quick update

greetings everyone! I know i haven't been active as much and i wanted to give a quick reason why. I recently started at a new job and my hours have been weird (im waking up at 4 am). So i'm still trying to get used to everyone plus i do have a little bit of writers block. I have the beginning and end to a story just not the middle (a.k.a the majority of it)

I'm hoping within the next month to get everyone back on track and start writing again. I apologize for how long these request are taking

"What are you painting that for Inari?" Futaba asked while peering around the side of the taller male."

"A contest. The wonderful Y/N has opened to contest to design her next album, and I intent to be that winner.

"You're entering a contest? That sounds wonderful." Makoto spoke as she entered the room, with Ann following. "Yeah, I'm sure you're gonna win for sure!"

The tall male softly smiled at his two friends encouraging words.

"Truth be told i am unsure if i can actually win this contest. However i will not let that stop me from creating the best work of art i possibly can."

For the next several minutes, Yusuke painted away on his canvas. Brush sliding across the canvas, leaving strokes of color in its wake. His friends conversation drowned out as his full attention is on the work in front of him.

He took a few steps back to get the full view of his work before letting out a loud gasp.

"It is perfection. An absolute work of art."

At the artists outburst. Everyone quickly gathered around to see the finished work. Their words of approval muddle together as they all spoke at once, Yet Yusuke still got the meaning as a proud smile rises on his lips.

"So what's next?" Ann spoke up after she was done admiring his work. "I take a several picture of it and send it in. It'll take a few weeks, maybe even months before I hear anything back."

Every morning over a next several weeks, Yusuke woke up and checked his emails. However instead of simply deleting the spam like normal, he was looking for a specific one. The one that told him weather or not he won the contest.

After multiple mornings of disappointments, he finally got the message. However he didn't open it right away. Instead he messaged the group chat asking if they could meet up all together.

When everyone finally arrived he quickly informed everyone of the reasoning behind his request.

"Well what did they say? Did ya win or not?" Ryuji spoke up first.

Yusuke sighed softly before speaking "I am unsure, I could not bring myself to open it. I admit it scared me to face the possible rejection by myself."

Makoto was the first to move. Walking up to the male before holding our her hand.

"Well if you want, I could read it for you and tell you the news?"

With a smile, Yusuke handed over his device. "Ah, you have my thanks."

The student council president quickly began reading through the message. Mumble some of the words she came across, until she got to the important part.

"We thank you for taking time our of your day to imagine and create your art work. After careful consideration we have decided to use your work for S/N's next cover art."

Makoto didn't get to finish the full sentence before everyone began congratulation Yusuke. While everyone else was doing so she continued to read - then informed him later of the other details.

Over the next two weeks, Yusuke continues to read the second part of the email. Making sure he got the details correct and also to make sure he didn't just dream it

Yusuke still expect to wake up one morning unable to find the message or anything regarding the contest, making it just a dream

On the day of the event, treated it like a normal day. Got up, showered, eat breakfast then went to the venue to make sure he got a good spot. Sadly for him, everyone else had the same idea as a huge crowd has already formed. Men and woman alike screaming about how excited they are see you.

When it was his turn to enter, he was surprised to be informed that a special seat in the front row had been designated just for him.

Following directions, Yusuke stayed in his seat and waited for a staff member to get him.

Glancing around, he noted the slowly dwindling crowd. Meanwhile the screams of adoration still ringing in his ears, though you have left the stage several minutes ago.

It wasn't long after that a man in black with sunglasses approached him. "Miss S/N is ready to see you now." The man spoke before turning around and heading towards the backstage area.

The blue haired artist quickly hurried after the man and found his way backstage. Passing several important looking people before finding himself standing in front of a door with your name plastered on it.

After a knock on the door and a few words spoken, the man from before left and Yusuke found himself alone in the same room as you.

"So, You're the one who made the winning cover art?." Your words came out as a statement rather than a question. "Thank you. It's beautiful. You definitely have a lot of talent."

The artiest was at a loss for words. He was used to his friends complimenting his work, but never someone outside that friend circle. He muttered a jumble of words before finally spilling out a 'thank you'.

A soft giggle left your lips at his reaction, however you left it alone after that. Opting to switch to a more general question.

Neither one of you noticed how late it has gotten, It wasn't until your manger knocked on the door informing you of your tour bus arriving. You let out a slight swear at the realization before apologizing to Yusuke - assuming you took up all his time. To your surprised, he shook his head. "I had fun today, Otherwise I would have been sitting at my apartment all alone."

You were taken back by his reveal but quickly recovered and began writing something down on a piece of paper.

"Well, next time you're bored. Give me a call, or text. I really enjoyed talking to you today."

