Fic where Steve comes back to school beat halfway to hell after the fight with Billy and Eddie keeps accidentally hurting him more.
Eddie tried to pull a piece of paper that’s stuck in his locker door out but pulls too hard. The paper rips, he falls back, and bumps Steve’s apparently very broken ribs.
Eddie flings his hands up dramatically to make a point. Hits Steve in his broken nose.
Eddie stomps down the bleachers after a pep rally. Steps on Steve’s hand.
Eddie pulls out of his parking spot. Hits Steve with his side mirror.
He’s not doing it on purpose. He’s swears! But now people are starting to think that Eddie is bullying Steve and that’s not a real good place to be for a freak. Some people think that he was the one to beat him up in the first place.
#Steve doesn’t even realize it’s Eddie every time#he’s just like: yeah someone might as well break my fingers under their giant boots. that’s where I’m at in life#Eddie’s going to make a big show of apologizing and send Steve into anaphylactic shock#who knew that some people were allergic to flowers!#steve harrington#eddie munson

"Bruce is allowed to have boundaries/not want to kill/Bruce shouldn't kill the Joker" -> yep fully agree no issue here
"it's so unreasonable of Jason to demand that of Bruce!" -> aaaaand you lost me.
The chronology of the last issues of Starlin's jaybin are absolutely crucial -a lot of people jump to UTH and assume they have the info on Jason's viewpoint but that's actually jumping in the middle of the story, it's missing so much context.
It goes like this:
-Jason, voluntarily or accidentally, directly or indirectly, causes the death of Felipe Garzonas. Nobody gonna weep.
-Actually, José Garzonas, Felipe's father, does have his grievances, and sets up a trap to kill Batman and Robin. After a fight scene of transcendental absurdity, Bruce climbs on an unstable pile of cars and when José shoots at him, the cars fall and kill José. Somehow this is Jason's fault. Bruce explains to Jason that it's the natural reaction of a father to his son's death to try to avenge him.
-Jason's relationship with Bruce is conflicted. He finds out that his birth mother isn't who he thought and leaves the country to look for her.
-Bruce hears about Jason leaving but goes to Africa for separate reasons and coincidentally finds Jason and helps him find his mom. Jason is hurt by the disappointment that Bruce isn't actually here for him.
-Jason immediately latches onto Sheila, not even bitter about having been abandoned, instead expressing immediate empathy, trust and affection towards her.
-Sheila betrays Jason, chooses the Joker over him after a stand off with guns in a warehouse and then they explode and both die.
-Jason comes back to life and finds out his father didn't kill/doesn't seem to attempt to kill Jason's murderer.
-> Jason sets up a confrontation between him and Bruce in a warehouse with a stand-off with guns and explosives rigged in the building.
So it's like, yeah, Bruce shouldn't be expected to kill the Joker. But it wasn't Jason who set that expectation: it was himself. And from Jason's perspective, it makes perfect sense.
(also would like to point out that in the final scene of UTH Jason isn't asking Bruce to kill the Joker okay byyye)

Honestly can’t stand finger-wagging at Jason fans. “Killing is bad!” Yeah so is surveillance, assault, intimidation (torture) and let’s not forget the Wayne fortune can’t have grown from a tree. Where I’m from violence is general is considered the worst answer you can come up with to a problem.
“It’s a story, you’re not supposed to be so literal”— oh so you’re allowed metaphor and allegory and I’m not? Your problematic fave is okay because you read Batman in a woke way, but that’s impossible for me?
#WE: the massive corporation that is definitely ethical in every way#(ignore how Duke’s dad’s construction company was put into jeapoardy because WE always outcompeted them#thanks to having the resources to be much cheaper#‘Jason’s way just leads to a cycle of violence’ what exactly do you think happened when Batman inspired a generation of supervillains#to subject Gotham to large-scale terrorism again and again to which he was the only apparent solution to#that wasn’t a cycle of violence?#fandom salt

According to old finnish folklore, having a wild animal wander into your house is an omen of death. The bigger the animal, the more imminent the death. A small bird, like a sparrow or a finch, is a sign that someone who lives in the house will die within the year. If the animal that has somehow made its way inside the house is a small mammal like a hedgehog, or a larger bird like an owl or raven, would mean that death is coming to visit in the next few months.
Massive megafauna, like a fully-grown moose or a bear, is a sign that someone will probably die within the next 20 minutes.

