Okay! So, I remember @sugar-soda and I talking about the Reboot AU, and I think I've got an idea inspired by what we talked about. What if for a new AU, the X-Men Evolution characters, who are sentient, saw Reader through the screen or saw them in their dreams, and somehow brought them over into their world? And Reader, confused and afraid, does their best to square their shoulders and figure out where the heck they are and why they're in New York, stuck in Grand Central Station, and why they feel off...

i can’t stand the markeve set up in the invincible show, and i don’t think i’m alone on it. i don’t even have a lot of in-depth reasons to cite other than the fact that it is like… so fucking dull

and to some extent, i agree, that’s what they both need: a little stability, plain-old college-student love story. eve’s character as a whole is grossly misused, from her personality to her combat to her overall plot utility (and i also understand that’s necessary because w/o limitations, she solos the verse), but her relationship with mark is one of the saddest ways i’ve seen her character done.

note: i do not know how they get together in the comics in comparison to the show, but i’m sincerely hoping that it doesn’t involve a future version of eve telling mark “confess your love to me or reject me so i don’t spend the next 20 years languishing over how much i love you.” i essentially skipped the section of the comics that is now s2-s3 and early s4 so that i can have some stuff saved in suspense, but i’ve pretty much read the entire ending of the comics. i don’t mind where they went with their relationship, i suppose — not everyone can be toxic and evil and full of yearning — but how it’s going in the show rn is very contrived

eve’s contributions to the plot are solely to push mark’s character development to prep for the season finale. she doesn’t really disagree with him at all from what i can remember, which is like… BORING as hell. she should have her own opinions that clash with mark’s, especially since she had her little “i’m gonna help people in my own way” arc and understands the value of not being just a plain hero brawler. given her backstory with the government, she should have a more fundamental understanding of how morally grey the GDA’s situation is, and she should either abhor it or tell mark to actually think it through. you don’t understand how much i dislike female characters who only exist to agree with male characters and fight with flashy powers (while being super strong but never getting a chance to really impact the plot) and skin-tight suits. i don’t like when they get injured/killed just to further a man’s development or send him flying into the rage that he needs in order to defeat the next big villain.

never reduce your female characters to this! you can have a stable, loving relationship between two college students without making the woman 2D. the show writers are already so loose with the plot that i feel it would be okay to have eve try and rejoin the guardians only for the whole fiasco to take off. given her more involvement, show her a little love, make her more than just mark’s gf. i know they can do this because debbie grayson exists, and even amber exists.

eve has always wanted to do something that “matters” and even the writers can’t even give that to her. (funny irony on “matter” though, for someone who can manipulate it)

i’ll probably revise this post once i get further into my rewatch and further into the middle part of the comics that i skipped. if any info’s inaccurate (i seem to have a habit), it will be fixed.

sooooo :3 with courier's main outfit i made him a unique outfit to wear cause i didn't feel like a lot of the canon clothing was Him Coded enough. but basically, his main outfit is like a green shirt + bullet proof vest + cargo pants + combat boots. oh yea also glasses. anddd he can sometimes wear a ncr ranger helmet if he feels like it, not all the time because it gets really hot. so he usually just doesn't wear any head gear. all his clothing he found in different places and just took it.

probably when. him and arcade had been traveling together for a while and cour finally told him he was crushing on him and arcade reciprocated GIGGLESRDNJFJDNHG thats so gay help me . BUT LIKE courier doesnt really trust people at all, its really rare for him since.. can't be vulnerable ever what if they turn on you? so when he met arcade and got to know him, it was one of the only times he really felt comfortable with anyone and felt like he could trust. so cour was instantly wowza.... hearts floating above head...... anyway courier prob told him about his silly feelings at like 3 am when they were in a random abandoned shack for the night. Not romantic at all but they were both happies and <3 yay <3

i need to rant about this because i don't see enough people talk about finney's distress when gwen is in trouble with their dad and you've likely got very good thoughts on it. but it's the way he's breathing, the fact he looks like he's about to start crying himself after screaming the second time, the way his eyes are trained on the belt when gwen gets up, the hatred in his eyes as he watches their dad and the tv after she's allowed to leave. but most of all? the fact that this was what he woke up to. his baby sister screaming and crying in pain and the realization that he wasn't awake to protect her in time. the guilt he, as an older sibling, takes from that is overwhelming. the guilt of not being able to prevent it, let alone intervene. he likely spent his life raising her and guarding her after their mom died. god knows their dad wasn't doing it. so he had to carry the weight of, in his eyes, failing as both a brother and a parent. and i don't think he forgave himself for it. i'd go so far as to say his desperation to get out before robin's call was to get back to her because he couldn't handle the idea of failing her like that again.

ohh i love this, very insightful. as someone who had a fair share of waking up in a similar way, my parents having a fight with either of my siblings i felt finney's distress as it was my own. i think the movie did a great job portraying that and so did the actors. i definitely think that gwen's future well-being and safety was a huge motivator for finney to try and do everything to get out. i'm also a big fan of them not having to/wanting to accept their father's apology because he doesn't really deserve that (yet). or most likely he never will. the abusive cycle of trauma and grief isn't something you can get out of if you're in so deep as terrence blake was. so yeah, i think he should work harder, harder than it was shown in the movie, to regain his children's trust.
