Thinking about the Baker Street Irregulars and Holmes shaking hands with a baby.
Thinking about Watson joining in the little girl's laughter in The Yellow Face.
Thinking about how Holmes gives "paternal advice" to the young couple in The Noble Bachelor.
Thinking about how they're both good with kids and Holmes sees himself in a fatherly role to the younger people he's helping.
Thinking about Watson seeing Holmes being good with kids.
Thinking about how maybe one of the reasons Watson proposed to Mary Morstan, a woman with a lot of similarities to Holmes, after less than a week of knowing her is because maybe he really wanted to have kids -- and he couldn't conceive of how that would be possible with another man.

Honestly, if I was a wizard or something, I would have a magic screen to scroll tumblr with and tell people I don't have a phone
it's probably funniest if he's just straight up blatantly lying but i think it's also funny if constantine has somehow installed tiktok on an ipod touch he stole from someone who forgot they still had it in the back of a drawer somewhere

Javier, after walking in on Lloyd doing high level magic out of nowhere: .....
Lloyd: I can explain.
Javier: Can you?
Lloyd, sighing: no, probably not.

what's weird about the fantasy high drama is that like. it seems to me like people forget d&d is primarily a) a game you play with your friends and also b) luck based.
I mean it's fine to say that "nothing felt like a challenge" and "they just dominated everything and there weren't any stakes" but like. it's not as if they weren't up against huge threats. they lost the mall fight. the last stand was an onslaught of enemies. they fought a dozen dragons from an airship. the fights were hard. they're just really good. they've had very good dice luck in general this season and are all very high level and highly specialized. fig is gonna beat deception and performance checks. adaine's gonna figure out the arcana. riz is gonna succeed investigations. like. for some reason their strategical competence and wisely picked abilities are. a downside? a disappointment?
the thing about d&d that you need to remember is it's first and foremost a game. it's mostly random and it takes you down weird paths and you're playing to have fun with your friends. the dice are literally telling the story that it's their time, it's their year. they've struggled enough. they've trained enough. they're good at what they do. and in my post about the academic/domestic/personal stressors being the focus, d&d doesn't have any other system to work them out than rolling different skills. that's what d&d is. brennan set specific challenge levels for different tasks and the players strategized to prioritize which abilities they were strongest in. the challenges were there. and the players rose to them. they were both smart in their delegation of responsibilities and lucky with their dice rolls. of which, both are foundations of d&d.
don't mistake them being good players and getting lucky with there being no hardship. just because they smashed through the wall, that doesn't mean the wall wasn't strong. they were just stronger.

Just realized something: Wander probably doesn't know his own name/backstory
During the episode where they were protecting some kids from Dominator, Wander seemed genuinely curious to hear what the oldest had to say since she claimed she knew the hero's "true backstory". He almost acted like it was possible for this random teenager to know his several thousand-year old history and seemed more curious than cautious for what it'd contain.
Seeing how traumatic his backstory was through his PTSD in the crystal room, it's entirely possible he repressed it completely! Especially knowing how young he was when it happened.
If Craig doesn't know Wander's backstory either then this feels like a possible explanation; what are your thoughts?
i didn't personally get the impression that he was excited to hear what she thought because he himself didn't know, i just think he wanted to hear a theory that didn't involve too much violence. he says near the end that setting their stories straight wasn't ever part of his plan, and he just wanted them to have some semblance of hope, no matter how inaccurate it was.
i think keeping his backstory vague is mainly a writing choice, since 1) it's easier to deal with than an expansive lore-drop in a largely lighthearted cartoon and 2) it keeps wander a lil mysterious, which is a really fun part of his character imho.
that said, i don't think it's impossible or even unlikely that wander himself is repressing some large chunks of his memory. maybe he's even been around for too long to even attempt remembering what happened way back When beyond fuzzy shapes and general feelings. since we'll never know what exactly happened to make him the way he is, or if there even is one specific event, it's up to whoever's writing the fanfic!

