1- Our Dreams At Dusk by Yuhki Kamitani, an asexual x-gender creator!

A classic in the lgbt manga niche. Literally google "lgbt manga" and you'll find this one in the top results. It's popular for a reason! Starting Tasuku, a gay teen, the manga deals with members of the queer community from all walks of life living in a small town, and how being queer impact their lives. Yuhki Kamitani's poetic and abstract story telling abilities enhances a simple story line into one of the best emotional roller-coasters you'll ever ride on. TW: Attempt suicide, mentions of said attempt, groping of a minor, lots of homophobia

2- I Think Our Son is Gay by Okura, a gay creator!

An ADORABLE story about a progressive mom trying to learn more about how to support her closeted gay son without making it obvious that she knows. Super sweet and adorable, and the author's notes were so touching! queer joy all around

Kabi Nagata is an biographical essayist that publishes all her work in manga form. The #1 non-sexual Bara, made by the #1 bara author. Tagame may be more known for his NSFW works, but his first SFW serialization shows the experience he's gained through the decades working on manga, even winning multiple awards (-) . After single father Yaichi's estranged brother passed away, Yaichi gets visited by his Canadian husband, Mike. A beautiful and sweet story of dealing with loss and overcoming homophobia, ft the cutest little child character and a very healthy divorced couple!

Miyazaki (AFAB) realizes at age 33 that they not only are X-gender, but like woman as well! The manga also takes the time to explain all the terms used in the LGBT community, making it very accessible to those out of the loop! Also, the art-style is very cute.

The cute auto biography of Yuta and Kyota, a gay couple who have been dating for almost 20 years. second fic i've been looking for, but not as much of a priority to me as the first one, all i remember about this one was lwj found out about wwx giving up his core almost immediately after it happened and wwx lets lwj help him sooner. one scene i remember was wwx and jiang cheng were arguing and jiang cheng uses zidian on wwx and mortally wounds him and stops wwx heart (i think?)

What about Dante?

You've done analysis on how you are rewriting Laurance and Garroth, that's 2/3 of the main guards. But I haven't seen anything about Dante (or most other characters for that matter but I'm speaking PD guards here (also I have a current Dante hyperfixation so the boyo is corrupting my brain))

If you don't have anything right now then that's fine, I was just curious about our beloved blue haired guard

listen. first of all shhh about the fact that i haven’t analyzed/rewritten a lot of characters because let me tell you. originally i had a hierarchy of the order i was gonna do these characters in and it looked something like this

and then it started getting confusing when I got to Gene and Sasha so I did in fact give up with the hierarchy and started freeballing. but that’s irrelevant ANYWAYS-

DANTE ACCARDI!! that’s the last name I gave them. i don’t have a lot for him yet tbh :( but here’s what I have so far!!

so he’s like, seven years younger than Gene (his mom had Gene young, and soon after having Gene his father died in this timeline so Dante is only Gene’s half-brother). and when Dante was younger (I mean like 4/5 young) he and Gene were super duper close. like Gene loved that kid with all his heart and actually ended up wanting to become a guard to protect the little guy

and another reason Gene wanted to protect Dante initially is because most of the population in Borobos is a magicks user or witch or warlock or mage or something divine. everyone has some form of something and a very very small percentage don’t. Dante is part of that small percentage, and because of that he got bullied A LOT. Gene would help by erasing/changing Dante’s memory of it, but obviously when he went to the guard academy he couldn’t do that

not to say that Dante’s parents were neglectful but uh… they did focus a little more on Gene because not only did he actually possess magic but he was a brilliant fighter (like he was head guard of Borobos after graduating the academy in no time). I feel like there’s a specific phrase or word for kids in Dante’s position but the only thing coming to mind is glass child but I know that’s not it anyways

so because Dante was sort of like unintentionally pushed to the side and bullied, he spent a lot of time by himself once Gene had gone off to the guard academy (in my rewrite children typically go just before they turn 13 and stay until they graduate at 18/19. they will come home maybe once a year. there are a few cases in which teenagers (14/15) are accepted, and their graduation is based on how they do) and to sort of occupy his time and distract from the loneliness, Dante poured his entire self into school and reading and became very book smart in an attempt to garner his parents attention

(side note but his parents are the married couple that should have been divorced.)

at some point Dante started learning a couple tricks to stun anyone that tried to jump him, so he was always covered in bruises. and when Gene came back, Dante had that extra layer of protection again. Dante was like 10 when his brother came back

I’ve kept the backstory regarding their falling out mostly the same from what I remember (I haven’t reached that part in my rewatch quite yet), but I did change a couple things

so let’s talk about Gene for a second. Gene is very headstrong and passionate and very one track mind. like once he gets an idea in his head, he does whatever it takes to get what he wants. (he’s also like, misogynistic but that has nothing to do with the incident with girl he fell in love with, noooo (sarcastic)) so like at first it was protecting his little brother, and then he put his heart and soul into the guard academy and becoming head guard of Borobos, which happened when he was about to turn 20 (he IS the youngest head guard in recorded history). so when he came back, Gene put his entire heart and soul into dedicating himself to his village, and Dante looked up to that, and decided he wanted to become a guard as well

now, remember when I said Gene does whatever it takes to get what he wants? so basically when he falls in love with the lord’s daughter, he starts telling Dante all about it. like she could literally just pass by them in the plaza and Gene goes

“That’s my future wife. Perfect as always. Irene, she’ll be the perfect mother and wife, don’t you think, Dante?”

and like Dante’s always been weirded out by these comments because like… it’s weird to him, especially with the possessive tone Gene takes on when talking about her. think like Gaston from Beauty and the Beast

and like two years go by, Dante is 12 and about to enroll into the guard academy, and then it all goes to shit

so I haven’t really touched the stuff where Gene went to change the girl’s memory and i don’t really plan to? because I kind of want Dante to like idolize his brother and then Gene goes and does that and Dante’s world comes like crashing down

but anyways Gene dies :) Dante is devastated for a little bit because Gene was actually like, one of the only people that ever really paid attention to him so now Dante feels like he’s ALONE alone, but it’s okay. because Dante’s going to go to the guard academy soon and then he’ll be a fantastic guard like his brother right?

