thinking about how Clea's impossible dream was to see all the world's art and collect all its fables to bring to life in her workshop, and how knowing she could never achieve this is the only thing that makes her regret mortality

and thus how cruel she must find it, that Aline created a population of people, but only bothered to paint them a city - not a world

Lumiere is the only human civilization that has ever existed in Verso's canvas, and the people inside it have no idea how much of an affront that is to the human experience. They have words like viennoiserie, but could never conceptualize of a place called Vienna. They have diverse ethnic characteristics, but only one homogeneous culture - no thousands of years of history, heritage, art, folklore, etc etc etc that shapes a people and makes every corner of the world unique and worth knowing

Clea dreams to see everything, and the Lumierians have nothing, so you have to wonder if part of the reason why Clea doesn't feel they are "real" people isn't because of what they are, but because of what she knows they're missing

Hiya! I'd like to ask how do you do your ms paint art? Do you first make the outlines and then colours, or perhaps vice versa? I really adore your ms paint art and would love to know the process (for practice purposes:))

Depends! My two strategies, featuring Cactus Gunman of Gregory Horror Show fame:

I often just color right on top of my sketches when I'm being silly + designing characters + just trying to figure out what something looks like (and tend to use this to fiddle with details and colors) It's usually quicker for me to end up with something that I'm happy with.

Most of the time when I bother to do separate, cleaner line art, it's because I'm making a graphic for my website. LOL. I think it feels a little more cartoonish-silly, which is usually what I'm going for when I decide to do this. It's also a bit harder to make large changes to whatever I'm drawing, so I'm usually working off of a messier thing I've already made.

(Technically, I no longer use MS Paint and instead use Aseprite due to becoming a Linux user, but nothing has really changed about the way I draw + all of this can be done in MS Paint just fine.)

Started sketching this, my first Hatchetfield fan art, last April and apparently haven't touched it since until this morning, getting Ethan's more detailed sketch in and messing up Lex's face but maybe in the end (after a nap this afternoon) getting it closer to something I can ink. To be fair, I'll probably find more to refine on these sketch layers as I get the trellis' and vines' positions finalized; anyone could receive another face transplant.
