Yup. Saw others on Twitter saying the same thing, and I agree. Her eyes are like bugs 🐞 🐞 —which I don’t mind, but the proportions from her eyes to nose to mouth is really close and can look weird on certain angles. Reminds of Komi Can’t Communicate’s art style in later chapters of the manga. The fact she has a big chest doesn’t help her case either. Now, don’t get me wrong, that’s absolutely not my problem. It’s the fact they put a childish head on an adult women’s body. Overall 10/10 in concept, 5/10 in execution.
And she ain’t the only one I have beef with, looking at you Robin look-a-like 🫵.

She’s cool because she’s Venti’s mother…..for now.
Ronova looks so much better in this edit. I always feel off by her appearance bcs of how big her eyes are and makes her forehead bigger. It may be a stylistic choice from the team but still, she looks more mature here
Credits to u/Gurgurlac for the edit they shared

Hello Yuyu (if you are uncomfortable with this nickname, I'm sorry :(( I also don't know if you still take requests, if not please ignore this message) I'm curious about Cale's reaction when rd is jealous. I feel like he always shows an aura that attracts others. So what if rd sees him chatting with a noble, and he can see the heart in that person's eyes when they looked at Cale. At first rd tried to restrain herself :(( but she couldn't. She ended up holding Cale's hand and pouting the whole time
Jealousy, Jealousy
𝚆𝚘𝚛𝚍 𝙲𝚘𝚞𝚗𝚝: 1011
Authors Note: The fact that this was from last year is insane to me… Anyway— Reader jealous, yes? I can work with that! PS. I like the nickname. It’s pretty cute :)
[Warning]: Please forgive me for any misinformation or mischaracterization, I haven’t read TCF in a whiiiiiile. I have to get back to reading. I heard that the gold dragon finally makes an appearance in the Manhwa!
»»► Reader is not just jealous of the noblewomen who come near Cale–no no–she’s also plotting their funerals with a glare that could slice their heads off. For obvious reasons, she wouldn't. But a girl can dream.
»»► As for why she’s in this mood…? Oh you’ll find out soon enough.
It was dusk, the moon was just beginning to wake up from her slumber to adorn the sky with her starry pearls and natural glow, when the ball began. A dance in honor of the Crown Prince of the Roan Kingdom, future king of this land. It has been hosted each year ever since the prince was crowned.
In other words, it was a show of power and wealth; a political move from the imperial family.
One that Cale wished not to be part of.
With a big sigh, he drank the remaining red liquid from the glass he had in his hand. The taste of alcohol made interacting with the crowds tolerable.
“Master Cale?” A sickeningly sweet voice called to him.
Cale turned and greeted a young noblewoman that was approaching him. “Good evening,” he slightly vowed.
“So it is you!” She got closer to him, practically in front of his face. “It’s such an honor to meet the infamous Cale of the Henituse Territory!” Her eyes sparkled. He leaned back out of instinct, feeling the uncomfortableness of the situation.
“Haha…the honor is all mine,” he said back with his diplomatic smile.
“Master Cale, I was hoping to discuss something with you,” she began.
“Business related? If so, we can go have a seat in of those tables over there—”
“That won’t be necessary!” She laughed nervously. Her eyes wandered to the side, her cheeks turning rosy by the second. Oh Cale could smell the trouble brewing trouble. “I was wondering…might you perhaps be seeing someone?” There it is.
“I’m sorry, but…why the sudden question?” He asked–though he didn’t really care what she had to say, it was to stall for a good response to come to his mind.
“Oh I was just curious, that's all!”
As if he’d believe that. He knew why the topic of his relationship status had been garnering attention. Ever since his grand heroic act, saving the royal family and the other territory’s leaders during the banquet a few months ago, his father had been receiving marriage offerings from all sorts of people; given how low his reputation was, they thought his father would have accepted to marry off his useless son, and in the process they would have gained his reputation. More political nonsense.
Unfortunately for them, he is already seeing someone.
Should he tell her? His relationship with you wasn’t known to the public. And although he would not want to involve you in politics for now, he did not want to lie about you either. Why do the gods like to shove him into annoying situations like this?
