I keep thinking about this wrt being the major point of divergence between spe!Green and game!Green's personalities
Like, you have spe!Green being so much more calm and collected than game!Green - well, moreso in RGB/Y/GSC than FRLG, but i digress - and I think that this is why he can be. This Green has more of his own identity and sense of self because of his experience living apart from the Professor and his influence.
Game!Green, meanwhile, was raised in Pallet Town the whole time - so he never left that environment where all of his accomplishments were written off as just a product of him being Professor Oak's grandson. That, combined with constantly being compared to Red by said grandfather, is a recipe for insecurity and a damaged sense of self-worth
Which i think is why, even when spe!Green's at his most hotheaded in FRLG arc, he's still unshakably confident and self-assured - this is the root of a bit of conflict he has with Red in that arc, while Red's having his identity crisis. Meanwhile, game!Green has a lot of dialogue in GSC/HGSS and in Masters that points to him being (or at least having been) pretty depressed and aimless (before settling in eventualy as a mentor figure.)
It's food for thought, anyway.

Everyone knows that pokéspe regularly says screw gender roles but i feel like the fact they gave the guy the 💞pink one with flowers 🌷 and they gave the girl a green blob was an underrated move and very iconic

Been thinking about it and I feel like these two would absolutely be best friends if they were to ever meet each other.
-Both extremely snarky teenage boys. Seriously, you can swap out any of Neku’s lines/inner thoughts for Percy and it would fit just as well. ("Hello, dead kid speaking." "Is it true steroids can shrink your... nevermind." "The pig moves on its own? What if it's possessed - waiting to pork-chop us in the back of the head?")
-Have suffered memory loss at some point
-Both are extremely loyal to their friends/loved ones. Neku was willing to go through another week of hell for Shiki, to the point that he put up with Joshua’s multiple layers of gaslighting and vibe bullshit just to do so while Percy quite literally goes to hell in order to try and save Annabeth.
-One of the most powerful psychics/demigods in their respective series, with Neku being able to use every pin he comes across thanks to his high Imagination and Percy being a son of one of the Big Three.
-Became regarded as legends in their sequels due to their accomplishments and at the same time are surprisingly humble about it, not putting much stock in the amazing feats they’ve actually done.
-In spite of everything their foils had done to them and other, they still trusted them to do the right thing in the end (Neku not shooting Joshua and Percy giving Luke the knife)
-Both have a habit of changing their companions for the better and end up taking on big brother roles.
-Both almost choked out someone at one point (Percy almost did it twice lmao)
-Both turned down godhood to go back to their female companions
-Both female companions have interests related to creating something (Shiki with sewing/fashion, Annabeth with architecture)

Some people legit want to tell you that NEO TWEWY has bad gameplay or isn’t as in-depth as the original.
Those people are wrong.

In addition, in the first game, he was always (understandably) prone to going into a panic when things seem wrong at a glance, to the point that Neku had to calm him down from going off into a frenzy and potentially tripping himself over in response to what’s happening.

In NEO, this is flipped. Now he’s the one who helps the party to keep calm and lift their spirits up when things are going to hell and his emotional intelligence really gets to shine here, as he (correctly) surmises that the Shibuya Reapers won’t just leave things as they are.

And shown with Fret’s situation with Kanon/his fight with Rindo, he knows when to hang-back from a situation and to let people air their grievances out in a way that can help them potentially come to terms with things/cope better. He’ll be there to support but won’t strongarm.

He’s watching his friend make a last-ditch effort to save the woman he admires the most, but they know it’s a lost cause. He knows he’s about to watch Fret fail but he still knows he needs to let him try, to let him have one last moment of hope and it’s incredibly mature of him. His talk with Fret afterwards the next day also helps too as he doesn’t try any bullshit like telling Fret to cheer up and acknowledges that he’s hurting but that he has to keep going for Kanon’s sake and to never forget her.

there’s no horror greater than experiencing a sequel to any sort of media ( game, movie, show, etc. ) and seeing how badly they fucked up The Character and wrote them so bad . who is that what have you done to them

With all due respect, THIS was Beat from the first game:

In addition to the above scenes, this is the same guy who:
- Forgot what the Reaper Sports are after just one week, leading to him and Neku chasing after NPCs instead of Uzuki on a whole goose chase on Week 3, Day 3.
- Took Neku’s phone that takes photos of the past that has a three shot per day limit and immediately wastes all of it. It’s only through sheer luck that one of that actually catches Hanekoma putting away a key, thus giving them the hint to the Shibuya River.
In NEO, he’s actually consistently shown to be a lot more on the ball and figures a lot of things on his own, before anyone else, either because he's privy to some info that the others can't know or actually asking the right questions.
Such as not being surprised at all when Tsugumi shows herself and the Ruinbringers to be Reapers…

Jumping on Kubo when he sees him to ask what the fuck is that thing about those new Player Pins dragging living people into the UG, on the Day where the team has to do without Rindo for riddles…

Cutting straight past Shoka’s walls because he suspects that there’s more going on than meets the eye and causing her to slip up…

And on Week 2 Day 6, when Rindo uses Replay to talk to Motoi (and informs Beat about Replay since up to there he didn't knew), and on the second iteration, when Rindo is about to go in with Fret to stop Shoka from attacking Motoi, BEAT is actually the one to stop him first and encourages them to think STRATEGICALLY before even Nagi chimes in.

And on the same day, he also cuts the knot by bringing the turf war boss of the Variabeauties so that they can take on the whole team and not lose time : he's actually the one offering the solution here.

So I don’t quite agree with this notion that Beat is dumbed down in NEO. If anything, there’s tons of examples to show that it’s quite the opposite, even if he still acts impulsive and hot-headed from time-to-time.

With all due respect, how did NEO fuck up Beat? Because if anything, it just reinforced him as one of my favorite characters in the series.

Remind me again, OP.
Which game introduced the concept of parallel dimensions, alternate planes of reality, and a cellphone that takes photos of the past, again?
Or entire hierarchy of celestial entities that decide the fate of multiple cities/realities whose existence is only really acknowledged in the Secret Reports?
Or was based off of Chain of Memories and shares several parallels with KH across the board?
Complaining that NEO is nothing but "Kingdom Hearts nonsense" while deliberately ignoring the many, MANY parallels the original TWEWY has with KH is just insanely funny to me.
Also, claiming that NEO doesn’t follow up on any of the themes the original has says more about you than the game itself because it just screams to me that you didn’t pay attention at all to what the game was saying.
I'm in the part of being deliriously sick that I'm gonna try to convince myself this is a good game again
