When you two first started hanging out he was constantly asking Rosalie for advice, and still does when he runs out of gift ideas.

i have already done regressor cody headcanons in the past so this time i’ll do cg headcanons for him (flip cody truther) (most of my favs are flips okaYYY) i gotta do a cg hc template soon

- energetic but still sorta chill type of cg. speaks pretty casually with littles but still makes sure to watch his choices of words

- main littles are noah (propaganda), and heather when she lets him. (heath/cody sibling dynamic fan) tends to stay around alejandro and gwen as well.

- often cgs along with team amazon or the guys alliance from tdddi

- was initially pretty nervous about being a cg. he had NO idea what to do (id think the first person/people to regress around him would be someone on team amazon)

- he ended up getting the hang of it though :-)

- would let the little win in games. or maybe he’s just bad at uno

Hey, Daiki!! Assuming they're a little older and living together ... they might actually spend plenty of their indoor time apart. As compatible as they are, Ibuki and Mikan are different in some key ways. Ibuki likes blasting her music, while Mikan prefers a calmer environment. Mikan likes to read, while Ibuki prefers more distracting entertainment.

After some friction, they'd hit on a solution: hanging out in separate rooms. It'd be weird at first: Ibuki enjoys company, Mikan bristles at isolation, and both love being together and feel a little guilty about leaving the other alone to pursue their own hobbies. But it'd be good for them. Ibuki can be herself by herself. Mikan can learn to be alone and not lonely.

And it's not like they don't hang out at all. After a certain point, whatever they felt like doing becomes less desirable than spending time with the girlfriend. I think Mikan would enjoy watching Ibuki play video games, and Ibuki would try to make her laugh with a running commentary. If it's the kind of game where players make big decisions - like, for example, The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy! - Ibuki asks Mikan to do them. It's a safe way for Mikan to experience tension and pressure: if her choice is a mistake, they can always go back.

They're also an artsy couple. Maybe an arts-and-crafts couple is a better way to put it. They often doodle with scented colored pencils, draw on sidewalks with chalk, paint figurines, and things like that. For them, it's more about fun and self-expression than technique and talent. A few scraps always hang from magnets on their fridge.

Finally, they like entertaining! Not every weekend, but fairly often! Ibuki mostly hosts and plans, but Mikan gets more involved over time in a conscious effort to make new friends and bond with older ones. Small hangouts, bigger parties, movie nights, holiday bashes, and especially sleepovers. In these events, they're not attached at the hip and will drift between people throughout the night. Even so, those who know them will tell you that Ibuki and Mikan are usually together, arm in arm, like it's their natural state.

Loved the character analysis post! On the topic of self control, how well do ur fav characters handle the impulse to purchase lil doodads near checkout?

@hwsforeignrelations This took so long your account deactivated omg. This has been 95% written in my drafts for months.

Hws England: Arthur has no problem spending money; if he wants something, he’ll just buy it. I've kinda mentioned this before, but Arthur likes his knickknacks. He'll usually come back with, at least one, pointless souvenir whenever there's a world meeting (his fridge is covered in magnets). Basically, he does not handle the impulse well lol.

Hws America: Alfred usually just gets him groceries delivered so is rarely presented with the impulse. However, when it comes to teleshopping he buys all kinds of rubbish (pretty sure that's canon). It is easy to sell something to Alfred but it's rare that something will catch his eye on its own. Though if he does spot something he wants, he'll buy it so he's not great at handling the impulse either.

Hws Japan: Kiku is similar to Alfred, he primarily shops online and rarely does so in person. He's also prone to buying things because they look or do something cool. Though he has more self-restraint when buying things and tends to weigh up if they're actually worth it. He's more likely to leave something and then come back for it later if/when the impulse doesn't go away. So I think he handles the impulse well.

Hws Prussia: Gilbert… It really depends. On his own, he's not buying anything he didn't set out to buy, he doesn't even look at anything else. With other people however, he's terrible. Buy's whatever catches his eye, usually cheap rubbish that he can annoy people with and he'll gift it to that person so that he doesn't have to clutter his house with it. Overall though he's great at handling the impulse, unless he needs it he won't buy it.

Hws Germany: Ludwig cannot make a purely impulsive decision. All of the appliances he owns has been thoroughly researched beforehand. This man is a prime example of impulse control.

Taking the time before class to ramble ab my fav soggy boy, BEN :)

I think he only owns one console: a transparent purple N64 with his singular copy of Majora's Mask.

Despite his nature and his obvious ties to Zelda, I think his favorite princess in the Nintendo franchise is actually Rosalina- even though she has Luma, essentially she watches over the cosmos alone. I think he just likes her color palette and vibes, and he knows the feeling of loneliness that comes with being an immortal who watches over a vast landscape.

