I will never forgive DC for erasing Crystal Brown from Stephanie's storyline in N52. Like, Stephanie has a home, Stephanie has a loving mother and I am sick of the idea that she lives with the Waynes. I LOVE CRYSTAL BROWN CHAT!!!!!!!! Crystal Brown, who got sober and left her abusive husband. Crystal Brown, who became a nurse to support her and her daughter. Crystal Brown, who helped Stephanie with the decision about her baby.

Crystal Brown, who knew about her daughter's life as Spoiler and was proud of her for stopping her father. Crystal Brown, who grieved her daughter. Crystal Brown, who defended her daughter against Black Mask and encouraged her as she beat up her ex-boyfriend. Crystal Brown, who had her bad moments but ultimately became a better person for her daughter.

many posts going around about female characters and their recognition on tumblr… so i wanted to talk a little bit abt dc women (and bc this is a tim/bats blog — i’m talking specifically about cass and babs and steph)

they are given so much emotional depth, compassion, and presence in the earlier comics — that’s what makes me love them so much!! like they fuck up and learn and just exhibit incredible strength and will. this complexity and care nowadays is replaced with just. blatant infantilization and blandness.

to see them have so much power in the comics and to have them so brutally lost that in the canon since the 2010s is so sad and legitimately painful. and it’s all the more frustrating to see this same ineptitude and absence reproduced by fans who claim to be making a “better version of canon” with them always still missing!! it um. sucks ass, for uh. lack of a better term…

people who use wfa as canon pls do not argue with me 🙏🙏 i like wfa its a cute little break FROM canon but do not use it AS canon. and the fact that the current batman writers are trying to make it canon with the pennyworth mansion is terrible. pls i miss when dick grayson had a life outside of batman?? wasn’t that like his whole thing when he became nightwing?? also why is steph there?? she had a mom and a home, she is not a batkid, bruce is not a father figure to her. the whole thing is just confusing, hate the pennyworth mansion arc just give us alfred back and we will be good. no one want wfa in canon, i want them to be messy and be able to live apart from one another.

I have so many thoughts about Jason Todd as a character. And I think he is and has the potential to be one of the most complex characters in DC but they just keep fumbling the bag. And that's not to say he isn't complex already, I just think that DC and certain fans are trying to push Jason into this role that he can't fill because of the fact that they think of him as a mix of Dick and Tim rather than just himself. ANYWAYS, that being said, I love Juni Ba's Jason <3 and I love that it came out on my birthday Guys, I am so normal about Jason Todd. Please, DC, let me write for Jason Todd.

I know the fandom likes to portray Willis Todd as an awful, abusive man, but to be honest, I think Jason's story is so much more tragic (and subversive) if Willis was a loving father. Think about it, a man trying to put food on the table for his son and sickly wife, but only able to make money through illegitimate means because his criminal record or lack of education has every legal job denying him. On one of his jobs he gets sent to prison, leaving his wife and son to fend for themselves. Taking as many jobs as he can in prison so he can send money to his family. Finding out his wife died. Not knowing if Jason is okay, if he is even still alive. Learning that, somehow, his son was adopted by a billionaire and just... not contacting him. Wanting so badly to see his son again, but feeling that Jason didn't want to see him, or that it might hurt him and the life he's found. Just a look at Willis Todd as a person trapped by the system, trying to give his son a good life, despite the world being against them.