Does anyone else ever think about the "when i met him he was a scared little boy in a jail cell" part of the he's my boy speech. I don't need him he needs me because I am his foundation. He was nothing before he met me. I built him from the ground up and will be damned if anybody gets in the way of his growth. I love the mix of possessiveness and pride throughout that whole speech.

i was so surprised to hear people hate 'being frank' (11x06) because i love it- it's within my top thirty episodes of sunny easy. i really enjoyed seeing frank's interiority and his relationships with the rest of the gang, as well as the effect age has on him. plus having access to his inner monologue really enhanced his character to me, as it shows just how much he desires the validation of the gang. i feel like this episode really helped me 'get' frank as a character and understand his motivations. he just wants the gang to be proud of him and enjoy his life! his relationships with ponderosa and charlie in particular are very sweet, and of course the final scene of him and charlie playing nightcrawlers before bed is adorable. i love the structure of this episode in particular because the whole thing- taking course over a day, shot in the POV style, his narration, etc.- both illustrates how the gang operates and how frank operates within the gang in a truly creative way. the dynamics within the gang and how they interact really make the show for me and i love when they showcase them. it also depicts age in a way not typically seen in television, at least from this perspective. despite the how old he is, he is still 'getting real weird with it'. it's not holding him back in any meaningful way. they still manage to pull off the scam and he has a great day that ends with him playing a game with his best friend/surrogate son. this episode displays one of my favorite things about sunny- despite being known as the gross-out humor show that looks like shit (in glenn howerton's words) and having the ultimate bad-people characters, they can still make an incredibly compelling narrative that dissects how and why these people perceive the world the way they do in a way that is truly unique. episodes like this make me think this is what comedy television can be! and inspire me to want to write for it.

It's taking me ages to write this chapter because every time I look through old VODs / notes to check something, I come across moments like this that make me want to lie down face-first on the floor:
[Context: Pac commits to the idea of taking the Happy Pills so he can create a cure. He's about to write a note to Cellbit to explain his plan.]
Pac: If Cellbit puts himself in this position, it's worse for everyone, because Cellbit is smarter when it comes to coming up with strategic plans, so he is the thinking mind of the Favela Five group, so if he no longer has the mind, he’s not capable of solving this whole problem, you know? But if I put myself in this position to help Cellbit so he can get the cure... You understand? It's better if I'm the bait. Right? I can't- I can't carry things alone guys, I've already lost Mike [...] if I lose Cellbit and I alone had to carry things, I won't be able to. But I think Cellbit can manage better. He is more independent, and he has Roier. He has a husband. I'm trying to– to be lucid here, understand? That's all.
Date: September 11, 2023 || Timestamp: 03:10:10
#i talk#qsmp talk#Oh Pac... :((((#I know the Happy Pills arc is soured for a lot of us (for valid reasons) but I still love it because of how vital it is to Pac's character#This arc is what solidified him as my favorite character. He was so brave and he's so full of love and grief#Aghh. Those self-worth issues man... :(((#Pac cubito I carry you in my heart forever and ever and always#fic talk#I don't know if it's funny or miserable that whenever I fact-check myself thinking#''Am I misremembering this / misrepresenting this? Is this too grim?''#The answer is no I hit it dead center#I love Pac's dynamic with all the Favela members but Pac and Cellbit's relationship dynamic has so many layers#it's fascinating to explore#Especially since in the stream before this he had a complete breakdown because he was terrified Cell was going to come back#Love and fear and friendship and anger and hate and healing...#So many layers#The murderer who once mauled him who he left to die#Now a dear friend and co-parent of his son#It's fascinating#What breaks my heart is when Cellbit finds out Pac took the Happy Pills a few days later and they have a confrontation#Cellbit tells him ''You were my only hope- the only scientific person who could create a cure; how are we supposed to save you?''#''We still had one another and now I'm alone!'' <– As always please take my translation with a grain of salt#But man. MAN.... Pac saying Cellbit will be fine he can handle things on his own and he has Roier#vs. Cellbit having the same fears of being left alone#I wonder if; even for a moment; he remembered what it felt like when Pac (e Mike) abandoned him on that Island after Fuga#Obviously he realized / later learned why Pac took the pills but AGH!!!!!!!!!! It hurts.#I wish they logged on at the same time more frequently I WISH we got to see them interact more#I can't really explore this too much in the Fit Pac fic but I am delving into it in the Pac fic#I don't think I'll go as in-depth with the Happy Pill stuff as I'm doing in this fic though. This has been exhausting. It's a heavy arc#(Stream date: September 13 2023 || Timestamp 1:34:00 for Cellbit's POV of that conversation btw)

Okay
What if...
While Xelqua is practicing spells, he makes a mistake...
Which then results in him turning into a child until the spell is reversed?
xelqua can do this on command actually !
i've sorta doodled this idea before, in attempt to comfort Grian and not look so scary in his usual form (old art)
Tumblr media
Xelqua can probably change his form in other ways, but i think only within versions of Grian haha.
If he changes on purpose, then he's very in control, but I think if it happens from stress or intense emotions or even if he stays in form too long, it'll affect his psyche, like he won't remember who he is, and will act as if he is genuinely a kid, and believes he is !