WRONG! basically what happens is Gene comes back. same shit happens. Gene erases and changes everyone’s memory of Dante, and Dante is forced to run off to his uncle. he spends longer in the woods than he intended because he forgot the way there, and he finds himself in a different village where he catches a ride in a caravan to his uncle’s village (when he’s older, Dante realizes how lucky he was to have come across good people)

and remember how he was about to go to the guard academy? yeah, he doesn’t end up going. he’s so distraught over everything he goes into a dark pit of depression for a while, and it isn’t until he has a nightmare about Gene that he decides to enroll again

Dante is a very rare case for the guard academy. he started attending when he was almost sixteen years old and graduated on the Jury List only three years later just before he turned nineteen. initially, the academy was very hesitant to accept him because he was older than most new students, but also because he had no record of a life before he was thirteen. so they wondered if this kid just appeared out of thin air? what’s his deal?

but they decided to take him in. Dante already knew a couple combat techniques because Gene had taught him, and that definitely helped boost him higher in the program. not only that, but Dante also just had incredible intelligence for the written exams and passed nearly all of them with a perfect score. he was a quick learner and able to easily and quickly adapt to the changes around him, and soon enough Dante was the quickest graduate the academy had ever seen

(another side note, but Dante always had the ability to be stronger than Laurance and Garroth before the 15 year skip, the only thing holding him back was inexperience. when he shows up in my rewrite, Dante is 20 whereas Garroth is almost 29 and Laurance is 28, so they both have nearly a decade of experience over him. not to mention they both actually followed the normal schedule for guard academy graduates)

that’s all I have for his backstory right now. i’m also still coming up with his hairstyles throughout the series (hair symbolism is a very big part of my rewrite in letting the reader know where the characters are at mentally) but I do have a couple just stray headcanons and things i’m changing so here they are:

Dante develops a fear of passing time after Aphmau and them disappear into the Irene dimension. he’s scared that he’ll die before knowing what happened to Aphmau, who he came to consider a sister, and everyone else that went with her. he stayed in Phoenix Drop all those years but it was a very big debate with himself about whether or not he should leave just so he can let go. and after Aphmau comes back, Dante still has a fear of time and hates being late to anything—he’s always early

he and Nicole actually did get married. the two made a short trip to Meteli and got married under Cadenza’s ministry (many lords, head guards, and second in commands hold the power to officiate marriage, especially if the village is small). they were only married for a short time, though, before Nicole received notice of her father’s death. it was after she found out that she had to go back to Scaleswind to inherit the city, but Dante just couldn’t go. the two never officially divorced, but they don’t consider themselves to be married after Nicole leaves

1. Yoichi lived cause his brother is a creep. However when Inko found out she participated in the oldest way women got ‘divorced’. A bit of arsenic.

2. Izumi is a very happy kid with her uncle who saw the signs of bullying right away to tell her mom. Inko was not happy and put the fear of God into the school. Then it went back to the bullying so she took Izumi out and sent her to a new school using the millions she inherited after her husbands tragic death. Around this time they also found the bar so they’re helping deprogram Shiggy and Kurogiri.

3. Izumi meets the super cool and pretty Yaoyorozu Momo. She falls head over heels and it is an adorable baby crush the likes of which no one has seen. Momo crushed right back. Their parents took bets on when they’d get together. Yoichi also met a very handsome man who has a radio station he began dating.

4. Inko never remarried but is very happy living with her brother in law. Izumi is taught from a young age how to fight and wants to be the first Quirkless hero, encouraged by her family.

5. Yoichi recognizes his old Quirk and flags down All Might with proof. He is absorbed into the family as an uncle and everything is beautiful.

He also plays the guitar but now he barely touches it after his dad didn't show up to one of his rehersals in his school...that broke his heart after he reminded his dad so many times the date and time of his rehersal (hes still mad about that day)

And even if he is playing his guitar he will automatically stop once Leona shows up or knows he's home...after all "why bother to show talent if he wont appreciate it"

*Nāala the PRINCESS of the house, always ready for the latest fashion...she's spoiled but not rotten! She also has ballet classes and is going through the motions of being a girl halfway through puberty (which sucks by the way!) Despite being the princess of the family she naturally argues with her older brother Raff but instead of sulking with eachothers angry feelings they say their apologies and make up...

She barely remembers her own moms face since they went no contact, she does feel sad about it but covers it up taking her dad's side of the story.

*Tiba lived with Leona since the beginning of the first divorce, he was really small so he didn't understand why their parents divorced to begin with.

He is really shy despite his loud personality but once you get to know him he will absolutely talk your ears off about bugs and types of cicadas...

8. X Lives and X Deaths of Wolverine

A lot of rapid fire plot stuff and time travel fuckery. Centers around Wolverine, Jean, Moira, and Xavier and established some essential stuff for the following volumes. There are no Cherik interactions in this arc at all, but it may be necessary to skim through for plot reasons. Thankfully it's relatively short with only 3 volumes, combined into a single omnibus.