Jason Todd: Once, one of the Bat-Family's Greatest Characters
I LOVE Jason Todd.
This is a character I freaking adore.
For most characters it'll take more than just a couple stories for me to really like them beyond simply seeing the potential. But Jason, it took this one story (I read his other comics after the fact), and I knew I loved him. (I also watched the movie first, like almost everybody else.)
Because he's a rare character that showed off how far his potential could go all in one iconic story. This one story made The Red Hood iconic. That's power you can't easily create.
I think what made him so great though is often forgotten to time. Sometimes what made him great comes back, but there's enough times he's so...different, that I felt the need to make some posts about just how good he once was.
People think he's the hot-headed (which he can be, but it's vastly overplayed by some), doesn't take anything serious, lovable rough around the edges, big brother, jokes for the sake of joking, scamp of a character.
He is not.
He is...so much more.
Jason Todd is often portrayed as a freaking numb-skull. A risky idiot who rushes into things because he thinks it's fun.
Not who he is.
I think Jason Todd is one of the smartest characters in the entire Bat-Family.
He is a master fighter, a genius planner. He's a damn genius all around really. He doesn't even joke without intention on how it'll throw off the other person. It's not nerves, or for the sake of humor like other heroes, it's tactics to him.
These are literally in the first pages of the Under the Hood comic. Which you'd think would be the first comic read for anybody trying to research the character in order to write them.
And people often think he's just the Punisher of the Bat-Family, there's a good chance you've seen him described as that too. I seen it maybe a couple times in the past couple days alone.
He does more than just kill criminals.
He manipulates them. Uses them.
He tears the criminal underworld of Gotham City from the inside out like a disease destroying the host body.
Again, he's planning, tactical, calculating, smart, focused.
It makes him so much more interesting than the usual shoot-em-up-and-let-God-sort-them-out vigilante anti-hero. There's more to him. There's layers. He stands out among the crowd. He's terrifying in a whole different way.
For years I've seen in my head how good his comics could've been had they taken an angle more closely to this. Letting you see the master plan out his work, and how interesting and amazing that'd be.
Instead--he's basically a mercenary under some writers.
He ain't no damn mercenary.
Making him that feels totally insulting to the character given all the talents he'd showed. It's so lazy to simplify him into another mercenary character.
Killing isn't a business to him. Killing isn't a job to him.
It's an obligation of doing what's, to him, morally the right thing to do with the talents he has.
It takes away his urgency, his passion, his dedication, to what he does.
You don't think this far into something and have it not be personal. It's what makes him so enthralling, and engaging. You have to see what he's doing next. You have to! You couldn't stand it if you didn't!
Can't get that when he's just another guy with a gun.
There's also some people that think he's not as good as other Robins.
Bullshit.
There's decent odds he's more talented than your own fav. He's certainly more talented and skillful than my fav. I don't have a problem with that. I want these people to work best at what they are.
Jason being as skilled as he is, makes him a threat, and adds to him.
Acting like he's not as good as the others feels like another insult to him.
So, I implore you, give the real Jason Todd a chance. You may be greatly impressed with what you see.

i actually get a bit annoyed with people who get a bit annoyed when people say “sorry” in response to their bad news. “why are you apologizing you didn’t do anything :/” like okay well a) you don’t know that and actually yes i am the secret architect of all your woes and have been this whole time, way to refuse to acknowledge a woman (gender neutral)’s accomplishments. and b) we’re both fluent english speakers so you know perfectly well that “sorry” isn’t always an apology and is very commonly used as an expression of general regret or sympathy. not in this case, because i have been your secret nemesis for years, meticulously plotting your every misery, but, like, in general

this scene never fails to make me bawl my eyes out because it's just so honest and real and tender. sometimes it all hits you out of nowhere, and you just break down on a stranger over something big because of something so small. and you do the most embarrassing things trying to hide it because you've been taught it's not okay to be vulnerable, and of course you fail to really hide it, and it would be so much more human and normal if you just stopped turning away and said, "i'm sorry, i'm hurting, i know i don't know you but thank you for the tissue" and let them give you a hug. and you've seen other people do that and you don't know why but you're so fucking scared of it that you'd rather cry into a toilet plunger in the middle of a bed bath and beyond.
