I had plans - October was going to be a fresh start I was going to start habits I was going to be the be the best me I could be.
And then I was crying for an hour before I finally went to bed.
While it sure would be nice to have perfection happen to your life - that's not how life works. You are going to have days you don't want to be here anymore - you are still yourself.
Rather than fresh starts, you have things you've gotta do. You're sticking around with me because you're going to bake something new tomorrow and it's going to smell great in the oven. Tomorrow you're going to discover knitting, or a new book, or maybe you'll make yourself a tea and some breakfast and you'll crawl back into bed and get crumbs all over your blankets while you watch that anime you've been wanting to watch.
More than wanting to have a fresh start, you have thing you're going to to do, that you look forward to doing, that you have to do.
Because as long as you have something to stick around for tomorrow (and there is always something), there is no need for perfection.
So let's stick around. We have things to do.

Why yes, I do like blueberry things! Here is an excellent coffee cake.
Remember to cream sugar and butter for 10 minutes, and another 10 minutes when you add the eggs for the best results.
Also lemon rind is always a good addition, and if you want more blueberries you could smoosh about 1 cup more to the top before the crumble.
Did you know I find the name boy bait cake absolutely hilarious?

Blueberry Muffins
Honestly, this is a good recipe to just have on hand. Muffins are a delicious and easy weekend (breakfast?) make, and they make your space smell amazing!
It's an easy recipe, and the ingredients either keep well in the pantry or freezer, or you'll probably just have them anyway!
♡
1. Grease or line your muffin tins
2. Preheat oven to 400°F
3. Dry Ingredients (whisk together)
2 cups of Flour, whole wheat is tasty but white works fine too (spoon flour into the measuring cup, then level)
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 cup white sugar
4. Wet Ingredients (add to dry ingredients, then stir until only a little bit of flour is visible)
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup neutral cooking oil
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract and or lemon zest (it's optional... but is it really?)
5. Fold/stir in 1 1/2 cups of blueberries (frozen is great)
6. Crumble (use a pastry cutter or a fork to mush together until crumbly)
This is optional, when I'm lazy I just sprinkle a little sugar or sliced almonds on top.
1/4 cup of flour
1/4 brown sugar
2 tablespoons of butter or margerine
1/2 teaspoon of powdered cinnamon
7. Fill muffin tins (it should make 12 muffins), sprinkle crumble on top, and bake for 20-25 minutes.
♡
And you'll get something like this!

This recipe is from a Betty Crocker red cookbook, the front page of my family's copy fell right off so I dont know the exact name - but it's a very reliable cookbook if you are interested.
Enjoy your baking!

Hey who wants to read the discworld series?
So yeah I know it's a lot (41 books a lot) but:
● It's a project, and I need something to focus on that isn't panicking about the impending doom that is school and my future (and the pandemic).
● Honestly who wouldn't want to read more of the amazing Terry Pratchett.
● Yes, reading can be an expensive hobby and might not be accessible - but there are libraries! Maybe have a friend do this thing with you and you can share and lend books! Also, compared to a lot of books cost wise, discworld is a pretty good bang for your buck.
● Terry Pratchett's website even has sheets so you can read in order of release, or you can go by the different sub-series, and you'll have something to checkmark.
I have gotten a head start, but honestly I'm going at a crawling speed. I read a lot a lot when I was a kid but then I stopped, but I want to start again!
So that's what's up. Go at your own pace, read other stuff too, and don't bully yourself.
And if you're already doing (or did) this discworld reading thing, which series or books are your favourite? Which discworld subseries would you recommend for a beginner to start?