“Human…” His eyes glanced up discreetly to his right. A small-sized dragon floated close to his shoulder. “[Name] is giving you the sticky eyes again,” he pointed to the other side of the room, unamused by this.
Oh-uh.
His eyes slowly follow the trajectory of Raun’s long nail. There, in all the magnificent glory, was you.
The red fabric was adorning your frame nicely, not too tight to show the world whatever your body had to offer, and not too loose to look baggy. Your expensive heels clacked loudly as you tapped your left feet against the palace floors like a rabbit. You were glaring at his direction. Your attention wasn’t on him in particular. It was rather at the noblewoman that was with him at the moment. If looks could kill, he’d probably be witness to a bloody murder.
He better go to you while you are still in control of that demon. He shuddered at the thought of you snapping.
“Master Cale?” the noblewomen called to him, concerned from his silence.
“Please excuse my manners, but I have to go. I have other business to attend to,” he smiled apologetically. He vowed slightly, “It was a pleasure meeting you. I hope to meet again someday,” that hope would only happen if the gods wished for her death by the hands of his lovely lady. He left before she could dig a greater grave.
He walked up to you, who was still glaring daggers at the confused noblewomen. “[Name]?” he called out. No response was given. “[Name]...” he called again. “[Name] please…” You gave him no mind and moved your face to the side, your brows still furrowed in annoyance. Cale could only frow.
Did that woman truly get under your skin, love? His eyes widened at an idea that crossed his mind.
“*sigh*... And here I was thinking of fetching some food my lady...” Your attention perked from the mention of food. Yet you still refuse to acknowledge him. “...I guess I’ll go with my lonesome since you don’t want anything…tis a shame, ” Cale said with a very sad voice and over dramatized expression. He turned to go to the food station.
3…2… Cale counted down. aaaand… he dragged as you stepped in front of him, 1. He smirked. Predictable as always. Your face still possessed the frown from before but with less bitterness and more pouty into it.
“...”
“...”
“...Can I come get food with you?” you asked, not bothering to look at him. You knew him. Well enough to know he had a smug expression splashed all over his eyes and mouth.
“Of course,” he extended his arm he knew you would take. As you made your way to the delicious temptations he leaned down and hovered right above your ear. “You know, you look cute when you're jealous.”
“Say another word and you're sleeping outside the manor.” He straightened, giving you a cheeky smile, and motioned his hand across his mouth like a zip to gesture you won’t hear anymore teasing from him for the rest of the night.
The ball faded into music, food, and a pouty lover.

𝐀𝐫𝐜 𝐕𝐈𝐈𝐈 — 𝑨𝒄𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒊𝒆𝒔
𝐀𝐫𝐜 𝐕𝐈𝐈 | 𝐀𝐫𝐜 𝐕𝐈𝐈𝐈 (you are here) | 𝐀𝐫𝐜 𝐈𝐗
Author Note: Before we start, I would like to mention that the top institution (or school) in all of Teyvat is the Akademia in Sumeru. They have many branches, not requiring separate institutions like in the city, and because they pretty much run Sumeru as the government. On top of that they’re the literal Nation of Knowledge–with the God of Wisdom as their patron–you really can’t compete with that…
Tridalia Academy
History
– Tridalia Academy, the first school to be built in the city, and is one of the most powerful academies. Founded by General Tridalia, this academy trains the city’s soldiers.
– Story tells that General Tridalia went to meditate on mountain tops, in caves deep enough to reach the bottom of the earth, and fought foes strong enough to annihilate whole seas before he to come up with the idea of the academy. But these are overdramatized stories and myths. The reason was much simpler than that.
– In the time when powerful gods fought for a divine seat in the heavens, a young soldier witnessed the loss of comrades and friends alike. Not wanting more loss, he proposed an idea to Her Grace. An idea that could help them protect the city.
– Since most soldiers were farmers, they had no skills with the sword. So he suggested a place to train them. He said:
“Why not train new recruits, instead of giving them a sword and wishing them luck as we push them to their deaths? To survive the harrowing flames of war, we must become strong to stand and shield our city. Together, we will rise and become unyielding guardians, defending our land and ensuring its existence in the face of our enemies. And this way, there won’t be senseless deaths.”