I also just think he doesn't want to hurt people, at least imo. He just wants them to know how it feels to be trapped, to be lonely and angry and hurting like he did. Less of a physical hurt, more of a mental torture.

In that same vein, I think his mental torture does have some physical effects- I can't remember if this was a thing in his actual story, but I have a few headcanons:

-Your house begins to smell like standing water, there are muddy footprints everywhere, the sound of jingling chains and high pitched, distorted laughter.

-Your computer begins to let out a high pitched hum, your wallpaper changes randomly, and each time you try to hit escape, there is a random message that says "You cannot escape me."

-When you try and show anyone, the messages are gone, and your wallpaper is back to normal.

-If things get further, he'll start leaving messages on your fridge with magnets if you have them, your foggy mirrors- anything he can use.

-Like Brahms from the Boy, uses a high pitched voice to lure you in, much like a child's, but his actual voice is much deeper to reflect his mental aging.

The atomic purple N64 ABSOLUTELY!!!! If I may run with my boys a bit~ I think it would def be Ben's baby, he loves that thing to pieces, but he cannot take care of it for the life of him 💀 Evie is the one to pamper the "little princess" as it calls it, because Ben "doesn't treat her right". Ben is definitely the kinda guy to leave a mess with his games and stuff, chip crumbs in the crevices and what not. Evie doesn't play very often at all, but it keeps everything clean and huffs at the messes Ben makes.

Ahh the Rosalina headcanon is so sweet 🥺I totally get what you're saying. I think they would all have different favorites but I can definitely see Rosie tugging at their heart strings, especially Evie. It really understands being alone for god knows how long, watching and waiting.

And yessss I second the them not hurting people. In my hcs, the only reason they did hurt anyone was because Evie was lashing out at being contained and trapped, and it was exerting what control it could over its environment. Evie is definitely fickle and can be sadistic, but hurting and killing people for the thrill of it? That's just not its nature, not on random innocents at least.

And oooooooo I like those hcs! Especially the last one, the whole being lured into a false sense of security. I feel like that's a very fun way to play into the whole age debate with it too, it presents as a child to lure you into a false sense of comfort, that's cool as hell!! And I had so much fun thinking of ways it could communicate while it was noncorporeal, the alphabet magnets are a fave. Stubbornly doodling spooky faces on the mirror while you shower cuz it can't scare you anymore lmao

daily notes - july 30, 2024

Naproxen worked nicely. I took it at midnight, and my pain is still a lot better. (Like, even better than before the fall.) Feeling more dizzy as I move around today, shaking still. Reading and playing games feels like "too much". I'll either chill with music or asmr videos later.

New fridge has a piercing LED light inside. It's bright and hurts, but it also doesn't light up the whole fridge very well. I need to place something in front of the light so it doesn't blind me. I've thought about adding some sort of color filter, maybe asking if we could replace it with a different colored LED. I don't know if it's worth the effort, since I'll get used to it eventually.

The drawers and door-shelves feel more flimsy, as well. Not as nice as the last fridge, but they literally don't make 'em like that anymore, I guess. Still feels so silly that the microwave and fridge died within a couple months of each other.

Weather is cool and damp, so the windows are closed. The cold breeze hurt as it hit my skin. If not for my continuing sensitivity, I would've been happy to put on a sweatshirt. (Skin-on-skin contact is starting to hurt again, though I had been okay for some time lately.)

I put magnets back on the fridge while dad made dinner. We had my fav comfort food, kielbasa-rice-and-onions, with a chicken sausage variation. Dad kept spilling the rice, so we had some good laughs.

exposingoui actually has a butt if you take off its underwear lmao. I let whatoui try on the underwear since their colors are so close to each other.

also, these ones have magnets in their back which means they can stick to the fridge! exposingoui sticks rly well, phoningoui has a bit more trouble (maybe bc of the extra embroidery on it? idk, I tried repositioning the magnet as best I could)

7. ur least fav book trope?

two tropes for the price of one: body swap stories usually are not my thing, and also miscommunication tropes that aren't character studies but more like "character A overhears character B saying something out of context to character C, character A runs away and half of the plot ensues due to this one moment of miscommunication that could have been easily avoided"

14. an overrated book?

NF: 'Sapiens' by Yuval Noah Harari. everything wrong with the "reactionary centrist parading as liberalism" movement. he taps into the idea that because we've made "progress", that things are fine now, actually, and that even a lot of the bad stuff of the past was for the greater good, actually. and we will definitely keep "progressing" towards being "better" as a species without any further effort. very popular in liberal circles and it's annoying because at its core it's quite conservative.

F: 'The Night Circus' by Erin Morgenstern. interesting concept with 3/5 star execution and mid-tier prose. the ending was a cop-out, and it took a turn towards orientalism at the end. also fridged the major queer character after she revealed her queerness as part of the orientalism. lol.

