beta red by @ranilla-bean (ao3 Link) for this years @zukkabigbang2024 event. its truly a beautiful fic. Keeping you on your toes while reading. making you worry about sokka exposed to the whims of nature and zuko, all alone.

some more notes:

zuko never laughs at sokka's jokes. but if they're really funny, he'll stare at sokka with a deceptively neutral expression for an uncomfortable length of time. this is the external manifestation of the butterflies in his stomach

they've been dating for over a year but sokka still doodles the initials "ZS" in different fonts on post-its and leaves them all over the place for zuko to find (in his coat pockets, tucked in his laptop, in his shoe, on the laundry machine)

people are constantly hitting on zuko in public, which stresses him out, and he responds by pointing sokka out in the crowd and identifying him as his boyfriend very loudly and obnoxiously

sokka goes to many, many events and parties because he knows everyone in town and is friends with all of them. zuko literally never accompanies him. they are both content with this.

sokka's friends were worried zuko would be a playboy due to how incandescently hot he is, until they learned how much baseline disdain he has for every person he encounters and how off-putting this makes him to be around

zuko gets grumpy if he's lying in bed and sokka isn't there to drape his leg over or bite

sokka always, without fail, makes a dreamy, lovestruck expression whenever zuko is brought up in conversation, regardless of how long they've been dating, who else is involved in the conversation, and the reason zuko was brought up in the first place

have been thinking. about extremely hot, model zuko. who hates leaving his house and talking to people. and ray of sunshine, extrovert sokka who charms enough people for the both of them. and they are obsessed with each other.

“Oh,” he hears Sokka say, and winces. This was such a stupid idea. And Sokka’s definitely wide awake now. “Huh. I mean, that’s like...collecting data straight from the source, right?”

Zuko glances up and sees Sokka with his hands on his hips, face scrunched up in thought. “That’s exactly what I mean,” Zuko says.

More of the Social Media AU: these chats here are happening during season 1. Note the icons at the top - the left overlaying one tells you who started the DM.

The Agni Kai button is an inherent feature of this social media site hosted by the Fire Nation, the only one in the world so unfortunately everyone's on FlameBlr(?) The button starts a chat battle that's livestreamed. That's not shown here but I heard Zhao is almost always live. Idk.

As many people said, all public posts are automatically deleted after 24 h to prevent flame wars getting out of control. It's a very toxic social media site!
