Frankly, I felt the same. The reason why I hated that that guy was 'gifted' the walkover in the semi is because he will be glorified as the one who will be deemed as the best contender to take down Jannik in the final considering 2 factors: their head2head, and the previous 2 meetings (USO23 & Cincy24): in which, Jannik lost in the former and barely won in the latter. However, the 'will' in the previous sentence did happen, and we saw all of the discussions leading up to the final and the focus was not even on whether Jannik could defend his title or not, but rather will Zverev finally win a slam? It is sickening to think that the media coverage and image protection the tour is trying to portray on him. It was hyped as one of the most anticipated matches as the number one and two are going to meet in the final, but in the end, the women's final was far a lot better in a lot of aspects; entertainment, grit, guts and storyline in general.

As much as cliché as it gets, the root cause for why tennis players seemed to not give a damn about the allegations and proofs the victims brought forward is because of the bubble these people live in. I've observed that mostly, only those who are active on Twitter and tumblr are those who are aware of the case thoroughly. This sport is a white sport, first and foremost. Hence, we will get white treatment AND protection. To make it worse, I'll rephrase it. It is a white AND favoured-by-men-who-have-stupid-egos sport.

While I want to blame the players for everything they said and did with the 'glorified' abusers, the same thing can be said towards the tour as well. ATP Tour, ITF Tennis, Germany's tennis, and other organisations who are responsible for handling/managing him. No strict liabilities, actions taken, and penalty were given. People who read are not goddamn stupid, for fuck's sake. There should be an obvious reason as to why the case was 'settled' outside. And him, with better power and manipulative tricks, made it believable that the allegations were not valid in the first place if he settled it outside the court. I knew it too well for it to end like this. It is really frustrating to see the outcome of the trial like that because even if I dont have any experiences with domestic violence, my close friend was a victim, and I witnessed almost everything that she faced. It is terrifying to see your abuser roam free and being glorified to an extent that people would cross countries just to scream his name and smile while showing support to him. Disgusting, really. The tour is not doing enough in creating awareness that this guy faced DV allegations with proper evidence presented. They are not taking this seriously because why? As long as Zverev's performance can bring in the money and attraction to ignorant fans, they will milk him out. That is their priority.

This is why I favored the idea of bringing in a widespread cancel culture among fans. And the tour has to be the 'flagbearer' of that. Do you have allegations with EVIDENCE presented? jail. shame. cancelled. Exactly how korean media/kpop stan culture is. That man should never know peace in the streets, and everyone should not be shaking hands and exchanging words with him. But, such things will never because why? We know it by now. The industry favours a guy who can bring them attention, regardless of what they did. A man can bring such spotlight, no matter how fucked up his past actions are.

Part of me wanted him to accuse Jannik of doping as well so that Jannik would never be close to him (like Nick), but I hate HATE to paint a guy as a saint in this situation. He (Jannik), too, is a complicit. And that guy is such a manipulative ass for 'crying' wtv wanting attention that he is served with another heartbreaking loss in the grand slam final and letting his opponent symphatize and making a scene out of it.

While at that, I also want to believe that players who speak English as first language probably are more aware of the situation and 'forced' to be in situations that require them to speak of him nicely for the sake of the rules and PR. I believe that Morgan made Taylor aware of the case/situation given how she posted that Instagram story after Taylor defeated him. And iirc, if they were to speak against the rules, a serious action would be taken on the player. Hence, they have to play by the rules. I hope these players who are aware of the severity of the case and have the conscience to not be friendly with him can speak about this while not having their careers gambled on the line.

I hate to say it, but Jannik's so-called 'kindness' came from his ignorance as well as how the tour made it possible for their players to stay ignorant about the case.

And while at that, I want to say that in any situation, it doesn't matter how nice the abuser seems, regardless of the gender, abuse is still an abuse. Physically, verbally, and mentally, they count the same way if it has damages on the victims. I believe in them. I thank every outlet that interviewed the person who shouted at Zverev's speech and gave them a platform as to why it is important to discuss this 'uncomfortable' topic. They deserve a bigger audience and attention to make EVERYONE who engages with this sport aware that The World Number Two is not a saint the tour want him to be. He is an abuser with victims being ignored and forgotten. And that reputation should echo louder by taking the first step that the person bravely did: Make him uncomfortable at all times.

If he swept everything under the rug, thinking that nobody would ever think about it again, he made a rookie mistake. Even the worst crime left prints behind, and it will always be talked in his career: someone who abused was glorified on the tour. I hope what they did there be the first step for everyone to be more comfortable in making him uncomfortable. Then, the media attention will come next. With urgencies and attention, one day, maybe, we will get to see his downfall.

I'm basically talking too much at this point, but I want to make it clear that I won't stop you from portraying any of the players on tour as the bad guy for hahahoho-ing with him. You are free to do so, and I am nobody in the conversation from stopping you saying otherwise. You know yourself best, and I will not take offense from it. I will still criticize Jannik for being 'too kind' in that situation. Therefore I hope they never meet in a big stage ever again.

the appeal, to him, of the cliche romantic gestures are that they kind of remove him from it. like my friend said: that's just what everyone does! he's not the romantic, no, he's going along with whatever the popular idea is. it's a bit of separation for him.

the truth is.... he just likes it. he enjoys it. these gestures are a classic for a reason and a clear show of love and care. he gets flowers because that's what people do.

as for c!techno, he absolutely would break out the poetry once he realized that's the sort of thing c!dream wants. because he might've come up with an epic, personalized proposal for their fake marriage but he saw that desire to be romantic and went 'ah, i see, i see'. so yeah, he recites poetry and c!dream rolls his eyes and calls it lame but man. he loves it.

