was gonna post my redesigns in batches but ehh so heres amber

my inspo pinboard. my process has been to read the character stories and associated stuff nd kinda figure out what vibes i wanna include. so obviously i kept her iconic rabbit thing going, and another interesting thing is her connection to birds. the fairy tale she gives us abt like the birds flying or whatever is i THINK iirc what helps her get her vision? + the feathers on her waist are mentioned in her stories that she obtained from a big ass bird. and given she is our resident gliding queen i went for an aviator type vibe soooo. amelia earhart! inclusion of phoenixes is once again the aforementioned bird thing as well as her liyue heritage since her grandpa impacted her so much.it might be canon that he gave her her goggles ?? but if it isnt then its canon to me now. another thing i believe it was her alt outfit story is that her og uniform got torn up easily out in the field and she would have to sew them up, so i added some cute patches here and there. i ended up not having a lot of bird stuff in the design aside from the feathers but i didnt want it too cluttered. i also had a sketch where she had a rabbit buddy whos ears spun around like helicopter blades to fly everywhere he did not make the cut sadly. she has a pompom charm on her belt on the back that looks like a bunny tail but i dont want to draw back views sorry so just know it exists

This is my redesign of Albatross - it took way longer than I expected, mostly due to a lack of planning which led to me needing to redo the drawing. I never really paid any attention to Albatross, and was happily surprised to see how complex his character really is - an animus haunted by guilt, he spends most of his life paying for a mistake from his childhood and is eventually driven to become the monster Lagoon tells him he is. I can't believe I just ignored him!!

I wanted Albatross' physical appearance to reflect how much his life revolves around Sapphire's murder by including a pattern which (subtly) resembles the curves on clamshells, which can be found on his arms/shoulder. furthermore, his claws/mouth are slightly red to mimic where Sapphire was hurt. His gills are drawn in red as well, but I was thinking more of the irritation that may come from spending too much time out of water when working on the summer palace. When it came down to coloring his tail, the red exists only to balance the design. His aquatic markings are dimmer than others I've designed because of a headcannon I have, where tribemates don't talk to him due to Lagoon's influence, and his flashes aren't used much as a result. Finally, I made the choice to give him yellow-green eyes to represent sickness and the slow poisoning of his soul.

Pertaining to his bird-like features, the design loosely uses albatross wing patterns, as well as including a beak-like snout and beady eyes.

polls over but heres my two cents anyways since ive started thinking heavily abt a genshin x tma au. well in my basic outline of him he wouldve had an encounter with the Vast(all devouring narwhal/abyss fall) though perhaps lonely(for abyss, not the narwhal) might be more suitable.. but in terms of avatarhood ive been placing him under Hunt. now theres a lot of overlap between the two but ive always thought of the slaughter as more indiscriminate, angry angry angry lashing out at any and everything. sort of senseless. the way i see childe is his battle-hungry nature is about the thrill, the pursuit, the Hunt. always looking for a challenge, wanting to grow stronger, the excitement of the battle. maybe my view of him has been skewed over time.. i dont know..... maybe its about the chase or maybe its about the rip and tear. i cant tell. either way it ends the same
