It has been a week now since we lost our sweet Moses. While we knew his time was nearing it was still too soon. He was simply an amazing dog. He had his quirks but who doesn’t? He never met a tissue he could resist. He would smile on command, showing his grill. He was so patient with his “big” sis Lily who would beat him up daily. I miss her stomping through the house and beating up walls and furniture with her tail. The house is so empty with just one pup left. Our baby Jezebel, who these days is a very old lady. She is our spooky pup, moving so quietly you never hear her coming. “Dogs’ lives are short, too short, but you know that going in. You know the pain is coming, you’re going to lose a dog, and there’s going to be great anguish, so you live fully in the moment with her, never fail to share her joy or delight in her innocence, because you can’t support the illusion that a dog can be your lifelong companion.
