Ukraine just put two key Russian military aircraft out of commission. It will now be more difficult for Russia to direct operations against Ukraine.

The Ukrainian Air Force shot down a Russian A-50M/U intelligence gathering plane – somewhat similar to US Air Force E-3 Sentry (AWACS) aircraft. And it severely damaged an Il-22M11 command and control aircraft which was able to land but is beyond repair.

It’s official. Russian and Ukrainian sources have confirmed that Ukrainian air-defenses on Sunday hit, over southern Ukraine and the Sea of Azov, two of Russia’s rarest and most valuable support planes: a Beriev A-50 radar early-warning plane and an Ilyushin Il-22 airborne command post. “Who did this?” the Ukrainian air force quipped. The answer, it seems, is the air arm’s 90-mile-range Patriot PAC-2 air-defense missiles. The jet-propelled A-50—one of nine A-50M/Us in service—fell into the Sea of Azov in flames, likely killing everyone on board: potentially 15 people including high-ranking officers and highly-trained radar specialists. The propeller-driven Il-22, with up to 10 people aboard, managed to land in Anapa on the Russian side of the Sea of Azov’s southern coast. “Urgently requesting ambulance and fire crew,” the crew radioed as they wrestled their shrapnel-holed plane toward the air base. Photos of the damaged Il-22, snapped after it landed, illustrate the extent of the damage—a mangled tail fin and fuselage—and also reveal the plane’s exact variant. It’s an Il-22M11, and it might be a total write-off. This version of the 1950s-vintage Ilyushin turboprop is rare. The Russian air force has maybe 12 Il-22Ms after mutinous Wagner Group mercenaries shot down one of the planes over western Russia back in June. While the Russians could modify an old Ilyushin airframe into a replacement Il-22M, they probably can’t do so quickly—or cheaply. An A-50 or Il-22M might cost hundreds of millions of dollars.

Russia had only about ten of the A-50 planes. One was blown up by Belarusian partisans 11 months ago south of Minsk. And now one is sleeping with the fishes in the Sea of Azov.

Hi everyone, using a throwaway account to make this post because my little brother knows my main and the embarrassment would kill me if he ever saw this. 

So for context, I've known this guy for a while now, at least in the context of my life. I've got a pretty hectic life and I'm a traveler, so I've met a lot of people and he's one of the few that's been able to keep up with me. Our first meeting was during a bit of a stressful time because he kind of inadvertently framed me for thievery (we look kinda alike and the police are stupid, it's not his fault but I was pretty pissed at the time) and got me arrested, so we ended up fighting about it in the middle of the street. I'm used to fighting and pretty good at it, so it was a surprise when he turned out to be basically my equal at it, which is pretty rare even among my other rivals. He got the upper hand on me for long enough that the police were able to arrest me again. I was pretty mad but also impressed. Our second meeting was even more stressful because I had just got out of jail after being arrested for the second time, and I was still angry about it so we fought again. I was about to win but then it turned out we were both in danger along with some friends of mine so we both left as fast as we could. Both of these times I could tell he was taking the fight seriously, but I could also tell he wasn't trying to KILL ME kill me. Y'know?

Anyway, in our next meeting he was definitely trying to kill me. Outright said it to my face. I won that fight thankfully, and I'm not even angry about it because a lot of people have tried to kill me over the years and also he has some kind of goal I was getting in the way of, and he didn't even succeed. He ended up changing his mind about that goal though, and when we next saw each other we were on the same side trying to deal with a mutual threat. 

And it was at that point I kind of realized I was in love. I've never really wanted a relationship because I thought it would get in the way of my lifestyle, but with this guy specifically it wouldn't be a problem. I would have told him about it, but then I thought he died and I didn't see him for a while. I wasn't too broken up about it because we only knew each other for a couple days, but I was still sadder than I thought I would have been.

He ended up coming back to life though, and he had lost his memories for the second time in his life (long story I'm not gonna get into) and he didn't really remember me anymore. I know from a mutual friend of ours that he remembered me well enough to be annoyed by my name, which made me irrationally happy, and I think he did end up getting his memories back, but when we first saw each other he definitely didn't know who I was. We fought again, it was a tie, and then we ended up teaming up to take down a mutual enemy again. 

