viewing the fnaf movie as just a movie doesn't work. you're sabotaging yourself and taking away all the enjoyment from it if you don't think of it as the fnaf movie. if i look at it as just a movie, then yeah, i totally get what the critics are saying. it's so far from the lore of the original games (but since when has that not been a problem in the franchise lmao), the killer doesn't really have a clear motivation, and the ending does kind of come out of nowhere. but if i think of it as the fnaf movie i can actually love it. yes, it's far from the original lore. that's just how fnaf goes. yes, it is a glorified two hour lore dump. but could we want anything more from fnaf? it's literally infamous for the lore. sure, springtrap does kind of come out of nowhere. but the joy and whimsy experienced when he does show up is fucking amazing, actually. i don't care if it's a bad movie. it's the best viewing experience i've had in 2023.

A defense of William Afton as a villain (not as a person though, lol)
Because of all the new Dead by Daylight Springtrap voicelines, a lot of people are starting to realize that William Afton really always was a theatrical villain, with very little strategy in his plans (outside of the Funtime animatronics, of course). But they're also saying that this makes him a disappointing villain, which I heavily disagree with. It fits his character to be like this, honestly. Afton was an abusive father with a fragile ego, and he preyed on children solely because they were vulnerable and easy to lure. As Springtrap, he's ecstatic. He's in pain, but the pain is worth the power that the springlock suit has given him. He doesn't have to be careful anymore, he doesn't have to go after kids only, he can do whatever he wants, and it's very hard to stop him.
It's shown perfectly in every canon appearance of Afton, too. In The silver Eyes, as a human, he was theatrical, and also negligent, because he was able to get away with his crimes before. In The Twisted Ones, he was very powerful and ecstatic as Springtrap. In The Fourth Closet, he wasn't as energetic, but he had an even bigger ego, and that was his downfall. In Pizzeria simulator, he literally fell for the trap at the beginning, and immediately lied about falling for it to Mike, to make himself look smart.
William Afton isn't the smartest villain ever, but he's still a cruel one, and the cruelty is the point for him.
He eventually got curious and experimented (for example, when he placed the children's bodies by the Toy animatronics to see if they'd become possessed, and also the whole concept of the Funtime animatronics), but overall, his motives were very much implied from the start to be pure cruelty. Not every villain needs a dramatic and sad origin story, and Afton is a great example of that. William is a pathetic man and he knows it, which is why the springlock suit makes him feel so much more alive than before.
His ego and sadism drives his entire being. He's reckless in his methods because of it, and that's one of his only weaknesses. He's disgusted by "William Afton". He can't feel powerful without the suit in the games, the books, or the movie. He hates his own guts, and he doesn't mind them being torn to pieces by springlocks, if it means that he gets to be Springtrap.
Personally, I think all of that just makes him a better villain. FNAF is all about hidden lore, and for the longest time, people tried way too hard to see what made the main villain the way he is, but it was in plain sight the whole time. There is never ONE scene with any version of Afton that paints him to be a tragic character. He's pure evil, but realistically so. Springtrap is still a great villain, because only the worst kind of person would prey on the most vulnerable, and then take it up to the next level as soon as they're able to, all because it's fun.
THANK YOU FOR READING THIS! :)

I took the time to analyze the new character posters for Squid Game and I’m briefly gonna break down what each one might mean. This could all literally mean nothing but oh well. This is gonna be a long one
Gi-hun

Background resembles the scratch away art notebook things. The one with the wooden utensils. Possibly representing what’s going to be revealed to Gi-hun and/or what’s going to be revealed about his character. There’s a few houses in the background, including a two-story home. On the wall behind him, there’s fruits drawn out. I’m guessing those are either apples or peaches. Apples typically represent knowledge, immortality, temptation, fall of man and sin. All very biblical. Peaches also represent immortality, but a few other resources say that they can also represent longevity, fertility and new life, completion of a goal. Either way, I do think Gi-hun’s poster hints at him surviving and completing his mission. I think the multiple houses could represent him getting custody of his daughter and she would be bouncing between two homes.
In-ho

Only one with a background not depicted using children’s art. In a jungle, showing that he’s a predator/in the predator’s space. The venus fly traps and a variety of ferns. Fly traps can represent persistence, danger, and deception. Ferns in different cultures represent resistance, growth, and new life. Ferns are also some of Earth’s oldest plants. They’re endurance is incredible. I don’t think that this necessarily means In-ho is going to survive, but rather his change in opinions due to Jun-ho and Gi-hun’s influence. The color scheme is also similar to the one in Gi-hun’s poster, representing how they mirror each other.
Myung-gi