After this point the reading order gets super fucky so I'm trying my best 😭 Yes, there are reading guides that go issue by issue but I'm not keeping like 20 tabs open with all the different titles and switching between them.

9. Legion of X (Issues #1-5)

Mostly just Legion and Nightcrawler hijinks. Charles is in a scene interacting with his brother and David in a way I found pretty funny. Magneto does not appear at all in the first five issues, everything after that point contains major plot developments that are covered in Immortal X-Men, A.X.E Judgement Day, and X-Men Red.

10. Immortal X-Men 2022 (Issues #1-4)

The start of Professor X and Magneto's divorce era Krakoa edition 🙃 Magneto became disillusioned with the concept of Krakoa after everything that happened in Trial of Magneto and Inferno. Then a lot of conflicts happen one after the other and everyone's mad at each other. They are separated so not many shippy moments, but the initial breakup is worth reading:

11. Hellfire Gala: Immortal

Charles is in a single panel and that's it. Some pretty big villain!Moira stuff happens but idc so I just skimmed through it. I didn't read it so idk where it sits timeline wise but I think it's skippable.

12. A.X.E. Judgement Day

The entirety of the Judgement Day arc, happy to say that this one is only 6 issues instead of sixteen 🙃 You get a detailed explanation of major developments that are echoed in the rest of Immortal X-Men, Legion of X, and X-Men Red. You can read this one first but you won't get the context for certain things that are mentioned in passing. No Cherik interactions, unfortunately.

13. X-Men Red

Basically what Magneto and Storm have been up to on Arakko after Mag retires from the Krakoa council. Some really badass moments and I found the difference in Arakko and Krakoa culture to be super interesting. You also get to see Magneto's final words to Storm (about Charles), and later on some pretty intense Charles angst as he attempts to cope with Erik's permanent death. Tbh at this point I'm getting pretty tired of going back and forth between different titles so I read this one all the way through. Of the 16 issues only issues #1-11 have Cherik bait, with issue #11 specifically dealing with plot points from Sins of Sinister. I THINK if you want to read in the correct order you can read up to issue #10, read everything Sinister, and then go back and read #11. Everything from that point onwards in X-Men Red is Arakko and Storm-centric.

14. Immortal X-Men (2022) (Issues #5-10)

The conclusion of the Judgement Day arc and the lead up to Sins of Sinister. I really enjoyed the dynamic between Mystique, Destiny, and Sinister. Charles is called annoying a lot and Magneto's death is mentioned multiple times. Then some more unexplained developments are shown which I need to read the other titles to get context for. Great. Don't worry about Dr. Stasis or Nightcrawler's horns just yet, because by issue #10 there's a whole lot more to worry about. After a very cool monologue from Xavier we get a direct lead in to Sins of Sinister.

15. Legion of X (Issues #7-10)

Charles being a bad dad saga continues! Whole lot of twists and mysteries that are not resolved by the end. I think a lot of people will be frustrated by Charles behavior here, but to be fair he is likely being influenced by something/someone as shown in immortal X-Men. I find legion's storyline to be interesting so I didn't skip anything, but there are no Cherik ship bait-y moments aside from Charles generally missing him and being lonely.

Idk where this sits in regard to Sins of Sinister, but seeing as Nightcrawler has horns and Charles doesn't have a diamond on his head, it likely sits somewhere between Immortal X-Men #8-10 on the timeline. Or simultaneously? There's a lot of timeline fuckery happening. I'm honestly so confused.

16. Sins of Sinister

Gotta be honest I didn't expect this one to be such a complicated read. Basically X-Men Red, Legion of X, and Immortal X-Men all build up to this single issue, at which point there's a whole new series of titles to read set in this Sinister-verse. Originally I planned to cover the whole sinister business in this post but it's a lot so I'm gonna cut it here. I think that Sinister is genuinely very funny so I do plan to read it all.

According to this helpful guide on reddit, I seem to be on the right track. There are a LOT of titles going simultaneously for this period in Krakoa history, covering branching plots for Wolverine, the Marauders, Sabertooth, and more. I'm mostly concerned with plots having to do with Charles and Erik, so I'm not going to bother with those (maybe I'll check out Sabertooth idk). The important thing is that I've read all the primary interconnected titles: Immortal X-Men (*only up to issue #10), A.X.E. Judgement Day, X-Men Red, and Legion of X.

Honestly there are a lot of great moments, which makes it even worse that this is such an awfully complicated experience. I wish anyone attempting to read it all good luck and I hope this post is even remotely helpful.

OLBA or Our Life: Beginnings & Always it's a visual novel where you can play the perfect life you never got and cry about how much you wanted it after you finish it :DD (available on Steam for pc and Itch.io for both pc/mac and android!)

You play as-- well, you (or not, you choose)! You can choose your name, last name, pronouns, appearance, personality, hobbies, everything except your family, but you wouldn't like to change them for anything after you meet them.

You start the game as an innocent 8 years old kid that meets a random guy that tells you that he just moved across the street, he also tells you about his son: Cove! who has the same age as you. This guy tries to bribe you with 20 dollars, you can accept or refuse (or run! i like that option), either way you end up in a poppy hill behind your house and find the so famous Cove! He tells (cry) you that his parents just divorced and that he miss his mom ( :c ), you can comfort him or not, but you two still will be found by both of your families and have to go home.

That's the prologue! Gameplay aspect: it consists in 3 Steps of your life: 8, 13 and 18 years old! Each Step comes with 5 Moments, where you can spend time with (mainly) cove, if you're playing the base game. Talking about base game! You can complete it in around 5 hours (that's what took me the first time i think), and it comes with a 4th Step that work as an epilogue!

