Morrigan, Dragon Age Inquisition

I keep trying to paint with gouache, a request from a friend - Morrigan. I personally prefer her design from DA:O, but was asked to paint an Inquisition version.

Material - Gouache. Trying designer set of Schmincke this time. Really pleasant to work with, but weird choice of colours. Though I wouldn't have been able to do it without magenta in this case.

I have an issue with all the "starting to remember how to traditional art" shit: if the pencil sketch is good - I immediately don't feel like painting it, because I know I'll fuck it up. Ugh, I need a printer that can handle thick textured paper, so I can make several copies of the sketch and ruin them as many times as I want :(

Unfortunately, my weekly challenge with D is over, they can't continue due to work plus studying. I will still try to draw something once a week. If anyone has an art marathon of any sort to suggest - please let me know. I am trying to restart drawing after a 3-year-long art block caused by an excruciating job as a 3d-artist in game dev industry.

Art challenge with D, week 3

Our week 3 topic with Chat GPT prompts was "Lost island with an abandoned temple".

Suggested palette was dark blue, blue-purple, and gold (#00008B, #FFD700, #8A2BE2).

I've always been bad with landscapes, so it is more of a sketch, but the palette was not as bad as I anticipated.

Also, my first time trying Clip Stupio Paint - pretty satisfied! Will explore it further.

Also, yay me, drawing third week in a row, I'm on the way to defeating my artist block!

Art challenge with D, week 2

Week 2 topic Chat GPT gave us: "Picnic in a fantasy world - world where magic is part of everyday life. Think of unusual dishes, fantastic creatures, unique nature around".

This time we also had the palette chosen by Chat GPT, and it was red, pink, and acid green (#DC143C, #FFC0CB, #7FFF00).

Acid green is a nasty color that is hard to use as is. Would have been easier if I went with gouache and lots of mixing - two opposite colours plus pink would be nice to paint skin. But making it a picnic... nah, didn't feel like whole ass scene in this technique.

Done in Photoshop.

Not too happy with the result, but better than not doing anything at all. So yay me, drawing two weeks in a row.

Art challenge with D, week 1

So, I've been trying to restart drawing and it is not easy, so my friend and I have decided to ask Chat GPT for topics of weekly drawings.

Our week 1 topic was: "Greeting Spring (a fantasy creature that brings spring)". Additional challenges: max 3 colours (not including black and white).

Here's my version:

Materials - Ohuhu watercolor markers, white gel pen, liner.

Not a fan of the markers, would have been easier with regular watercolor.

I commissioned this beauty from @timolech for my next cross-stitch. Can't wait to start it! Hope I can get to it after I'm done with the wedding and stuff, I'm itching to do this one.

In case anyone was wondering, I am still alive and slowly working on the border. Don't have much time to cross-stitch since it's my wedding next month. Will finish when I finish :) Also, decided to do a white trim around the contour after the border is done.

Well friends, we're here... Thank you so much to everyone who has accompanied me on this stitchy journey, both those that are still following and those that fell off the wagon long ago (I don't blame you this took FOREVER).

I suggest we organise a wake for my wallet cause I'm gonna have to get this one professionally framed as I very much lack the skills needed to wrangle this beast. XD