Two homes, handprint paintings. This one is obvious. It’s Myung-gi’s wish to build a life with Jun-hee and their child. Interestingly, there’s two homes. Similar to Gi-hun’s background, I think this could mean that if Myung-gi and Jun-hee both survive, that they end up in a platonic co-parenting relationship. The sun is behind him. A rising sun typically represents birth and growth. We’ll possibly be getting some character development from Myung-gi.
Dae-ho

Just like Myung-gi, his poster has handprint paintings in the background. I think the handprints represent a child-like personality and kindness he exuded during the second season. There’s a flamingo and butterfly behind him. Flamingos symbolize balance, beauty, and potential. They can also represent romance but I doubt that has anything to do with his character. Butterflies symbolize transformation, hope, and rebirth. I do think we’re going to learn more about Dae-ho in the beginning of the season.
Hyun-ju

Lots of pink and blue, especially on the right side. I think that’s obvious since those are the colors of the trans flag. Thought that was cute. Multiple homes, probably a neighborhood. A dog and a person in the background. Definitely showing her desire for community and family. There’s also two people(?) in the window of the orange house. I genuinely have no idea what that could possibly mean, so I’m going to straight up guess. Her parents or maybe neighbors. Their eyes are on her, representing that people have been judging her since she came out.
Yong-sik

Grasping at straws with this one. This is gonna be short. He’s the only one looking away from the camera. Probably gonna die in the first episode tbh. Birds on the ceiling, I think they’re eurasian blue tits. Which represent love, faith, hope, and honor. He’s probably going to die to save his mother.
Geum-ja

Same blue background on her son! Represents them and their relationship obviously. Behind her is a rainbow which can represent a lot of things! Hope, beauty, good luck. If we’re looking at this through the lens of the queer community, inclusivity and embracing others. Overall, I do think her poster represents her love that she’s extended towards her own team and Gi-hun’s team, particularly towards Hyun-ju and Jun-hee.
Jun-hee

F i s h. I feel like the super obvious meaning to her background is her water breaking. Water, ocean, haha. Turtles often symbolize wisdom, longevity, stability, and endurance. The octopus symbolizes intelligence, adaptability, and creativity. In my personal opinion, her background could also represent her getting on a boat and getting as far away from that island as she can.
#squid game#squid game 2#squid game season 3#seong gi hun#hwang inho#lee myung gi#kang dae ho#park yongsik#jang geumja#cho hyunju#kim jun hee#the people in the window of hyunjus poster also kinda look at springtrap#plot twist hyunju is in fnaf 2#fandom#character analysis#rant

I've done a similar rant post way back, which compared the original SaD Springtrap to my rework. Now that I have more of an established picture for William in ADC, I figured to express some of my thoughts about Roger more in depth here. [EDIT, 2/22/25] Yes, I am aware of Quinn being a minor at the time of writing Roger. As someone who was personally in their spot at their age, please take this post and the next section with a grain of salt. ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ One thing in particular that I HATE about Roger that I'll elaborate on, is how Quinn tried to use his Mental Illness to explain why he's so unstable, committed the murders, and to justify his bad actions through claiming he had "breakdowns". I really take issue with these kinds of depictions as someone who has a mental illness myself, since it perpetuates an existing negative stereotype that leads to real world violence towards folks with mental illnesses. Additionally, I'm also directing this at SaD Abience and SaD Back with Kitty Candy for continuing to depict Roger this way. You can have the ghost children scream at him and have Roger whine about how sorry he is for being in the wrong all you want, but the fact Roger's mental illness is still being used as a shield in the narrative--IE, making him have hallucinations for whatever reason or depicting him as a Schizophrenic for how he talks to the ghosts no one else can see nor hear--, just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. In general, Roger's motivations outside of being mentally ill and "wanting a family" are incredibly lacking; There's nothing outside of his mental illness that makes me dawn to care about his character. It would've been nice to see more of his backstory before working at Freddy's, or more of Roger interacting with the established FNAF lore at the time, but that's a matter of personal taste on my part.

FNAF FAN THEORY: WILLIAM AFTON IS NOT SPRINGTRAP
(oh yea a note that this theory also includes the theory where Scraptrap and Springtrap are the same animatronic/same soul)
(Another note from after I made this post: I know peeps have said this theory was debunked but I still hold onto it because it makes sense to me)
When I was younger, I was always obsessed with this video game franchise and one of the popular theories was that Springtrap was William Afton. But it always confused me for years because of a few things:
1. Why would William target the nightguard?
2. Why would he say stuff like "I always come back" among other things that suggests he thinks the nightguard knows him?
3. Why would William be among the souls he himself had killed (intentionally or unintentionally)?
That's why I am revisiting this old theory I had about almost a decade ago. More details under the cut. ⤵️
Springtrap.. the gross, decaying bunny we all know and love. Perhaps he's not actually the man behind the slaughter? Perhaps he's a victim himself?