There are 6 paid DLC's (and a free one that is a name pack), 3 are other 15 moments for the first 3 Steps, 1 is a wedding dlc for our lovely Cove <3 (we'll get to him in no time), and the last 2 are extra content for two characters you'll meet in your very first playthough: Derek in Step 2 and Baxter in Step 3 (you should know this one very well if you follow me lmao), each with 5 moments extra for their assigned Step and their own Step 4 where you can follow and give proper closure to their stories!

I'll try to not ramble a lot because it's something you just need to experience yourself to get it but-- i will introduce you to the love interests! (or friendship interests, you don't need to crush on anyone to have a great time)

Cove Holden! Our lovely neighbor that we see almost everyday for like 10 years! You could also call him the second main character after you, since you learn more about him and his family during all the game. He's an introvert and ocean nerd (in the cutest way possible), depending on your choices you can shape his personality/style and become best buddies, the sweetest couple or just remain neighbours that never really got along. (you'll learn to love him, platonic or not, trust me)

Another perk of the game is that no matter what you do there's not "wrong or right" (unless you feel bad for the characters, like me), your actions does have consequences but there's nothing like a "bad ending/good ending", after all it's just your life, it goes on no matter what! Unless you want to reach a specific scene you found online you'll never have to use a guide for anything.

Derek Suarez! A caring guy! mabye a little too much, he's the oldest brother of 3 and that shaped him in a way that he always feels responsible of everything😔. During his storyline you'll help him to learn how to relax and lean on other people :D!

Baxter Ward! A monochromatic gentleman, mischievous as a cat and emotionally repressed like a pressure cooker <3. Struggles a lot with making deep conections and being emotionally vulnerable, you can imagine about what goes his storyline lol.

He's my favorite, if you haven't noticed. He has that infuriating charm that only someone that unironically says "Hallelujah" has. A very dramatic route, he's a very dramatic guy, you should see how he texts in step 3 aghsdas.

Also! all the side characters are super likeable, from your family to the baker of that bakery that is metioned a few times!

ANYWAYS, in conclusion: this is a very relaxing game! If you like visual novels you should definitely give it a try, the amount of replayability this game has is insane. My recommendations for when you play are:

Try the base game first! If you like it you can buy the moments dlcs (theyre only 3$ each!), mabye the wedding dlc after that (if you want to marry cove that is, this one is 2$ btw), Derek's dlc and Baxter's dlc (5$ each) for last. Those are pretty much the release order but i that's also the order i enjoy the most!

(play this game at least 2 times trying different choices/personality, the differences are ughhhh/pos)

When you're playing for the first time you should play the moments left to right. On later playthroughs you should change the order to find new dialogues! theyre small things but omg theyre so fun

Have fun! do whatever you want, i literally said there's no bad or good ending, take advantage of it and be as foward or shy as you want, be a little shit or a literal angel! That is your life we're talking about.

AAAAAAHHHHH, DON'T DO THIS TO ME! There are some many pairings I love in so many books, movies, series, soap-operas, etc.

*sighs* Okay, gun to my head, there's three, in no particular order that I absolutely ADORE, have made me cry, and that I legitimately don't understand how anyone could watch these shows and not ship them (spoilers for Friends, How I Met Your Mother and The Borgias, respectively)

Monica and Chandler

Because I was just 4-years-old when Friends final season was aired, I already knew these two were going to be endgame when I watched the show - and it didn't take long for me to see the appeal, even when they were still supposed to be just friends.

They're just so affectionate with each other right from the start, cuddling on the couch, helping each other out - and Chandler just casually says stuff like "If neither of us is married when we're fourty, I'm totally willing to marry and have a kid with you just so you get the family you want" and actively tries PROVE to her he is boyfriend material and they make a game out of it??????? Genius. Perfect. Amazing.

And then it happens, they hook up and right away they're couple goals. Can't keep their hands off each other, are super clingy, all of their friends find them ridiculously adorable, Chandler matures A LOT and Monica is very patient with him because she knows he's used to hiding any emotional turmoil behind a sarcastic joke, and they can joke about and tease each other without either of them being too mean or too sensitive.

Also their conflicts never last more than one or two episodes and they never break up after first getting together, and it was a breath of fresh air coming from the same show that gave us Ross and Rachel.

Barney and Robin

They have INSANE chemistry, Robin was the only woman Barney was truly willing to change for, and Barney was the one guy Robin was with that ever truly liked her for who she was.

They. Deserved. So. Much. Better.

Seriously, I can't get over how unfair their ending was. There's a reason I tell Zutarians to give this show a watch before they complain about how their ship, that was never even canon, was "robbed of it's happy ending."

We see Barney and Robin being teased as potentially having at least a fling someday as early as season 1, they finally hook up in season 3, season 4 is all about him struggling with being in love with her, seasons 5-7 are all about them dating then breaking up while still being very much in love yet never properly reconciliating because life gets in the way, season 8 is them getting engaged and being adorably happy together, the 9th and final season is THE WEEKEND OF THEIR WEDDING and them working through every last issue they still have to make sure they will a long, happy life together as a married couple...

Then the finale goes and says "Actually, they divorced off-screen because their hotel room had no wi-fi. Sorry." WHO THE FUCK DOES THAT? It's really no wonder the network cancelled the planned spin-off right after the finale aired.

