to the anon who said stuff about being connected to human culture after being faced with a general (and frankly very annoying) dislike of orthohumans in the therian community, i agree.

while i think it’s valid to dislike/hate/be afraid of orthohumans (often stems from trauma, and just sometimes from looking at all the horrible things humans have the power to do) i think humans are not inherently evil, and are truly interesting and valuable animals. they are important to their environment, great ecosystem facilitators, and most have so much love, community, talent, creativity, and culture to be explored (though some of this is not exclusive to humans). they have just as much potential for good as they do evil, it just happens that power attracts evil people, and corrupts. i like to think that the worst people are the loudest minority (statistics, not social status

had a dream last night where i told my gf i was a therian

she seemed so apathetic to it. like she was trying to be supportive but she seemed so betrayed. she asked why i didn’t tell her sooner, but her facial expressions were blank

ya know how sometimes in dreams you Just Know things? well somehow i knew what she was thinking. she was hurt because she loves me, and knew she could never see me the same way again. she just wondered why i waited 2 years to break her heart. like it was some sort of cruel thing i did to her

now when i think about telling her, i feel disgusted in myself. i have no clue how she’d react. she’s only ever seen 9 yr old therians on tiktok, and there’s no good time to gauge her opinion on the community without bringing it up as cringe or seeming suspicious. now it feels selfish to even think about telling her, even though i know it’s not

to be fair, she might be totally accepting, and if she isn’t, she might be once we’re in college and exposed to a more diverse group. but in a small high school in The Middle Of Nowhere USA, it feels like kill or be killed. i love her to bits and i want to tell her everything, but im not sure i can, and it’s tearing me apart

i would describe therian could be said that it's basically an animal born in human society. with very low escape from it, because as we all know, animals who are raised by humans mostly cannot get back into the wild and survive. and some animals don't even want to go in wild because they're domesticated through centuries and are used to live near humans, who may still not fully understand them

Hey this is gonna make me sound like a real idiot, but what actually is a therian? I googled it and I got a bunch of really conservative sounding articles about it and I'm not sure I trust them lol

From what i know, a therian is basically when someone identifies as an animal (their theriotype)

i'm still learning a lot about therianthropy myself, and i don't really consider myself as a reliable way to get information, so if you were hoping for a more detailed description you should probably ask others instead of me :,3
