hi, thanks for asking! i've been away due to personal reasons but i could never abandon this project - it's a story and universe i am always writing towards. the current version of ts:o will most likely remain up on itch.io as is, as the game's legacy version, while i work towards a remaster with capability for more art and sound.

The Northern Passage has been updated!

09.25.24: This update consists of what was previously the prologue; it's now our new Chapter 1. Heavy edits have been made and various scenes have been rewritten, as well as overall improvements with the combat system and lore to make the game more cohesive.

The demo, for the time being, will cut off at the end of this new Chapter 1. My plan is to continue editing and rewriting Chapter 2 (what was previously the first chapter after the prologue) and hopefully rerelease that relatively soon, and then complete the new content update and release all of Chapter 3. This process, while tedious, is helping me tremendously with streamlining code & fixing previous mistakes made by me when I first started this project, and while I wanted to avoid going back and editing originally until much later in the process, this is just something that I had to do in order to move forward with Chapter 3.

I've also updated the content warnings on the game page and allowed for players to turn on warnings in-game, so you get a more specific list of warnings at the start of each chapter (like with Blood Choke).

As always, please let me know if you run into any errors, especially since part of this rewrite included me redoing a lot of my messy code and renaming passages, etc. Thank you everyone for your patience and continued support of this game over the years 💕

Passings and Hiatus

Bex here. We have a very very sad message from the rest of the group which needed to shared.

Hi Everyone, This was not an easy post to write, but something that still should be communicated. During the night of Sunday to Monday, Marjorie suffered an aneurysm. Unfortunately, she passed away before anything could be done. Marjorie had been sick for a very long time, but her state deteriorated this year, and worsened during this summer. She had felt for a while she would probably not see many more milestones or even get to the end of the year, but she did her best to stay with us for as long as she could. Marjorie strived to fill her days with happy moments and do things that made her happy, especially at the end. She wanted others to feel loved, appreciated, and seen, with her actions. In recent years, Interactive Fiction brought her a lot of joy (and sadness, and anger, etc...), and through it, she could connect with others - others who didn't see her in pain or sickly. IF had become her safe heaven when things were rough. What's New in IF? would not have existed without Marjorie. Truly. She was the one who came up with the idea. She wanted to do something special, she told us, to bring some positive into the world, however she could. Marjorie was the one who hyped us up, and brought us on board. It was an electric time, and we stayed up deep into the night messing around to make... something with the idea. It wasn't well thought out, and we didn't realize what we were getting into, but she'd never been this excited about something in recent time. So, she became the captain who steered this little ship of friends, connected through our appreciation of and love for the medium. But she wasn't just the idea person, she was down in the trenches, organizing it all, spearheading us on the right path, turned words into actions. When we needed some time, she would take over without a second's notice. She was always there, no matter what, at the ready. She hoped, by her little idea and couple of hours of afflicting efforts, she was doing at least a little good for the community. She worried, often, that she wasn't doing enough, or doing it well enough, to give back the last of herself to the community who made those past years enjoyable for her. But not once did she want to pull that string publicly: she never wanted to take attention away from those who worked hard on their craft (her words). It mattered so much to her. Through her and thanks to her, we learned so much. About ourselves and each other. And we shared with each other our appreciation for others, what we were passionate about, what we hoped for ourselves. She made us such better people, and we could never thank her enough for it. Marjorie was first and foremost a loving daughter, a kind and attentive friend, and a passionate woman. Even with her failing health, she advocated for all who needed even a tiny bit support. She was a wonderful and compassionate soul, who always tried to see the best in people, but was never afraid to confront those who needed to face their mistakes. She forgave easily and loved even more. Marjorie, you left behind a very quiet and empty space, and already are and always will be sorely missed. - Noi, Axelle, and the rest of FMoDF Gang (Erika, Joss, Olive, Derek, Chaz)

As I'm sure you can all understand that this was a surprise for us and everyone who was close to Mrajorie, I think we can all say she was an amazing woman who invited me (Bex), Brij and Dion to help and create this wonderful Zine. We do wish to continue this on but we will be pausing this until at least the end of September until we can get our bearings and talk about future plans.

Let me assure you, this tumblr will stay and be available to keep a trace of her, the memories and support she gave everyone in the IF community.

Hi, I know it's late and I hope you don't mind but let me congratulate you on the demo relaunch!

After playing the new demo yesterday I got an urge to put into words how spooky (read: amazing) the game is, like I can feel the deliberate pacing and tension build up. The text delay and shake are also genius moves. IF is a challenging medium for horror in my opinion, but TS:O is a unique experience from the first time I discovered it, and I love your attempt at making it visually creepy too. I found myself holding my breath throughout my gameplay.

Anyway just treat this ask as a fan letter, because it is, and I wish you can keep writing what you love and love what you write ❤️

my endless personal battle with writing is that words on a screen never feel sufficient in expressing the voices (or stories) in my head.. and I feel like some of TS:O's horror keeps begging me to shift its medium to deliver better on itself, but I'm just slow to respond.

of course recoding everything did mean sacrificing writing time and delaying the release of new content, but as a life-long perfectionist I'm happier knowing that what's publicly available is in its best state. there's still lots of room for improvement and I'd love to work on adding sounds and music to the game in the full release stage to make it a better experience :)

You look up at her, licking your lips. "I'm a vampire," you say, and then you laugh. There's no way to say it without sounding ridiculous.

In Blood Choke, you play as a reawakened vampire, with no memory of who you are or what you did to result in your entombment. Fumble your way through your first few days after waking up in a strange, overwhelming future-- meet new friends and reunite with an old flame.

God, I usually stay away from horror because I'm a wimp, and you've proven me right (in a good way!)

Literally halfway through the demo, I had to take a mini-break because I was just getting so tense. You built the suspense in a way that I really enjoyed, and now I need to cool down for a bit now XD

As soon as the situation is over my MC is going straight over to check on Sophie, I'm a healer at heart and every moment I could, I was reassuring her to make sure she was okay.

They get over a thousand requests for connection a day, but their email inbox is regularly sitting at 300-500 eSims. With the bombardment of Rafah and continual internet blackouts, the need for more eSims is particularly urgent.

Even if you have already sent an eSim or donated to an eSim donation drive, there is more you can do. The team is calling for people to campaign in their communities to help spread the word about eSims and encourage donations.