Ah yes, a Nichya list of great ships includes a pair of siblings, specifically Older Brother X Young Sister, who would have thought? This time a kind of, sort of historical one! Even as someone who is very into that kind of dynamic and that knew the show was gonna go there, I was still SHOCKED at how unsubtle is right from the start - especially once I found out the writer didn't want to play up the sexual tension originally.

Somehow, the first time we see these two on screen, Lucrezia is spying on her brother as he has sex and once he notices he playfully chases her around the garden, berating her for spying on him AGAIN, and then when they're on the ground together he just casually admits to loving her more than he loves God????????????????????????????? NORMAL SIBLING BEHAVIOR, EVERYBODY! NOTHING WEIRD GOING ON HERE!

I adore how protective (and possessive) Cesare is of her, ready to commit murder at the very thought of a man mistreating her - yet he is still willing to step aside when he thinks she found a good man, because nothing matters to him more than Lucrezia's happiness, not even his own. It just so happens that he always has to step in again because nobody loves her quite to insane degree he does, and thus she only feels truly safe, happy and loved with him, hence her saying "Only a Borgia can truly love a Borgia."

And they, legitimately, are insepareble. They're always close to each other, holding hands, hugging, cuddling, KISSING - all long before they're ready to admit, even to themselves that they're in love.

They are so clueless about what level of physical affection is normal between relatives that they made out in front of her husband and were surprised he found out about their incestuous affair.

And more importantly, thanks to the show being cancelled after season 3 instead of getting the planned fourth season, they never broke up! The show literally ends with them in each other's arms, accepting their love. I couldn't have asked for literally anything else.

I kinda feel out from reading stuff on the apps daily

and keeping up online serialized chapter releases has been a mess, too...

Maybe I need to do statistics on the JNC slices of the monthly readings, I definitely keep busy chasing deadlines and then not manage to read it all anyway.

No An Archdemon's Dilemma: How to Love Your Elf Bride has been read this month, but due to cascading little incidents at a certain place Chastille has kind of become my alter ego and… I have not much to argue against it…

In terms of single franchise, this month's probably mostly dominated by Spice and Wolf/Wolf and Parchment.

Also decided to add a bit of a music section, considering how much time I was busy chasing lyrics and trying to read those (This will get some overlap with the months prior.)

How to Survive as a Villain Novel ch236 - After dragging it for weeks on end I finally finished reading the last chapter… that I had read before though gap jumping anyway. It's been a while where I simultaneously had an urge to read on asap while also not wanting to finish it at all. Anyway, some when next month or after that official Singapore English edition is coming, very curious how that translation will look like without any so many annotations.

Wolf and Parchment v6-v8: Volume 6 seems them with their newfound 'official relationship' that bubbles in and out and is perfectly tailored to them, especially Myuri. Hyland's being a complete fangirl of it is a nice touch, otherwise the whole case was interesting mystery and likely that cat is the same as from S&W is it? Some more real life history modelled things also got added, but the twist with the bears is interesting. The author speaks of three pillars he has to juggle, that of the overarching world lore, the characters and the plot of the current volume, while S&W he had pulled the former into a backseat. That also very much explains, why I had so many starting troubles with this one. The World Lore takes a good 4 vols to build up to have their first payoffs to feed back into the plot, and frankly the two characters only got more interesting from v5 onwards. Too bad I paused this for years after v4, which I remember to be more of a slog than not. Interestingly, that was also the volume the author had struggled a lot with, apparently. Volume 7: This volume starts with a really really cool passage from the conversation between Col and Clark:

Now, doesn't that kinda sound familiar. Espcially that last line nails it rather well.

This is kind of awesome. Not your usual bog-standard love bla bla is what changes the world, but this something that can't be named, this siblings like family, but that doesn't hit it, it's also not lovers, and whatever it is called, in the end one can only default to it as the umbrella term, but it is NOT what you'd usually think about it. The series definitely places a lot of importance to this something and this volume is so far the epitome with realizations sinking in just how important it is to them and then it culminates in the epilogue with Col being like, he's not planning to marry her, but he wants her by her side regardless. And he wants to make sure of it. In a form of equal side by sides, so if he's the Twilight Cardinal now, there he goes and makes it so, that she's going to be celebrated as a saint by his side. And it's all so cleverly weaved into the plot at hand about the wanting to be heroes, the inability to do so, but still wanting to dream about it in stories, and also the pieces fall into place for S&W's timeline as well. And it's not like it's denying your usual idea of relationship and under that world – after all, Holo and Lawrence are right there in their own series holding a spotlight and Col got his faith out of their love rather than anything else. Volume 8 however… seems a bit on the nose starting with the red string on the cover and the plot line in this volume unfortunately is a bit… well, the world is interesting, Canaan is a bundle of charm to bustle everything up and the wrap up to have the new continent plot line in is neatly resolved, but the sheer amount of folly in there…. Myuri, what are you doing? After everything last volume, you go and be all worried? Why the hell are you? Col at least even points out at just how OOC it all is for her.

Spice & Wolf v23-24: Speaking of those two's series, their antics… actually do start to get a little bit old. I dunno, maybe it's because it was getting slightly repetitive? like v24 is definitely a good plot, but the plotline twist is essentially the same as that previous short story about the regional lord that doesn't want to fell the forest, but is stuck between and rock and a hard place. Otherwise… Now that W&P has given a glimpse of how cool the overarching world lore can be S&W is starting to feel just a little pale in comparison. But as a companion it's really nice, how it picks up the pebbled behind Col and Myuri. It's just you really notice that by now Spring Log has a clear side story character to it. Also, I've had these weird impressions for a while now, but Eve and that Umbrella girl kinda smell a bit GL-ish and I do wonder if there's gonna be some plot around the desert after all. (Even if W&P v8 tries hard to deny it.)