– Her Grace, liking the boldness and honesty behind the soldier's words, agreed. She gave him a trial run and a condition. If there wasn't much of an improvement in the army, she would stop the camp. As for the condition: he is the one who has to train the new recruits. And so, the first ‘academy’ was built.
– In its early stages, Tridalia Academy was more so a boot camp, with no academic component like regular ones. Those joining the army could opt-in and go to camp before joining veteran soldiers in the battlefield.
– But because the camp wasn’t mandatory, no one was interested. They all thought it was a waste of time; veterans thought it was a childish idea from a young soldier who didn’t know better, while newer recruits were too prideful and would naturally learn while fighting.
– The young soldier, who was Vimlar at the time, thought that maybe he could give some type of reward for joining. This sparked an idea: Why not give privilege to those who joined? Anyone who joined and “graduated” would receive a last name–an honor to have in its time.
– Hearing this, new recruits joined in droves. Many of the soldiers that came out of the rigorous training became prominent figures in the war, or at the very least, survived the wars with far less injuries than those who didn’t receive the training.
– As time went on, the camp grew bigger and bigger. Her Grace, seeing the number of troops grow and the success of the soldiers, prompted her to give Vimlar a part of land in her grounds to build a far bigger camp for them. This camp later on became what is now known as the Tridalia Academy.
– Because not all who joined the camp passed to become Up-holders, they became the “special armed force” of the city. So the city has regular soldiers who make up for a large portion of the army. Though they are not excluded from having to pass some exams, its difficulty is a far cry from the famous Tridalia exams.
Graduation
–The regimen for entrance started out easy. Sign up, train, you’re an Up-holder! Now you have to go through knight training, law school, psychology, and a few other courses before you can even qualify to be an Up-holder.
╰ There is an exception to skip all the qualifications. The exception being personally getting granted a spot in the exams by Her Grace. Yeah, near impossible, I know.
– Tridalia Academy is the easiest to get accepted into, but the most difficult to graduate from. Less than 45% of students pass their first year, and even less manage to pass the final exam and graduate. It’s some grueling three years, but to be known as an Up-holder is worth it.
Exams
– The exams are divided into three categories: knowledge, group fights, and then singles.
– The first phase, Knowledge, are rigorous tests about law and psychology; some tests are written responses, the majority are multiple choice. You would need at least an 85% to pass each test.
– The next phase, group fights, test students of their ability to work together; the groups are chosen at random, so no, you cannot choose your best friend. This is about knowing if you can work with others when thrusted into any situation.
╰ The test includes different terrains, weapons, and foes; these are also chosen at random, and one can easily go from one to another in the same exam.
– The final phase of the exam is the “Grand Entrance Exam.” This is the most popular of the three trials, accumulating a large crowd each time it is hosted.
╰ This exam is done twice a year. At the beginning of the year in January, to commence the parades for the Month of our Lady, and in early october (dates vary between years).
[Note]: This section will have its own Arc as it is far too complex to explain everything here. Also, I don’t want this to turn into an info-dump. Even IF it already became one…
– Passing the Grand Entrance Exam means graduating from Tridalia Academy and becoming an Up-holder.
Student Life
– Student life? What is that? The students of Tridalia Academy don’t know what that is.
Clelarth Academia of Law
History
– Clelarth Academia was founded as a by-product of General Tridalia’s academy. Reason being, that there wasn’t an institution dedicated to law. And as law became more complicated and complex, the need for studying them became a must.
– Because of this inconvenience, some of the high ranking Up-holders decided to split the law branch of the Tridalia academy and make it its own institution: The Academia of Law; this was the first name of the academy.
– Years later, a nobleman named Clelarth donated a large sum of mora to fund the academys’ teachings. Some may have doubted his intentions, claiming that he did it out of greed. Clelarth saw it differently however. He believed that investing in institutions was a wise decision; a nobleman should pride himself on knowing good investments when they see one.