According to my questions earlier, Springtrap must be someone who:
1. Has a grudge against/wants to kill the nightguard (or whoever he might think it is).
2. Has come back from the dead before.
3. Thinks the nightguard (or whoever he might think it is) knows him.
The man in question is a character we know. Someone who knew William Afton. Someone who wants to find him.
Someone like...
...His own son.
That's right, folks. My theory (similar to some other people's theories) is that Michael Afton, William's own son is the real one inside the Springtrap animatronic. Let us break this down.
Targetting the Nightguard
We know that most the animatronics target the nightguard because he wears a purple uniform just like their murderer (William). Most these kids' souls probably don't remember his face and only remember the fact that his uniform is purple. That is why they target the nightguard.
Now, my question was WHY would William attack the nightguard when his main targets were children? WHY would he as Springtrap attack a random nightguard if they posed no threat to him? Simple. He just isn't Springtrap.
Springtrap is someone who believes the nightguard to be a deserving target for his violence. Just like the other animatronics who think the nightguard is their murderer, he is looking for his father to probably kill. This is reinforced by...
Michael's End Voiceline
After you complete all of Sister Location's custom night, you get a message from Michael along with an image of guess who? Springtrap in the Fazbear Frights attraction. The message is as follows (script taken from the book, FNAF: The Freddy Files, page 137):

(Very sorry for the glaring light)
I underlined a few words we have to pay attention to, especially as it points to his objective (finding William) and ALSO matches some voicelines that Scraptrap/Springtrap says. (I also think Michael's voice kinda sounds like Springtrap/Scraptrap but he also probably sounds like his father)
"I always come back"
The words "I always come back" comes from Scraptrap's mouth. There is also the Springtrap alternative, "I'm back!" This suggests he has come back from a horrible situation before, call it death, call it a job at the sister location's maybe... (wink wink)
Michael Afton is a man who has came back from Ennard wearing his body. He has come back from the guilt of killing his younger brother (the crying child). He has come back before. And now, he has come back to find William.
He "always comes back" because he cannot rest. He cannot rest because (according to the Michael end voiceline previously) "there is one thing left for him to do," to find William and kill him.
Other Voicelines
Another thing that Scraptrap says is "You may not recognise me at first, but I assure you, it's still me." This is similar to Michael's end voiceline as shown previously. "...They didn't recognise me at first—but then they thought I was you."
Scraptrap says that line "you may not recognise me at first.." to the nightguard, implying that he thinks the nightguard knows him. (He thinks it's his father just like the other animatronics do).
There is another Springtrap voiceline, "I've been living in the shadows.." which also matches perfectly in Michael's message as shown previously.
In general, most of Springtrap's and Scraptrap's voicelines are all things a vengeful spirit might say. William hasn't had a thing to be vengeful for. He IS the one all the animatronics want revenge on. So it makes more sense that Springtrap is possessed by a victim rather than the man himself.
Some examples of Springtrap (from FNAF AR: Special Delivery because he barely speaks in any other game):
1. "I will make you suffer! Suffer like so many of the others!"
2. "Suffer now! Like all who have stood before me!"
3. "Your time.. is up!"
4. "Hide if you want.. It did not save the others.. it will not save you!"
5. "They will come to find you!"
6. "And now you are mine!"
Etc.
Other Things to Note
Some other things I want to note about Michael:
1. In the end voiceline he says, "I put her back together" presumably referring to Elizabeth, whom he set free in Sister Location. This is the same thing his little brother hears from the plush Golden Fredbear. I believe it is actually Michael who was talking to his brother and the voice was just processed to become Fredbear in his brother's dreaming mind.
2. In FNAF world, Springtrap's loading screen includes the line, "Cuter in person; still a killer." This throws the theory a little off balance... unless you consider that Michael unintentionally killed his little brother. He is "still a killer."
3. William wouldn't touch springlock suits again. If he's worried about his own safety and is aware that springlocks might kill him, he probably wouldn't use it to kill his victims again, especially when he has the Sister Location animatronics to kill children for him.
Michael, on the other hand has used a springlock suit before in the 4th night in Sister Location and survived. He probably believed that using another springlock suit (spring bonnie) to hide from the vengeful spirits, who mistook him for William, would be safe. Instead, he gets locked inside the suit and dies drowning in his own blood. Until he comes back. (You see?? He "always comes back" because "there is only one thing left for him to do")
4. Speaking of FNAF 3 minigame...
In the mini game the player has to play as each animatronic and to follow purple guy (we will assume it's Michael) who says "Follow me." In the end, he destroys each animatronic, thus setting them free. However, the spirits chase him (probably mistaking him for William), causing him to hide in the springlock suit and die.

