hello everybody! i am posting on behalf of my dear friend. she is a disabled high needs autistic trans woman who will be getting gender affirming surgery in the next few months. we are fundraising for her with her identity anonymous for her safety, as she has otherwise had her name and gender marker legally changed to accurately reflect her identity.

when the surgery was first planned, she had insurance to pay for it, but the doctor didn’t have any openings until this year. now, her new insurance plan is not contracted with her surgeon. she needs to continue with the surgery and not delay, because the government is openly trying to take away trans rights and there is a risk they could ban the surgeries she needs to survive altogether.

the surgery will be **$14,000** in total.

she has applied for grants, but was not chosen, and her family will be going into medical debt if they arent able to cover it all.

my friend loves to bake for and feed her friends, tend to her backyard community garden where she teaches people how to garden in an adverse environment, and help build our queer-run co-op and buy-nothing grassroots organization that she puts in work daily to maintain and plan for. she has worked hard for so long to help others, and she needs help right now.

To the CS Fandom

I just got out of an argument over this and im still kinda peeved so lets talk about it.

ive been seeing some discourse about how the CS fandom, in spite of the show being about majority not white people, is obsessed with its white people and thats bad.

first off lets outline the main cast: Carmen (duh), Player, Shadowsan, ivy, zack, chase, julia, and Gray.

Out of those - 5/8 are actually white (i guess player is ambiguous) so thats wrong. CS has a lot of poc characters but they are mostly background (so lets reexamine its reputation as a predominantly non white show).

Second, the most popular character is literally Carmen. By far. Shadowsan is BELOVED by the fandom, and flr good reason. Hes a really well written character. Next popular after Carmen is Player, and ngl i dont fully get the player obsession (like hes cool but hes barely fleshed out in canon). But i still like him, and i think people love him more for his relationship with carmen which i think is super valid.

After that it devolves. Julia is well liked by most and well explored by Julethief fans. Gray is divisive yet well liked by redcrackle fans, but thats hardly the majority in the fandom. Chase is well liked as well but not as well explored as gray or jules sometimes are (probably cuz hes not in one of the shows big ships), but hes not obsessed over.

Zack and Ivy are liked because they are fun characters and for “wholesome team red” moments rather than because they have very specific fans.

So who exactly are we targeting here? Which white character is being disproportionately obsessed over? Which poc character is being ignored?

Thirdly, lets talk about which characters are actually well written in the show. In my opinion, the characters that have semi satisfying arcs are Chase, Gray, Shadowsan, and Julia. With those four having actual development and interesting writing, it is natural that they are well liked. I think its super disingenuous to boil down people liking Gray or Chase into “oh theyre white”

Fourthly, if you check the Ao3 tag, the most common characters are Carmen, Shadowsan, Player, and Julia.

Fifthly, who are the most popular side characters? Oh yeah its murder princess paper star. And mime bomb. I dont rlly care for either.

Please explain this sentiment to me. Who is it targeting.

Its actually wild to me the person who’s post sparked this whole discussion - i got on their ao3 and all of it is predominantly shipping two white people together. Like is the call coming from inside the house? I know outside of CS my ships and character interests are way more diverse.

Post canon rc headcanons:-

Not sure if this counts but I've always thought that gray got something related to a black sheep during his brainwashing, like a glass figurine cause he felt weirdly attached and familiar and post canon he keeps it right in front so he gets to see it every day and remember that carmen is out there somewhere free, cause he felt he needed a reminder in case he felt the need to see her again.

Carmen got to see the footage of gray going to ACME courtesy of player who got it from shadowsan who got it from chief.

Carmen tried to write a letter to gray cause atm she didn't think she would be able to face him and slight nudging from her mother.

She told carlotta about gray after some time after opening up cause she thought she might have some advice, she told her she should talk to him, which was exactly what she did not want to do (carm listen to your mother, she's right).

I don't have much during their time apart cause like they're just mourning, not really much to go with there.

Post reconciliation headcanons:-

Carmen is the one who reached out, she appeared after a bus passed at the cafe, basically a reverse of when she disappeared.

They start dating after a month of reconnection, he asks her out for a third time, this time for an actual date.

He cooks a lot for her, like her favourite dishes, argentinian and otherwise as well as trying new ones for her, she usually just sits at the counter while he's cooking, chatting and occasionally making out.

When she isn't visiting him, (which she does a LOT, so much so it doesn't even feel long distance anymore), they talk on the phone all their available time (his breaks, her breaks from helping out at the orphanage, the evenings etc)

They sometimes talk through the night when one or both of them can't sleep.

There is a lot of bonding over their shared brainwashing experience.

They constantly apologize about everything that's happened at the beginning of their relationship even though they tell the other not to.

Carmen wants to introduce him to team red pretty much immediately but they delay it cause he thinks they don't like him and doesn't want to be met with disapproval just yet.

Carmen tells him about all her missions and so does he.

They watch spy movies together cause gray's canonically into them, they mostly make fun of them. They also went to the cinema a couple times for a date.

They go to the opera a lot cause it's special to them, but most of their dates are at the cafe.

He gets her a cat for their anniversary and she names it camren and tells him to keep it so that he'll have a reminder of her when she's not around.

The last one is actually inspired by the fact that in the previous shows she had a cat named exactly that, so I decided to make it happen here as well.
