i was wondering why i so consistently feel like the leverage team could outwit the white collar team when the white collar team is shown to be incredibly competent and skilled. and like. part of it is that the leverage team just has more versatility and expertise in different areas rather than relying on a jack-of-all-trades mentality (not that that isn't incredibly effective) but i think a bigger part of it is scale.
the white collar team, neal and mozzie in particular, pull off some crazy impressive shit, but none of it is necessarily earthshattering. it changes the course of the lives of people immediately around them, and immediately involved, but there seems to be less of a ripple effect. it's like what nate worries about in the fourth season of leverage--there's always another bad guy. there's always another bastard in a suit. there's always someone greedy and selfish, a monster of the week. part of it is the procedural format and part of it is just that that isn't the white collar team's job. it's not what they're trained for. take down the bad guy.
and then you look at the leverage team, and a lot of it is monster of the week, but in the middle of that you turn around and you get the san lorenzo job. you get five people destroying every layer of protection around the worst of the worst. damien moreau is the bad guy, as recognized by every other goddamn bad guy. and it's hard as hell but they take him down and change the course of an entire country and possibly the international community around them, and that makes waves.
and yeah, there's always another bastard in a suit, but the longer the leverage team works, the more it spreads. the more people try and do what they're doing. hurley ends up joining leverage international. teams crop up around the world. even sterling moves to protect them in redemption bc of a: his connection to nate and b: the real measured difference they're making. it's why breanna idolizes them. it's why they're able to help two young people who have never committed crimes in their lives take down a downright evil music exec. hardison even steps back from the team to run multiple changemaking programs to do the work of fixing the system and the damage.
the scale is different. the scope is different. factor in that each individual on the team is already legendary in their own respects (cha0s is so terrified of double-crossing sophie devereaux that he fully tries to kill her, the "world's greatest thief" has been chased by nate ford multiple times and almost caught, other thieves refer to parker as the parker because she's just that goddamn good, hardison is rightfully known as a nightmare with a computer, and eliot spencer is eliot goddamn spencer) and...yeah. neal caffrey is incredibly skilled and peter burke is incredibly smart and they're a damn good duo. but the leverage team is a step beyond and i loooove reading fics where that comes into play

Hugh played this scene dead straight and for that alone he deserves an Emmy. Peter Jacobson as well for not the faintest smirk, just serious doctoring the whole scene. Insane choice.
Although my favourite part of this episode is Hugh’s impression of RSL’s absolutely terrible English accent. (I can’t actually believe he won a Tony talking like that).

Shout out to all the Black ppl that can no longer participate directly in the fandom they love because of the stresses of racism 👍🏾 you contain multitudes of value and I'm sorry that the color of your skin and the power of your voice makes people not want to acknowledge that.

Truthfully? Order 23 Job
Its fun, you get to see Eliot beat up an abusive dad. Nate literally owns the creepy mastermind persona (and chaotic neutral alignment) he's building up for the season, and the schmuck gets satisfactorily booted. Sophie's acting chops are as good as ever--naturally. And then you have Parker as support lead for Nate.
Nice Nate and Parker bonding moments. Eliot and Hardison moments and my personal favorite moment is when all of them are in that abandoned hospital floor, they look like they're going through their moms old things. It's just-- there's a domesticity that's there and I can pinpoint that exact moment where they're all comfortable with each other and just playing the chemistry off one another super well.
Granted, season 2 is my least favorite season because it feels off. Like they were trying to end it as fast as possible. But this episode? My go to again and again, because it just feels right.
If we went by season though (not counting finales or random two-parters) the best ones are:
Season 1: The Snow Job
Season 2: Order 23 Job
Season 3: The Inside Job
Season 4: The Cross My Heart Job
Season 5: The Broken Wing Job
You'll note that most of these are either Parker Centric or Nate-centric. Here's the thing. Outside of the finales, a lot of these episodes don't progress the characters that much. They do some character explorations, but they're also not the main focus (not counting Sophie's season 2 arc). The heist is the focus. In these episodes you get the best character introspections Leverage has ever produced while pulling off ridiculous heists no average joe could pull off.
I unfortunately have not had the chance to go through all of Leverage: Redemption so I won't get into it.
Hi, yes
So I'm on season four rn and I need y'alls opinion:
What's the best episode of leverage?

... I'm gonna be honest, I don't remember that being emphasized. I just remember them saying he wasn't *bad-looking*. Meaning, he could look presentable and nice if he put the effort into it. Like, in-universe Sterling was the better version (aesthetically at least) to Nate if he didn't try.
Eliot is Just That Good Looking, but Nate has to put in *some* effort.

Things I hadn't noticed in the Nigerian Job till my 6th re-watch-
The thing is, Parker does go out on the original count Nate starts on the rooftop, not the one he restarts after Hardison comments. That is her following the plan. The original plan.
Now when Hardison has Eliot at gunpoint in the abandoned factory Dubenich assembled them in, when Nate asked Eliot why he didn't look worried Eliot says 'safety's on', but Hardison doesn't fall for it. It's only when NATE says it he goes to check and gets the gun taken away. He gets the doubt from NATE, not Eliot. Because Nate is the (former) white knight, the straight and narrow, the Not-thief in their merry little band. They show us from the beginning just how powerful Nate's role is, having played both sides of the coin
Thirdly, Nate approaches a pissed off and cheated-out-of-her-money Parker a lot different than he treated the other two. He talks to Eliot in a levelheadedness he knows a professional hitter and extraction specialist like him would have. And he treats Hardison with quick and easy ruses so he's appeased and disarmed for the moment allowing him a moment to calm down. But PARKER, he treats with care and patience. Not condescension. Just a healthy respect for the fact that she is the best at what she does and the fact that she's not gotten her money yet makes her unpredictable and with her skillset nearly unwavering at her stance.
Idk man, every time I watch this show I'm blown away at the details and characterizations

You are working the gate in the afterlife and for the first time ever, something the humans built has shown up to be processed. You’re not sure what to do, this… entity shouldn’t have a soul, but here it is in front of you, freshly dead and awaiting the next life.

I know I already made a comment about The Rundown Job: but I just- I-I just want to talk about a particular scene. (This sucks, because I'm making posts on my phone because I don't have a laptop. AND because I'm not tech savvy enough to figure out how to make gifs and memes!) But the scene. It's in my top five favorite scenes. The scene?
Just after Eliot calls Vance- and then it switches to Eliot talking to him. Leading up to shaking hands Parker is nervous. Rightfully so. There's too many FBI agents. Too many cops. Too many people who can catch them. Still. Parker and Hardison folllow Eliot. They stay by him and when Eliot realizes what's gonna happen? That Vance is going to arrest them?
They circle each other. Eliot has his back to Hardison and Parker. Parker's back to Eliot and Hardisons. Hardison's back to Parker and Eliot. They trust each other enough to flank. Guys. These people are thieves, hackers, and hitters. Only one of them is professional trained.
They know they can't take them all. Still Parker and Hardison don't run. Despite being trapped. They don't give each other up. Parker and Hardison know that Eliot isn't dumb and that Eliot won't let them get hurt. He's rather die than allow them to get hurt. In the same way Parker and Hardison won't let Eliot get hurt.
And (this I know had been stated!) when they are put into the back of the prison truck- and Parker falls asleep. (Even if it's pretend,) she still trusts Hardison and Eliot. Not to mention Hardison doesn't question Eliot. Doesn't ask him how he could have gotten it all wrong- he just sits and listens.
Hardison and Parker know Eliot. I think more than Eliot realizes.
This is just another reason why I believe they are soulmates.
