#poorly drawn mdzs #better drawn mdzs #mdzs #lan sizhui #jin ling #lan jingyi #granny wen #This may very well be the comic to have undergone the most revisions of this whole project.#I wanted to bring a very specific feeling to this moment - but there are so many things going on in the second half of this episode.#I still think I could have done better - but I've spent days on this one. I do not normally spend *days* on a comic.#In the end...even if the wen remnants passed away in terror and anguish...there was still love and compassion that remained.#Despite WWX's actions not making idealistic change - it gave them enough hope to not fall into complete resentment.#Though only one person truly lived - they recognize him with love.#The return of the toy (in PD-MDZS it's the origami pinwheel) is such a lovely bit of symbolism.#When we age we often leave behind the toys and people we knew - but there is always a fondness and nostalgia we can't erase.#LSZ - who's traumatic coping mechanism made him forget it all - still feels that familiarity.#We often want to walk away from pain - but the past isn't a door you just shut and forget about.#It is only through walking back into that metaphorical playroom and seeing who you used to be that we can understand ourselves.#So his toy childhood and return to him. It does not fit within the life he has built. He is too old. But that love still lies within him.#PS: The last panel features the Circle of Willis - the major artery system that wraps around your brainstem.#I personally love it's shape a lot. It looks like a little guy! It's so distinct! Easily in my top 5 human parts of human circuitry.

Having a "I've connected the dots" moment on why Zeus is so affectionate with Apollo, and I don't know why I'd never considered it before that Apollo's youth could be a reason.

So there was this sentiment that young boys are the dearest to the gods, and the gods are especially attentive towards their requests. And since Apollo is a perpetual young boy himself, with Zeus being the one to grant him this gift in one version, it makes sense that Zeus has granted so many of Apollo's wishes. He spared Prometheus and Periphas upon Apollo's request even though he was personally offended by them. He agreed to suppress Gaia and Athena upon Apollo's request when it came to the oracular business. He even revived Asclepius to console Apollo despite Apollo's frankly disrespectful reaction to Asclepius' death.

Apollo might be fearsome, powerful, and even reckless at times but when he kneels down in supplication, all Zeus sees is his little boy that he loves so much, and he can't help but give in to his requests (well, most of his requests at least). And as far as the text is concerned, and if I'm interpreting this correcltly, Apollo's youth is interestingly tied to his helpful nature because besides using his own powers to help the humans, Apollo can also help them by supplicating to Zeus on their behalf, as Zeus is more likely to grant a request when it's coming from him.

#Zeus #Apollo #I'm also taking this as an explanation for why Poseidon and Hestia seem to be especially fond of Apollo #he's a very beloved god in general anyway #Apollo Greek god 🤝 Miquella Elden ring: being able to tug at people's heartstrings because of their youth #I think Apollo is very aware of this but he does not misuse it...he is very careful with the requests he makes #and that's probably another reason Zeus is fond of him #Also imagine being the lord of the universe and one of your weaknesses is “dad please 🥺” from your kid #<– this could very well apply to Artemis too as she is also an eternal adolescent and Zeus dotes on her a lot #the text itself seems to be saying that Apollo was depicted as a youth because of his philanthropic nature #and not the other way around #but from a story-telling / mythical world perspective the other way around makes sense #but anyway this was a delightful I've connected the dots moment for me #mine #apollo info #father dearest

Did Machete or Vasco ever commission portraits of each other? Can only imagine future historians scrutinizing the relationship they shared.

I'd like to think they did. Or perhaps more likely they commissioned a pair of self-portraits of themselves and then traded.

Moreover, I find the idea of them owning miniature portraits of each other really charming. They were small enough to fit in your pocket so you could carry one on your person if you wanted to, and more subtle and inconspicuous than having a larger scale portrait of someone on your wall.

#both of them have fondness for the arts #Machete in particular is or has been a patron of at least a few skilled painters and sculptors #but he's also sort of camera shy and insecure so he would't have a lot of self-portraits made if any #Vasco on the other hand knows he's good looking and probably has at least one huge painting of himself #on the back of his favorite horse mayhaps #also big fan of lover's eye miniatures but those are unfortunately too recent of a fad #answered #anonymous #Vaschete lore #this is actually a topic that comes up in the last chapters of that Separation fic in my pinned

About your Mimic!Stan AU… How does Bill enter the picture in it? Also! Do you plan on writing more about the story and the dynamics Mabel and Dipper have with their Grunkles?

Nah, I'm keeping Bill out of this AU for now, mostly because I have no idea how to figure out his side of the plot and how to denoue it. Introducing Bill has the tendency to complicate my AUs immensely, and I don't have the brain energy to figure it out atm. I'm open to ideas if you peeps wanna have a go at it. It'll definitely be interesting to consider since Stan wouldn't have the same stakes/motivation than in canon. Maybe I'll figure something out someday! I'll definitely do some more exploring with the mystery twins' dynamic with the Grunks tho :)

#I feel like since Stan technically isn't even human it might change his relevance (??) in Bill's plan for armageddon.#Stan would either be one of his biggest concerns or not even in his radar.#The fact that entering a creature's mindscape would be vastly different than a human's could pose Stan as a risk if Bill were there to #attempt to manipulate Stanford. Since being able to influence people through their dreams is like- HIS THING.#Bill would also have lost a lot of the upperhand involving the emotional stakes that the canon Stanford had with his brother and his past-#BUT he would also gain one pretty big advantage: that Stanford isn't particularly fond of human beings in this AU.#I could try and make a whole character arc for Ford of him learning humans are not all shit and appreciating his loved ones around him #but idk! Things I make for myself when insomnia kicks in

Just a chart about what I wanna change up and keep consistent in my art - I mainly wanna draw Raph with a tail because he deserves one, it fits too well. Donnie gets a long tail too because I didn’t realize how dino-like he looks until I gave him one, and now it’s a must for me haha.
