This is the comic i made for the johndave fanzine that was released a while ago. I never posted it, because to me it felt like I had fallen flat on my face with this one, but I think there are some aspects of this that I can appreciate. 

It is based on the lazy days on the water that me and my family have spent together. You can read the rest of it here.

Summary:  “Aw come on, John, you weren’t supposed to get out of bed,” Dave says, a tinge of a whine to his voice. He pushes his sunglasses up with what seems to be the only remaining clean part of his hand. “What the fuck kind of anniversary is this if you don’t let me cook for you?”

finally get to post this… my piece for the johndave fanzine. i tried to make it look like john was putting the shades on dave but boy did that not work at all

All things go, all things grow.

(“Hey, it’s Dave. Just letting you know I’ll be shooting in Washington soon—place in Des Moines, has the cast all buzzed. Or tired of movin’ around, I dunno. Anyway, uh, we’re gonna be up there for a few weeks, starting September 15th, and I was wondering if you…”)

You can’t believe you’re doing this.

Your chest felt tight up to the hour you were supposed to meet him. You fussed over your hair, your face, a persistent smudge on your glasses, despite feeling a slight numbness in your fingertips. You zoned out driving down Route 18 until you were somewhat startled back into reality, suddenly wondering why you were making the half hour trip to see your ex-boyfriend that you haven’t spoken to in twenty years.