I'm less than 50 pages into this book and the entire thing is so bad that I'm just procrastinating it. The racism is so bafflingly bad that what I just hit was maybe 2 pages apart, a white character worrying about the biracial girl he's been sexualizing in his mind since she was 14 (and he was 54!!! Isn't this book GREAT) turning into a slave due to him wanting to suck her blood. And then 2 or so pages after that, he talks about how he, as he is now in a nonwhite body (long story. Don't worry about it) has privileges bc of his "bronze skin" and that he can effortlessly blend in society. Due to the fact in VC, vampires get whiter over time. No I'm not joking. And the really fun lore that the Egyptians have melanin bc some vampires were nearly killed in the sun but lived and got a tan and that affected everyone. And the oldest vampires from Egypt are just completely white skinned. It's awesome lore nonstop.

i want to apologize more formally for answering the anon who gave me a false list of proshippers.

ever since making a post asking proshippers to please block me (i had some who were following me), people have been anonymously sending me some lists of proshippers/controversial people in the UTMV fandom.

i have answered a few, but only those that were calling out proshippers that have actually confirmed to be proshippers.

when i received this ask in particular, i just saw someone giving me a list with no ill-intent behind it. so, without giving much thought, i replied to the ask.

my intention with this was to let others know who to block/avoid; not to harass, witch-hunt, etc. i am aware that these kinds of lists can encourage this behavior, which i take responsibility for. i genuinely apologize for using my platform in this way—even if it was done unintentionally, it was still wrong of me to do.

this being said, i do NOT stand for harassment in any way, shape, or form. even if it is directed towards proshippers, that is no way to solve the real issue. proshippers need help, they do not need more reason to need help. purposefully going out of your way to stalk, bully, send threats, or ANYTHING of that nature is wrong.

i made my first apology in a panicked rush, once i saw people telling me that the anon was spreading misinformation. however, in that blog, i did not acknowledge how my actions could have harmed people listed (especially ones who were listed falsely).

if you were affected in any way by my response to this anon, i apologize personally to you. please know this was not my intent: even if you are a proshipper, my only thoughts regarding that ask was "hey! cool, a free blocklist."

everyone is human, and nobody should be treated this way. although i think proshippers are morally wrong, and need help/therapy, they are still real people behind the screen. real people affected by your actions: mine included. the best thing you can do in the situation of seeing a proshipper is blocking them instead of instigating interaction.

i will no longer be doing anything like this again now that i am taking into consideration that some people are using these lists as witch-hunt lists. i should have checked all of the names before replying, especially since the list included no proof whatsoever. in the future, i do promise to be mindful and very cautious when addressing topics like these, especially when it comes to checking facts.

i do hope i can be forgiven, but i understand if not. i understand my actions have consequences, and i understand i was in the wrong taking a hand in spreading false information and encouraging harassment.

the purpose of this apology is to acknowledge what i did wrong, learn from it, and move on. and, to clear up why i replied to the list. keep in mind that it is not an excuse for my actions, but a reason for them. i still made the choice to answer this ask and not at least clarify to block them instead of harassing them.

to the anon who sent that ask: do not spread false information, please. it only hurts those who are involved, nothing good comes out of it for either side.

to the grown adults sending me asks, insulting me: what is wrong with you? i am a 16 year old. i am going to make mistakes. it's a part of life, a part of learning. if you seriously think you're doing good by being nasty to a kid on tumblr because of a stupid choice they made, you further strengthen my belief that proshippers need help.

Whenever me or my sister complain about hating a book, my mother tells the story about the one book she has ever thrown out in 50 years.

It was a book she was really looking forward to and had saved up money to buy (it being a reasonably expensive book in the late 80s/early 90s and also a lean time in my mothers young adult life.) She spent the entire time absolutely dumbfounded by the quality and plot and the moment she finished the last line she walked over to the trashcan and pitched it.

I have spent my entire life wondering how bad a book would have to be to get me to that point.

I just found it.

Sunrise on the Reaping is a... baffling turn in quality from a woman I upheld to be the last great bastion against YA authors selling out. There are crumbs of gold in it but the plot screams for a second pass by eyes not connect to someone yes-anding Suzanne Collins into another movie deal. There are plot lines that desperately need trimmed and references that read as fan service at best and lazy writing at worst.

Where the original trilogy and Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes feel as though they have direction and purpose Sunrise comes up despairingly short. I spent the entire 382 pages grasping at straws looking for the thesis of this book and have come up completely dry. I know what the book is telling me its thesis is. I read the quotes, I was paying attention to the political messaging (maybe even paying more attention than typical given my above average education in political theory/philosophy), I read the fucking title. But that doesn't change the fact that the book rather quickly loses the plot in that regard, almost in favor of the Poe-inspired madness, which would have been well and good if Haymitch had been sold to us as mad character. But he wasn't. He's an alcoholic and he's smart as a whip but he was never crazy in the way Poe liked to write madness. (and I am intimately aware of how Poe writes madness, my writing pseudonym wouldn't be inspired by his name otherwise)

I just wasted 18 hours of my life and I'm $30 poorer and I'm pissed off to boot.

Where is the focus Suzanne? Where is the prescient political messaging? I count your books as treasures among my political fiction collection, next to greats like The Handmaid's Tale and Animal Farm and 1984. How the fuck am I supposed to put this unfinished draft of something that could be great next to them in good conscience?

I'm fucking pissed and I wish this book didn't exist. I would rather it didn't exist. My only consolation is I bought this damn thing at a local woman-owned small business. I can only hope that makes up for what a nightmare this has been.