Yusuke thanked you for the offer, then made his way out of your dressing room and to the bus stop outside the venue. Once in his seat, the entire encounter hit him. Look down with a smile at your number.

December 11: too cold to get out of bed [kinda]

The weather has changed almost too quickly for your tastes; you can admit to enjoying a brisk breeze, maybe a few fluffy snowflakes across the lawn while you’re safe indoors. But when the chill invades your home, slipping past your windows and into your bones, well— that’s when the complaining starts, too.

“Didn’t I tell you that you’ve gotta sleep in your own bed?” Shinjiro’s already-deep voice is even rougher with the edge of sleep. You’ve nestled yourself under the covers with him, your face pressed firmly between his shoulder blades, and he hadn’t even flinched when your cold hands slipped under his warm shirt. “You’re the one that said the cold wouldn’t be so bad. Get back in your own room.”

“Mmm, nope,” you snuggle even closer. Shinji may be gruff and tough, but he’s got the softest spot in the world for you, both in his heart and in his bed. “I’m too cozy here now. You’re stuck with me.”

He sighs, a resigned sound, as if this whole situation was already set in stone. “—at least get your coldass feet off mine.”

You giggle to yourself as he rolls over, and one of Shinjiro’s large hands tangles in your hair, pressing your face into his broad chest as he rolls on top of you. “Hey—!” You squeak as he smothers you under his weight.

“Shut up,” he grumbles, “you said I’m stuck with you. Might as well keep you from complainin’ so I can get back to sleep.”

hidetoshi hadn't realized he was falling in love with you, until it was already too late.

the two of you worked closely together on the student council and hidetoshi always had a lot of respect for you. you seemed to get him, when nobody else did. he believed you to be the most valuable member of the team. but you were so much more to him than that.

“there's some guy waiting outside the student council room for you. do you want me to send him away for you?”

hidetoshi hadn't even considered that there were other people close to you. that you had friends in your class that he had never met. that you might even have a boyfriend. you never struck him as the type for such relationships. hidetoshi always assumed that you were like him. that you had no desire in dating, just like him. but he was so wrong. about so many things.

“some guy?” your eyes had lit up when you spotted him through the window. “oh, he's too early! wait a moment, i'll be right back–!”

you had jumped up and hurried outside, right into the arms of that guy. the two of you were so close, practically no personal space between each other. and when hidetoshi saw the guy holding your hand he felt… something.

for the longest time, he had no idea what he felt. his throat felt dry when he looked at the two of you. his heart felt heavy. it wasn't beating faster than usual, yet it felt different. and there was this mixture of conflicting emotions, that hidetoshi simply couldn't understand.

by the time hidetoshi understood that what he was feeling was jealousy, it was already too late. by that time, you and that guy, who continued to pick you up after every student council meeting, were dating. and it seemed pretty serious.

and hidetoshi hated it. he hated that he had fallen in love with you and realized it when it was already too late. he wondered how things could've been, if only he had figured it out sooner. if only he got a second chance with you. and then that chance came, after months of waiting…

“isn't your boyfriend picking you up again today? what was his name again…?”

hidetoshi tried to seem uninterested, noting down some things, as the other members of the student council began to pack their things and leave, after another successful meeting. only you sat there, not moving an inch. as if you weren't ready to leave just yet.

“you mean…?”

your voice was quiet and you quickly stopped yourself from talking, before you could even say his name. an awkward chuckle left your lips and you softly shook your head.

“no, he– i don't think he'll come pick me up again”

“oh–?”

hidetoshi had put his pen aside and dropped his uninterested act in a matter of seconds.

“we– well, we broke up a couple days ago…”

those words couldn't make hidetoshi any happier. he struggled to hide a smug smile, relieved that that guy was history now! but when noticed that you were clearly struggling with this situation, he cleared his throat and tried to comfort you.

“listen…”

hidetoshi got up from his seat, walking towards you, as he spoke.

“i can only imagine what this must be like. to love someone and not being able to be with them, even though your heart is aching for it…”

hidetoshi knew exactly what he was talking about. there was nobody that knew more about this than him. he had been longing to be with you for months.

as he stepped closer, you rose from your seat as well. hidetoshi stopped in front of you and the two of you stared at each other, as he continued to speak.

“but i know that it'll get better with time. eventually, your feelings will fade. and it'll stop hurting…”

hidetoshi was a liar. his feelings never faded. it never stopped hurting. and it seemed like neither did your hurting stop.

“does it truly stop hurting? it feels like things only ever get worse with time. the longer we're apart, the worse it gets…”

“didn't you say you only broke up a few days ago? i'm sure that with time–”

“i– i'm talking about someone else right now…”

the two of you went silent. for a moment, a thought crossed hidetoshi's mind. but he didn't dare say it out loud.