The Apothecary Witch Turned Divorce Agent v1p1-v2p8: This has been pretty funny, and her groaning about failures in basically Anti-Cheese-Work, but also, she can't begrudge the happy ends for the couples where a thing I could feel so much, there is one obvious question to, how come people haven't come to her yet in hopes of the opposite, like they all seem to seriously want the break-up rather than her shaking things up to actually fix it.

((classified)) v1 first third: Well, not much that I can say as of yet, beyond: This MC gives me quite a few aroace vibes going by some thoughts and comments here and there, and I am going to be very curious how this is gonna play out. I expect it's going to be more of a late bloomer thing and the whole series is to be very very slow burn in that regard, with many other things on the forefront. But let's see.

Domestic na Kanojo v12-13: The whatever it is continues, and it seems to have reaches some lulls, which are mostly bolstered up by pouts from Miss little sister. Otherwise, Mr. Wannabe English guy remains punch worthy. What do you mean you'd not make her cry, as opposed to Natsuo? You merely tried to rape her, sure, you'd never make her cry. =V Miss twin tails also is like… sad to see. Where did your self dignity go?

Duchess in the Attic (Manga) ch1, v2ch7-12, ch13-14: We have another badass strong female MC, my ears are all perked! I mean, just look at this glare of dignity!

Now the LN just has to come. (Spoiler: it got licensed right the month after early July by the time I am writing this up.)

Sakura, Saku v4: It feels a bit like it tried to do a Kieta Hatsukoi and I will say it did it well enough. It also has a wholesome message and all, but somehow, I dunno. It's not bad, it plays the surprise out well, too, and it's in character of the cast, but it just seems a bit. Not having a charm of its own about it. I dunno. The whole series is down to earth 'normal' sorts of, but compared to the aforementioned KieHatsu, it had more individualistic 'character' or so about it. Not sure how to phrase it.

The Silent Concubine ch33-122: Erm. Ok. What. Was. That. I maintain the beginning as written up last month is still so, and it's rather nice to have this uke fate doomed Shen Yu have his own agency and even using the help of the emperor who got smitten with him, while he is now quite the rationalist to know first come gains. Ok. He was described as bewitchingly beautiful, so people arguing over him isn't maybe that out of place. The whole background story about his lineage and the extra finger knuckle was either lacking in exposition to begin with or the translation has missed out something? It kinda came half out of nowhere. That Shen Yu seems fed up enough to go for suicide knowing how anyone else is just this more powerful than him, him still being poisoned, and his mother is gone anyway, also makes sense. But like, you make him the descendant of a line of former royals that doomed themselves for inbreeding and incest which would even give a reason for his disability also seems plausible. But then, oh, it's psychological and oh, not only does he survive his suicide attempt, but his chronic poisoning is gone, and suddenly he's also not mute anymore. And it kind of completely topples the power dynamic over. And then goes that Chu clan and, uh, Mister new Emperor just goes to be his bodyguard somewhere hidden who knows where. Man's got some priorities, despite knowing the instable the state of things are. And then, right, he's gonna be the only one he marries. How to solve this? Oh, hey look, that ancient clever Chu clan has developed a concoction of a birthing potion (that only works on the clan). And then it still works when it's not both of them of the clan, well, way to how he has to remain the uke. And then there's his blood relative of a from around a few corners who wants to woo him, too. (Tho more for form's sake.) Erm. Okay. I guess. Something Omega in Ancient China. And then suddenly there is a side dish romance that seems to have completely bubbled in the background only to come and be all like oh well, they knew themselves from childhood and. Whatever. It just feels rather contrived a lot of times in the second half.

Silent Lover (Silent Concubine) S2 alt. Counting ch142-192(S2ch1-50): So, morbid curiosity brought me to season 2, and it's a sequel with the next generation, the son of the Main couple of S1 and the adopted son of the side dish couple. I have to say, I am almost amazed at how completely brazenly it goes and rehashes S1's plot line. With not much sense at places. So there's another arranged marriage, but like his adopted father is the right hand of the emperor and they are on good terms, his other father (who kind of never showed up, is he dead?) used to be a good friend of that emperor's spouse that is the other MC's birthing parent. That and that he is a brilliant scholar of his own with status and family pedigree should give him the means to stand his ground. Doesn't seem to matter. Well, maybe he is just timid. But somehow despite the series even having the galls to joke about how the MC's parent's tale is a cautionary tale and them knowing that their son is a bundle of a folly, nobody ever shows him the ropes properly. So he's just being all abusive again. There is another rival for the MC who is all super mean and anything, but just winds up dead along the way. Instead of poisoning, MC winds up suddenly having an oh so very dangerous blood illness on top of his weak disposition. Oh hey, turns out he's actually of the lineage of the previous emperor. Oh, also, he's been super in love with his abusive arranged marriage partner until there was too much abuse for him to call it quits. Also gets tortured and his hand crushed and disabled. Gets wooed by the prince of a foreign land. Oh, and there's a murder attempt to the emperor, how come S1's MC suddenly has vanished completely after showing up just a bit to be all pouty and everything? And isn't the prince the Chu clan bloodline descendant and crown prince, like probably that birthing potion would work on him, too, but of course as a clone of his emperor father he's gotta be the seme character yet again. - ????

