Dev Log - 10/14/24
"Oh man I should really continue working on my game! How long has it been?"
Tumblr media
"...wait it's been 4 months?" Anyways, hello! It's been a long time since I updated you all on how I'm doing with this project, so here is my little update. First of all, I've gone back and forth on Unity and Godot for a few months now. I have more experience with Unity, I prefer Godot and want to leave Unity, but I have more progress with Unity, but the progress I have isn't even that much so let's just restart, you get the idea. So there isn't a huge game play update on Project River, as I've moved it to the back burner. I'm instead taking this time to work on small games for various game jams, and give myself the experience in Godot that I'm looking for. Right now I'm participating in a local game jam and the Scream Jam. Very excited to show off both of those projects. I should have lots of updates in the near future, so please stay tuned.

Dev Log - 6/30/24
Hello! It's been a bit longer since our last update, but we have a ton of news to share!
First, an update on the team. What originally started as a small group, has now gone down to a solo dev, so hello everyone! I have no ill will towards anyone else, and wish them all the best.
Second, an engine change. I originally wanted to make this game using the Godot game engine, however for the purpose of our game we've found that the Unity game engine is better suited for our needs. While I would prefer to work with open source software, I have more experience with Unity and it's frame work, and can hit the desired deadline using this engine, along with finishing all of other goals.
With that said, I have some pre-(pre-)alpha game play ready to show off, along with some mechanics that are in progress!
Tumblr media
Is this anything special? No, not even close. It's a block with stairs and a borderline copyright infrigement from Mojang. But it's progress!
Tumblr media
The first version of the revolver is in the game. It's currently a block that shoots out ovals, but hey, that's what 2 weeks of development looks like.
Tumblr media
I've also added weapon swapping through the scroll wheel, which should make iterating upon much easier (hi future me where that didn't happen, I'm so sorry)
That's all for this update. Thank you everyone for the continued support, it's greatly appreciated. I hope the last day of pride is going well, and I can't wait to update you all again

Dev Log - 6/9/24
Hello! This is the second dev log for the development of Project River. While we would love to show off something flashier, we unfortunately have nothing like that this week. We've spent the last week working on a game design doc and some initial character art. We have a variety of different art styles and concept art that we're debating on internally, so nothing is ready to be publicly shown. The goal of this update was to be transparent with where we are in the development process and keep the communication between player and developers as open as possible, no matter how big or small the player base is.
That's it for this update, thank you all for reading. Happy Pride!!

Dev Log - 6/1/24
Hello! This is the first dev log for the development of a game we're internally calling Project River for now. Project River is a western boomer shooter, set at the end of the wild west and towards the beginning of the first world war. Further details are still up in the air, but beginning work on this project is so exciting! The goal is to have weekly updates and Dev Logs, so please stay tuned! Happy Pride everyone!