Michael's objective was to kill William but also to set the souls free as stated in his voiceline, specifically "...She's free now," referring to Elizabeth being set free by Ennard wearing his skin. He wanted to set the victims free. But it didn't work because they were still enraged and restless.
5. Michael carries the guilt of accidentally killing his little brother by what was intended to be a harmless prank. My theory is that because of this guilt, he takes it upon himself that he must "put them back together." He tells himself that he must set them (all the victims) free from the chains of the mechanical prisons that is the animatronics.

6. In the Freddy Files (and blatantly said in other FNAF things like the movie), Scraptrap is referred to as "William Afton." I believe this to be a red herring that is very fitting.
I've already mentioned that the souls Michael set free likely mistook Michael for William and that's why they chased him. My theory is that Scott Cawthon wrote it like that on purpose because many of the souls and others already mistake him for William Afton and even outside of the canon, he is still only remembered and thought of as "William Afton" despite all the evidence. This fools people just like the souls were fooled about Springtrap's true identity.
If my theory is correct, I am so sorry, Michael Afton that so many souls blamed you for the things your father did. I hope one day, you and the other victims may find peace and finally rest...
So...
As long as I may talk about this theory.. Sadly, there are also some shortcomings like every theory has...
Shortcomings
1. Cassette man calls Scraptrap "old friend" and that he should burn in hell. I have no explanation for this except for he mistook Michael for William.. or he is not actually referring to Scraptrap but is referring to the nightguard (?).
2. I just solved this second shortcoming in the 6th "Other Things."
Again, my friends.. All of this is only a theory.. a GAME THEORY... thanks for reading.🫡
...
....He suffers... he is restless.

just wanted to parrot something a friend said
being a fan of william afton ≠ ted bundy
being a fan of nolan afton ≠ jeffrey dahmer
people can be fans of FICTIONAL murderers because it's fiction. these are fake people killing other fake people and that's okay because it's all fake!
but if you're a fan of stuff like the columbine shooters.

OKAY, GRABBING YOU FNAF FANS BY THE THROAT RN
IF I HEAR ONE MORE FNAF FAN GO
"BuT, BuT, I waNt FaNdOm MichAeL AfToN/ScHmIdT, It'S LOre AcCuRaTe"
STFU, STFU
First of all, everyone believes the fandom Micheal Schmidt and Micheal Afton is canon, he is NOT. The only thing we know about Mike Schmidt is that he is the silent protagonist in the first game that exists. Then you have Micheal Afton who hasn't been confirmed to be Micheal Schmidt but is hinted at being so in a few instances but is never actually confirmed. All we know about him is that he went into sister location, freed his sister, his dad is William Afton, and he exists for a bit and then dies dramatically and that's it.
THAT'S the ACTUAL canon for Mike Schmidt and Mike Afton
And before you say
"BuT, BuT the LoG BoOk-"
RESPECTFULLY, STFU ABOUT THAT TOO
Yes the book is in his perspective but that book is meant to be a fun insight into the characters and lore, if it was actually through that character's perspective everything would be incredibly limited and let's not forget there isn't even a page on either Micheal.
He is a blank slate character in reality, the one people know of was made up by fans and now new fans are hating the movie because they see the fandom mike and lore as CANON LORE when it ISN'T
AND DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE FOX BULLY AND CRYING CHILD BECAUSE NOTHING HAS CONFIRMED ANYTHING ABOUT THAT IT IS PURELY FAN SPECULATION, FOR ALL WE KNOW THEY COULD JUST BE RANDOM KIDS
So quiet your whining about "BuT ThE mOviE IsN'T lOrE AcCuRaTe" because what you think is lore accurate isn't actually lore accurate, it's all just speculation on your part
So, in other words-
KEEP YOUR LITTLE MITS AWAY FROM MOVIE MIKE, HE IS THE BEST MIKE WE HAVE GOTTEN SINCE THE BEGINNING AND I WILL DEFEND HIM FROM THE FANDOM WITH A BROOMSTICK ISTG