"I'm not being altruistic by funding the academy. In fact, my motivation is quite simple: the more resources those students have, the more potential they have to become members of society with big pockets, and that means more opportunities for me to profit. It's a win-win situation, and a smart nobleman knows how to recognize a good investment when he sees one."
– Thinking of his wealth rather than the bigger picture, that’s who he was; the man that kick-started the academy’s legacy. The allegations against him did have some truth after all. These are the…grey areas in the city's legislature, but all is well—according to the comments of high nobles.
Student Life
– Students work hard in Clelarth. Well…as hard as a noble can anyway.
– The student population being primarily composed of high elites has its downfalls. The students mainly focus on their image, working on connections rather than bettering the city.
– Most of the time, they are off partying till their heart's content. Less than 20 percent of their time is actually spent studying.
╰ There are many events and parties catering towards Clalerth students. The hosts usually are other nobles trying to be on friendly terms with.
VOXIA, Academy of Mages
Yuri: “I hope you all have a wonderful trip as I am not the one guiding you through this one. Good luck!”
???: “My, has it been a while since I’ve been in the spotlight….” …: ヾ(≧∇≦)ゞ ???: “Oh? Well it appears that I’ll have a little assistant with me.” ???: “…Shall we begin?”
– VOXIA. The Academy of Mages. The most awaited, architecturally beautiful, powerful, and–in my humble opinion–the most important academy.
╰ “But isn't Tridalia academy, the General’s academy, the most important in the city?” They produce top level knights, yes…but even his little school lacks the talent the Academy of Mages has.
???: “Make sure not to tell Head Butler Arias about this, else I’ll get an earful.” …: ( ÒㅅÓ) ? ???: “Why? He’s a die-hard-fan.” ???: “Can’t reason with delusion, now can you?”
– The academy is run by the Nomads of ‘The Three King Mágos’. It is also the most prestigious academy in the whole of Teyvat for producing competent mages.
╰ Although this doesn’t mean that all the famous mages hail from here. You needn't graduate from the academy to become a great mage. Like the mages of the Hexenzirkel, they never stepped foot in this lovely academy.
???: *Reading ahead on the script* “It seems Yuri made everything more complicated again.” …: (・о・)ノ ???: “Curious about the Nomads?” …: ( ̄▽ ̄) 👍 ???: “Well…”
– Currently, there are four clans in the city, the Nomads are composed of three of them. You can think of the three clans as mini-nations inside of the city, States in other words. They have their own rules and adhere to different leaders, depending on which clan they’re born into.
– They’re rulers, bearing the title “King Mage,” come from a long line of succession dating back to the The Three King Mágos, and the succession doesn’t discriminate against gender. So if you had dreams of becoming one, better start dreaming something else.
History
– VOXIA was created as a deal between the Three Nomad Kings and Her Grace. The deal was struck to better the city’s magic, and for the Nomads to gain land and protection from the city.
╰ This deal also includes the Nomads control over the regulations of magic within the city, as well as establishing a state exclusively for them.
– There have been very prominent mages ever since the Nomads gave their knowledge of magic. Great Mages are known to be the most powerful of the bunch. Great Mage is an official title that can be granted, and many of the Great Mages vary between individuals. They are to be held in high regard, regardless of opinion.
╰ The title is given by the Nomads.╰ The current Headmage of VOXIA has been unanimously agreed to be the greatest Great Mage by the students of VOXIA. Anyone in disagreement is more than welcomed to appeal to the Great Mage's Fanatic Fellowship, otherwise known as GMFF.
???: “‘Note: This will be expanded upon once the time comes.’” ???: “That’s all the information she wanted us to show in this section. …: (´ー`)? ???: “Hmm, I believe she will reveal the rest once she starts writing the plot of the city. Not that she already knows exactly what she wants from it…but you didn't hear that from me!”
Graduation
– Entrance exams. The apex of student stress. They are easier than people think they are, and often just constitute checking if you have the qualifications to become a mage.
– Registers need the following: a vision, have a talent or affinity for elemental energy, and know the basics of spell.
╰ The affinity to elemental energy part varies between years, age, and sometimes how one perceives the elements.
╰ The academy is generous enough to offer a few basic spells in the newspapers for oncoming mages to start their long journey.
