Sept personnes se réveillent dans une maison mystérieuse, et doivent jouer à un jeu macabre. l’un d’entre eux doit mourir, sinon ils mourront tous. L’heure tourne et leur sombre passé va être révélé.

Ce film d’une heure et demi passe d’abord pour un Saw (2004) low-cost, voire un métrage qui ne fait que surfer sur le succès de Escape Game (2019) mais l’ambiance y est bien différente. Pas gore pour un sou, il s’agit plutôt d’une intrigue dévoilée dans un huis-clôs dont la forme est sûrement motivé par le marketing. Le rythme est maîtrisé, le jeu des acteurs est correct et le scénario nous emmène dans une direction logique mais pas totalement prévisible. Les décors font preuve d’une certaine originalité et ce film apporte un modeste coup de frais à notre index de thrillers, habituellement très anglo-saxons, nordiques ou français.

Pour autant, aucun élément n’est révolutionnaire et aucune scène ne viendra nous titiller l’esprit ; que ce soit le soir dans nos lits ou lors d’un moment d’ennui. Le travail est proprement… propret.

Good morning Amity Park. You may have noticed my recent absence and wondered why I disappeared. Believe me, it was absolutely not my intention to vanish for nearly three months. I was perfectly fine staying here and continuing on with my life like normal. Or, afterlife, I suppose.

But those god awful natural portals. I really hate those things.

You know, they would actually be quite handy if they weren’t so unpredictable. But no, you take a walk down the sidewalk one day, only to get sucked in by one of the darn things, then boom! You’re in the middle of nowhere, two months in the future, surrounded by trees and bugs and vines with thorns that you can’t get away from, and the closest civilization you can find is god damned Carl Junction Missouri.

I had absolutely no idea that this place even existed, but now, I know that if hell is real, then it’s exact location is Carl Junction Missouri. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it, dear god I am never going back there, nobody can make me.

There was a nearby city, Joplun? I can’t remember. They had an airport with flights to Chicago, but I didn’t have my wallet, and absolutely none of my ghostly abilities wanted to work with me to sneak on the plane.

I’ve been hitchhiking for four days. This has been one of the most miserable experiences I have ever had and I never want to go through anything like it ever again.

The Fentons will not be driving today.
