[ASAS] Reiji’s Memorial 02: running on the periphery of summer

So after months of collecting screenshots of Reiji’s memorial, I finally took the time to roughly translate them thanks to Google Translate’s OCR and finding a Chinese translation of it. I’m not literate enough in either language (and probably will never be) to translate this word to word but at the very least I can provide and interpret a rough summary of his memorial. If anyone would like to correct me on mistakes, please do so! The link to the original memorial is here.

The memorial is about a memory Reiji mentions in his A Route in All Star After Secret. It is about the time during his student days at Saotome Gakuen when Reiji and his friends ran in a marathon, but ditched it midway to play in the river.

First off, I’d like to thank my friend @appendorange for drawing this wonderful commission of Aine for me to color. Thank you so much, you’ve captured him perfectly!

I don’t have anything new to say this year because you all already know well my feelings about Aine. Of course, I wish for him the best happiness for this year as well!

Even looking back through painful memories, I’m sure Aine is still fond of the happy memories he made in the past. The flowers he’s holding in his arms are the Iris and the Forget-me-nots.

[ outofdreams: Interestingly I was talking with Oey on Twitter about comparing Aine and Ai to the Kisaragi siblings in Kagepro. I really like the idea of classifying Aine as a NEET. Spoilers or what not ahead if you're in the Kagepro fandom. ]

[ Shintaro became a shut-in because of Ayano's passing and I think that would be similar to Aine except that he was the one who tried to... yeah. But I imagine post-recovery, Aine still doesn't want to do with the world and shut himself in. I also find it so ironic because the younger sister Momo is an idol (who drowned at one point of her life and gained her power which led to her becoming an idol) and that would be Ai, who wants to encourage Aine to go outside.

Oey also mentioned a nice tidbit that Shintaro composes VOCALOID songs too. What if Aine composed songs as well... because he doesn't have the will to sing anymore?

I really like this verse and I want to develop it a bit more. ]

ღ - "Of course," Aine murmured, "I know how it's like trying to turn in assignments to your senpai on time... It can be quite stressful at times."

The retired idol felt a strangeness to be complimented about his kindness. It had been years since anyone had told him that. Aine rarely saw people outside of Hakase and Ai in the present too.

But the bluenet didn't find himself to be kind. Rather, he felt more or less indifferent towards the girl, only helping her because he had once been in her shoes. The naive feelings of kindness and hope that he knew he used to have... Aine had left them behind with his broken dream.

Only an apathetic feeling towards his life was left.

"...You're welcome. I told you already that I understand that same feeling." He took the stapled pile of papers and neatly placed it on his lap. Of course the girl's assignment would remain safe with him; he wasn't even planning to go anywhere all day.

Emerald orbs continued to observe him after he had finished securing the papers to his grasp. It was likely she was staring at his likeness to Ai, which he didn't blame her at all. Anyone could stare and gawk at how similar the two of them were.

The blue-haired male only blinked once, when she asked for his name.

"Ah. Pardon me for not introducing myself earlier," he muttered his apologies softly, "My name is Aine. Kisaragi Aine. And yours, miss?" - ♪

   ”Ah! You’d really do that?”

Not once did the young girl think of asking the young man to hand the assignment to Ai for her. Sure, there was the thought of Ai telling her to hand things in herself, but when the due date was so close at hand and not much time left, it was better to give it to this man to trust than to hope she’d run into him on her own.

"You’re super nice just like Ai-chan." A small giggle parted her lips as she dug into her bag, pulling out a protected group of papers stapled neatly together to appease her senior’s wishes instead of folding it like the last time. "Thank you so much for offering to give this to Ai-chan."

Holding out the papers to the other, the smile didn’t seem to fade from her features once. Emerald eyes curiously scanned the older male’s features, eventually mustering up the nerve to finally ask.

"What’s your name, Mister? I really want to thank you properly and I can’t do that if I don’t know your name."

ღ - "Ah..." Aine took a moment to remember that his android counterpart was currently teaching students in the Master Course. It was definitely clear that this blonde girl was one of Ai's students. 

Memories of his own experience in the Master Course returned to him, but quickly the bluenet shoved those lingering thoughts out of his mind. He wasn't in the mood right now to go down memory lane.

But then again, was he ever in such a mood these days?

"I guess you can leave your assignment with me and I'll give it to him. Or you can wait for him here... He should be coming back in a couple of hours."

"And yes... we're kind of related... The closest you could say is that... we're kin." - ♪

   Seeing the male on the other side of the door the blonde tilted her head to the side. She didn’t expect to see this person, but there was something about him that reminded her about the tealet he’d spoken about. Maybe he was related?

"Ah. Hi there." The blonde began, fumbling with something in her bag as she spoke—basic manners obviously slipping her mind at this particular moment of time. "I was trying to give him an assignment I finished, but I guess I can’t—oh. You look a lot like him. Are you related to Ai-chan?"

Aine sighed, stroking the fur of the rabbit Ai had recently gotten him. It was because Hakase was working most of the time and Ai had his idol work, Aine found himself lonely, which didn't bode any well for his recovery process. Both his uncle and the android had taken note of that and gifted him this little companion.

A female caramel-colored Mini Rex rabbit.

Not exactly a friend that he would wish for... but Aine was touched by their intentions.

Sitting up in bed with her, the brown creature hopped a little and nuzzled his hand. A small smile came to his pale lips, adoring his pet. The bluenet wished he had a name for the little one, but he wanted a meaningful one, still mulling that thought over.

Suddenly, the rabbit tilted her head at the door. Aine blinked and followed its glance over at the door to find an unknown visitor there, peering at him. A rather tall male with short, ebony hair and amber eyes.

"Excuse me... Is there something you need, sir?" - ♪

Can rabbits get lonely? || Kira & Aine

Kira had been making his rounds to the hospital, just getting a check up on his blood sugar per usual when he had been feeling rather faint the morning of.

He had taken one of his bunnies with him, since he liked having them close whenever he went. He didn’t particularly fear hospitals, although they weren’t pleasant either.

The raven haired male proceeded down the hallway once everything was done, keeping the bunny close against his chest.

He had walked part a particular room that had been partially opened, and decided to do a double take since he had thought he saw..Ai Mikaze? One of the singers from Quartet Night..what would he even be doing here..?

Curious, he peered into the room without even a blink, simply looking at the bed where the other lay.
