought aloud, and you were okay with that. You were okay with her silence, the lack of dialogue between you. The silence was friendly. It felt good.
"I can teach you." She almost whispered; she wasn't looking at you, but you were noticing every detail of her body language. "If you're okay with that, of course."
You were both blushing, your heart beating so fast you were almost sure you would pass out. Your blood rushed to your feet, preparing you to run. But you didn't want to; anxiety is so dumb.
"This is so stupid. I don't even know why I said that. Sorry." She brushed her palm over her face. You frowned lightly, concerned.
"No! It's fine, I'd love that, honestly." You waved to her, "I just..." You bit your inner cheek, heart beating faster.
"I wanna talk to you more. If you're okay with that too."
Ellie smiled at you, a thin smile to you as her eyes seemed to smile as well. You could feel the butterflies in your stomach. Ellie was something you had never experienced before.
"Can I get your number?" she stuttered.