Things have been a bit less chaotic since then. We've fought a couple more times but nothing serious, he's saved my life, I've saved his, you know how it goes. We haven't really talked about anything that happened, but that's fine because neither of us have ever been much for verbal communication and we understand each other just fine. I've tried getting over my crush on him, but that's never really worked because we see each other a lot due to our lifestyles and we have some mutual friends in common, and I like spending time with him anyways, even if we're just beating each other up most of the time.

Personality wise, he's basically my polar opposite, but we get on pretty well despite that. I think aside from my general attraction to danger and his ability to match me in a fight and a race that might be the main thing that draws me to him. I've got a lot of friends, but never one so different from me and yet so similar. He's just always been special to me.

But the main reason I'm making this post is because despite all we've been through, he still acts like we're enemies at worst and temporary allies at best. We fight almost every time we meet unless something less serious is going on, and he's pretty grumpy and mean to me all the time. I like this about him, but it does make me question if he even sees me as anything more than a rival, and I don't know how to ask him because we don't talk about weird emotional stuff. I also think that asking him directly could maybe lead to another murder attempt, which would be fun, but it's not what I'm looking for anymore. I don't mind all the fighting, but just once I'd like to kiss him on the mouth instead of punching his teeth in, y'know?

i loved this message!! i am so happy we won and with tek's second clean sheet, but because i am me i did have some critiques on the match. our defense was solid. balde was amazing, so i'm not overthinking them selling him. i do think his contract will be renegotiated before 2028 and that he has incentives for him to earn more money. obviously because he is a la masia kid i am not sure he thinks much of the wages. the club found it's starting LB, no way in hell they'll let him go. a lot of media outlets let out stories like that on purpose to disrupt the dressing room but balde hasn't missed a step i am so so proud of him. as much as a love raphinha, we need another solution for the left side. of course not now, but time and time again, i've noticed he leaves too much space on the left side which causes balde to move even more forward in the high line defense. this unfortunately causes balde's errors to be paced under a scope. it's the complete opposite of koundé and lamine on the right side.

going back to what you said about players getting rumored to be sold once they play good, i think the reason behind all goes back to the financial state of the club and disagreements among the board. i have a theory because barca has been in shambles for years in the transfer market, i think the board is too scared to sell when a player is in their prime. but waiting always ends up biting us in the ass. their goal is to use a much as they can and then when worse comes to worse or when a player is overworked or injured they put them in transfer talks. it's annoying seeing how we only got €4m for kessie when in this day and age he would sell for €10-20m to saudi and €50m for dembele who just own psg a trophy and how could we forget the araujo saga right now knowing damn well we are going to get the minimum €45m for a young cb when teams are dying for reliable and experienced cbs nowadays.

Do u think we won't be seeing Chris in lead roles in his movies anymore?

I think we will, but the scale of the movies are going to decrease. (Although, if you think about it, that's already happened. Ghosted and Pain Hustlers were both 50M budgets.) I think if he gets into "bigger" movies it will be in smaller secondary roles. He's never proven he can open a movie outside of the Marvel franchise, and that's a fact that Hollywood sees.

who is your least favorite driver?: i know it's not singularly junior's fault the mcl h2h looks the way it does but he Did play a non-insignificant role. so

do you pull for drivers or do you like teams as well?: sniffles i SWEAR i was never a teamfucker pre-2024 but there's something about the mclaren machine that's been massively successful at inspiring sick&nasty hopium... it's also the only team on the current grid where i like + rate both drivers as well as the tp. it's coming home 🧡🧡💯⁉️

how long have you been into f1?: since january 2022! a couple of friends were getting heated abt ad21 at a ny party and i was like i am feel uncomfortable when we are arguing without me ?

if you could take over as team principal for any team, who would it be and why?: regardless of the team i'd just immediately write myself a €50m cheque and dip...... that said i have big plans for u vegan carbohydrate