…: (T_T) ???: “Simple? Well, it has to be simple. This school was built to teach magic, not restrain your pursuit of it. That said, if you don’t qualify, that’s that. You can’t enter the school.” …: (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧💸💸💸 ???: “Pff… You think you can enter…with enough Mora? Yeah right.” ???: “Hmm, I did hear of high nobles trying to buy their children into VOXIA, but it was all for nought.” ???: “I wonder if it’s possible in other academies…” ???: “Ah! If we keep this up, we’ll be behind schedule!”
– Graduation requirements are not as simple as entering, but it is far easier than studying to become an Up-holder. Around 84% of students become graduates of VOXIA. This is due to different programs in which a young mage can apply for. There is the Enchantees Course, the Elemental Mastery Course, the Potion course, to name a few more.
– Once a young mage has chosen a course, they will begin their 3 to 9 year journey–all depending on their chosen course. – Once a mage has successfully passed all their required curriculum, they may take the Final Mage Exam and finally graduate after all the blood and sweat they spilled grinding.
Final Mage Exams
– A mages final exam differs from courses, eg., If you take the potion course, then you’ll need to be tested on your proficiency and quality of potions you make during a selected time period.
╰ Simple enough, isn't it? This is the main cause for the graduation percentage.
– The exams are littered all throughout the year, and each Department decides when and where the exams will take place. Most Departments would try and make tests not collide with each other, or those of other academies. But with how many tests there are, it’s almost impossible.
╰ So if you're looking for that nice long vacation, you’d better reconsider when your professor announces the date of your exam.
– There are two courses that are popular: the Elemental Mastery and Mage Ministry course. More specifically, the examiners are the main focus.
– To pass said courses, you need to prove proficiency in advanced magic spells, mastery of elemental energy, and, for Mage Ministry takers, they will need to pass the Minister Rite of Passage.
???: “Oh, there is an endnote for this section, ‘Note: this section will be expanded upon along with Tridalia’s Grand Entrance Exam.’ endnote.” ???: “...Just how complicated is she making this? Surely, she could have written it much simpler like Dreaming in Parallels world building…” …: ( ͠° ͟ʖ ͡°)? ???: “Hm…? Oh, just one of her many worlds. Don’t worry your pretty little head about it.”
Student Life
– There is a fellowship hierarchy in the academy. The longer you’ve been in the academy, the more status you have.
– Mages in higher years can welcome newbie mages by accepting them as apprentices. The more apprentices a mage obtains, the more ‘status’ you gain.
╰ This means that mages in older grades are constantly scouring for new talent so they can brag about it.
╰ But this also means that those mages who have a high number of apprentices will be selective on who they accept; younger mages will fight tooth and nail to fill in those limited spots.
– Young mages may have class together with other course takers, although this is extremely rare. Encountering older mages teaching younger ones in libraries and classes is not a new sight, and teachers like it, they get a break from having too many students asking questions.
– Young mages will try to get with mages who are in courses that are similar to theirs, with an exception: the Mage Ministry Course. Mages of all courses will try to be apprentices of older mages in the Minister Mage course, mostly because of the implications of it.
╰ Mages taking this course are looking at 9 years of study. After graduation, Mage Ministers can enter the mage ranks of the Nomads, and become well known in the city. Higher than the average Up-holder.
…: (ㄒoㄒ) ???: “Yes, that’s right. The only way to enter the Nomads mage ranks is by becoming a Mage Minister. …: (╭☞•̀o•́)╭☞ ???: “Mage Ministers administer magic across the whole nation. This also includes the Nomads, as much as they want to whine about this authority.” ???: “They are essentially Up-holders of magic.”
– Because of the limited space in VOXIA, there is only a small library. Unfortunately for the students, it’s restricted, and can only be entered if authorized, are a staff, or a Mage Minister. So students like to study in the city’s Grand Library, otherwise known as Her Grace’s Library.
╰ It is rumored that the restricted library in the academy houses to powerful spells that are not meant for mortal eyes.
