So! Tomorrow my novella comes out!
Which is just wild to think about. I'm so excited I don't know what to do with myself?
But I do know what I'm doing tomorrow! I'm doing a digital release party at 5:30pm PST, over on my twitch! I'm gonna do a reading, a Q&A, maybe play some silly fun games, and do a giveaway or two, too.
I've love if you could come!
(and if you can't come but wanna talk about the novella, or my writing in general, maybe check out my discord server?)

it really was a fascinating move for baldur's gate 3 to get up on stage and declare completely unprompted that every single gnome in the world is gay

Listen. it's about love, actually.
I’m thinking about loyalty and what that means in a lawless land a little too hard boys

The fall from hopeful revolutionary to prison labourer is a hard one. Fer's world has shrunk from the whole damn universe to this anonymous asteroid and the four other convicts who share it with them. It's a fitting end, for someone who used to wish on stars but now can only seem to collect endings.
My first novella, TWICE SPENT COMET, is coming out December 3rd of 2024!
If you like space mermaids and found families, you might want to check this one out~
(and if you read an older version of this story, it is now about twice as long and so much better. reworking this was a lesson in healing, for me. i'm so excited and also so nervous for it to enter the world... i cannot wait to hear what you all think)

This magazine is a gorgeous collection of queer fantasy and such, and I happen to appear in their spring issue!
'a love story in stolen items' is a flash piece about some genderfucky sapphic thieves, because i am who i am.
If you're in need of some queer joy today, go check the whole issue out.

BEHIND THE SUN, ABOVE THE MOON, a nonbinary space magic anthology, comes out in less than a month, so I thought I would share my story’s first few lines with you.
I cannot wait for this incredible anthology to be out in the world.
[image is a screenshot of the following text:
In the beginning, before Humans had claimed the stars as their own, they held hands as they watched lights streak across the sky and called it Magic.
Magic, as everyone knows, must be Spoken and Heard and Believed, and so it was so, that stars were Magic, and those that fell especially so.
Sometimes, the beginning of stories are just as simple as that.

I got excited about BEHIND THE SUN, ABOVE THE MOON (a nonbinary space magic anthology) being out next month thought I’d do a little ‘meet the crew’ for the characters in my short story, twice-spent comet!
FER.
our protagonist
they/them pronouns
20-something (doesn’t know own age)
in asteroid jail
collects story endings
bad at letting people in
good at creating slogans for a rebellion
believes in things in spite of themself... magic, wishing on stars, a family they find and fight for
MOLL.
she/her pronouns (trans woman)
40-something
in asteroid jail too
has an illegal tattoo gun hidden in her fake leg
also, tats everywhere
everyone who meets her falls in love with her tbh
mom friend
sometimes the real space crimes are the partners you meet along the way
BENAT.
she/her pronouns (cis lesbian)
also in asteroid jail
too young for a life sentence
moony kid, weird accent
almost lost an arm once (it’s a long story)
messenger pigeon of a person
a murder plot is something that can actually be so personal
fell in love once, never recovered
RACK.
he/him pronouns (trans guy)
the last of the asteroid jail crew
just a kid
stole his own lungs and is very proud of it
space shuttle brat (born in space, never looks back)
4’3” of I am here to cause problems on purpose
accepts his role as younger brother (and relishes it, honestly)
OPHELIA.
space mermaid
was a scientist, once
tells good stories
loves her family
loves being made up of stars and the space between
loves to love to love to love
believes in happy endings
QUARTER JONES.
she/her/he/him pronouns
an artist
a revolutionary
too far away, wherever you are
a good captain, once upon a time
has the coolest name of any character I’ve ever written, honestly
twice-spent comet’s pitch is “On an isolated asteroid, Fer serves out their sentence with a found family of ramshackle criminals. Life takes an exciting turn when they befriend Ophelia, a beautiful humanoid creature with a tail like a comet.”
If you like the looks of the crew, consider giving the anthology a read when it comes out! The whole book is very, very good.

BEHIND THE SUN, ABOVE THE MOON is a non-binary space magic anthology, and it now it has a cover!
My story, twice-spent comet, is probably one of the best short stories I’ve written. Here’s a blurb:
On an isolated asteroid, Fer serves out their sentence with a found family of ramshackle criminals. Life takes an exciting turn when they befriend Ophelia, a beautiful humanoid creature with a tail like a comet.
...it’s space mermaids, y’all.
It’s out on February 24th, 2020. Add it on Goodreads. Pre-order it here.

It's the end of the month, which means I've posted another short story on Patreon!
This month, we get to see Beatrice again, this time making friends while at work (and we're very proud of her for that). You get to see more of Krys, the succubus, and meet Rand!
(I really think you're going to like them, they've got a great smile)

Sometimes you and your zombie boyfriend just need to cuddle in a haunted house for a bit.
Etienne watches his boyfriend tear around their small apartment, and tries to keep the smile off of his face.
It’s not that he enjoys Jake’s panic. It’s just that this scene is such a familiar one. Jake, with his big plans and his days-long excitement over this surprise, missing a key element at the crucial moment. Etienne, who used to panic if there was even the slightest risk of being late to something, is so gone on this boy that he watches the clock tick past two and finds it nothing but endearing.
“Want help, babe?” He asks, voice relaxed in the safety of their apartment.
Jake shakes his head, takes a moment to look up at Etienne and wink.
“Nah, you stay right there, gorgeous. I’ll just be another sec, I swear.”
Etienne nods, his sluggish pulse still managing to pink his cheeks, because even after six years, Jake’s compliments hit home. He settles in to waiting, content in the moment.
These two are Etienne and Jake, who are part of the ensemble cast of That Old Fairground, a collection of stories following the monsters of a haunted house. It’s all about the queer found family in this one, folks.

It’s been a while!
Summer for me was new concussion, recovery, then work every day. And since September started, I’ve been to Boston (PENUMBRA LIVE SHOW) and just finished selling my books at a con for the first time in Portland! (Rose City Comicon!)
SO it’s been rather wild!
Gonna be more active on here, not just because I’m about to have time but ALSO because I’ve got some really cool things that will be coming out in the new year! I’m talking HORROR and TIME TRAVEL and SPACE MERMAIDS. All in early 2020.
For now, I wanna say thanks to folks who have followed me recently (I think most of you are from RCCC, so dang you fast, thanks!)! Love you all!