15. an underrated book?

NF: Going to take this opportunity to plug a book that I've never seen anyone else talk about but that I think everyone with even a passing interest in archaeology or cultural heritage politics should read. 'Lords of Sipan' by Sidney D. Kirkpatrick is about the discovery of Moche royal tombs (in Peru) that had been untouched by grave robbers, and had to be defended upon its discovery from grave robbers. It's part action adventure part archaeological exposition. It's an immensely enjoyable read and it's a story of how an archaeological dig was mostly run by and stayed in the hands of the people who were descended from the long-dead. I saw an exhibition of some of the finds at the Met in NYC several years ago and they were stunning.

F: Johannes Cabal the Necromancer by Jonathan L. Howard (my spouse suggested this one and I agree). Should be waaaayy more popular than it actually is. If you like necromancy and sopping wet protagonists, definitely check this out.

16. the book that made u fall in love with reading?

THIS IS ALWAYS SUCH A FUNNY QUESTION FOR ME. When I was 5 or 6, there were already about 8 cousins on my dad's side of the family, including me and my two brothers. My grandparents ended up with little magnets with each of our names on them, and a little illustration for our interests or personalities. They were customized; my grandparents picked the illustrations. It was mostly airplanes and baseballs for the boys and flowers for the girls. I had a book on mine. My favorite game when I was in first grade was being asked by my parents to spell complicated words, and mostly getting them right. Reading is like breathing to me, even if I manage to not find enough time to do it as an adult with bills to pay. Well I did say Mrs. Meyer’s, which I use for hand soap/dish soap…I also wanted to keep up with the fabuloso for mopping but I was introduced to the little pacs that you just drop into the mop so now I use that. But if we’re talking what cleaning product do I talk up all the time it’s bar keepers friend lol

12. How many cups can you see from where you're sitting?

Shockingly just the one…oh no wait I can see into my office. I have one iced coffee I made myself approx. 20 minutes ago next to me and I can see my water bottle (which needs to be refilled) and an empty bottle of vitamin water…on my desk is an empty plastic cup I should’ve thrown out…and I can’t see it rn but I know it’s there so I’ll count my glass of iced coffee that I already finished

Oh goodness a movie?? I’ve seen others after it but I saw challengers in theaters and it was soooo great

LMAO what a question. Ok I have 1 pair of kitchen shears that I try to keep solely for cooking related actions and one pair that’s kinda all purpose and lives in my toolbox (or it should). I think I have a pair of kid’s scissors I found when I was moving but I have no idea where I put that afterwards so I both do and don’t own it now

God. I used to collect coins from other countries but my brother threw it out (accidentally??) so… otherwise I’m always looking out for cute pins

Ironically I made up a playlist composed of my fav middle/high school bangers that I listen to a lot now, so…yes

Ok it’s not every time but there’s an ice cream shop that’s a cute couple minute’s walk from me that I’ll stop at after my more annoying errands

I try to grocery list but inevitably forget while I’m there so…it’s all vibes. I now live across the street from my grocery store though so it’s not as bad.

A kitchen aid stand mixer 😭 I’m sorry, I’m a sucker for the cute colors…that or one of those vitamix food processors. I didn’t have the space at my old place for appliances so now that I have the space it is a struggle not to just go ham. My sister also won an air fryer during bingo last year and tbh now I’m like………idk. Maybe……

Is it bad to say I haven’t finished a book in a while 😭 lemme look at my kindle…I have so many books partially started 🥲 I’m enjoying Silky Shah’s Unbuild Walls bc that’s who I am but I’ve also started the skin and it’s girl and an intrigued.

46. What kind of stuff do you keep on the door of your refrigerator?

I inherited a nice fridge (waaaay bigger than my old one AND it dispenses water/ice) which I love but the door isn’t magnetic. The side however is and I keep my knives on a block there along with miscellaneous magnets (including photos 🥲)

Ok here’s the thing. I used to be anti throw pillows bc I’d be like they’re so annoying and tbh useless??? But now!!!! I got some comfy ass throw pillows and I’m into it. I am pro throw pillows now.

54. Do you decorate your house for holidays? Which ones?

I don’t!! My first year at my old place I didn’t bother to have a Christmas tree or anything and lemme tell you that was Controversial. I’ll have to get a new tree now, assuming I actually decorate…I might get a cute wreath for the door though and make it usable for the year? I don’t usually decorate special tho.

67. Do you keep any stuffed animals on your bed?

Aaron, my little wolf I’ve had for decades, lives on my couch owing to the face that I have something like five pillows on my bed now

USWNT send-off (or one od them anyway) next Saturday! I’m also looking forward to getting my coworker’s trial over with (I’m taking over for him and am trying not to be too nervous about it).