“that… someone else…”

as he tried to speak, he found himself at a loss for words. that certainly was a first. he could win any debate with ease, but when it came to you, he never knew what to say. you were unlike anyone he ever met.

“there was someone, that i thought i could forget. i thought, if i got into a relationship, i could forget about them. but you were wrong. my feelings never faded…”

hidetoshi remained silent for a moment, getting lost in your eyes. there was so much emotion in just your eyes alone. you looked at him with such intensity, that he couldn't help himself. suddenly, his hands had cupped your cheeks and his lips were pressed against yours.

the kiss only lasted a second, before hidetoshi pulled away. mortified of what he had done. you were opening up to him and he had taken advantage of your vulnerability.

“i– i don't know what came over me–! that was highly unprofessional and as a member of the student council, i shouldn't hav– mmppf–!”

before hidetoshi could register what had happened, you had grabbed him by the tie and pulled him back into the kiss. this time, it lasted longer than just a second. way longer. after what felt like an eternity, hidetoshi pulled away from you again. he was panting, his tie hanging loosely around his neck and his cheeks were red.

“i– i don't think… i quite understand…”

hidetoshi was a smart guy. but after that kiss, he couldn't think straight anymore. all he could think about were your soft lips. why you'd kiss him was something he couldn't fathom.

“that someone i tried to forget… i was talking about you, hidetoshi”

“o-oh…”

your words didn't quite sink in, until a few seconds later. despite just having kissed twice, hidetoshi somehow struggled to believe you were genuinely interested in him.

“oooh–! that means–”

but when it finally sunk in, his cheeks slowly turned red and an uncharacteristically giddy smile spread over his lips.

“i-i see… well, in that case…”

he took a deep breath, straightening his tie and trying to present himself from his best side. after all, he was about to say something very important.

“if you'd allow me… i'd love to take you on a date! the truth is… i've liked you too. no, i like you! and while i couldn't tell you the first time around, i do not wish to waste my second chance with you…”

"I don't understand why you care so much about materia. The only thing you're doing is annoying everyone and embarrassing us."

Your words cut into Yuffie like a knife. Sure she was use to your nasty attitude but for you to come after her materia love is a low she never thought you would stoop too.

You glared at her with narrow eyes, daring her to make a comment. Yet the ninja only air-fought you before turning away to walk along with the other members.

Standing back you watched as Yuffie when from furious with you back to her normal cheerful self. You're eyes rolled at the change before reluctantly following the group out of the Gongaga jungle.

For the next several days, your entire relationship with Yuffie consisted of that kind of talk.

Yuffie would say something that annoyed you, while you made it perfectly clear how you felt about her word. She would then respond in kind before pretending the fight you and running off to be with the other group members.

In combat however, you're synergy was top notch. Whenever the ninja used her Ninjutsu you would combo with Faith, give her a boost to help weaken the enemy. Attacking along side her so her quick attacks countered your normal ones.

It was that fact that made your rude outbursts more confusing to now only Yuffie herself, but the entire group.

One moment you defeat a fiend just the two of you, next you berate her for a insignificant mistake she make earlier.

The entire situation make Yuffie more and more angry

"Retreat! We need to fall back and regroup." Cloud instructed the group before make a beeline for the trees. Once everyone got out of sight, Cloud instantly began devising a plan to defeat the formidable foe.

After a few moments of getting the plan of attack fully together, everyone understood their roles and began the assault.

Once the fiends hit the ground with a cloud of dirt surrounding it, everyone let out a sigh of relief and a few cheers, only to be interrupted by a loud, worrisome scream.

"Are you okay, Yuffie?" Aerith's soft voice cut though the previous outburst.

"No! I lost my materia. I guess I dropped it while we were running." The ninja began patting herself down. Checking all her pockets, empty materia slots, pouch, and even her arm guard. Yet couldn't find a single mako filled orb.

Each member took some time to search the surrounding area, including the battle grounds and the area you retreated too, only to come up empty.

After the search - everyone walked away, hoping to give the wutaian some time to cope.

Everyone left, except for you. Who stood directly in front of her.

"What? Come to rub it in." Her snarky comment was expected, yet it didn't falter you decision.

Without a word, you held out your closed hand palm side down. Yuffie who was rightfully suspicious glanced between your closed hand and your neutral face. In response, you only narrowed your eyes and slowly began retracting your physical offer.

Upon seeing your action, Yuffie instantly placed both of her hands underneath yours, while looking up with an expecting look on her face.

As soon as the orb hit her palm, her excitement rose sky high as the realization hit her. Her back turned towards you as the shorter female began examining her newly acquired materia.

After the initial shock and excitement wore out, Yuffie turned back to you in an attempt to thank you. Only to find you have already walked away and rejoined the others in conversation, as if nothing happened.
