tickles me to imagine rand having admiring thoughts of either aviendha or elayne during that month they were all traveling from falme to tar valon together and especially when rand and aviendha are in the waste together and she has to begrudgingly teach him things about the aiel...there were so many moments where you could tell he was amused by her (or her him) and after reading the shadow rising i can imagine rand's inner monologue during those times...berating himself for noticing their admirable qualities and having to remind himself that avi and elayne are Together and even if the aiel have polyamory they've given no indication that they want Him and besidessss he has enough relationship woes rn why was he even thinking about this...meanwhile aviendha is scowling at him for being quiet for too long, elayne is half a world away singing about tits, and egwene is dream battling his forsaken situationship

Ok this is the last fucking straw I am making a list. So far the wheel of time tv show has a remarkable history of killing pretty much every single side character that I love. So I'm making a list for posterity, and also so I may recognize some more patterns in the hopes that I'll find a way for Rafe Judkins to stop killing my darling characters in particular.

Special mention of Padan Fain, whom I liked a lot in the beginning, and was very surprised when he turned out to be evil(tm). Though he is very good at being evil, I'll give him that.

I might also have to just full on stop talking about loving a triad(ish), because so far every single time one of the three has died within two minutes of me saying that. It's really weird that it's happened twice this season alone. I'm sure I'll finally be fully on board with Avirandlayne minutes before Rand sacrifices himself or whatever.

I really cannot get over Loial. I love him so so much. I mean, yeah, maybe he's not dead and someone catches him or there's something on the bottom or whatever. But I'm fucking devastated.

Ok I also wanna clarify my post, because we may be having two separate conversations I’m not sure.

When it was said that we should expect Siuan to die because it’s a tragedy I counter that while bad things happen people generally survive and romantic pairings also generally survive. The two major romantic pairings that do die die in ways that are inextricably linked (Gareth and Siuan, Egwene and Gawyn).

I’m not saying gay people can never die it’s just really shitty that Siuan dies and Moiraine’s options as they stand now are a Ghenjei rescue to *no one* where in the book it was to her “settle down and retire romantic partner” or, die for good (and hope to be reborn or whatever Rafe says is his plan), when there’s gonna be like x number of end game hetero ships.

Like unless Faile or Lan or Galad start dying idk.

(I know AviRandLayne is gonna be its own thing but it’s not interchangeable with Siuaraine)

Okay full book spoilers someone disagreed with my assertion that the wheel of time is a tragedy and I was suprised by that so I thought I’d see what other people think of this.

it's truly so funny how obsessed mat is with The Avirandlayne Situation around the LOC-ACOS era. the other friends are in varying states of peaceful oblivion about the whole thing because they each only know about max 1 side of the triangle and also aren't obsessed enough with rand to have sniffed out the other sides on their own (egwene was bearing witness to avirand just as long maybe LONGER than mat was and never clocked it like he did)

and meanwhile mat is out of his MIND frazzled about the state of rand's love life, he's like "okay so rand and elayne had a thing in tear, but now there's weird Tension between rand and aviendha, do THEY have a thing? is rand and elayne's thing still a thing? does elayne know about rand's thing with aviendha? does aviendha know about rand's thing with elayne? will i have to keep elayne and aviendha from killing each other?"

you know what would be so cute for avirandlayne in the show would be if rand & aviendha get together in s3, then they reunite with elayne for s4 and aviendha immediately susses out that elayne has a crush on rand (which she acquired in falme), and elayne is so guilty and apologetic like "i know you're with him i'm so sorry i'd never try to come between you i'm trying to get over him" and avi's like "girl what are you talking about? get in this relationship!" and subsequently takes it upon herself to play matchmaker, while elayne is mortified and rand is an oblivious baby about the whole scheme.

oh! then we would get to maintain the canonical "aviendha telling rand about how hot elayne is" scene, but here it's in the utterly wholesome context of aviendha trying to set her boyfriend up with her friend who she totally doesn't have a crush on, instead of.......i'm not even going to try to sum up the mess that's going on between the 3 of them at that point in the books djkfjg

+ bonus hijinks: avi's constant descriptions of how hot elayne is and reminders to rand that it is okay to have multiple partners in aiel culture make rand think SHE wants to date elayne, which he is all for, and he sets about trying to set THEM up. eventually aviendha and rand both find out that the other is shipping them with elayne and they're like

they finally work out together that they both like elayne and both want to date her and both want the other to date her, and then elayne is swept off her feet and all's well that ends well.

i'd been thinking they might hold off on having min share anything specific about her polycule viewing until such time as they're certain they have enough time/seasons to work her into the polycule (since the existing "3 beautiful women" line could easily be played off as lanfear being one if they only had time to do rand/elayne/avi). but IF she and mat both go to tanchico, then s3 could actually be a good time for her to reveal it because she could confide in her boy mat about it over drinks, and then he could confide in her about HIS recent marriage prophecy, and they could commiserate over their Fated Romance shared experience.

also, i can just picture min starting to say that a while back she met a man and had a viewing that she'd fall in love with him, and mat going "oh?????👀" and min going "oh good god, it's not YOU, dumbass"

we have two different mat drinking scenes, one with just the boys in daylight and the other with more of the larger group in the evening, so, scene: the wondergirls, the aiel, and loial join up with the boys at the inn for a night out, and rand immediately makes an absolute idiot of himself in front of elayne and aviendha because mat has been getting him shitfaced since 11AM