Well, as I got so little read this month some music babbling 雨霖铃 (Bells Ringing in the Rain) by 喵☆酱 (Miao Jiang): It started with that little chapter title from How to Survive as a Villain that is quoting a line of a poem by Liu Yong (984-1053 AD). 今宵酒醒何处？ "Where will I be, when I wake from my drunken stupor at dawn?" That poem has by now grown on me. Technically, apparently the inspiration was the author having to have to leave his lover, but the text itself is on a more abstract level of simply a separation to foreign lands. Googling that led me to the first result that is a youtube song with a dance and a cover of it, that is from the soundtrack of a game named 逆水寒 (nisuihan, "cold against the current"), which for whatever reason is called "Justice Online" in English. (How'd you get from one name to the other??) Not that I noticed that at first, both song videos are incredibly traditional styled and the dance by Tang Shiyi is definitely quite pretty. (And I mean, the video is from the CHINA NATIONAL OPERA AND DANCE THEATER??) It took me a deal of digging until I even found the singer's name, which had me go ????, because, it basically means Meow ☆ Sauce. That so far was still in April, but the song rather stuck and then there was also this other song from the artist and yet another song to that same game I came to kinda like.

鴻音 (Resonant Sounds) by Sa Dingding - that popped out in the playlist of the channel, and there's another dance by Tang Shiyi also to a song of the Nishuihan game. No poem, but it kinda sounds the epic tune style. And the dance video is also something. (The match cuts in particular left an impression.)

笼中雀 (Caged Bird) by 喵☆酱 (Miao Jiang) - No poem again, but the mood reminds me of Bells ringing in the rain. The lyrics of this and Resonant Sounds do sound a bit cheese, while Bells could arguably be about any sort of seperation. By here this had reached May and I was getting into that whole soundtrack of that game, which by all means has a good few of nice tracks. And while I was at that, I found this.

浮光 (Floating Lights) by Zhou Shen (周深), Jannik the original intrumental version and some endless amounts of cover versions both vocal and intrumental and dance videos - Apparantely the nishuihan game has some sorta feature where you get to replay some tunes or something? And this song was one of it? Or I don't know. In any case in some playlist the instrumental song by Jannik sat on top as the first track and it immediately struck a chord. The name is suspiciously Western tho (going by the discography they're probably even German??), but googling that you get a Chinese Baidu Baike Wiki page, which then talks about the vocal version by Zhou Shen, which struck even a bigger chord. That had me look up the lyrics and since Zhou Shen is a rather famous artist, it has some lyrics translation videos. Except.

So nostalgia and doubts are kinda the same thing, aha.

This sounds like a sort of saudade x nostalgia x hiraeth x natsukashii with touches and yet it's own thing, as baike explains it as "the unwillingness/reluctance to leave something or to let it go" as its first meaning and the second being "cherished memories (怀念) directed towards passed days" (which kinda sounds more natsukashii than nostalgia). And that is incredily interesting, but I am bewildered how this turned into 'doubts' of all things? By now it was end of May and now plans to study Chinese are plainly up on the table again. I just don't yet now how to best go about it.

Maybe I need to watch that The Blue Whisper drama to get it, but then it also looks incredibly cheese everything and… Also, do you know the agony of you kinda liked a song just by its song and then it just turns out to be all cheese lyrics once you look them up?? It kinda felt like a curse. =V

一梦惊鸿 by 黄诗扶 (Huang Shifu): There was also this one, which popped through the recommendations box and picked my eyes through a really nice dance video.

Solo Leveling OST - aikari: I'm not exactly sure why peculiarly this one picked my ears, haven't even watched the anime, but it was strangely loop-able.

My sibling headcanons for DCLA characters

Of course excluding the ones we KNOW if they have siblings or not, and the ones I just assumed are only children.

Camila - We know Camila has sisters, plural. How many sisters does she have? My answer: Around 4 younger sisters. Two of them are around 2-3 years younger than her, one is 6 years younger than her and one is 12 years younger than her. Beyond that she also has a LOT of cousins. This is why her mom needs her to help out a lot.

Maxi - Maxi mentioned in the pilot that he has a brother. I think his brother is around 1-2 years younger than him.

Marco - Marco mentioned in a passing conversation he had a sister. I think he has two sisters; one older and one younger. His older sister is around 2 years older and his younger sister is 4 years younger.

Braco - Braco randomly said that he has 180 cousins in this passing scene???????? And with that many cousins I also think he must have a lot of siblings, too. His siblings are of every age from babies to almost 30.

Broduey - He seems a lot like the cool older brother, it wouldn't surprise me if he has a bunch of younger siblings who all look up to him. The oldest being maybe 5 years younger than him and the youngest being just a toddler.

Delfi - I feel like she has two younger siblings, a sister and a brother, who she thinks is super annoying if they so much as breath in the same room. But she also loves them dearly. They are 3 and 5 years younger than her.

Jazmin - Jazmin I think has a sister who I think is a year older, and then she has a half-sister who is almost 10 years younger, and who she likes to give makeup and fashion advice to.

Ramiro - he has siblings, but none of them have the same sets of two parents. He has two older half-siblings from his dad's side, a boy and girl who are twins and are 3 years older than him. His parents later divorced and his mom later had his younger half brother when he was 5. His father also remarried someone who had a kid, so now he also has a step sister who is around 1 year younger than him.

Jim - She gives off so much younger sister energy. She has a two year older sister.

Yam - She has two younger brothers who drive her nuts. They are 4 and 7 years younger than her. She always wished she had a sister, but she has a female cousin she's very close with and kind of like her sister.

Simón - Simón has the biggest middle child chaotic energy I've ever seen. He has one older sister, who is like 2-3 years older, and then he as a 3 year younger brother, 5 year younger sister and an 8 year younger brother.

