Sometimes when I hear about the inevitable, devastating impact of climate change, I just totally shut down and stop caring about anything I do because there’s no way for us to prevent it, from everything I’ve read. Is it wrong to feel this way? Since I’m only 20, there’s a good chance I’ll be in a front row seat of watching the world collapse. Voting for the right people might help offset it by like, a month or two. Is it wrong to just say “we’re fucked” and give up?

hey what the fuck
I went to bed with a Togepi band-aid on my left thumb. I woke up this morning and the band-aid was now on my right pointer.

Calling all Fish Folk!
Is there any safe way to reduce nitrates without doing a massive water change? My tank (75 USGal) chemistry has been out of whack for a while and I've managed to bring the pH closer to safer levels, ammonia is close to zero, and there’s no nitrates. However, my nitrates are at 80ppm and it’s extremely worrying. I know it sounds like I’m being neglectful but I’m trying very hard to make sure things can get better.
I have done the following:
- Add living plants to water
- Stopped using slow-degrading food
- Cleaned the filter (Big filter rated for 150~ USGal, with ammonia rocks and big charcoal baggies)
And I haven’t introduced any fish since the die-off a couple months ago thanks to me being an absolute fuckhead. I’m very worried that my fish are suffering and I want them to be healthy again.
Also, if a big water change should be done, I have no issue with that, it’s more an issue of time (thanks to work) more than anything. To add to that, please recommend me safe water to add to the tank to avoid shocking my fish with dangerous pH changes.
@justnoodlefishthings you’re the only fishblr blog i follow but if anyone can help it’d be greatly appreciated.

have you ever seen the little leaf sheep nudibranch?,, it literally looks like an artichoke with a marshmallow in the front
Tumblr media
OHHH NO, OHHHHOHOH NO i cant BELIEVE this is a real animal and not a cartoon character from some pixar short
its real name is the costasiella kuroshimae, and theyre actually not nudibranches, but closely related sacoglossan sea slugs that feed on algea  .… .. .. .   . like … .. sheep
Tumblr media
they were discovered off the coast of the yaeyama islands in japan, and theres not actually a lot known about em - a few members of the sacoglossa branch have the ability to steal chloroplasts from algea the eat and add it to their own bodies in a Really Unusual process called kleptoplasty, which might account for their vivid green color ?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
either way theyre only 4.5 mm long and all they want to do is move super slowly and eat. a true hero among us