honest to god favorite fnaf game?
ultimate custom night.
dont come after me yet let me explain,,
not necessarily for gameplay (that one goes to fnaf1 and fnaf6), but the purpose it plays in the lore.
time after time has it confirmed a multitude of theories people have been pumping out for 8 years. whether this be lore relating to cassidy's vengeful spirit, henry's robotics/the mediocre melodie's importance to the plot, henry and william's relationship pre-murders, possession of the toys, mangle's gender, any of the animatronics' genders really, the importance of chica, how william lured his victims/his strategy, and susie being the first of the 5 kids.
out of all of these, the most important is the significance of the player change. not is it just for the lore clues, but rather the plot in general. its been confirmed in-game that you're playing as william afton, post-murders and post-springlocks, as well as post-fnaf3/6. this is slowly touched up on by the death quotes of the animatronics, before leading up to the fact that it takes place in william's special own purgatory, relating back to henry's speech in fnaf6.
ever feel like you're being tortured, playing 50/20 mode 25 hours a day? that's how you're supposed to feel, since that's how william feels. except each death is more real, as he experiences it inside the screen. william is being tortured, being killed over and over again for his actions, being forced to relive the robots he made that started it all. being forced to relive all these different locations, that trigger him, cause him ptsd, or to melt down. these are being flashed over and over again with no particular end.
yes, it is his own purgatory. and this is also what henry meant by how "the darkest pit of hell has opened to swallow you whole". this was the pit of hell he was talking about. imagine being overwhelmed by all of your triggers that never end, and the feeling keeps stacking up and up, and right when you think it cant get any worse, it does, and the bar of pain skyrockets. where theres no limit to your torture, and it can just keep layering and layering upon itself. and imagine that you had deserved that level of psychological and physical torture, like how william afton had deserved it. the idea is HEAVY. which is why its one of my favorites.
but how do we know he's suffering to such extent? well, imagine what you experience playing in the game, in real life, turned up to the max. we know its PAINFUL because of the way he screams in the old man consequences secret in-game. he goes as far as to communicate in the teeniest source of gameplay to reach out to someone, ANYONE. he reaches out to the two people that are never going to help him. this shows how desperate he is, and yet still so arrogant. we also know this is his own purgatory because of henry's words to william in his speech, but also because of an easter egg you can get with old man consequences.
the concept of william, instead of being put to rest or being brought back to life to be tortured, having his own purgatory that he is to remain in forever is so cool, and the way fnaf should've ended. knowing he was in neverending pain, and all other souls have been put to rest. its my favorite concept in the eyes of lore, so yes, ucn is my favorite fnaf game.
ok rant over.🫡

Nbjbnmm ok so,,,since fnaf 3 came out ive been a fan of springtrap itself (w/o knowing who was inside lol) and like,he stayed as my fav since that even later when i found out who he was,(i kinda still see springtrap as a character of its own) and when i watched the movie? bro the feeling of seeing william afton,,,,the springbonnie suit....that fucking entrance GODDD the way he just menacingly walks slowly, first the eyes glowing and then just appearing fully njkgdukh cheff kiss,,,all the little details we see when hes fully suited...when he tilts his head a bit and THE ROBOTIC VOICE EFFECTS!!! i cannot wait to see springtrap.....i was like 100% sure we will see it on the second one but now that i think of it maybe itll be on the last one? like, even more epic but i also dont think so since hes like, the only villain so,,,ghhhhh im so fucking excited to see the design of springtrap in the movie just thinking of it makes me vibrate out of existence like...hes such a character i love sm i never knew i needed to see him like that,moving,walking,talking..but now that i did i wanna see him forever o(-( ill never get enough nor get tired of movie springbonnie nor springtrap when he appears i just hope he gets A LOT of screen time since on the first one we only got it at the very end, speaking technically it would make sense that on the 2nd we get wayyy more of him
im also looking forward for his backstory like, since we know so far its a different story,i wonder how different the backstory of the afton family will be? like...will william have a dead son (akka evan) or not? caused by his own animatronic or not? if not,im rlly curious about what happened years ago
I wonder if Henry also existed on the movie story 👁👁,there are some theories only,we do know that someone was working on the animatronics in the guide of security thingy, and the guy does look veryyy similar to mike's dad,and the way will reacts to mike's last name? yeah....theres no way his working buddy didnt have the same last name, hence why that reaction, and the fact that he kidnapped his brother, leads me to think maybeee some drama happened between henry and will? like,as a kind of revenge maybe..
mmm thinkibg thoughts
