I read the chapter of the book that Charles asked me to, but we weren’t able to meet yesterday because he was still out of town. I’m going to see him tomorrow and we’ll see what’s up next!

This class wasn’t a frontend class; you learned to become full stack developers.

Reflection Post 2: Achieving the Course Goals
My own learning goals for this semester were to see how I feel about computer science and what I can do with coding. I also wanted to be able to make a Web- Mashup. As simple as it is, that was my goal. I have achieved this, which is very exciting to me. In my final IP, I used the Rotten Tomatoes API and I also used jsFiddle to manipulate an interactive d3.js graph. A semester ago, I wouldn’t have even known what any of this meant. I know that this semester has been very challenging for me, but I feel very good about working hard and remaining optimistic, and the progress that I have made.
The course learning goals I have mostly achieved. I can write code in Javascript that works, I understand how to use Web APIs to get data from different sources, I can use Meteor to make a web app, and I can make an interactive d3.js graph. I struggled a bit more with code reviews, because a lot of what I’ve learned means that the code itself is often pulled from different sources, and I was not always able to clearly understand other students’ code.
However, through this course I strengthened belief in myself to accomplish difficult tasks, and I believe this can be applied to any tough life situation, and is just as or even more valuable than any coding knowledge I acquired over the semester.
If I were to take the course again, I would’ve spent winter break learning basic CSS, HTML and Javascript so that I wouldn’t have had such a difficult time starting this class. I think I would’ve taken CS 110 before it, but besides that I think I did work that is the best of my capabilities and that my actual capacity to achieve grew, so that’s all I would change.
If this course is offered again, I think it would be really cool to work with the Instagram API, and make something new. I think instead of weekly AMs, it would be great to have more time to brainstorm and think of cooler, more in-depth projects to work on, maybe due every other week. But I definitely like the class set up and the course page and the way that our final exam is in person. That’s great, and nightly help rooms are wonderful too.
Thank you Eni for helping me believe in myself this semester! I am shocked that I have the capabilities of a full stack developer after only taking my first cs class this year.

Reflection Post 1: Team Project Presentation
It was very interesting to watch myself present with my team over video. Through this experience, I learned several interesting ways I could improve in the future. First of all, however, I believe my team and I did a nice job of dividing up the talking points and of being consistently loud enough, as well as making eye contact with the audience and speaking with a strong voice. I personally could definitely improve my posture, as well as working on stopping verbal mannerisms. Our pace was good, but we could smooth out our coordination a little bit when it comes to answering questions. I had a great experience working with my team and I am glad to have the chance to see what I can improve upon through watching this video.

Todo list update
My main responsibility in this group project is to get the Todo list to work, and it did!!!! ! Woohoo! !
Then we put the code altogether, and I needed Lee’s help to make it work - and now it does ! Praise Lee.
Diana and I made the powerpoint for our presentation, and it looks like it’s all coming together.

IP Feedback: Mood Playlist
I love this and want to use it right now - great idea!! I do think ‘mood’ can be a little difficult to quantify, so maybe tempo is a better way to go. Also, I’m curious as to what the interface will look like - pandora-esq? Regardless, looking forward to beta testing this! (let me, ok?)

IP Feedback: Red State/Blue State
Cool! I’m wondering - will you also have information for the kids to understand what Republics and Democrats usually believe in? Also, what will the graphic look like - an actual map? One more thing - what is the purpose of the leaderboard, do you mean it as a todo list where they can add items, or just the log in feature? Just some things to think about, great job!
