i have this whole fucked up thing in my head about vegaspete which is basically just: pete wants to fit his whole body inside of vegas. i don’t mean penetration but it is definitely a sexually charged desire; to open vegas’ mouth with his hands and feel the bite of his teeth as he just cracks his jaw open at the hinge so he can climb inside - and vegas of course wants to consume pete.

“and i will consume you”

in what way does he mean? i will consume your own hunger and make it my own? i will consume your every waking thought? i will be the ghost that haunts you in life?

or simply: i will consume you. i will swallow you whole.

and pete wants that - to be tucked safe in the pocket of vegas’ ribs, beside his heart. wants to be consumed. wants to count the beats of vegas’ heart because the pounding muscle is now the place he rests his head.

it's the far side of the moon, not the dark side, because it's not a dark place — it's just not under the spotlight. the bright side is where the wealth and glamour and global attention is. it's westernized, dominated by American and European influence. that's where the moon landing happened: the bright side.

most Thais live on the metaphorical far side of the moon. the moon landing has nothing to do with them — they care about their own land here on Earth, which is getting taken from them by wealthy investors and foreign-educated government officials. there's extreme wealth disparity between the two sides, and these poorer communities are being systematically destroyed in the name of "progress" (westernization).

but the far side has so much to offer — joy, art, culture, freedom of self expression, freedom from scrutiny, freedom to love. the criminalization of homosexuality was introduced to Thailand as a part of westernization efforts and did not reflect the culture of the people themselves. how much of their culture was lost or forgotten or overshadowed by the blinding light on the bright side?