…: Σ(・口・)??? ???: “Is it true? *Shrug* It is only a rumor created by some students a few centuries ago.” ???: “Given the mysteriousness of the rumor, the time it’s been brewing, and the libraries inaccessibility, it gave students creative freedom to say what they thought of it. Now, it’s become an urban legend.”
???: “There are other rumors and theories going around at the moment, but this is the most popular.” ???: “And that about sums up what this academy is. It’s a shame I can only say a few things about it, Yuri wants to dive deeper into it herself in the future.” …: ( ◔3◔)? ???: “Just how much does she have in store? I have an idea of what she has up her sleeves…but I'm not telling!” ???: “Now, I’ll pass you, dears, back to Yuri. Have a nice trip! *waving* ” …: (◡́.◡̀)ゞ
Holy Neele Academiae
– Holy Neele Academiae targets all the studies the other academies don’t have, eg., medicine, language, the arts, ect..
– there's nothing much to say about it than that.
Student Life
– Out of all the schools, Holy Neele’s students have the healthiest and most balanced student lives. No over studying until your eyes gush out, no one-nighters, and a healthy dose of student stress over tests and exams.
[Note]: Most students in Holy Neele get traumatized when they make friends from other academies. All they see are zombies and war zones when exams roll around. Poor souls.
Agiasmos
– Agiasmos is newer in terms of when it was established but don’t let that misguide you, as this beautiful building has three centuries under its belt.
– For clarification, Agiasmos is not an academy, but a research hobby for new technology and innovations. It’s similar to the Fontaine Research Institute of Kinetic Energy Engineering, as they research about all types of things related to the advancement of humanity.
– Created by the leading technology researchers of their time, Agiasmos has seen the fruits of many geniuses in their three-hundred year journey. Many came and went, others dedicated their entire lives in the betterment of the city and its people within these walls.
╰ Many noteworthy researchers are known, but are not common knowledge. Unless you’ve made it big and are worthy enough to have a statue in your image–like the famous researcher who build the city’s first Hot-air Balloon–then most citizens won’t know about you.
– In this current era of researchers, the lack of talent is evident. But, there have been a few young researchers that’ve made a reputation for themselves in the last couple of years. One, in particular, has been working to build a machine capable of launching humans to the stars without the use of any type of elemental energy.
Life of a Researcher
– The daily life of a researcher is composed of waking up, drinking three scoops of instant coffee with cold milk, researching whatever piques their interest, getting stuck on their research, pulling out their hair until they somehow make a theory, passing out from sheer exhaustion, and repeat. The day doesn't start when the rays of sun invade, nor does night determine when to sleep.
– In other words, they are workaholics.
[Fun Facts]
– The first batch of Up-holders were trained by Vimlar, along a dear friend of his
Vimlar taught the first batch of Up-holders alongside a dear friend of his.
– The original camp of Up-holders is still in use today. Although it's not the current Up-holder base anymore, it has now changed to accommodate the training of the newbies, AKA, the students’ training ground.
– The name “Up-holders” wasn't the original name for these trained knights. In fact, it was changed to this because the previous name was too uncouth for Her Grace's taste.
╰ They were called “The Bringers of Doom”. Her Grace didn’t like it, sounding too violent for her ideals. Vimlar was a pouting mess for a week because of this. The trainees faced the consequences that week.
– Clelarth has its own library. Good luck trying to find anything unrelated to law, as most of the books within its collection are about just that.
– In recent years, a unique partnership has developed between students of both Tridalia and Clelath Academies. As part of their curriculum, students from both academies need to study law; students realised that they could become study partners.
╰ Their camaraderie has build to the point that a large chunk of Clelarth students go and cheer for their friends during the Grand Entrance Exam of Tridalia academy.
– There's a heated debate among the citizens regarding who's the better ruler for the city. If you happen to stumble into this discussion, I advise you to turn around and not get involved. The 'rulers' in question here are Her Grace and the Head of the Nomads. You don't want to get caught up in that hornet's nest, believe me.
╰ Last time there was an outright war. At the end, the Up-holders had to step in and stop the whole thing before anyone got injured.

