YES, THANK YOU
I think a lot of people, either seriously or jokingly, in the "this bat should be batman, not Terry next" debate don't get that that's the entire point of Terry McGinnis. In other cases, they're right, he wouldn't be Batman because he's from a universe that everything went wrong.
Bruce Wayne is a bitter, broken old man and successfully pushed everyone away or those he cared about died, or don't exist here, Gotham crumbles around him and he's crumbling too! Do you think in any other universe the Manor and Cave would be so under protected a random teen walks in and walks out with an entire Batsuit?
In a world when there ARE the others, they don't or won't let Bruce push them away, there's friends and allies to spare and pick up the slack, Batman as a Mantle is firmly squared away and a good number of villains are either retired, reformed, or dead. Even if Terry did come to exist, a rebellious kid lashing out would have never been able to make it near the manor, let alone a Batcave full of Vigilantes to steal a suit.
And that's why it's fascinating, why Terry is so fascinating! Because Terry, and Terry as Batman, is the sum of a failing Gotham, a failing Batman, a failing Bruce, with a sliver of hope left that ended up rising instead of falling.
Plus, he's an utterly different type of Batman and fills the role in a different way than Bruce did. He had Legacy of course but lacked the personal connection to feel like he was filling very specific, very heavy shoes like Dick was, and let's be honest, Terry would never be anything BUT his own version of Batman.
I'm sure you can find a way to make a version of Batman Beyond Terry in a universe where the extended batman DOES exist in a way that makes sense, and many have, but id love for how event shaped up for him to even become Batman and how that affects him as batman to be explored more. Specially in stories where he travels dimensions and meet this new Batman for it to be less funny/annoying this "random" kid is batman when they learn why he's Batman, ya know?

Terry as a random citizen honestly works so much more in my opinion, because it lets him embody what The Batman is in a way none of the Wayne Family can.
Despite taking on the mantle from Bruce, he’s not Bruce’s heir in the same way someone like Dick would be, because him being Batman honestly has nothing to do with Bruce, its just a means to an end for Terry.
Bruce’s children see the mantle as a weight that they might have to bear.
Terry stole the Batsuit without a moment’s hesitation, and thats the difference.
I HAVE SOMETHING BATMAN RELATED I WANT TO TALK ABOUT!
*SLAMS HANDS ON TABLE*
TERRY MCGINNIS.
I’ve been ruminating on the twist they threw in at the end of all Batman Beyond related content—if you didn’t already know, now you do—Terry is related to Bruce because of DNA tampering/cloning/random shenanigans/whatever. Someone else can explain it in the comments. THIS tidbit of information has made people have opinions about it, I have discovered. Some people really like it (more BatFam, yay!) and some people really hate it (it was pointless, it was obvious, it cheapens Terry’s story, etc.) I found this interesting.
I, myself, am not sure where I fall in all of this entirely. I don’t hate it… but I do find the whole “you had a secret relative this whole time because reasons” thing to be one of the most lacklustre and played out tropes of this century, made all the more poignant by the fact that… Damian… Conner Kent… Evil Impulse… Damian’s brother… Dick’s half-sister… Barbara’s brother… and Lincoln March are already chilling in the DC universe, to name a few. Like, this is a very short and incomplete list of all the characters who do this trope. So, in that regard, I think I would like to see something just a liiiiiiiittle more creative…
But so, that begs the question: keep Terry a random civilian? Make him Bruce’s actual son? Make him Bruce’s grandson? Cass or Damian’s son perhaps? Idk. Your thoughts?

A serious (and seemingly obvious) problem with the implementation of the Online Safety Act is that it requires malicious actors to not exist.
Since the UK govenment in any form hates paying for things, especially things required for their goals, the current situation is that websites have to work out to do age verification themselves. There is no government-approved or provided service for this - it's a free-for-all of third-party verification providers.
Now, some people are pointing out that depending on how these companies handle the data given to them to perform verification, it's possible this data could be stolen or leaked. This is a worrying possibility. This danger is primarily one of passive incompetence, although if your driver's licence gets leaked, you won't be happy either way.
But passive incompetence probably isn't going to hurt anyone before active malice does.
Normalising showing your face or identity documents to random websites is an incredibly stupid thing to do. You know who benefits from this? Actual criminals! Phishing attacks continue to be successful because people will put their banking details into websites that are very much not their banks. And while random websites asking for your banking details is suspicious, the OSA makes it so that random websites asking for your driver's license or passport or other such things will now be expected.
Meaning an enterprising criminal can set up a website, stick a fake age verification pop-up on it, and harvest a whole bunch of things that come in useful for committing identity theft. Or blackmail perhaps.
The overall point here is that in this respect, the Online Safety Act is going to make the internet more dangerous, in a way that should be obvious if you actually think about the potential negative consequences.

Sam Reich, in multiple interviews and media in 2024: “I can’t invite my friends anywhere because they’re always suspicious it’s a surprise Game Changer episode.”
Meanwhile, he had THREE CAST MEMBERS in the middle of a YEAR-LONG GAME CHANGER EPISODE while he was saying this.

hey. listen. when you use too much detergent in your laundry you aren't making your clothes cleaner, you are making them degrade faster. the machine isn't able to rinse out the entire cup of soap you put in, so some of it is left in the fibers of your clothes. when they dry this makes the fabric stiffer and more brittle, so the fibers are more likely to erode and break. over time this makes your clothes wear out much faster than if they were properly rinsed with minimal soap. you are wasting money by overusing detergent, not just on the detergent itself but the clothes you are shortening the lifespan of.

Thinking about Oryx, and his relationship to parenthood, and how important that fact is to him as a deity, to the point that its explicitly listed as one of the things he must never betray, just as much a part of his divinity as The First Navigator, and The Taken King.
“You must obey your nature forever. In your immortality, Aurash, you may never cease to explore and inquire, for the sake of your children. In your immortality, Xi Ro, you may never cease to test your strength. In your immortality, Sathona, you may never abandon cunning.”
And Oryx just fascinates me, because he really does just spend so much time picking up new kids.
He sired two daughters, and two sons.
He claimed a third son from his cunning sister, and has a foster son in the form of the Darkblade.
Thalnok litterally pretended to be Crota to Oryx, and his only response was “free son.”
Through this lens, Heresy is so funny to me, because everyone was taking Oryx’s dialogue as flirting, when guys, he’s trying to adopt you—
What do you think he means when he’s calling you his heir—

If Oryx keeps giving me and other people these cool titles and descriptions, I'm going to have to ask for his hand in marriage.