Emilia - Emilia has 3 younger half siblings who are triplets. They are 9 years younger than her and she hates to have to take care of them but she also loves them. She thinks that they are annoying her at every move, but if anyone ever hurts them she will come in their defense. Emilia has punched toddlers is what I am saying.

RAAHHH 🔥🔥🔥‼️ wow it is so funny there’s exactly 5 of them tgat’s so crazy. unfortunately this is a question that plagues me

1. 3rd life. that feels like a cop out because it is The Classic and i truly didn’t think anything would dethrone last life but ? i’ve reflected on it (by which i mean i’ve rewatched last life a million billion times as part of the completionist grind) and i’ve realized like. i don’t think i super love last life as a season, i just remember the completely insane fandom atmosphere that the time with a lot of fondness. so 3RD LIFE 💥💥💥💥 i’ve been thinkin a lot about treebark recently…… also look at my pfp cmon brother

2. secret life. maybe it’s just because it’s the most recent full season but genuinely it was SUCH a riot, by far my favorite season to rewatch, everyone’s got something uniquely stupid going on and also like ? usually when it becomes to alliances there’s always a couple duds for me, like at least one per season that i just never had much to say about, but i genuinely think i could have a paragraph prepared about any of the groups in secret life. this may be subject to change but ❤️

3. limited life. im sorry who would i be if i didn’t put martyns winning season in at least top 3. i know limlife is divisive but personally the time gimmick Really did it for me, the fact that death was cheaper meant it’s by Far the season with the most carnage, that map was complete fucking rubble by the time it was over. i know a lot of people didn’t like skynet and truthfully i would’ve hated it in any other season, but it added such an interesting landscape to the season, having to always reach for higher ground and watch the skies all the time made the combat incredibly distinct and just. ugh. when the pvp changes as a result of the seasons themes ❤️ limlife i love u im sorry nobody appreciates you you’re my darling forever

4. double life. genuinely double life used to be my least favorite season?? idk the soulmate pairs made alliances a little too insular for my taste but it has grown on me a LOT as of late. divorce quartet you were iconic. ranchers you will always be famous. forfeit all mortal possessions to pearlescentmoon.

5. i cannot BELIEVE last life dropped from first to last since the last time i ranked them. that would’ve been fucking unthinkable to me a year ago. but i just. don’t super love rewatching last life? i have a LOT of good things to say about it, and i think it laid a lot more groundwork than anyone gives it credit for, and OHHH MY GODDDD sorry i have NEVER seen a season quite as completely steeped in dread as last life was. i just. feel like it kind of drags a little bit too much for me, and maybe i’m just bored of it because i’ve seen it a million times. however EVERYONE SHOULD GO WATCH MARTYNS LAST LIFE NOWWWW GO WATCH IT NOW 💥💥💥💥💥 OR DIE BY MY HAND.

A few days before my birthday, I had ordered this game called Sims Life Stories off Ebay and I've been playing it since it arrived on my birthday. It was actually the game that got me into the Sims franchise cause back during the Sims 2 era, they used to make these cool little side games for the series that centered around a specific family and had plotlines you had to follow?? So when I was a kid my dad had gotten a trial version of this game in the mail, and I LOVED IT, but I never got to experience the full storyline cause it was just a trial. Now that I've got my own money I'm playing the full game 😎 The character is named Riley and you basically help her get oriented after moving to a new city to live w her aunt. There's lots of drama and love triangles and rivlries and idk it just been so much fun reliving these old sims 2 memories. The game was soooo much richer back then

As for my main sims game, I have this family in the sims 4 where I'm on theirrr 3rd generation rn? 🤔 These hoes are messy tho so like the story started out with the original mom having toddler triplets with an unknown baby daddy, and she moved to a new apartment to start fresh. Across form her there was a cute young couple and she REALLY started liking the neighbor girl's boyfriend? Husband? Idk. So she ended up seducing him and she got pregnant with his twins and kinda ended up wrecking their marriage 😅 AND THEN I FOUND OUT THAT THE EX WAS PREGNANT TOO and I just felt so bad. But whatever.

So they got married, they had 5 kids, the mom started working in like a PR agent track and she got super famous. I forgot what the dad does but he got super famous, too. One of their daughters got famous as a teenager cause she was a musical prodigy as a kid and she started writing music as a teen, so now shes a celebrity musician.

Growing up, her triplet brother was her best friend in the whole world. The only other person she was as close to was a neighbor boy in the apartment complex down the street from her, and the three of them all became super great friends from childhood. As teenagers, she had started dating the neighbor boy and basically as soon as they turned into adults she got pregnant (with triplets. again.) and they got married.

Well. Her husband started staying out super late and acting really suspicious, and she was starting to feel super sad and anxious about it, so she went to her brother's house to vent to him and lean on him for comfort and support. And guess what she found as soon as she walked into the house.

Her husband—the love of her life, the father of her 3 kids—and her brother—her best friend in the whole world, her one true confidant—were there, making out on the couch RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER 🤨🤨🤨

So she beat her brother's ass and divorced her husband on the spot and now she doesn't talk to either of them. She's doing good now tho, she found an artist dude who she married and had kids with. I'm actually in the middle of building them a new home but eugh...I hate building...

Anyways now I'm focusing on tending to her kids and priming one of them to be my new main character once she ages up to young adulthood. She's gonna be a lesbian who meets her future wife in college 🥹🥹 and they're gonna have a cute little farm together.

So yeah! That's all the games that I'm actively playing rn. I could tell you about my other long, crazy generational one that I stopped, but we'd be here forever if I did :P