Slice of Life series OG creator: @udretlnea
Don’t ask me who the lady in the top right corner is because I have no idea 🤷♀️. She just appeared in the vision I had of this poster after reading the latest chapter, and I was like, “I have to draw this ASAP”. Which led to me raising from my bed, and proceeding to spend the next hour and a half drawing this. AGH I’M MAD MY ART SKILLS DON’T DO MY VISION JUSTICE.
Omg I just noticed Lyla’s braid is on the wrong side. Kill me 🤡

Might as well use this as an update for my blog—haven’t posted for a while 👀. Here we go!
1) I finished the comic strip for both Lyla and Cecilia! As well as a little extra thing…. Anyway— for those interested, go to @udretlnea and see the new chapters he posted for more context!
2) I have been working again on the Arcs, and this is mostly polishing a few things that are ehh—trust me, it’s a jumbled mess of encyclopedia for the City. Just making it understandable and short.
3) The Divine City story is on hiatus. I should of said this sooner, but classes got in the way. Reason for the hiatus? I HATE it. Not the concept, no, just the way I’ve been writing it. It’s boring to follow the OG story to the tea as I’ve been doing. And this isn’t a new feeling, I’ve been feeling this since a few chapters ago but couldn’t figure out what to change it to. On the bright side—now that I took summer semester off to do a couple of things—I can start working again on the story! And it won’t be the only story I’ll be working on hopefully.
4) I plan to post more art on this blog. I need to practice for my fall art classes and this just seemed to be the best way to show off, while also getting motivation to draw.
I think that’s it! I should go to sleep now…
—Yuri out 🥱✌️

The issue with translation is true as the original cutscene was different. If my memory serves me right, that wasn’t mentioned then. The part where a throne was broken. Originally, it was mentioned how Decarebean’s tower fell. It did not mentioning anything regarding a “devine throne”.
But let us assume that the text here is true, and is additional information. What if killing a god atop a throne destroys it? I mean, Focalors basically killed herself and destroyed it. And we have no idea how destroying a throne might affects the god’s power that ascends, if one can, after that.
Although this brings more questions than answers:
If the throne was truly broken, wouldn’t the Anemo Sovereign have authority over the element since then?
Who is the Anemo Sovereign? Dvalin? Or someone else?
If no other gods can ascend to the throne after it is broken, then how did Venti become the Anemo Archon? (OMG DID HE PULL A FURINA???)
Assuming the throne was indeed destroyed. If Venti did ascend, does that mean Fontaine will have another god ascending in the future? (It is said that after an Archon dies, another will assume the position, like Decaribbean with Venti, Makoto with Ei, or Greater Lord Rukkhadevata with Nahida)
So wait; Is that why Venti is the "weakest archon"? Because his divine throne was already destroyed before the game even began??

Winter 2025 Anime Overview: ZENSHU
Premise: Natsuko Hirose is an animator and director lauded as a genius, but she’s struggling with her newest movie, insisting on doing everything herself. Then she dies from food poisoning and is transported to the world of her favorite anime movie, the one that inspired her career. Natsuko finds she has the power to literally draw and animate beings that will then fight the monsters attacking them—can she use her power to save the day and avoid the movie’s tragic ending?
Zenshu is a love letter to animation, artistic inspiration, and stories in general. I’ve been waiting for an isekai anime that actually uses the “transported into the world of my favorite piece of media” in a creative and meaningful way that explores storytelling and the ramifications of interacting with a narrative, and Zenshu is finally it.
Natsuko is struggling with creating a movie about "first love" because she’s never had one, and then bam, she’s transported into the world of A Tale of Perishing, a movie that flopped hard (likely due in part to how depressing the ending is) but it’s been Natsuko’s favorite since childhood and was what inspired her to become an animator.

Natsuko specifically using her animation prowess to save the day is just also an amazing idea, and it looks great. She basically pulls out her pegboard, and then undergoes a magical girl transformation that just ends with her being at her desk. The animation she creates then rises up and beats the monsters, and they’re usually references to something—the first one being the God warrior from Nausicaa.
There’s a lot of fun little gags, like her needing to sleep for three days after because that’s how long that sequence would normally take to animate and a lot of little nerdy in-jokes, like Natsuko being in rapture at finally getting to eat anime food, or coming up with a sentai pose for her team.

