I don't know what fucks me up more, the fact that Constructs just have a Secret Ribcage Pocket for storage or the fact that it's so underutilized that MB forgets an entire FutureTech WiFi Extender in there for an absurd amount of time. "You would think," Buck groaned, burying his head into his pillow, "that we'd be better at sleeping through noise. Just, considering our job."

Eddie sighed, staring straight up at the ceiling.

"Work might be part of the problem," he pointed out, not moving even as Buck wriggled his way closer. "We're used to having to get up at a moments notice."

"Big fuck-off fire alarm is different to midnight construction works," Buck said, hooking his chin into Eddie's shoulder. "Our brains should know that and let us sleep."

Eddie finally moved at that, dropping his head to the side to press a kiss onto Buck's forehead, right over his birthmark.

"At least we're able to sleep on the job," he pointed out, wincing when the truck started reversing. "Imagine having to go into the office tomorrow."

Buck shifted slightly so he was wrapped around Eddie more comfortably.

"As long as you're prepared for Chim teasing us about both being exhausted."

Eddie laughed at that, lifting his chin so Buck could nuzzle closer.

"We'll just sick Maddie on him. I'm her favourite since she started joining wine nights."

"I'd argue but I know you're right," Buck said. "As long as Chris is yours and I'm second, I'm all set."

"I don't know, she does make good brownies," Eddie hummed, straight faced, before cracking and brushing another kiss along Buck's forehead. "You know there's never been any competition, baby. Not even when there probably should have been."

"I know," Buck agreed, craning his head slightly in search of a proper kiss. "It's just nice to hear sometimes."

Anson's book recommendation is The MANIAC by Benjamín Labatut. The book explores the life and thought of a clutch of mathematicians and physicists who took science to strange and sometimes dangerous new realms. Anson's graphic novel recommendation is THE DEPARTMENT OF TRUTH by James Tynion IV and Martin Simmonds. It revolves around the idea that if enough people believe in a conspiracy, it becomes real, and there is a government agency involved with keeping reality stable.
