As Orktober draws to a close I thought I'd share the bulk of my ork collection. My least painted most insurmountable feeling grey pile.

A couple of test models and a couple of decent ebay-specials in the mix but golly is that a lot of grey grey plastic.

So please enjoy my odd assortment of ork boyz and grots, in chronological release order.

But hey, at least the Dreadnought's looking good!

Finally finished my rather beat up 2nd-hand Myphitic Blight-Hauler. He might be a bit less spiky than his daemon engine brothers, but he still brings just as much destructive power to bear. And was no less of a joy to paint! Bringing my fully painted Black Legion models to um... Three. Hopefully my kit-bashed plague marines seen previously will join the club shortly.

Busted out the ol' 3D printer to make myself some texture rollers for my various miniature projects. I have to say I'm extremely impressed with the results. Below the cut some closeups of both roller and unpainted test pieces plus the sources for the stl's of these three rollers.

Some kitbashed Death Guard I started yonks ago have finally seen some glue. Made up mostly from the ‘Dark Imperium’ mono-pose plague marines as well as the three push fit lads. Plus a few additions from the now OOP possessed and the regular Death Guard box, not to mention some classic chaos backpacks and Chaos Warrior helmets. Plague Marines WIP (2 / 3)

Test models I did in planning my itsy bitsy Death Guard force.  As you can likely tell, most never got past 60% finished. Much as I loved some of the ideas, like the oozing blood or gem carapace they just weren’t quite practical for more than one model. In the end I settled on the top guy in his modified Black Legion colours, keeping things simple and effective. And allowing me to mix and match some other chaos boys in with them down the line to boot. Plague Marines WIP (1 / 3)

Big Bug

Big bug aka Tyranid Prime. Painted with a glossy ‘xenomorph’ colour scheme. Eagle eyed viewers will also notice one of those scything talons actually originates from the ancient metal chaos spawn.

Retro Space Marine

A technically incomplete test model for my now abandoned Blood Angels successor chapter scheme. Turns out painting a crisp white right next to a bright red over and over is not fun. Now I’m just doing normal Blood Angels like a sane person.

A definitely normal Blood Angels Predator. 

A de-chaosed predator I converted for my Blood Angels a while ago. Complete with some Green stuff press molded Sanguinary Guard icons.

Nolzur’s Iron Golem

This was a really rather fun chunky model to paint. Only issue was his very bent sword which I ended having to snip off. I don’t think a huge animated pile of metal needs a sword anyway.

Drizzt’s here

A quite nice figure that came with the Nolzur’s Underdark paint set I got as a birthday present sometime ago. Made of a really rather nice soft plastic similar to reaper bones. I attempted to paint him entirely with the paints in the kit, which worked okay until the only green in it was ‘putrid slime’. I had to call in reinforcements but still a fun challenge nonetheless. Oh also the paints in the kit come in adorable half size little dropper bottles.