(And speaking of references, Natsuko's first hit show was a clear combination of Sukeban Deka and Sailor Moon, which I now dearly want to exist in real life).
Suiting a show about an animator, the animation for the series is consistently gorgeous and full of individuality. The comedic and storytelling strengths of the director and screenwriter duo of Mitsue Yamazaki and Kimiko Ueno (two women who previously worked together on adapting Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun, one of my favorite anime) are on full display here too.

Natsuko is a fun and relatable character, avoiding some of the typical tropes for anime girl leads- she’s an adult, she spends the entire anime in an oversized hoodie and jeans and a lot of it with her hair covering her face Cousin It style, and when her “style” is pointed out as sloppy, her response is “I’ll dress how I want." She’s cynical and sarcastic and a huge nerd. It’s fun to see her automatically clash with the characters she’s loved since she was a child, showing that characters we love can be annoying as real life people, which I’ve always wanted isekai to explore.

The other characters are fun too—Luke is our stereotypical Hero character, but spending all his time fighting evil has actually made him extremely socially clueless, and he reveals himself pretty adorable after a while. Natsuko and the cute little mascot unicorn hate each other on sight, and it’s incredibly fun.
The often puts a clever twist on some tired tropes—Natsuko runs into Luke’s damsel in distress love interest (who's supposed to end up fridged, to boot) and rather than fight with her over Luke, Natsuko leads her to realize she actually has agency and can be whoever she wants—the result is amazing, and includes some lighthearted criticism of misogynist narratives. I go into it in detail in this post, minor spoilers.
The show is also very queer positive. We’re introduced to a dragon-person who, in the dub, uses they-them pronouns. In the sub, some viewers interpret them as a lesbian, but whatever your take, they're queer regardless, and Natsuko indicates some physical attraction to them. They’re also a great character, funny and tragic and cool all at once.
One episode goes into the people who have crushed on Natsuko over the years (while she remains oblivious) and the first one is a young girl and classmate of hers, who identifies Natsuko as her first love. I go into more detail about how sweet this part is in this post. It’s just a very casually queer show, and I appreciate that.
The themes of the story are interesting, the show explores the pressures of being a creator, the way you can shut others out and insist you know best, and what inspiration is. Natsuko begins to struggle with the fact A Tale of Perishing is her favorite movie in part because of how it puts a more dour spin on a fantasy story, and it's inspired her so much...but now the characters are real people she cares about. So she has to stop their fates even if it messes with the creator’s vision. But the question is, CAN SHE, or are they literally doomed by the narrative?

The ending is where things get a little muddled. It isn’t bad, but it’s rushed compared to the rest of the show, and feels a little too easy. I wish Natsuko had interacted way more with the original creator and we’d really gotten a clash of their opposing viewpoints. I feel we barely scratched the surface.
Going into slight spoilers territory with this paragraph, skip if you don't want any: The ending I think, can either be interpreted as either 1. Fanworks and interpretations are valid as hell and creators who look down on them are wrong (this is a bit of a stretch since the series doesn’t mention fanfic or doujinshi at any other point) or 2. It’s fine to take inspiration from your creative heroes, but you have to be willing to do something different, and accept the support of others. Conversely, a creator that is too precious about their work, who shuts out others and who looks down on those who take inspiration from them because they’re doing something different, is wrong and misguided.
That’s my best guess, but as I said, the themes get muddled in the last episode, in a way it takes some serious thinking to decipher a message that’s super applicable to real life. Like “these characters are real people now” is a nice motivation and drama, but not one that seems to a ton about art, though it does play into the theme that Natsuko needs to learn to let others in and connect to them.
Like I said, it’s not a bad ending, I was happy with it, it just felt a little undercooked. There were characters I wanted to explore a bit more. show’s message about art could have been stronger, and it left some potentially really interesting and meaningful stuff on the table...but the show was still amazing. I loved its creativity and characters all the way through.

The story is good, the characters are lovable, and the animation is top-notch. This has already earned it’s place on the top anime of the year list and I really implore you to check it out if you love anime and art at all! It's a thoroughly good time.
